no info abouth the height but the 21st Century Tower is 55 floors and 269 m maybe this will be 300m+

I scanned from the Mazaya News, Nov 2007.

It's a big box. Not something Dubai does a lot. Not every building can be a flashy landmark. This should look good next to the Rolex.

It's just a cube...... it's hideous!!! Park Plaza was so much better!!!

^^ they probably want to maximise office space and do away with the fancy stuff
not a bad idea if it cuts costs though. capitalism at its best :D
...at night the lighting would make it nice nonetheless

Well, 21st century has that spire. This one's an office tower though so each floor should be higher, I still don't think it'll reach 300m, otherwise the render is seriously wrong.

^^ Actually it has a spire at the 21st Century facing corner, but still I doubt it will cross the 300 meters mark.

Yeah it doesn't look all that much does it, but nevertheless I think it will fit nicely in there.

^^ This is what was supposed to go there before the plot was sold to Mazaya group:

http://www.woodsbagot.com.au/images/Projects/I983.jpg

Actually if you remember, I posted once a poster where in Arabic Bin Drai Enterprises was announcing an open auction involving Park Plaza and the plot. I think it was earlier this year or by the end of last year.

That's a real shame...:ohno:

No ones impressed. But I'm not gonna cry and whine when a building in Dubai isn't a flashy landmark like every other building in Dubai.

oh come on!!
it does make sense economically anyway and if they can use some of the money that was supposed to be for the fun curves :D, i would rather they use that dough on better materials to make it sustainable

AltinD
December 31st, 2007, 04:58 PM
^^ The curvy building (Park Plazza) was not supposed to be build there by Mazaya group, but from the previous owner of that particular plot.

Since everyone in this board seems so completely convinced that the "tower" in the ad is the actual design, I suppose they should change the board to say 58 floors or whatever number it has....

I agree with you, if its 70 floors then it should be taller than this, cause its only showing 58 floors in the render. Probably that its not the final look of the tower and they must have another design :shifty:

mazaya centre is owned by the Bin Drai group so I assume that mazaya is an investment arm of Bin Drai enterprise and as such its the same group with a different tower

AltinD
January 4th, 2008, 11:07 AM
^^ But Mazaya Group that is building Sky Gardens in DIFC and have the Real-Estate market's "Al Mazaya Index" after which this tower is named, is a Kuwati group. Maybe Bin Drai is one of their UAE partners.

The blurb in the first post may state 70 storeys, but a count from the picture gives about 57.

hmmmm....... I'm not sure if it will look good on the SZR strip... It's more of a DIFC-ish looking building, IMO.

^^ Just drive in SZR and you'll see that they actually sticked to it. Also the nearby Rolex Tower does not seem having blue glass in the renders we've seen.

well the rolex tower is silver...or some shade of it...which is one of the two colours besides blue which the ppl at the DM LOVE for SZR!!!!

and yes you are right there are those pannels whihc represent a glimmer of hope for breaking up the blue and silver dominance of SZR....Hotel JAL towers too...and some of the other "older" towers as well...tower no. 1 and the rest...
