LOL that was a good joke, probably in other countries in Latin America maybe it will mean something else, but believe me not here in Panama.

elliot December 6th, 2008, 10:02 PM Is construction continuing? Chicago will be green with envy if Panama City builds a "Spire" before they do, which seems likely since the Calatrava twist is on-hold.
I love how it was accomplished... much like Absolute "Marilyn" here in a suburb of Toronto... balcony/floorplate rotation defines the shape (see below).
http://www.emergencemarketing.com/wp-content/photos/absolute_tower.jpg
This "Spire" really suits sub-tropical Panama somehow (much more than Chicago) so I hope it's still on its way up.
Great idea/design and great addition to the Panama City (suprising) skyline.....

Bel-Air Residence and Spa is more than a tall residential tower. Dramatic, Elevated Views We have carefully selected a dramatic hilltop plateau for this project situated within, yet above the rooftops of the modern community of Condado Del Rey. This site provides a birds eye view of the city skyline and Pacific Ocean beyond to the southwest. In all other directions, the project enjoys views of the nearby, high rainforests of Soberania National Park, in perpetual protection as part of the Panama Canal drainage basin. In this way we have created a project with a strong identity with the city, the Panama Canal and the adjacent high mountain rainforests… Neighborhood convenience, ocean and skyline views and mountain air. No other project in the Panama City area can boast these features. We have clear title to the entire high, hilltop plateau insuring that no future projects will block the dramatic views. This is a key strategic advantage in a market where very few buildings enjoy protected views. Convenient neighborhood location with ample infrastructure only a few minutes away from the local thoroughfares, Avenida La Paz and Tumba Muerto, forgetting around the surrounding areas to shop and dine. Located less than a kilometer from Avenida La Paz, Bel-Air is only a few minutes from the Corredor Norte leading either to downtown Panama City, or north to Colon and the Caribbean beaches. This same thoroughfare leads directly to one of Panama’s most prominent landmarks, the newly constructed Centennial Bridge. This route provides convenient, yet dramatic access across the Panama Canal and all points west. There’s no need to detour through city traffic for a getaway to the Pacific beaches or the mountain resorts. This is yet another strategic advantage; the construction boom in the urban core areas has stretched the infrastructure beyond capacity and the streets are congested. Bel-Air is above and beyond the rush, noise and congestion yet still enjoys a strong city identity and market association. The building design and amenities set the project further above the competition. Incorporating a large, North American floor layout, we achieve lower construction cost per square meter, while at the same time providing a higher level of truly usable and sought after amenities in a dynamic Galeria configuration; full concierge and travel service, salons, full health club facilities, café, convenience shop and more. Our hilltop outdoor pool and social area is a one of a kind in this market. We have taken full advantage of this unique, hilltop site by providing one of a kind rooftop features including gazebo and exercise lounge, all with breathtaking views to the city skyline, Pacific Ocean and the surrounding high mountain rainforests. Our residents can enjoy a morning steam, workout and massage, get their hair done, and have a coffee with neighbors and friends all without leaving home all with dramatic skyline and rainforest views… Nowhere else in this market! Each floor offers a carefully thought out product mix based on our current, comprehensive market knowledge. Each floor offers a carefully thought and configured arrangement including studios, one, one plus, two and three bedroom units, all with private balconies and individual air conditioning systems. Interior layouts are carefully configured to maximize views. Ample parking is provided in the lower levels with surplus spaces available for purchase in addition to those provided with the unit.

Panamawise February 8th, 2009, 12:23 AM Hello Friends,
I recently visited the construction site of Revolution Tower, on January 16 and I took this picture for a customer of mine who owns two offices on the 16th floor. I saw a lot of activity. Contrary to many projects which are being discreetly shelved, this landmark is about to grace Calle 50. I cannot wait to see the spires going up.
Best, Chris

I don't think it's childish, on the contrary, I think it has great creativity and innovation, and to this day is the only building with this concept in Latin America, just wait a while and you'll see other latin american countries imitating the concept, then you won't call it childish, I'm pretty sure of that.

Yes, I recognize that it is the only tower with this "twist" concept in Latin America and I commend this innovation in the region, probably we'll see more towers like this here but only because Twisted towers are a growing tendency in the world since Calatrava's Turning Torso, these designs give to the towers a great flexibility but not in this case, here you can see rather deconstruction or destructuring and that´s ok, but the thing is that this tower don't look refined and the top is not harmonious, it looks like something you can make with a Jenga, they used the concept without justifying, has no reason to be.

Geocarlos February 2nd, 2011, 02:10 AM This is an amazing tower and it proves that in Panama we are not afraid to go over the top in terms of design. We have pushed the Turning Torso into something completely different that is more like a screw and the base looks like a big bolt. Nothing like this is on plans right now in Latin-American region, but we are going to see more daring designs in the future to come thanks to Revolution Tower.

Geocarlos May 1st, 2011, 07:39 AM Is this the first tower to do a full 360 degree twist?
That is correct, when the renders came out, many tried to compare Revolution Tower with the Turning Torso, but they really dont look alike, cos the Revolution is full 360 degree twist with the shape of a screw.

aquaticko September 30th, 2011, 04:36 AM Double helix tower? Awesome!!! Podium and crown? Blech. Still, a super cool addition to Central America's greatest skyline:D.
droneriot October 1st, 2011, 12:40 PM Agreed, podium and crown aren't on par with the main part of the building.
kladho1977 October 1st, 2011, 04:26 PM OMG!! you mean they actually built that?!?! It's awesome!!! (except maybe for the podium... I don't mind the crown too much)
And in Panama City of all places?! How come Panama is getting so many interesting designs?!

Steven77571 November 17th, 2011, 12:32 PM That is amazing! I wonder if it was inspired by the DNA helix.
smfarazm November 17th, 2011, 04:45 PM Just amazing. love it
rincon November 18th, 2011, 10:15 PM This towers is half amazing and half horrible.
 I really love that twisted part but I hate the podium and that Pyramid on top. :ohno:
zapor1 November 19th, 2011, 12:53 AM Am I the only one that thinks the WHOLE thing looks terrible? Poor design, poor cladding. Looks like those cheaply designed post modern era kitsch buildings.
tim1807 November 19th, 2011, 06:08 PM Amazing tower, from a distance you can't see the podium.

I love the building boom going on in Panama at the moment, but I really don't like this. I think this may be the worst "twisting" tower out there...
But I love the city.
Atmosphere December 18th, 2011, 01:41 AM I don't like it either. The shape is incredible that's for sure! But as a building.. I don't know. I like the buildings at the waterfront a lot more.

The cladding is not poor, is just that pictures don't make justice, I can see it from my apartment and looks great, very good quality of cladding.

Thank you for being so thoroughly informative... First the Revolution (F&F), now the Evolution Tower... What's next (to rhyme), the "Execution" Tower?

 I really love that twisted part but I hate the podium and that Pyramid on top. :ohno:Most - if not all - of the office towers in PC seem to be sitting on pedestals (podium(s) to use your word). That base portion of the buildings serve a practical purpose - parking. As for the perceived pyramid, it's an isosceles triangle-shaped spire.
