Where are some good places I can go to capture the CC, LB, LA, and Westwood skylines. I was also thinking about standing on the sidewalk and looking down Wilshire Corridor in Westwood. LB I could probably get from Signal Hill Park. Where could I get DT and CC. My camera lens ins't the best for high zoom. It says 30-80mm on it.

I really need help. I can't decide where to go. BTW, I need 5 shots. So, can you suggest one more neighborhood?

how many mega pix? you can do a far amount of zoom just by cropping the image on a higher res camera

Long Beach: View from a park off of Queensway Drive, across the harbor.

Century City: tough one if you don't have a zoom lens. Westwood Pavilion has a good view but its obstructed, the old parking lot on top of the west wing was a good place to get a skyline shot (it may or may not still be closed.) There's also a view from the parking garage just southeast of Wilshire & Westwood.

Westwood: I'd recommend the parking garage on kinross just west of gayley (or even the parking lot just south of it)

Downtown Los Angeles: many! Here are a few:

4th street bridge over the 110

3rd street bridge over the 110

Park Row Drive in Elysian Park (the section above the 110 freeway)

The Cesar Chavez Avenue bridge over the 10 freeway

Echo Park lake view

Macarthur Park view over the lake (on the northwest side of the park)

wow. thank you so much. i'm printin that out right now so i can work on my project this weekend. what areas should i stay away from that aren't too safe when taking pics of downtown. i'll either be with my mom or dad, and my mom won't want to be in a bad place. my dad won't mind though.

Seems like from up at the Getty Museum will given you many options.

Well, I don't drive, my dad's working, and my mom didn't want to take me to too many places. I ended up taking pix of the twin towers in Century City from Fox tower and then Fox tower from the ground. I almost got arrested there for taking pix of it. I guess they thought a little, white teenager wearing a UCLA jacket with his blonde haired mom is going to be a terrorist.

Then, did you SaMo Airpot has an observation deck? Yep, it's pretty cool. You stand pretty much right next to the runway and you can get pix of the planes landing with CC skyline in the background. There is also a large park now at the airport. There is a kid's playground, a doggie park, a soccer field, and just a plain grass park.

Then we went to Marina Del Rey and I got pix of all the boats near Del Rey Cafe.

Went into LMU and got pix from the Loyola Blvd. entrance. Drove through it and went to the end of the bluffs. You can see forever from up there. I got some pix looking out, some of the church, the clock tower from a reflection in a bird bath. If you turn around after looking at the entrance to the church or w/e it is, you see a perfectly symmetrical landscape. Working from the outside, you see two buildings, then two palm trees, then a grass/flowery area and three flagpoles right in the middle. Then these five guys got something, probably a frisbee, stuck in a tree. One idiot threw his shoe up there to get it out, but the shoe got stuck so he had to climb up the tree to get it. College kids...

Went down to the Playa Del Rey Lagoon and got some pix of the ducks down there and the lagoon. Then some of the Marina Channel from the bikepath.

Next week, it's supposed to rain, so I'm gonna go to Venice. I'll get some pics of the bridges and canals. But, it'll be really cool seeing the droplets hit the water. Maybe I'll bring my stand, put the shutter speed really slow, and take a pic and it'll look like a complete downpour. Or, have a really fast shutter speed and hopefully catch one water droplet falling.

Calm down. It's film photography so I'm bringing like three rolls of film in tomorrow to develop. Then Tuesday I'll print some for my project. Then I'll bring the film home and print some out at CVS's photo section so that I don't have to do everything. Besides, it would take me forever to print almost every picture on three rolls of film with 24 pics each using one enlarger and having to do all those developing stages. After that, I'll scan them for you guys.

You should invest in a good tele-photo unit:)
