Oslo is the capital, and the largest city in Norway. Oslo was founded by the Norwegian viking king Harald Hardråde in 1048. In 1624 the city burned down after a fire. The city was rebuilt, on the other side of the river, and was named Christiania, later Kristiania. The first university in Norway was founded in Oslo in 1811, while many other landmark buildings as Royal Place, the Parliament, National Theater and the Stock Exchange was built in the 19th century.

Wea, there is hard to gett a good skyline image, but in downtown Oslo, there is many skyscrapers, in Oslo there is about 115 High-rise buildings, two over 100m.

There was plann for many High-rise buildings arount Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel, but it is now cancelled, just two on 16 floor did get approved.

Very good photos Nightstar77, the photo who was taken of Oslo Plaza and Porthuset was very good, and the photo from Helsfyr was great, a good photo because of there were so many High-rise buildings there, tht they was not so beautiful exept Helsfyr Panorama.

Looks lovely place to live
Comfortable and spacious place with high standard of living!

But no skyline....

Anyway, it is definitely nice city,

Sorry for that old reply. What i probably tried to say was that Oslo has high-rise buildings. Some belived Oslo didn't have any, i had to make sure, Oslo is the city with most high-rise buildings over 100m in Scandinavia. Oslo has also some 115-120 high-rise buildings, but that not many in world scale.
Yes, Olso got high-rise building and two buildings which you can consider as "skyscrapers". but two buildings aren't many.

I can understand the want for a city to have an impressive CBD but If every big city had one it would make them so generic.. whats wrong with a place having a little character without having big blocks on its horizon? Its a question I doubt people would ever agree on really

Why does people see a contradiction in having a nice well-kept (and preserved) and alive historic town, in addition to newer tall buildings to signal a modern, vibrant and growing ('cause it is) city? Oslo has the potential to be everything good in one package, but it's not there yet.

whole scandinavia doesnt have great skyline. The towers or structures that dominate the skyline are church spires which is not impressive. Office buildings are not 50+ storeys.Mostly they are 5 storeys tall.

I see one enormous box and not much else. 3.5.

This is rate our skylines, though, so I'm not sure it's fair to others to include "cozyness" or the close-up beauty of the lowrises.

Just imagine it with a few scrapers. It would be a perfect comination of new and old....

Hm...boring, out of style, unmodern... these are jus a few nice words about this skyline, which doesn't even exist!!!

Here is the closest thing i got to a "Tallinn" shot. The 14th century fortress and the 21st century highrises and the Vippetangen Silo with it's landmark location at the tip of Peninsula that divides east from west:

Pipervika is the western bay with the city hall at the end and Tjuvholmen at the westside - highrises around Ring1 has clearly not been designed to look good from the sea as a few of them have blank concrete facades to the south:
