Any photos of The Griswold-Capital Park, Detroit? Ive seen a rendering and it looks amazing! A good design to fit in with the older architecture in Detroit.

Michi January 19th, 2008, 01:27 AM Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, friend, but the Griswold Capitol Park has been let go as a failed attempt at downtown condo living. The attrocious housing crisis in America really took its toll on a lot of these projects. The interest was there and one of the most prominent problems was that a lot of suburban buyers couldn't sell their homes. As of current, the project is a parking structure only. It will serve its original purpose, that being the parking amenity for the Book Cadillac, but there is still some speculation that it will be built strong enough to attemp the condo portion sometime in the future when the housing market improves to the level of utter and complete crap...as opposed to utter, super ridiculous, increadibly disgusting and complete crap. ;) hudkina January 19th, 2008, 09:53 AM They should have built apartments in the $600-$1,200 range. Many first-time city dwellers would probably prefer the flexibility of renting an apartment over the hassle of buying a condo. I certainly wouldn't want to buy a condo in the city right now, but I would definitely go for renting a small apartment. BTW, while the Griswold may have been shelved for now, a new (even more exciting) project has been announced only a few blocks away.
