Don't you mean AMD and Intel? Pentium are a type of processor made by the company Intel, jsut like Athlon is a type of processor made by the company AMD.

I reckon they are both just as good. Core 2 Duo by Intel seems to be the best bet right now tho. However, im running the AMD Turion 64 processor (2 ghz) an its served me darn well on my laptop so far.

Hmmm I am using twin Xeon chips on my main computer, basically suped up pentium chips with way more cache.

I'd go a quadcore processor. Pentium Core2 Duo with DDR3 RAM

Well, until the newest AMD chip came out I would have said the Intel chipsets were better. AMD tend to lag a little behind Intel with coming up with the next gen chips, however, when they do they tend to have much more streamlined pipelining and generally better performance.

AMD chips do tend to consume more power than their Intel counterparts though.

I've been an AMD man through and through until this latest system (Intel Core 2) and both are equally good. You just need to match the pros and cons for each chipset. (Though I would go for the latest AMD chipset myself).

Also, build your own PC, don't buy a shop bought.

I've had both.

All I can say is that AMD Chips run F'ing hot!

Hotter than a brick shit house in Beirut!.

Short term good!....Long term no good.

I'll go Intel next time around.

AMD has dropped the ball on their quad cores and are destroyed in performance tests by Intel. I'm usually a fan but they are in catch up mode. That said unless you really need the grunt, i.e. gamin, it doesn't really matter.
