Plot of land for the Bank's office building is situated on a corner of the Block No.15 in Riga, Skanstes Street. The concept of the urban solution is to emphasize the block corner, to make it clear and sharp. It is important for the spatial system of the block and for the whole district (crossing spaces, street spaces or inner yard spaces). The proposal of the sketch forms the future space of Skanstes Street and also marks its crossing with the planned street.
The proposed building consists of two separate volumes connected with the unit of vertical junctions. The whole composition is united using one roof slab on the top of the building. Free area under the roof creates a new type of space. It is called "half inside" space. The succession: outside space - "half inside" space - inside space, makes fluent entrance into the building. The protected "half inside" entrance area makes the building act friendlier to customers and employees. The silhouette of the building complies with the silhouette and scale of the building proposal for the whole block, does not rise up the 42 m of height and retains a sharp top edge.

Must say I especially like the outside black facade, the one inside where it's "cut out" could be a little bit more creative though! But nothings perfect, it's still a cool project!

Yes, the same one who designed Europa Tower, Swedbank and the 15 storey Hanner building in Vilnius among others. It seems he is aiming to leave his footstep on more than one city. :)

That's true - it's fast. I see "Aluma" system-truss scaffolding is used there, i believe it saves time for labours.
But i am very interesting about internal works, cause it will be low-energy building, possibly one of the most sustainable in Latvia.

Damn, it looks it's going to be an excellent piece of modern architecture for Riga. I love the idea of the hanging roof. It's good to see things moving even in such bad times.

^ btw audrius ambrasas currently has 2 of some of the best baltic higrises under construction, the other being swedbank in vilnius... not bad!

Where is this building located ? Near city center or not ? From photos it seems to be in the middle of fields.

Exactly, this place used to be city's pasture some 100 years ago or even less, although it is located just to the north of the very centre, still it is counted as a central part of the city, and those big empty places remained unbuilt untill now, but fortunately there are huge plans of urbanizing this area and make it a financial district of Riga; DnB is one of the first steps! :banana:

Where is our mod??? The building is soon to be finished, and still in the thread title it's "App"!

What do you mean? So far it seems that it will look exactly like those visualisations! Cladding is not finished yet of course, but I see no reason to say that it looks "different".

Great! Cladding almost complete!

What's with that farther left wall, will it be left like that? It doesn't seem the cladding is finished there although falsework is already removed..

Why such hanging part? It is an energy eating place, so much heat needed to compensate cold all around and under.
We are not in Saudi Arabia or Egypt where there is no need for heating. Our weather would dictate us to build compact buildings with excellent insulation, good networking inside and cost effective heating system. We barely have 4 months when we don't need to heat our houses...

Yep, the official opening of the building is today. So, in reality, the height is a bit lower than planned, but at least we have a first new structure in that part of Skanstes street on the right side! Not bad for the 20-year period minimum.. ;)
