Expatriates in UK to invest US $ 3 billion in Bangladesh
***
A delegation of Greater Sylhet Council representing Bangladeshi expatriates in UK today said they are willing to invest around US $ 3 billion in education, health and civil aviation sectors in the country.
This was conveyed by the 8-member delegation during a meeting with Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury at his office.
The delegation led by the Council president Mohammad Manchab Ali said the Royal Bengal Airlines is going to be commissioned in Bangladesh soon at the initiative of the Bangladeshi expatriates.
Besides, the delegation members expressed their intention to establish English medium schools to develop the quality of education and set up hospitals in international standard to improve the quality of health service in this country.
The delegation apprised the Advisor that the Bangladeshi expatriates are now being encouraged more to make investment here following the establishment of investment-friendly climate.
They demanded of the government to set up an EPZ in Sylhet with necessary facilities for investment by the expatriates.

I think it's great for us expats to be investing in social projects like schools and the health service industry as it t has a multiplyer effect on economic development with hopefully good returns for the investor.
I guess the Greater Sylhet Development and Welfare Council is speaking in general for most Brit Bangladeshis rather than merely their own members. In any case, this is probably the largest infusion of cash into the country short of the Tata deal. It's all good.
