Well, I just wanted to share with you people those enchanting and beautiful humble beaches, lakes, falls... of Haiti. I did not place all of them though, just the ones I could get.

Nettoyez-vous un peu les yeux!... lol

La Gonave: First Special Economic Zone in Haiti

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

La Gonave Economic Development Initiative

Overview

La Gonave is one of Haiti's seven islands which are of the coast of the Republic. La Gonave is a 687 km2 island located in the bay of Port-au-Prince. It is approximately 60 km long and 14 km large. The island's minimum distance from the mainland is 20 km. In comparison to other islands in the Caribbean, La Gonave is bigger than Aruba (193 km2), Barbados (430 km2), Grenada (344 km2), St. Lucia (620 km2), and the US Virgin Island combined (346 km2)

The island's economic potential can be found in the following sectors:

* Agriculture
* Fishing
* Commerce
* Off-shore Banking
* Industry
* Tourism

La Gonave a Special Economic Zone

Gonave Development Corporation (GDC) in partnership with the Government of Haiti have undertaken the Initiative to make La Gonave a special economic zone based on the Schezen model in China. As a special economic zone, the island will offer investors excellent incentives and a business environment second to none in the Caribbean. The special economic zone will operate under the rules and regulations to be established in a special investment code enacted by the Haitian Parliament.

La Gonave is to become the biggest special economic zone in the world surpassing Schezen's 327 km2.

The Economic Development Plan for La Gonave

The 30 year development plan for La Gonave calls for the island to have world class:

* Infrastructures
* Utilities
* Security and Justice Systems
* Business Promotion and Administration
* Environmental Management
* Social Services

The island economic development initiative is to be managed by a private-public Authority, the Gonave Development Authority (GDA).

GDA is to assure the day to day administration of the special economic zone. The Board of Directors of GDA includes members of DGC, Central Government, Departmental Government, and Local Government.

The plan calls for the island to have the following infrastructures:

An International Airport capable of handling at least 1,200 passengers per day

A major port on its northern shore capable of handling all cargo ships, cruise lines, and inter-island passenger/car ferries.

A second port on its southern shore capable of handling interisland shipping and passenger transport.

An asphalted road network providing access to all part of the island.

A Water supply system capable of providing adequate water coverage to all parts of the island.

An electrification system covering the entire island.

A fiber optic telecommunication network connected to the North American Grid.

Investment Opportunities

Concession contracts for Airport, ports, utilities.

Hotels, resorts, casinos, housing developments

Commerce, off-shore banking

Industries (agro, manufacturing, biofuel production)

Services (construction, engineering, education, health, social, recreational, hospitality)

Transportation

Shipping

That's the most important plan so far. Tambien hay otros pero sera para la proxima vez. And about the pics of Haiti, maybe this week-end I post a thread about it
