Pule January 10th, 2008, 07:26 AM I like it becuase of the glass.
joburg January 10th, 2008, 08:16 AM Looks good! I wonder who is going to move in....
hsark January 10th, 2008, 01:09 PM bloody hell thats a terrible name for a square building unless there is in fact a circle inside the building but thats just lame

Jakes1 January 10th, 2008, 05:21 PM bloody hell thats a terrible name for a square building unless there is in fact a circle inside the building but thats just lame
The inner circle? hehe... sounds like a clique from cape town will move in. The cranes are up on this site. Anything that will masque old mutuals horrible building gets a thumbs up from me!
joburg January 10th, 2008, 06:32 PM the illuminati
NickABQ January 10th, 2008, 09:18 PM Looks rather squat, but at 17 floors I'm not complaining too much. :)
Mo Rush January 10th, 2008, 09:27 PM At least you're getting more than the 7f buildings we get in Cape Town.
dysan1 January 10th, 2008, 11:06 PM yeah i agree its an odd name for a square block. Kinda so so design, but the glass is nice. It just doesnt look 17F... but good to see a bit more height coming to sandton
KomSakkie January 11th, 2008, 01:16 AM From what I read the name was derived from the slot of land that is flanked on all sides by other large buildings, rather than the shape or flow of the building.
NickABQ January 11th, 2008, 05:43 AM Surely not a flat roof right? In the render I think I can kinda make out some sorta roof structure maybe I think lol. 3 years ago people would've been going nuts over this.
Pule January 11th, 2008, 10:31 AM How many floors is the RMB building in Sandton?
Pule January 11th, 2008, 10:38 AM How many floors is the RMB building in Sandton?
I mean the blueish one, on the right side of the pic, with the antenna on top.

joburg January 11th, 2008, 10:43 AM The building above (the Joburg Stock Exchange) is only about 10F I think. The RMB building is about 18F.
And you're right Nick... a few months ago we would have been jumping up and down about a 17F... These days we're a little blase about it. :D
Pule January 11th, 2008, 11:35 AM Opps wrong image, I meant the current image.

It would be nice to see this JSE building have an extra 7+ floors.

i guess it will make a impact on the skyline but its strange im also not really excited about this but don't get me wrong i love the development its just that theres so much going on at the moment
KomSakkie January 12th, 2008, 12:23 AM Its seems to be the same kind of feeling towards the Seers on maude. Dont really see too many updates or discussion on that. Is it that we are being over-loaded with this building boom.
NickABQ January 12th, 2008, 05:44 AM Which is funny cause I think Seers on Maude is by far the most important project in Sandton right now! Lol...however they are taking they're sweet time, hard to stay excited when updates are every few months!
:D
Durbsboi January 14th, 2008, 09:47 AM Nice looking building, should be higher tho :(

Durbsboi March 14th, 2008, 09:03 AM That McDonals will really spoilt the site of this building, tear it down & build a classier looking McD's, I think Sandton deserves that.
Pule March 14th, 2008, 09:22 AM That McDonals will really spoilt the site of this building, tear it down & build a classier looking McD's, I think Sandton deserves that.
The worst thing is that every other building area looks nice. I hate that McD building.
nomnolence March 14th, 2008, 10:05 AM That McDonals will really spoilt the site of this building, tear it down & build a classier looking McD's, I think Sandton deserves that.
Rip it down, but don't rebuild it. Rather have it as a pedestrian level shop as part of a big building. SA has way too many clumsy little outposts like this McD to those mickey-mouse-looking 3-storey office buildings that dot our highways. Big, with several firms in one building, is way better.
eyrie March 14th, 2008, 11:47 AM :)nice glass.they could've taken three of the hefty corners and plonked it on the remaining one that way the floor space is still there and we get more height
SYDNEY March 14th, 2008, 09:27 PM This is a MacD in downtown Auckland .... it would look great on the afore-mentioned site ;)

Jakes1 March 15th, 2008, 11:05 AM Nice pic syd... For some odd reason our mcd's were fashioned on the american model... They all look the same - and they could all have been built in US suburbia.
SYDNEY March 15th, 2008, 12:17 PM Nice pic syd... For some odd reason our mcd's were fashioned on the american model... They all look the same - and they could all have been built in US suburbia.
You welcome mate ... don't worry, we also have those old fashioned models  ... the contemporary ones only started popping up about 3 years ago when the McCafes were launched ;)
Pule March 16th, 2008, 01:21 PM Nice one Syd.
Durbsboi March 17th, 2008, 09:20 AM Even the new stlye KFC's look more classy than the McD's :(
SA BOY March 19th, 2008, 08:57 AM Still no BK in Sa?
Jakes1 March 19th, 2008, 11:40 AM no, and I doubt whether they will come. A pity...
Martsbra March 19th, 2008, 02:27 PM Heard they better than Mcdonalds, and quicker
Pule March 28th, 2008, 09:52 PM This one is coming alright, I they are busy with the second floor.
KomSakkie March 28th, 2008, 11:09 PM Have not heard from you in a while Pule, nice to see you back to scouting around.
I have a question though, is the road that this site goes onto that crummy little one poking out into the suburbs or is it somthiong more sutable.
It just makes me wonder as these developments like this one and the Emporer seem to be cut off from the rest of Sandton and seem not to be being correctly incorporate into the public environment on the whole. I guess the best example of what I think Sandton should be aiming for is a continuous urban environment like that of Mandela Square with it residential and commercial componets incorporated effectively to form mutural beneficiaries, instead of these fenced buildings or massive malls.

Pule April 29th, 2008, 07:18 AM They moving fast on this one, I think it will be comleted either by year end or early next year. Another addition to Sandton skyline.
KomSakkie July 9th, 2008, 04:34 PM Its getting difficult to find all these different projects....
Again.....took some photos yesterday....beginning to make its mark.....they have already completed the entrance thing with glass and every thing.....its too reflective for my tastes but I thing the tower itself will look much better.

Pule October 9th, 2008, 11:12 AM ^^ Saw that yesterday T.
Inertia October 9th, 2008, 08:55 PM Topped out I think?
Pule October 10th, 2008, 10:21 AM ^^ not yet.
Pule October 26th, 2008, 12:42 PM Glass panels are still rising but the floors have stopped rising at 15 floors, isn't it gonna be a 17 floor building?
KomSakkie October 26th, 2008, 02:14 PM I think it has two or three basement levels which make up the rest......remember reading something on edge properties that it was only to be 15F from pavement........It still has quite an impact....:)
Pule October 26th, 2008, 05:31 PM Thanks for the explanation KS, I thought it will be 17 from the ground.
Pule October 26th, 2008, 05:33 PM Thanks KS.

I posted it before so no new info but all the same hope it helps.
Inertia October 26th, 2008, 10:57 PM Like I said, this one's topped out. Bit of a stumpster but what can you do ?
Pule November 11th, 2008, 09:01 AM At what floor are the glass panels at the moment?
t-bang! November 11th, 2008, 04:28 PM it seems like they're stack, i pass there everyday and there's not much change.
Pule December 11th, 2008, 08:50 AM Glass panels seem to have started going up again but I love the shiney middle ones as the onces on the sides looks a bit blur.
Pule January 20th, 2009, 09:49 AM Have they resumed with the installation of glass?
t-bang! January 20th, 2009, 10:04 AM its been quite, apparently there's shortage of that specialised glass, all glass is destined for Dubai
Pule January 20th, 2009, 10:12 AM Sh*t, that's bad.
waltjie February 6th, 2009, 03:54 PM Drove past this morning.... it is looking GOOOOOOOOD!!!!

Johannesburg - The Chinese steel giant Sinosteel has acquired a prime Sandton office building for R500m.
The Inner Circle building, bought from Edge Properties, is still under construction and expected to be completed by July this year. It is situated on the corner of Rivonia and Grayston avenues in the heart of the Sandton business district.
Sinosteel has already made significant investments in the country and has, inter alia, two joint ferrochrome ventures - Tubatse Chrome with Samancor, and ASA Metals with LimDev.
Sinosteel SA managing director Fengzhi Nan says the group is also on the lookout for opportunities in various manganese projects.
Lawrence Azar, Edge Properties' business development manager, describes the property agreement as a landmark deal in the current property conditions.
Coronation Fund Managers' property portfolio manager, Anton de Goede, finds it interesting that the group has bought the building rather than leasing it, as most other international corporations do in South Africa.
He says the purchase of this office space will make a dent in the new office space available and near completion in Sandton.
According to the latest research report on office vacancies by the SA Property Owners' Association (SAPOA) and the Investment Property Databank (IPD), in the fourth quarter of last year there was 114 700 sq m of new Sandton office space available for rental.
Inertia March 9th, 2009, 01:36 PM Hmm and this building is directly behind the Chinese construction bank

Cornetto McFlurries! First time i'm seeing that! Haven't been to a McD's in over 3 years. I'd rather starve than eat the junk they call food (not the ice cream:lol:)
Inertia March 20th, 2009, 01:20 PM Maccy dees saved my ass that day. As well as letting me catch a few snaps of Sandton
Pule May 13th, 2009, 09:45 AM So this with lights on this morning as I came in very early, damn its a beauty.
Inertia May 13th, 2009, 08:57 PM Yep every light one very floor is on at night, they must be testing them. Looks good
Pule August 17th, 2010, 07:46 PM It seems like Sino Steel is taking office here as they are now placing what seems to be Electronic signage on top of this building. The signage is huge.
goliath01 August 18th, 2010, 09:54 AM It seems like Sino Steel is taking office here as they are now placing what seems to be Electronic signage on top of this building. The signage is huge.
just hope that it doesnt spoil the building...
Pule August 18th, 2010, 10:46 AM ^^ it actually looks cool but will take a pic once it's done and you guys can decide.
Jakes1 August 18th, 2010, 11:06 AM This building is still very empty. the new addition on top is only for the name (SINOSTEEL PLAZA). Think it looks ok thus far (at least it is not a Sandton pyramid). This is also the building the use in the new CellC add with Trevor - you can see RMB and Investec during the add. I should have been a location scout.
Pule August 18th, 2010, 11:55 AM ^^ oh yeah, I see that Cell C advert.

SA BOY January 16th, 2011, 08:27 AM China corner?
dysan1 January 16th, 2011, 12:45 PM as said before, i think this is a terribly tacky building compared to many of the others going up. No wonder it is basically standing empty still. Can count 7 of the 10 office floors being empty...
Jakes1 January 16th, 2011, 11:46 PM blue glass is so 1985. this entire area has a few stunning horrible buildings. like old mutual, the china one, this one and mcdonald's
