Maayong buntag mga SSC folks. A friend of mine passed by CBP this morning and noticed a tarp/sign of a bldg to be groundbroken. It's right across Park Tower 1. Naa man daw mga pala na gold - typical for groundbreaking. Naay bag-ong bldg na sad didto?

yan siguro ang Chinabank....

^^^ How tall was that proposal?

passed by the lot infront of park tower 1... there's a rendering of a high rise (my taxi passed so fast i was able to guess only.. maybe around 13 to 16 floors...

x marks the spot.

http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/5388/vicinitymap2tp0.gif

^^wow nindota gud, hopefully the design would be as good as globe innove

That building will add to the density there, its between Lexmark and Park Tower. That means Park Towers won't look too isolated from the main skyline.

got the map from the cebu business park website

from the rendering, i can say na medyo cool and design sa bldg..naay red word logo sa ubos similar sa chinabank logo... i'll check this PM

I just passed by there and indeed there's another highrise building in the pipeline :okay:

^^ i wish someone can take a photo of the rendering... ...genie where are you?

Arnold and I passed by that area last night...And indeed there was a rendering na...Around 16 floors nga. :okay: or kasing tangkad ng Innove or Keppel.

Was it announced to the realty firm where Jarenz is currently connected. That's what I want to know...How did he know whom to confirm to, what office to call, and which numbers to verify with :okay: Coz I couldnt imagine Jarenz calling all the offices and banks checking if that upcoming project in CBP is theirs aight? Im pretty sure that he got an info from someone or from some groups about this upcoming project in CBP and instructed him to contact Dheb to verify. Groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of construction of China Bank Tower

A simple yet meaningful groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 18 to mark the official start of construction of the first phase of the new China Bank Tower in Cebu. China Bank Vice Chairman, Hans T. Sy; SVP and Branch Banking Group Deputy Group Head, Samuel L. Chiong; VP and Visayas/Mindanao Region Head, Patrick U. Go; and other officers of China Bank, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony at the site.

The China Bank Tower will rise on a 1,574-square meter lot at the heart of the Cebu Business Park (CBP), a sprawling 50-hectare business and residential development in Mabolo, Cebu City where the Ayala Center-Cebu shopping mall stands.

The first phase of the project, estimated to reach P80 million once completed, is a modern three-storey building with roofdeck which will house a new branch, China Bank - Cebu Business Park Branch, as well as other marketing and operational units, including regional and area offices. The 1,822.89-square meter facility is expected to be completed by July, 2008, in time for the 60th anniversary celebration of China Bank’s first provincial branch, China Bank Cebu-Magallanes.

SVP Samuel L. Chiong noted that Cebu is where China Bank opened its first branch outside Metro Manila and that the construction of China Bank’s first business center in Cebu underscores the bank’s continued commitment to the development of this Southern province. Cebu, the Philippines’ most densely populated island and second largest city, is now the fastest growing economy in the country. Next to Metro Manila, Cebu is home to the highest number of national and international corporations. It is also the base of the country’s domestic shipping. “In the ‘40s, China Bank was among the first banks in Cebu. Even then, we saw its immense growth potential. Working hand in hand with the local government, entrepreneurs, and businessmen, we are proud to have contributed to the vitality of the local economy,” said Chiong. To date, China Bank has thirteen branches all over Cebu.

Vice Chairman Hans T. Sy said that the China Bank Tower “will be a beautiful addition to the CBP skyline.” Aside from a low rise complex for China Bank’s operations in Cebu, an adjacent fourteen-storey class A office tower will also be constructed at a later date.

The tower, with a gross floor area of 7,621.11 sq.m., will feature a wide range of superior tenant amenities including high-speed Internet and telecom-munications systems, 24-hour security, extensive parking, on-site supplemental generator to ensure uninterrupted power service, as well as retail shops, restaurants, and cafeterias. Outside will be courtyards landscaped with gardens and seating areas. The architectural design for the entire 9,444-square meter project was undertaken by one of the top architectural firms in the Philippines, Jose Siao Ling & Associates. Dennis Abecede & Associates is the project manager while Monolith Construction is the contractor. Sonia Santiago Olivares & Associates will do the interior design.

have you heard of the value of open space? prime property isn't just about bricks and steel. a sports complex promotes good health, and good health means a healthier workforce, which will indirectly attract locators. that's the idea. a well-planned urban development always considers recreational facilities. modern, cosmopolitan cities have sprawling open space and their citizens do not consider this a waste of space.

With regards of putting signature in the rendering...

All renderings i post with my signature... I've been permitted with that... like in TG-Tower, Robinland Business Center, and among others..

My purpose is to track the source...
So that it will be easy for the company to trace the pic came from... and where the investor or locator got the info and the pic

I think this is just an office building that China Bank will lease to investors.. The bank of course will be occupying the first few floors..

Maybe this would just be a regional office just like Unionbank.

China Bank to celebrate 60th anniversary in Cebu (http://www.chinabank.ph/AboutCBC/newsdetail.aspx?id=3BF3282E-0B88-4C2C-8D06-379058420D74&link=5F5EC126-76F3-4AB2-BD17-66DAA1B24BE8)

China Banking Corporation (China Bank), the country’s first privately-owned commercial bank, is celebrating 60 years of successful partnerships in Cebu this July. China Bank is hosting five different events for its loyal clients and partners in Cebu from July 1 to 4. The main event, the Clients’ Appreciation Night at the Atlantic Ballroom of the Waterfront Hotel – Lahug, will be held on July 4.

The festivities will kick off with an all-day event at the Bank’s first branch in Cebu, China Bank Magallanes Branch, on July 1. Clients who visit the branch on that day will be treated to a simple but delectable feast. Those who open new accounts will get special giveaways.

The celebration will continue the next two days with the events hosted by China Bank’s Consumer Banking Group. There will be an “Open House Brokers’ Party” at the Waterfront Hotel – Lahug on July 2 for the Bank’s partner developers and brokers in Cebu. On July 3, China Bank’s partner auto dealers and agents will be partying in the exclusive shindig dubbed “Driving Thru in Cebu” at the Loft. Exciting prizes will be raffled off in both events.

China Bank’s Private Banking Group will also be bringing its successful Wealth Management Fora to Cebu on July 3 at the Waterfront Hotel – Lahug. Renowned investment expert and financial management practitioner, Rex Ma. Mendoza, will be sharing valuable information on the “Practical Side of Wealth Management.”

And on July 4, China Bank will hold its 60th Anniversary cocktails, the Clients’ Appreciation Night, at the Waterfront Hotel – Lahug. Around 1,000 guests, mostly clients of the 13 China Bank branches in Cebu, government officials, and noted personalities from the private sector, academe, and the media, are set to attend. Surprise guest performers will be gracing the event and special prizes will be given away.

As an added attraction, China Bank will also hold a mini exhibit chronicling the 60 years of China Bank in Cebu for the guests of the Appreciation Night. Selected pieces such as old passbooks, checkbooks, bank equipment, pictures, and memorabilia will be on display. There will likewise be a photo wall complete with red carpet and paparazzi to take pictures of the guests which they can have as keepsakes later on.

In 1948, China Bank came to Cebu with high hopes and a strong desire to support the development of the island province. Sixty years since then, China Bank has grown alongside the entrepreneurs, the businesses, the industries, and the city it helped along the way. Now, China Bank has 13 branches all over Cebu, and close to 200 branches nationwide. The Bank’s 14th branch in Cebu will open by the 3rd quarter this year at the Cebu Business Park.

^^this one's the bank. the left side is where the supposed high-rise structure is. :)

the reason i could think the rebars for the tower hasn't reached the ground level is because of the multi-level basement. there's high probabilty that foundation/excavation works for the hi-rise building is still on-going thus ain't visible just as yet.

great184

Some of the structure is still underground, but telling by the girth of the columns some of the above-ground construction is at least a portion of the tower itself.

By the way guys, Why would a bank build a highrise building? Is it necessary? I idea please? I am some kind of a dumb. hehehe...

correct me if i'm wrong. but this is what i heard. the Sy family has two groups in banking: Banco de Oro and Chinabank. BDO is handled by the male siblings and Chinabank is handled by their sister.

BDO is not keen on investing in real estate but Chinabank is. (i suppose BDO prefers more sophisticated offshore investments, hence its "manageable" exposure to the financial meltdown in the US).

as to your question, banks build hi-rises for the same reasons other businesses build hi-rises. RCBC, Unionbank, Metrobank, etc. have hi-rises.
Even insurance giants have hi-rises (Philam, Insular).

Yeah they build highrises so that it can be leased out to investors. The bank itself will just occupy 1-2 floors of the buiding.

Just like Metrobank, the Japanese Consulate used to occupy a floor there until they transferred to Keppel.

Remember the Abacus Securities Cebu? It usually occupied a floor at Metrobank tower in the 1990s. It then transferred to its own building in front of Keppel, the one that was bought by Globe Innove.

^^ hello! ...look at Metrobank Tower in Fuente! ...apart from their regional offices which occupy more or less 20% of the building's space...the rest of the floors/offices are being leased by big corporations including a Consulate...don't you think Metrobank is not making money from this? ...syempre, Chinabank will have the same set-up...much more now, nga daghan na mo-set-up og regional offices diri Cebu...

Yah right... Thanks for the insights... :)

China Bank Cebu Business Park (CBP) Branch, the Bank’s 218th branch, began operations today, April 24. Headed by Assistant Vice President Jose L. Osmeña, Jr., the new branch joins the 13 other China Bank branches in Cebu in providing Cebuanos with superior banking products and excellent customer service.

China Bank has been strengthening its presence not only in Metro Manila, but in key provinces and the rest of the archipelago as well. To date, there are 123 Metro Manila and 95 provincial China Bank branches, complemented by 330 China Bank ATMs located inside China Bank branches and in strategic, high traffic off-branch locations.

According to Samuel L. Chiong, senior vice president and deputy group head for branch banking, China Bank is going full speed ahead with its expansion plans despite the challenging times. “We are reaching out to people in a lot of other places. Opening branches in key cities and developing towns outside Metro Manila is a strategic move not only to bring the China Bank experience to people in the provinces but in a way, to help in countryside development,” he said. At least 30 more branches are planned to be opened this year.

China Bank CBP Branch is housed in a modern two-storey building at China Bank’s 1,574-square meter lot at the heart of CBP, a sprawling 50-hectare business and residential development in Mabolo, Cebu City where the Ayala Center-Cebu shopping mall stands. Aside from the low rise complex where China Bank CBP Branch and the Bank’s regional marketing and operational units are located, an adjacent fourteen-storey class-A office tower will also be constructed at a later date. The tower, with a gross floor area of 7,621.11 sq.m. will feature a wide range of superior tenant amenities including high-speed Internet and telecommunications systems, 24-hour security, extensive parking, on-site supplemental generator to ensure uninterrupted power service, as well as retail shops, restaurants, and cafeterias. Outside will be courtyards landscaped with gardens and seating areas.

China Bank CBP Branch is a full service branch offering a wide array of personal, business, and commercial banking services. It is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Mondays thru Fridays and is equipped with a night depository and ATM for 24-hour banking.

Bank to open new business center in Cebu

CHINA Banking Corp. (China Bank) will open its first business center in Cebu today.

'The opening of China Bank’s first business center in Cebu underscores the Bank’s continued commitment to the development of this Southern province,” said Samuel Chiong, senior vice president and deputy group head for the branch banking.

The China Bank Cebu Business Center is the first phase of the planned development of the bank’s 1,574-square-meter property in Cebu Business Park (CBP).

For updates from around the country, follow Sun.Star on Twitter

To be constructed at a later date is an adjacent 14-story class-A office tower which will have a gross floor area of 7,621 square meters.

Amenities

The China Bank Tower will feature a wide range of superior tenant amenities, landscaped courtyards and gardens as well as retail shops and restaurants.

The official blessing and inaugural ceremonies of the business center in will coincide with China Bank’s 61st anniversary in Cebu.

Special guests

Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama will lead the ribbon-cutting and he will be assisted by China Bank client, Elvira G. Luym, president of Kelvaye Corp., and China Bank’s Hans T. Sy, vice chairman and Ricardo R. Chua, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Sy will deliver a keynote message and will likewise lead the toast.

Features

Completed in April 2009, the 1,780-square-meter China Bank Cebu Business Center, a modern two-story building with roofdeck, houses China Bank’s 14th branch in Cebu, China Bank Cebu Business Park Branch, which began operations last April 24, as well as the Bank’s other marketing and operational units and the regional and area offices.

At the opening ceremonies of the branch, Chiong, said that China Bank is going full speed ahead with its expansion plans despite the challenging times, targeting to open 30 more branches this year.

Expansion

“China Bank has been expanding at a fast rate in the recent years which is part of our strategic move to bring the China Bank experience to a wider market. In fact, our network size has almost doubled since 2005 and we are looking at a 300-strong branch network by 2010,” he said.

Chiong also noted that Cebu is where China Bank opened its first branch outside Metro Manila and that it was among the first banks in Cebu.

The architectural design for the entire 9,341-square-meter project was undertaken by one of the top architectural firms in the Philippines, Jose Siao Ling and Associates. (PR)

Bank eyes 30 new branches in ’09 (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/cebu/bank-eyes-30-new-branches-%E2%80%9909)
Sun-Star Online
5 July 2009

WITH the aim of expanding its market reach amid challenging economic times, China Bank Corp. (China Bank) targets to open 30 new branches all over the country this
year.

In Cebu, the company is currently exploring three possible sites in Metro Cebu for new branches.

“We have to evaluate the market first,” said China Bank senior vice president and deputy group head for branch banking Samuel Chiong, stressing that the three sites are still “tentative.”

He said that among China Bank’s primary requirements for expansion in a new location would be the area’s population and potential to grow.

“Every branch we put up expands our market reach. Our long-term goal is to reach out to more markets,” said China Bank executive vice president and chief operating officer Ricardo Chua.

There are 15 full-service China Bank outlets in Cebu that offer personal, business and commercial banking services.

Presently, there are 225 China Bank branches nationwide—three of which are China Bank Savings. In Metro Manila, there are 129 branches, 44 in other parts of Luzon, 30 in the Visayas and 22 in Mindanao.

China Bank first vice president Alexander Eschua said the company aims to have a total of 267 branches this year, 291 by 2010, and 301 by 2011.

“The (period) from 2006 to 2011 will be the fastest growth in the branching history of China Bank. We made a three-year plan in 2006, targeting 200 branches. In 2007, we acquired Manila Bank, giving us 75 more licenses,” he said.

China Bank, the first privately-owned commercial bank in the Philippines, started with one branch in 1920.

“We are not only expanding but we are also looking at offering more services to our customers and improving our customer service. We will also focus on Cebu because, also speaking as president of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., I know that Cebu holds a very huge potential (for business),” said Hans Sy, China Bank vice chairman.

Last week, China Bank inaugurated the two-story China Bank Cebu Business Center at the Cebu Business Park (CBP), Cebu City.

The event coincided with the bank’s 61st anniversary in Cebu.

The business center is the first phase of China Bank’s planned development in CBP. The bank will construct a 14-storey class-A tower with a gross floor area of 7,621 square meters on a lot adjacent to the business center.
