dunno where market rise is and harbour town looks pretty boring. ill be looking at stratton and woodys the most. there was a core pour last monday on stratton so hopefully u can see more than the core box now from the mitchell

i went to the consistution centre today and it was dead boring! the steel part of the roof is done and they have just started to put cladding on the northern side. its gonner look great!

tonight the red woodside logo was light up, and the woodside sign was lit up in white! the whole sign is now illuminated and looking awsome!

I drove past the city yesterday.
The butterfly clip aint far away now. its currenlt being erected/built

from southperth/victoria park you can only just see the butterfly clip. with it was 10m taller so it has more of an effect from more angles...

i went there today to see some action but the gay workers were on strkie. the st geroges tce gate was fullly open and un-guarded for anyone to just walk in

My first look at the "Butterfly clip"
looks as if a spire will come up out of that shaft thing attatched to the Western side of the building below the butterfly ornament,best seen in the second pic:)

despite being too short, I really like this tower! great design and facade.

yes its a thin short pole but this is not the spire it is at best a SMALL flag pole.

I thought this tower was originally gonna top 40 stories with half of the building devoted to a 4-star hotel and serviced apartments. I go away for a year and a half and come back and see this dwarf in its place. What happened?

the hotel is planned to front hay street... though its old hold [15 levels stamford plaza] might be reborn with hotel rooms and apartments to make it viable

As a general comment, you have to say that Woodside has failed to create a landmark building for itself and missed a great opportunity. If it had accepted some minor compromises on floor plate size, the building could easily have hit 150m plus.

But I still think Perth is lucky with this building cos the first press reports in 2000 did say that it would be 29 or 30 levels. It could have turned out like Forrest Centre (30 levels - 110m) for example. Instead, 126m is OK and the bulk does offset QV1 well. The facade from the southern side is good, although it does look crap from Freeway North, where the silver box-like detail doesn't exactly emphasise its height.

Incidentally, if any forumers want unique pics of Woodside or both sides of skyscraper alley (looking towards CP, AMP and Bank West, let me know and I can give you access to my office on level 21 Forrest Centre (I don't have a digital camera unfortunately). The views are amazing though.

Looks very good in first pic and crap in last, but that's because of the angle.

Went windsurfing on swan river earlier and Woodside looks good from there too.

Check out the new massive digital advertising at the top of I think it's the BCG? building on the esplanade (the silver one) - at night it looks superb - goes all round the building.

Nah, I was with a company in West Perth on Kings Park road (opposite Dumas House). It's a commercial property management company.... The Werret Property Group. Looks like I might have taken my first big step on the road to becoming a property developer.:D

woodside has really turned out to be a great addition to the skyline. So when do we get another scraper to "impact" the skyline?? would it be the first of the emu brewery towers -89m or Icon at 131m? Its also going to be good to get some 50-90m scrapers gradually drop into the CBD over next 5 years to "denisfy" the cityscape!

i can see the next "big thing" the icon tower. right now the tallest u/c is stratton/westralian. i too would like to see 50-90m towers go up around the place esp behind the terrace (it makes the area look more dense;) stratton and cc will help alot.
