very average for the gold coast. The gold coast needs bright happy designs, not this bland beigy stuff!

I disagree. While it's on the traditional side of Gold Coast design it's VERY pleasing to the eye. It will never be an eyesore and will age well. I like it. And the fins going all the way up the tower add a dash of new-age character.

BTW.....Anyone know where Budds Beach is??Is it part of the Main Beach-Surfers-Broadbeach skyline?

Budds Beach is just a locality within the suburb of Surfers Paradise.

There was a crane collapse on the site of Trilogy yesterday. Frightened the sh*t out of holidaying New Zealanders next door when the boom crashed through a fence and landed on the paving next to the pool.

Here's a link to the Courier Mail article.

Its not really that different to alot of the upmarket stuff we got during the late 90's, just on a bigger scale. I can live with the design though.

thanks ff.Pale yellow!?! Looks more like beige to me.

The main tower's form is quite interesting. It's one of those rare scrapers that will look different from every angle.

From Today's GC Bulletin:

Apartments open at Budds Beach
16Dec05

IT has long been dwarfed by Surfers Paradise, but Budds Beach is now coming of age.

The suburb, once thought to be on the 'wrong side' of the highway, is now known as a luxury residential and tourism precinct.

Building of the Trilogy apartment project, worth more than $85 million, will be completed this week, cementing the suburb's status.

The finishing touches will be put on the third and final tower, completing the project that began when the land was bought in 1998 for about $6 million.

The project was a joint venture of New Zealand-backed Cypress Properties and local developer David Cherry, with sons Anthony and Darryl Cherry, through James Anthony Developments.

David Cherry said Budds Beach was the ideal location for the development.

"It is marvellous," he said.

"When we bought the site some people maybe thought it was a second-tier site, but all of a sudden it is better than being in Surfers. You can walk across the street and be in town."

The project, bound by Cypress and Ferny avenues, boasts 163 apartments, with 29 still on the market.

Those for sale range in price from about $408,000 for a one-plus-one apartment to more than $1.6 million for a penthouse.

"It has come up lovely and we are unashamed to say that," said Mr Cherry.

"We have done the best we can under really difficult circumstances."

He said the Gold Coast town plan had changed during the course of the development, throwing up some challenges.

The area was rezoned from a height limit of seven storeys to 30 storeys.

He said the project was 'upgraded' as a result.

The third tower, originally to be nine stories, ended up at 22 storeys.

"Even though we have had a lot of delays, we have not compromised in any way what we have tried to provide for the buyers," he said.

He said the project was attractive because it was low density.

Trilogy took two years to build.

Mr Cherry has been involved in developments including the Estuary waterfront estate in Coombabah and Emerald Sands in Surfers Paradise.

He is planning a high rise in Southport and is involved in the $70 million prestige 14-level Allure tower at Surfers Paradise.
