Who's seen it and what did you think of it?

Me..saw it (twice actually lol) and loved it. Gives a breath of fresh air into the current mostly dull movie selection out right now, bar perhaps IAL. Overall very intense and gripping, although would have preferred a more detailed ending, but was done in a very realistic style so can't complain really.

High budget Blair Witch Project... Not sure if I'll see it.

Sheash, films that America are pumping out at the moment are boring me silly! They're all so generic!

I saw it and I loved it so much that I saw it three times (actually, today I saw it for the third time). I'm probably going to see it one more time before school, as well. I once saw a film 5 times in the cinema

I'm not gonna reveal what the monster looks like either, it's one of the greatest things about the film. If you're that intrigued then you should go see it ;)

(Go see it.)

^^ Not that I'm aware of.

There is a page on Wikipedia about the creature for those of you who are so desperate that you'll go to all lengths to find out what the creature is without paying the fare, you lousy cheapskates. But let this be a warning: those of you who visit the page will be considered a cheapskate and, quite frankly, a petty criminal for the next twenty seven years. Twenty seven because that is what the digits 1-18-08 adds up to.

Had a dream about this movie the other night and I think that this thread is responsible for it. I still havent seen the movie but in my dream the monster came out and I thought- "oh so THATS what it looks like, whats the big deal about that?" All it was was a guy with his body parts in yellow balloons. Kinda looked like blown up condoms. One of them, on his upper arm had even burst and I couldntt understand why they didnt replace it before it went to film. I just thought that the budget on the special effects was real bad.

Usually have better dreams than this. This one time, I was a window cleaner...

Im going to this tomorrow night. Saw Letterman last night and he said the monster was a SPOILER ALERT lizard. Is this true? If it is that would be a bit disappointing Japanese 50's like.

^^ No it's not a lizard.

Cloverfield DVD news!

Cloverfield is slated to be on DVD in Australia on May 22nd. I'm assuming that, naturally, that is our release date as well.

The DVD will be released in a standard one-disk edition, with the following special features:

Feature length commentary by director Matt Reeves
Document 01.18.08 (The Making of Cloverfield)
Cloverfield Visual Effects
I saw it! It's alive! It's huge! (Featurette on the design of the monster)
Clover Fun Blooper Reel
Deleted Scenes with Optional Commentary
Alternate Endings with Optional Commentary

The making of features sound pretty interesting! Can't wait to check this out. Plus the Deleted Scenes will be great, along with the Alternate Endings - although I've heard that the alternate endings aren't actually about the general end of the film, just tiny editorials (I won't give away too many details, since I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it).

This is pretty good news on the whole (unless you count the fact that America got the DVD five days ago, a month before us). For those of you who are awaiting the release for Blu-Ray (Todd ;)) click here (http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/2008/04/cloverfield-blu-ray-news.html) for info.

The DVD cover art is pretty basic; this is what I seen for the American release. Considering most DVDs get the same cover art in New Zealand as they did in America, I think it's safe for me to assume that this will be the same.

Info collected from various posts on CloverfieldClues.com (http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/)

PS. That website ^^ Has several interesting interviews, about the monster design etc, and also shows one of the Alternate Endings of the film. You'll have to scroll through the posts, though.

Sorry for the double post!

More Cloverfield news!

Today (Tuesday, April 29th), Michael Giacchino finally released his wonderful composition "Roar! (Cloverfield Overture)". The twelve minute-fifteen second composition combines elements of different monster themes, like Godzilla, King Kong etc, whilst incorporating Giacchino's own work into the mix.

The song was played through the end credits of Cloverfield, although cut short to 9 minutes, and is the only original music played throughout the whole film. It's a pretty good piece of music, for those of you who appreciate orchestral songs

Although the song was officially released to iTunes today, for some reason it does not appear in New Zealand and Australia's lists. This could be because they want to release it alongside the DVD; however, there are various places around the internet you can download it (i.e., people have uploaded it to the internet).

Cheers guys. If you want any more info, feel free to PM me on the matter. :)

I'll PM you. :)

EDIT: Blu-Ray release

Following the initial wave of titles, Producer J.J. Abrams' monster hit, Cloverfield, arrives on Blu-ray on June 3. Earning over $166 million in worldwide box office to date, Cloverfield thrilled critics and audiences alike with its shocking, first-person video account of a horrifying attack on Manhattan by an unknown -- and seemingly unstoppable -- force. The Cloverfield Blu-ray will include an exclusive feature-length "Special Investigation Mode" with added details about the film. Additional features include a director commentary, Making Of featurettes, deleted scenes, alternate endings with commentary and more.
