This is proof enough na talagang ginawang ukay-ukayan area ang overpass in Libertad. I'm curious whether they're still doing this hangtud karon? Or was it only a ONE TIME occassion lang?

Cong Romarate of 2nd dist. Surigao del Norte is also pushing for pedestrian overpass near the caraga hospital in surigao city. The highway is only two lanes, impractical kaayo nga maghimu but then obviusly its something to have his name on.:bash: Im sure ma-ing ani sad ang sa surigao once its finished. what a waste of peoples money.:bash:

Ang Macau & Shenzen I think is only about 45 minutes from Hongkong if you take the ferry. Ang gusto kung puntahan next time is Macau kay murag barato ra. Also, Gusto kong makita ang The Venetian Hotel , then take the GONDOLA ride with matching serenade from the Gondolier...:lol:

mao pud lagi gusto nila mama. wala pman mi naka adto sa macau.

In a statement, Air Philippines said the flights resumed after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) lifted its ban on the limited use of Caticlan airport. It said its Bombardier Q300 turboprop aircraft is used in this route.

Air Philippines flies eight times a day to Caticlan from Manila and twice a day from Cebu.

* suspension of Cebu-Butuan, Cebu-General Santos, and vice versa service.:bash:

The new domestic schedule also took effect December 1.

Air Philippines currently uses a fleet of three 50-seater Q300 and five 76-seater Q400 turboprop aircraft which fly from:

You're welcome. Funny really how I finally found the courage to approach the guard & asked his permission so that i could take a closer shot of the hotel's name near their entrance door. Know what he did? He moved the planters unya iya pa gyud gi-arrange para hindi matakpan ang nakasulat na Prince Hotel..:lol: napaka-super bait na guard. Ang DH3 sa PAL Express really succumbed to Cebu Pacific's A319.

Cebu Pacific has 2 flights daily to and from MNL. PAL has only one flight as of now, pero 2 flights na starting December 18 using Airbus A320 and A319. Btw, I saw a PAL A320 kanina. hehehe :colgate:

For January-March 2010 travel

The Philippines’ leading carrier, Cebu Pacific (CEB) entices passengers to travel with a system-wide seat sale for as low as P999. Seat sale period is from December 5-6, 2009, for travel from January 1 to March 31, 2010.
All of CEB’s 32 domestic destinations are up for grabs at the ‘Go Lite’ seat sale fare of P999. This includes direct flights from Cebu to Butuan and Surigao, as well as flights from Manila to Kalibo (Boracay), Naga, San Jose (Mindoro) and Laoag. Napalit na ni siya ni Victor Uy nga tag iya pud sa Cindirella Arcade & many housing projects diri sa butuan. Ang first & second floors ana mao ang ilang restaurants. the rest of the floors puro na suites for their hotel. I am not sure what they're gonna do with the rooftop. Ang first 3 floors palang ang nahuman. They're supposed to have their soft opening last December 4, pero ilang gi postphone. Dili siguro makaya.

18 hostages freed, 2 escape in Agusan kidnapping

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 2) Eighteen of at least 65 hostages kidnapped by gunmen Thursday in Agusan del Sur province have been released, police said.

All of the hostages freed were children except for one adult, according to Chief Superintendent Lino Calingasan, Caraga regional police director.

In a separate interview, Senior Superintendent Nestor Fajura, chief of operations of Caraga police, said that aside from the 18 victims released, two more teachers were able to escape from their abductors.

Fajura identified them as Nene Alemendares and Marilou Gregorio, both of whom are now under the custody of their district supervisors.

Fajura said that 15 armed men belonging to the criminal group Ondo Perez took the hostages around 8 a.m. in Sitio (sub-village) Maitum, Barangay (village) San Martin in Prosperidad town.

Fajura said that authorities were to serve an arrest warrant for multiple murder against Perez, the group’s leader, when the hostage-taking occurred.

Perez’s group was involved in the murder of the relative of a local enemy, Fajura said.

“[The hostage-taking] was due to the fact that warrants of arrest for multiple murder would be served against Perez,” Fajura said.

When police were trying to serve the warrant, the suspects fled and took the hostages, including students of Maitum Elementary School.

Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, spokesman of the Eastern Mindanao Command, said that among those held hostage were two foresters from the Casilayan Softwood Development Corporation.

The group, armed with M16 rifles and shotguns, reportedly fired warning shots while they were taking the hostages some 2.5 kilometers from the sitio, Fajura said.

Immediately after the incident, a crisis management committee was formed to negotiate the release of the victims. The committee was led by Governor Tina Plaza, Fajura said.

“The crisis management committee appealed to the suspects to release the children first,” Fajura said.

The remaining 55 hostage victims, Fajura said, were in good condition.

The demands of the suspects are: for the presence of journalists in the site; the arrest of their enemy June Tubay; to stop military and police operations in the area; to drop multiple murder charges against Perez; and batteries for their flashlights.

Economic boom continues in this growing and progressive capital city of Caraga region due to the many completed road and bridges projects and the completion of the giant P2.159 billion Diosdado Macapagal Bridge.

Indeed it's so beautiful. Imagine, it's the ONLY cable stayed bridge with a steel deck & single tower in MINDANAO. And for this mega structure to be built in Butuan, who wouldn't be proud? It is also now gaining popularity amongst local/foreign tourists. Since it has now become a landmark, a visit to the bridge is always included as part of the itinerary destination when you're in Butuan. Aside from that. I've seen blogs nga ang Diosdado Macapagal bridge gihimo nilang subject of their photography.

Manila (11 December) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to sign House Bill 5110 on Monday, December 14, 2009 establishing the Caraga State University (CSU) in the Caraga Region by integrating the Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science and Technology (NORMISIST) in Ampayon, this city, and the Northern Mindanao College of Science and Technology (NMCAST) in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte, with its main campus in Butuan City.
The bill was sponsored by Senator Mar A. Roxas and has passed in the Senate's second reading during the Upper House's hearing on November 9, 2009. Per Committee Report No. 1240, it was authored by Congressmen Jose S. Aquino II of the First District of Butuan City and Las Nieves.
Other representatives of the lower house authored the bill include: Congressmen Angara, Villar, Lagman, Javier, Remulla, Amante, Romarate, Padilla, Madrona, Nicolas, del Mar, Amatong, Mitra, de Guzman, Garay and Angping.
According to the Bill, Caraga State University shall offer undergraduate and graduate courses within its areas of specialization, specifically, but not limited to, the fields of agriculture and environmental studies, fishery, engineering, forestry, industrial technology, education, law, medicine and other health related programs, information technology, arts and sciences and other fields as the Board of Regents may deem necessary to carry out its objectives, particularly to meet the needs of the Caraga Region.
Also, the Bill stated that the existing high schools shall be transferred to the jurisdiction and supervision of the Department of Education (DepEd). Provided, that the high schools shall be allowed to remain and operate within the campus of the University until the students, who are currently enrolled, shall have completed their high school education. Provided, further, that the University may operate a reasonably-sized laboratory school, if it has a College of Education.

also for the marjeds staff, ive seen in this forum that marjeds will be putting up a new station on the 103.1 frequency. will it be abs-cbn's fm radio? if not, what will be its name and format?

I agree with you xtian. ABS CBS must be pushing through the plan of putting up an FM station in Butuan. If not why are they plugging it? Anyway, maybe ABS CBN contracted MSI to assemble the transmitter and put up the station in Butuan. A big savings for ABS CBN if they do it.

By the way, if they are not putting a station yet, maybe they are just promoting MOR 103.1 Baguio. Pero bakit naman? :nuts:

Manila (11 December) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to sign House Bill 5110 on Monday, December 14, 2009 establishing the Caraga State University (CSU) in the Caraga Region by integrating the Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science and Technology (NORMISIST) in Ampayon, this city, and the Northern Mindanao College of Science and Technology (NMCAST) in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte, with its main campus in Butuan City.
The bill was sponsored by Senator Mar A. Roxas and has passed in the Senate's second reading during the Upper House's hearing on November 9, 2009. Per Committee Report No. 1240, it was authored by Congressmen Jose S. Aquino II of the First District of Butuan City and Las Nieves.
Other representatives of the lower house authored the bill include: Congressmen Angara, Villar, Lagman, Javier, Remulla, Amante, Romarate, Padilla, Madrona, Nicolas, del Mar, Amatong, Mitra, de Guzman, Garay and Angping.
According to the Bill, Caraga State University shall offer undergraduate and graduate courses within its areas of specialization, specifically, but not limited to, the fields of agriculture and environmental studies, fishery, engineering, forestry, industrial technology, education, law, medicine and other health related programs, information technology, arts and sciences and other fields as the Board of Regents may deem necessary to carry out its objectives, particularly to meet the needs of the Caraga Region.

Finally a reality....this plan was conceptualized for almost 2 decades already..starting with a plan of converting NORMISIST into a UP Mindanao Campus....but was hit by several snags approximately 12 years ago due to its accreditation and the usual geo politicking.

Then came the plan of establishing a CARAGA State University System with other state colleges in the region like in Surigao City, Cabadbaran and the NORMISIST in Butuan...But again it was hit by a snag as the Surigao part proposed exclusion to form a separate bid for a state university conversion..

The snag drag on as the bill filed in congress and transmitted to upper house needs revisions.

Then after revision came the accreditation levels...Subsequently, teams from CHED, and other regulatory bodies came and made several assesments.

Then after many years (almost 2 decades) finally....NORMISIST...on December 14, 2009 will break ground as the regions only and first state university as the CARAGA STATE UNIVERSITY ^^
