We should honor improvements in Almaty in 2007 and shame things that didn't change or, worse, digressed...

So, let's cast up to 5 nominations in each of the following categories:

* Best improvement of the year {ex: construction of the new road overpasses, something that made living in Almaty more comfortable/safe/money saving}
* Best announcement of the year {ex: Almaty's to host Asian Games in 2011}

* Best building constructed in 2007
* Worst building constructed in 2007

* Most attractive building of the year
* Best residential/office/shopping center of the year (overall)

* Biggest disappointments of the year {as in economy, construction, historical preservation, pollution, etc}

* Best and worst business of the year {nominate one best and one worst}
* Most improved business of the year {list a few, if you like}

and finally,

* Best regional project


At the end of the month we could probably tally and name the shame and honor of the year. Things like that are news candy for stations and have greater chance of making the city news.

The list can and probably will expand. I know for the most part it will be symbolic. However, it may spur some action.

I would suggest you to write the word as 'honour', not 'honor'.

Sometimes the differences between British and American English make people confused. I remember, back in my school day, two of my classmates were arguing over the correct way of spelling “apologise”. One of them said that “apologize” was correct, and the other insisted on “apologise”. Our teacher brought an end to that argument by saying that both of them were right.
The fact is that many words are spelt differently in British and American English.
Americans spell: honor, color, humor etc. by dropping “u” whereas Brits spell: colour, honour etc. Likewise many American verbs ending in -ize (organize, specialize etc.) are spelt with –ise in British English. Unfortunately, as you know, there are many other differences between British and American English.

Also travelled and traveled, cancelled/canceled, etc. А вообще не так уж и много различий.

There are some other grammatical differences as well. I wouldn’t say that they are overwhelming and yet they make people confused

Ну, по Алматы - думаю это мега-мост на Рыскулова через Сейфуллина и Белинского, действительно удобно и красиво! Если нет желания размазывать овсянку по тарлке, то можно для упрощения подведения итогов просто назвать - развязки Алматы!

Наверное проект G-4 city... жаль, что идея так и почила в бозе. Если из реализуемых наверное новость по новому терминалу аэропорта Алматы (надеюсь, что будет удобнее чем CDG в Париже). Еще наверное стоит отметить ТЦ Алмалы.

Так как Рахат Тауэрс и Есентай еще не сданы в эксплуатацию, думаю, можно здание 1-е здания комплекса РФЦА - офис Казкома...

БЦ Старая площадь на Советской/Панфилова! Уродец номер один в городе...

CDC-1 (знаю, что построен давно, но ведь правда самое красивое из современных зданий).

Мега Алма-Ата, отлично реализованный проект! Из офисников Нурлы-Тау (хотя говорят служба эксплуатации там стремная). Из жилых комплексов наверное Столичный центр... черт, все три проекта от Базис-А

Строительный кризис в Казахстане. Второе перенос открытия и закрытия Азиады в Астану. Массовый снос старой застройки в центре Алматы.

Нет, все-таки рахат Таурс был полностью построен в 2007 году и там люди работают, а офис Казкома закрыт забором. так что Рахат.
