"First Time Poster" - Still learning the ropes! :)
We are now apartment dwellers in our beautiful city -
What are your thoughts on the best looking Auckland apartment buildings?
My ten cents is as follows -
Less than 10 stories - The Point
Greater than 10 stories - Metropolis

Under 10 floors - The Docks
Higher than 10 floors - I agree, Metropolis.

Definitely metropolis - one of the best apartment blocks I've ever come across. It might not be glassy and shiny like Q1, but it has an elegance and refinement that the more glitzy Q1 doesn't have!

Definately I agree, however, unfortunately they are not terribly big on the inside :ohno:

^^ I'd not know - I've never seen the apartments inside unfortunately. I think it used to be a bit of a problem with Auckland apartments - the dimensions inside never matched what the punters wanted and therefore that caused a surplus in the "small floor area" apartments. At least now they've got all that sorted out!

Apartment on the 34th floor is cool @ NZ$2000 a week to rent - 3 bedroom that is...... :)
But their 1 bedrooms are paltry - but then again it is based on a hotel model so it is to be expected.

Like many things in Auckland, yes, the rules have changed in terms of apartment sizes, however, its too late - we could write a book under the thread "Worst looking apartment blocks" (both inside and out)

Welcome mate!
Thankfully we have a few to choose from. For me its a dead heat between the new Hyatt apartments and the Metropolis. Precinct comes in third.
If I lived in either id happily relocate to the Elliott or Chancery when they are built!

^^ I'll reserve final judgement til it's finished, but I think Metropolis could have a new contender in Elliot as my favourite tower.
Also, sorry nest, I just realised I didn't welcome you to the forum, how rude of me! Welcome and all that. Good to see a thread here that sparks us all to start posting again! :)

Its 12 stories - right beside the Telecom building on the K Road ridge - fab views to the water and city - was built by Kitchener (David Henderson) who did Precinct - was one of his first - about 12 years ago.
I would insert a picture but cant work out how to. This link will take you to some pictures (I dont mean it to be an advertorial :) )

What sort of figure are you looking at for the auction? It seems to be a very reasonably sized apartment indeed!

It sold in August for just under $700,000, Higher up in the building the last sale was just under a mil.

Blimey, there go my dreams of owning a decent sized apartment in Auckland whilst doing my PhD! Sheash, that's expensive. I can see why, but still!
