This is the fastest progress I've ever seen. Are they working literally 24 hrs a day? I'm serious.

Is it a joke? No they are normal in works.

A strong rumor says that due to new antisismic rules, constructor has to reinforce foudations (pillars). This explains why the roof isn't lift yet and:
-cost of reinforcement is evaluated to 85-100 million euros
-delay of delivering the stadium could be 2013 ! :bash:

Lille urban community doesn't want to pay the surtaxe for works and Constructor doesn't want to pay it too :ohno:

Studies managed by constructor are due to be released around next october to know the final solution :?

Lille colours are red and blue, but I hate a stadium with different colours for each tier or stand.

This one could be the first major stadium to have... pink seats.

Not really the first one, dear !

Not exactly because nothing has been reallly confirmed!

The news was leaked by a political & news website clearly of "conservative" political side (droite in french) aka with the opinions of politic UMP party (party of president nicolas Sarkozy) and you have to know that Lille is managed by oppoiste poiltic party -> socialist party with martine Aubry mayor of lille and candidate for the next presidential elections :|

It is the same website (Atlantico) which leaked the info that Dominique strauss kahn was in troubles in New york for a tentative of agression sexual

Sort of theory of conspiracy led by this site

http://www.atlantico.fr/decryptage/lille-losc-grand-stade-metropole-zone-sismique-surcout-travaux-securite-141635.html

Eiffage , the constructor hasn't really confirmed studies of that nature.

We have to wait because all of this could be called a piece of BS soon :dunno:

Works continues they are working the streets surroundings the stadium and the building concerning hôtels & restaurants continue too :)

@laurence-> lift is around september they made an attempt to verify if everything was ok. they moved up the roof by 8cm one month ago. Some failure appeared on certains valves. then they delayed the operation for replacing with new valves certain parts of the mechanism.

@Ash-> i maintain stunning because i imagine 50000 people sheltered by this roof and watching matches in good conditions in the middle of winter(cold wind, snow) . We have this ! We 'll belong to the circle of stadiums that can offer it to their public

mmm connections? Lille will play champions league VS Inter & CSKA moscow, Park has a chance to have a good exposition, a thing he didn't meet during his years in monaco :)

He will probably help to sell some jerseys in korea? :dunno:

But it would be cool if a korean firm could give the name for the stadium (hyundai, kia, samsung or Lg) who know? :|

Remains of a bastion by Vauban under Lille’s stadium
Published on 26 August 2011.

Lille, 18 August 2011, Art Media Agency (AMA).

Archaeologists from the Inrap (National Institute of Archaeological Research) are currently conducting preventive excavations on the site of the old Grimonprez–Jooris stadium, north of Lille’s citadel, before construction starts on a new sports field. The excavations began on 1 August and the archaeologists have discovered the remains of a bastion by Vauban, dating back to the seventeenth century.

The discovered remains date from the years following the conquest of Lille by Louis XIV in 1667. It is a part of the remains of a “flat piece”, built to the north of the Vauban citadel. The archaeologists have also cleared away a part of the moat, situated under the north stand of the stadium, and a half–moon shaped terrace.

The bastion was demolished and its moat filled in 1955 for the construction of the athletics stadium that closed in 2004. This part of the citadel was not listed as a historical monument so its foundations remained under the stadium.

When the archaeologists dug a trench, they were surprised to discover not only the bed of the Bucquet – a watercourse that was mentioned as early as the thirteenth century –, but also a canalisation dating back to the bastion’s construction. However, the moat has been filled and the team will have to leave the site next week. Despite these somewhat important discoveries, they will not prevent the construction of the new stadium which is expected to be completed before the municipal elections in 2014.

Just to make it clear - this is not at the current construction site, posted it just as a 'fun fact' ;)

That's good idea. Personally I worked for LG Electronics for 3 years (retired 6 years ago) and I will suggest the owner of LG to giver the naming sponsorship to the new stadium for 400m Euros

@michal-> yes they founded some vestiges and Vauban is the direct reason why First stadium Grimonprez renovation was cancelled :|

@carrera-> 400 millions,! damn i'm sold for this amount
But you know some major events (concerts, spectacles) will be organized there. i think the naming will be huge

It's possible they can start without it but with the actual performances of the club+major international concerts (lille is near belgium, netherlands, england) they can have a big deal imo.

Yes I read. I read well. But I have seen enough stadium construction pics to tell that those top tiers are nothing like the renderings, and I dont see them going back any further with those solid cement walls behind them supporting the roof.

you say rubbish :ohno:

You know some shots have perspective and deepness squizzed by the lens.

Then please wait to see that the renders will be 100% identic to reality.

How can you doubt about the powerful of this satdium? :?

Don't you see how spectacular & massive it is?

Trust me and look the pics i posted, the sensation to have a sort of U.F.O landed on the city is true!

It's not too flat! It will be like it is!

Trust me you haven't seen how is the stadium is outside to understand the inclinaison of tribunes!

The higher tiers is steep! You have the first with a reasonable angle of view! I hope some of you will come one day in this stadium to understand that you don't need to have another tribunes a la santiago bernabeu to see well the pitch.

A friend even said to me "i will never buy a ticket season in the higher tiers because i would feel ill, it is too high for me "

Trust me the tribune are normal and well thought.

The fashion to have steep tribunes seen in certain european stadiums that relegates people "in the skies" and don't see correctly the players won't happen here

If you want to not see correctly the players go to madrid

if you're going to say anything not super-duper-extatic about the stadium, be ready to get bashed ;)

I personally think this ground is modern and that's it - neither beautiful, nor interesting. Of course according to some people it beats Bernabeu and all the to stadiums by a mile ;)

You can see it in the scale model above, which shows that the lower tier is pitched just about right, considering the upper tiers are steeper (as they need to be, to provide optimum "c" values).

The stadium might look a little generic on the inside, but considering where Lille play right now, I think the fans won't mind that too much!

Please show me another stadium here in Europe which can beat lille arena right now ?

I wait for an concrete example and please don't say me " Turin, stockholm, Amsterdam" or what else! because FRANKLY Lille is above them due to the small arena box inside mechanism.

Only st petersburg could be a decent opponent due to its higner capacity and outdoor pitch mechanism ALREADY SEEN and SEEN in JAPAN, EUROPE or USA

Why? I find it more luxurious (vip, concourses) but except that i can't even find just ONE innovation st petersburg has :dunno:

And clearly in this field Lille put it KO like the rest of so common european projects.

This discussion about the size is like an endless road that leads to nothing...

1. This stadium isn't finished yet, there is still lots of work to do before it's completed.
2. Most of us, except the Lillois (Axelferis and Slam321, both say by the way it actually looks like a 50.000-seater), haven't seen the stadium in real life.

Let's wait for the final result, I'm surely going to see it in real life when it's finished. :)

@Axelferis, Donbass Arena with all the surroundings is the best in Europe and will be the best after Lille Arena will be finished. Just look at the surroundings of the Donbass Arena and look then to Lille, the difference is HUGE. The surroundings of a stadium are very important, all that concrete looks like sh*t.

What people has to take in count is Lille has not finished its first ring of seats. Trust me when it will be finished it looks like a 50k in stadium configuration and i daren't imagine how deep it will be in Arena configuration because it will have 4 rings of seats!

Even the best european indoors arena can't propose this you read? 4 rings of seats

It will be intimidating for adverse teams during international matchs of basket or handball

But personally I know and I can say defaults about this stadium, and if I say it seems like a 50,000 seats stadium, it's because that's reality. I can't see my interest to lie and if you think, that's wrong because you see it only on pic, I can't agree with you. :)

It depends the choice of organizer, if they prefers choose the tallest stadiums for semifinals or the most moderns.
But I think it will be Marseille and Lyon for semi and the Stade de France for final.
For the number of games, it depends if all stadiums will be ready for the competition. For the moment there is 11 stadiums but for Lens or Nancy there is difficulties.

Havent visit Lille thread for a while....And Guess what? Same old arguments and insults from the usual suspects going on... Remember the thread got closed not so long ago..Lol...

Anyway. Its looks like its taking good shape now. The height of the project is quite low, but I dont see why this is a problem. Many stadiums have pitches below ground level, so they have a low appearance in the sky line. So a low profile isnt a problem. Actually I like it.

Actually it blends in perfectly in the environment surrounding the stadium, with low-rise buildings on all sides... BUT hey, you know how it is... for some people only size matters (especially to compensate for the fact that they have it small ).

Work is continuing

Following the lifting of the structure of the roof of the stadium, which took place on October 5, Eiffage teams continue the work, including the next steps are:

• Establishment of high scourges: the metal structures connecting the roof of the stadium to its side shell. Teams Eiffage Steel Construction started in October laying 10 plagues on the west side and 8 on the east side, from a total of 66 plagues. According areas tower cranes, tower cranes or platforms are used. It takes about two days for the installation of a plague.

• Assembly of the plateau of the Box Shows: Currently, the board is being assembled on the southern half of the lawn. As mega-beams, the set that covers the box shows consists of prefabricated, transported to Lille and assembled on site.

The tray will be important dimensions:

- Length: 73 meters
- Width: 55 meters
- Area: 4000 m2
- Weight: 5500 tons
- Height: 4.50 meters

This work requires about 45 people, welders through surveyors, to adjust the position of elements to be assembled. The first elements of the plateau were received on the site in early October.

• Installation of cladding: they are the skins in perforated plates that connect the platform with high envelope stage. They meet two objectives:
- Darken the interior of the enclosure
- Respond to the acoustic characteristics

• In parallel, structural work continues, they are made of 75%. The teams work to fill the 4 corners of the stadium that had been interrupted to raise the frame. Today, the bleachers levels N0 and N1 were installed allowing for the first time to do the tour on both levels. The four mega-poles are gradually filled as the floors are made. Remember, the mega-poles had a U-shape to serve as a guide during the hoisting operation.

By the end of year roof works should be finished.
Or in january.

The original schedule was:

-March 2012-> delivery of the stadium
-April to june 2012-> tests of the whole equipment (electricity, mottorizations of roof and ground,...)
-July 2012 = opening match

But now we have to stay cautious... imo i thinl they will be ready around august-september in the better of case

And why would that be funny? Most stadium sponsors have close links with local market and want to be visible to their partners exactly at that location. Of course at the same time they can seek worldwide attention, but that doesn't mean searching for a partner around Lille is anything bad.

Axel, no deal is sealed just like that. You're talking about heavy mln € price, so why the hell would anyone expect the sponsor to be sealed before first seat even got installed?! Poland is a progressive market that is not in crisis (at least theoretically) and still only one venue of Euro 2012 has cofirmed any naming rights deal so far, while all 4 are in operation already. You're really grumpy at times. No one expects Lille to be London or NY because there's oly one NY and London and we all know that...

According to the president of Eiffage the company which is building the stadium:

-only 24 h(48h previously scheduled!!!) is needed now to transform the football configuration to indoor configuration (the 6000/30000 seats arena box for concerts or basket) . This is due to a change in the mechanism they have chosen to elevate the ground. Then the result is it will be more powerful and faster

-Eiffage has proposed to Lille urban community to take in charge the naming rights process

Stop lies!!! :bash:

Lille has a unique way to move its pitch! It's unique in the world like sapporo has its own way .

Lille doesn't need to monopolize an external field to rest its pitch unlikely what they do in Gelsenkirchen or Arnhem!

It's a waste of space and not worthy when comes money question. I prefer to have a nice surroundings place that an unusable land.

And they will use the system that is used everywhere -> artificial lights are 100% integrated below the moveable part of pitch.

You have just to wait until march 2012 because the first tests will be made at this period  and you'll verify the genuine thing!

Everybody will be amazed by this capacity to transform a stadium in this way.

I seriously doubt that you even know why Gelsenkirchen and Arnhem have fully retractable pitches (like Sapporo has) if you raise arguments as stupid as waste of space. Good luck hosting a concert in Lille without risking the pitch quality. Good luck covering one half of pitch with the other without compromising grass quality. So obviously it's cheaper, because it's not as good as the more expensive solution. But the bottom line is - neither me, nor you know how it's going to work out in the end. By Comparison, for example at the Parc des Princes the Business Seats prices are between €3,500/year and €9,500/year (per seat, and without the European matches)...and at the Stade de France, the Business Seat prices (suites/boxes excluded of course) are between €299 per sporting event* and €699 per sporting event*.
(* prices only for each football and rugby games: France national teams, national cups finals & Top 14 games)

Under 200 EUR for a season is the normal price you pay in germany for supporter/cheap sections.

I pay 160 in Leverkusen, which is one of the top teams in germany. Business seasoncard in Leverkusen costs 4000, which is very cheap a well because especially in Leverkusen you get in touch with a lot of interesting business contacts.

So nothing wrong with the price chart in Lille.

Axelferis

2 factors must be taken when we compare to paris for example :

-Lille & paris don't play in the same category about prices: Paris is one of the richest region in Europe and have 10 million people living there . Thus 10 X the size of Lille population, prices can't be the same for an entrepreneur :2cents:

-Another element is the number of business seats in parc des princes which is very low compare to Lille:

Lille has 7000 business seats( divided into 3 level of service):
*Business loundge
*Club House
*Fan club

Parc des princes doesn't even have 1000 business (divided into 3 level of services)
:bowtie:

This is explains the difference of prices.

And it's one reason for the parc des princes qataris investors want to have a dedicated business belt(or at least increasing & improving what exists today) to enable a much more convincing number of business seats.

Because british stadias are waaay too small. In Germany most of the stadia are quite big and sometimes like the Dortmund stand very cheap (7-8 EUR).

If I would manage a british club, especially London or Manchester, I would simply build a +100.000 Arena with reasonable prices and you will have gained the biggest fanbase and high mercandise revenue.

For most PL Clubs buliding a stadium under 100.000 is too small.

Yes, a lot of German stadiums are bigger than British ones in terms of capacity. That is partly because you still have terraced areas in German stadiums, allowing for cheaper tickets and a larger capacity. Standing at British stadiums was banned after the Taylor Report into the Hillsborough disaster. Look up the Hillsborough disaster on the net if you want to know why the change was necessary.

If I would manage a british club, especially London or Manchester, I would simply build a +100.000 Arena with reasonable prices and you will have gained the biggest fanbase and high mercandise revenue.

UK clubs aren't given handouts by the local authorities to build new stadiums. They are entirely self-financed and privately owned, therefore the clubs themselves would have to bear the entire cost of construction. Given that a 60k-seater stadium can cost upwards of £300m, how much do you think a 100k-seater would cost?

For most PL Clubs buliding a stadium under 100.000 is too small.

Actually, a stadium with a capacity greater than 30,000 is too BIG for most Premier League clubs. Unless playing against the likes of ManU or Liverpool, teams like Blackburn, Bolton and Wigan do not sell out their stadiums. Stadiums which are considerably smaller than 100k! There are several others around the 40k mark, and then the likes of Sunderland whose ground holds more than 45k but is seldom full.

Building a large capacity stadium is nowhere near as simply as you seem to think it is.

Losc forecasts 25000 average of seasonnal buyers/subscribers

You can trust that the "big matches" against Lyon, paris,Marseille will be full :okay:
I think the reality will be between 25000 and 30000 .

The 2012/2013 subscriptions campaign has debuted last month for the ancient subscribers.

For the new public it begins this thursday

I am of this one who will take on this thursday my seasonnal ticket

here the website:

http://www.50000-emotions.com/categories-tarifs/

Wow so it would be just over half full on match days, wont that greatly affect the atmosphere during football matches?

What's the expectations of the venue being able to attract major events from other existing venues? I'm assuming the venue will be relying heavily on other type of events since it is multi purpose. Seems like it'll be able to host all sorts of events.

1/ don't worry for the "normal matchs" . The stadium is being hyped here and people wait to see it for real to dare take their tickets too. I talk about the general public.

2/ yes all sort of events are coming. And they have increased the original number of events (concerts,etc...)
They changed the time to transform the stadium. initially they would have need 48 hours to transform the football configuration into a concert configuration.
Now they just need 24 hours to do that and then increase the cycle of events  . This is due to a change in the mechanism used they said which will be more powerful and faster. :)

Tomorrow i'll get my reservation for seasonal ticket

Even converted to all seater, Munich, Dortmund, Berlin is +60.000. Most of the Bundesliga have 45-50.000, even some clubs in the second league. But the english league is much more famous and the clubs are more recognized and won more titles.

Borussia Park which is a 50k had cost 50 Mio EUR, a 80k-100k can be build for under 100 Mio.
Premierleague clubs have more income an are financed by investors. A team could easily build a proper stadium instead buying Fernando Torres for 60 Mio.

Ok, but England is more football crazy than Germany and the Premier League is the most followed. Making proper prices would easily fill a lot of big stadias.

I agree with you regarding the first part of your post, but not about the second one (not to mention that the numbers you gave are wrong actually ;)).

First of all, as we've already discussed several times, Lille stadium doesn't have 7,000 business seats, because this number also includes the private suites/boxes (and the suites are not included here in our discussion, especially because the prices & ticketing policy of private suites are 'a bit' different, whatever the stadium).

Here are the numbers at Lille (source: Eiffage & the French "Grands Stades Euro 2016 Commission"): 4,965 Business Seats (which is still quite a respectable number, BTW), divided into 3 hospitality packages (+ 1,842 suite seats divided into 76 private suites/boxes).

Secondly, as a matter of fact, Parc des Princes has 2,007 Business Seats (and not less than 1,000 as you wrote | source: SESE & Préfecture de Police de Paris), which is not that bad for a 40 years old 48K stadium. These Business Seats are divided into 5 hospitality packages (Club Paris; Open; Privilège; First; Prestige).
But indeed, nowadays, this number is no longer enough, and that's why Colony Capital (since they bought PSG in 2006 = much before the Qatari era) has a plan in order to increase this number and they also want to add around 70-80 private suites/boxes, which Parc des Princes lacks today.

Thirdly, the number of VIP/BS seats is IMO not part of the reason why the Business Seats prices are low in Lille :dunno:, because e.g. Stade de France Business Seats prices are much, much higher (between €299 and €699 per football/rugby game), and as you already know I presume, SdF has more than 6,000 business seats (source: STADEFRANCE & the French "Grands Stades Euro 2016 Commission") divided into 5 hospitality packages (Privilège; Open; Prestige; Club Lenôtre Ateliers Gastronomiques; Club Lenôtre Menu Guy Krenzer), and in addition of these 6,000+ Business Seats, Stade de France also has 2,830 suite seats divided into 177 private suites/boxes.

Anyway, all in all, what I mean is I think the corporate seats prices at Lille could and should be higher....in my humble opinion.

Pdp-> I call a business seat a place that give you at least a cup of champagne or cocktail :bowtie:

in french: tu comprends très bien qu'il y a une ceinture de 7000 places qui donne droit à ceux qui y ont accés à une prestation (du cocktail simple ou jusqu'au dîner)
Je considère comme business tout siège étant à prestations même la plus simple! C'est logique.

After i know the difference between the seats that give acces to a private lodge.

So what? They will get bored by the stadium in a few matches. No-one will come just for the stadium, that never happens. People will see it once, twice, three times - that's it. They won't stay long unless the atmosphere and level of football keep them interested in following the club. And Lille is NOT Lens to have the atmosphere on their side already...

Wow, that's really cheap..

Here in Adelaide, South Australia at Football Park (AAMI Stadium), Australian Football League basic season tickets sell for AU $750 (450 euro's) and go up to AU $15,000 (9000 euro's) for Sky Boxes with far smaller population centre's than Germany or France..

So what does that say? Are we getting ripped off? Or are there less demand for tickets, therefore they need to sell season tickets at a lower prices to attract bigger crowds and revenues?

By the way, fantasic looking stadium, Haha..

I'm from Australia, and I have no idea what you're talking about. Basic membership for $750? I myself can get a season ticket/membership for my club for $120 in Melbourne (granted its concession). Here are Adelaide Crowds season tickets:

Silver: https://oss.ticketmaster.com/html/pack_searchtix.htmI?l=EN&CNTX=950d7ea161752041e86fd8796f2e9c99

Gold: https://oss.ticketmaster.com/html/pack_searchtix.htmI?l=EN&CNTX=950d7ea161752041e86fd8796f2e9c99

There is not one Adult membership there (silver or gold) that is over $750. There is not one that is over $500 for that matter. To say they start at $750 is disingenuous.

Then there's this, which paints an even more different picture to what you're saying:

http://www.aamistadium.com.au/artman2/uploads/1/2012_AAMI_Stadium_Membership_Brochure_1.pdf

That says you can get a Crows Adult membership for $335 AUD.

Or are there less demand for tickets, therefore they need to sell season tickets at a lower prices to attract bigger crowds and revenues?

The city that guy is from is Leverkusen...a side averaging 30,000 (in a stadium that holds 30,000) in a city of little more than 160,000. Its doesnt have 1 million people like Adelaide to draw from, even if its North-Rhine-Westphalia.

The Bundesliga is averaging 45,000 this season, about 10,000 more than AFL did in 2011. So I don't think thats the reason. Bayer Leverkusen had revenues of 75m Euros last season. Collingwood, our biggest club, had revenues of $75m AUD in 2011. Bayern Munich, their biggest club, had revenues of $396m. We aren't even in the same ballpark here. And this from a club in such a small market.

That guy was talking about basic terrace season tickets. Germany have standing areas (terracing), so obviously those tickets will be cheaper. You can't charge the price of a seat for standing area. And even then those links I posted don't make Adelaide look any more expensive. You really made it out to be something it wasn't.

I think Adelaide supporters may be getting ripped off, cos AAMI Stadium has been barely ever full for a season or two now that the Crows and Power are struggling...they couldn't even sell it out for the derby last season.

But remember, even though our economy is smaller than Germany's, our GDP PPP per capita is very high...higher than Germany's. So if anything, AFL tickets should be more expensive. We aren't getting ripped off enough.

The lady at the membership office told me my season ticket was the cheapest, but that just may be in a certain area? And it was AU $745 for 11 games..

-the colour of polycarbonate tubes lightened by a system of LEd will be white. They ignore 100% the fact that the club plays in red and they don't use it for the remind it like a signal in the city.

The only thing which make it original is the retractable arena .

This must be the worlds slowest built stadium ever - sheesh, I know its a 30 hour week in France, and its now holidays, but honestly quite slow progress considering theres "3rd world " countries crapping these out with speed nowadays!
Can you name one 3rd world country that has or will have a ground of this class? :)

Why all discussions on this topic finish always in a fight?
For the rest, I can't agree with Marsupilami, when you see all work they have to make, it's normal that stadium can't be quickly finish.
Marsupilami, if you come in Villeneuve d'Ascq you could see:
- the construction of a new 50,000 stadium with a arena under the ground, a retractable roof...
- 4 parkings of approximatly 3,000 cars spaces for each one
- a new access road with a viaduct
- a footbridge
- 2 new bridges
- a total new road planning all over the stadium

ignorance could produce such disasters :|

Ask before make such false statements :ohno:

This stadium is technologically above the major of the stadiums here whatever category concerned (u/c, completed and proposed)

It is the reality! the transformable pitch which a premiere in the world like this made the company slows the progress of works .Today the situation is normal.

And to be finished in summer 2012 like it was scheduled. But in March-april 2012 95% of it will be finished .

I compare you this, MR Axel! - also 55 ooo seater, and way more bang for your buck...although, there is no major tennant for this one YET, so you have the upper hand on YOUR stadium being used better...and the addition of your elaborate under pitch B-Ball and tennis court thingy too.

That being said, this was a stadium of technical genius, finished early, and faster .
