View Full Version : Olympia pics
Sounder December 25th, 2007, 12:29 AM Here are a few pics of Olympia. I took most of them today. The pics of the Olympics are from last week just before dusk. Is anyone else posting their pics on panoramio.com so they can be view in Google Earth? Someone needs to teach pwright1 & Rainier Meadows how to use it!

WESTSEATTLEGUY December 25th, 2007, 05:23 PM Great pics! I love seeing The Olympics in there! I didn't know the Black Hills were so close to Olympia.
Sounder December 25th, 2007, 10:30 PM The Black Hills come right down into West Olympia. I can hop on a mountain bike and be in the Black Hills in 3 minutes. Also, if you ever have an hour to kill while in the Olympia area, the McLane Creek Trail off of Delphi Rd. is worth the trip. It is a nature trail in the state forest that crosses and meanders around a beaver pond (visible below, just to the left of Black Lake in the McLane Valley) and salmon stream.

other page December 29th, 2007, 01:12 AM Nice.
These must be from x-mas eve. It was soooo bright out that day.
Thanks, again.
Sounder January 2nd, 2008, 11:01 PM Here are some pics of Capital Mall and the snow covered Black Hills from the other day. West Olympia is the major retail center of Thurston County. I took the pictures from the parking lot of the new promenade stores. The mall recently added a new movie theatre and the promenade stores on existing parking and an adjacent undeveloped, scotch broom infested lot.

Sounder January 17th, 2008, 04:02 AM Trail A may become the western terminus of our urban/rural trail system.
Seattlelife January 17th, 2008, 05:14 AM Cool pics. It looks like the water had a thin layer of ice over it?
Bond James Bond January 17th, 2008, 08:30 AM Nice nature shots. Almost makes me feel like going fishing! ;)

Yep. The McLane Valley is slightly cooler than the rest of the area due to the cold air coming down off the Black Hills. It was in the 40s when I was out and about yesterday.
