02.02.2008 Victory Park transforms into New Orleans during Mardi Gras- complete with a nighttime parade, outdoor cafes, street vendors and live music and entertainment. MystiQal will rival the most authentic Mardi Gras experience without ever leaving Dallas.

MystiQal, the first night parade in Dallas in over a decade, will feature beads and baubles, parties along the parade route, live music and loads of fun activities with the food and drink that celebrate Mardi Gras. So, start thinking Mardi Gras in Dallas…. MystiQal …? Yes! Thousands of people lining the streets, partying? Yes! Beads? Yes! Floats? Yes! Fun? Oh, heck yes!

In New Orleans?

NO! It’s right here in Dallas and it’s called MystiQal.

I guess, this is a new thing for Victory Park. There doing allot of new celebrations down there this year, Like The NYE in Big D for New Years (ill post pics later) AFI (2nd one) and they show movies on tuesday during the summer on the big screens down there.

I hope it catches on, it would be an awesome even.

What was it like?

It was fun, not as crazy as Mardi Grass but fun. Got to give away some beads to my gf's friends and some other girls around the area, to bad my camera was out of juice, would have had some nice pics for you guys. The thing i didn't get is why there were people there with the families? This was an All out Mardi Grass festival where girls were not afraid to earn there beads. I wonder how those discussions went "Mommy, where are her boobs bigger then yours?" "Because you ruined mine darling" haha

More beer stands then NYE so that was good, police were kinda relaxed about walking around drinking but in some cases they tried to make us stand in designated drinking areas (????)

For next year I would recommend NO KIDS, better planning with floats, no Gator Bus (it broke down half way through and blocked the rout for a while, haha) Other then that, this had every chance of screwing up severely but didn't.

In Galveston's they have a daytime parades for the families, and then the nighttime is all adults.

In NOLA, the only area where the tourists really flash for beads is in the French Quarter (Bourbon Steet). Along the parade routes, everything is very family-oriented.

Ain't hardly no black folks there? Except for that marching band pic... What's up with that? We made mardigras.

The lights at night looked cool though!

How so?

since I "saw" so many African Americas there at the last 2 New Orleans Mardi Grass festivals I have been to.
