This shot was taken at Sydney's Manly Beach this week as thousands of Sydneysiders filled the beaches as temperatures reached 30 degrees (86 Farenheit), the warmest it has been since early October.
Despite good weather over the past few weeks, the city's beaches have been subject to high swells caused by East Coast lows in the Pacific Ocean 1000 km to the north. Regular swells of 2m have been recorded and 3-4 metre swells were recorded over the new year period. The day I took this shot, there was a big swell of up to 2 metres.
This has led to erosion of beaches along the Sydney Coast, and Manly Beach has seen the its width reduced in half. The big surf has also led to the formation of dangerous currents and rips at the beach, which can sweep people out to sea if they are not swimming between the flags.
Despite the danger, it didn't stop this lady from braving the big swells. It was a hot day and like many Sydneysiders, needed to cool down  If it meant taking a risk they were more than happy to do so.
