I remember seeing a report sometime in 2006-07 about the discovery of a tropical rainforest in the middle of the GC. It went along the lines of a group of researchers from UQ looking at the pockets of vegetation amongst the highrises and discovering that one patch inparticular had its own micro- ecosystem that enabled them to classify it as a rainforest.

does anyone here remember this report? if so, where abouts is the patch in question?

Maybe the 10 floor rainforest conservatory in Q1!

I can't assist you with locating the report but my understanding is the patch is actually at Narrowneck just north of Surfers, where all the main activity happens for Indy each year.

It is Littoral Rainforest or Coastal rainforest which is found all up and down the east coast of Australia. It is not Tropical Rainforest.
