MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Land Corp., the property arm of conglomerate JG Summit Holdings is building its first shopping mall in Pangasinan, and which will be the company's 30th shopping mall in the country.
Robinsons Land said Robinsons Calasiao will be constructed on a 5.8 hectare property with a gross floor area of 31,900 square meters and gross leasable area of 23,000 square meters.
This brings the total gross floor of all 30 Robinsons mall to 1.5 million square meters.
"Robinsons Calasiao reflects Robinsons Land's commitment to expand its chain of malls in the region," Robinsons Land president Frederick Go said in a statement.
Go said the company chose Calasiao for its first mall in Pangasinan because the first class municipality is strategically located between Dagupan City and San Carlos City.
Currently, Robinsons Land has two malls in Pampanga and one each in the provinces of Tarlac, Ilocos Norte, Bulacan and Cabanatuan. The company also recently opened a shopping mall in General Santos and Dumaguete.
For next year, Robinsons Land plans to develop a mall in Puerto Princesa in Palawan and two more in 2012, one in Cebu and in Magnolia in Quezon City.
In the first half of its fiscal year ended March 31, 2010, Robinsons Land posted a 10% rise in net income to P1.79 billion, as combined real estate and hotel revenues rose by 7% to P5.3 billion compared to last year's P4.9 billion.
From September 2009 to March 31, 2010, the company's commercial centers division contributed 50% or P2.8 billion of the company's gross revenues, posting a 38% growth.

drew2364 June 23rd, 2010, 12:49 AM correct me but it seems like there are many hotels already? these are not good enough for the foreigners, I love going to inland hotel, its not saturated yet,
drew2364 June 23rd, 2010, 01:19 AM I mean isnt butuan not yet saturated with hotels?
drew2364 June 23rd, 2010, 01:21 AM the arcade must be along this road?
where is this at?
drew2364 June 23rd, 2010, 01:37 AM WOW! now i cant wait to go back in the phil, i am planning to retire there in 5 years ( early retirement ), Its a gift of mine to myself. I gonna enjoy the diversity of food. Why i did not see a chinese fast food there like here in the US? Today im starting to save money and accumulate and retire in Butuan, hopefully u guys can help me what is the most efficient way to invest for a bizniz, I want to start small, to show that im serious like actually i just bought a jeepney that cost $3,000 and had to pay $580 ( or 25,800Peso for a permit ) my cousin who is the driver is contemplating which route to take route 2 or 4? i don't know what that means, I just wanted to test if their is profit in this, someone said tricyle is better, and i'm will be improving our house to add room and boarders. MY PLAN IS IF I MAKE MONEY even a little, then i can show to my investors here in US that "look i'm making money, then i can convince them to invest there" investors only seems to believe you, once u yourself throw money, then they are comfortable of improving our city. BUT IM VERY EXCITED
drew2364 June 23rd, 2010, 01:52 AM But overall goal is to being employment to butuanons, and i think if i can bring investors there to launch many kinds of businesses i will put my "fingerprint" all over butuan, to help butuan. My other plan is to employ many people plant, maintain, and watch over my family lands in bit-os?, we are thinking of planting falcata, im not sure if it will work out in the next five years, , people say u will make lots of money, people say u will lose, people tell me about the risks and stuff, i'm not sure what will happen, but one thing i know what will happen... is nothing if i don't do anything. the land has been idle for the last 30 years
Fahdingding June 23rd, 2010, 02:12 AM Don't worry guys... In GOD'S TIME... Daun jud ng ROBINSON BXU! :)
jundem_dq63 June 23rd, 2010, 03:32 AM so wala pa cguro nila na finalize sa cityhall ang mga permit para sa construction.. mao nga wala pay press release... dili man gud kaayo excited para nako nga walay press release thouh naa nay gi butang nga tarpaulin didto sa area side by side... Na broadcast na sa Radio na and construction mo start daw this year.... pero walay press release coming from the company........mao ng maka relate ko sa inyong feelings diha.hhehehe... but still wala me nawad-e sa paglaum kay who knows.... at least and RPB naa nay tarpulin...and SM kunohay diri wala jud :lol::lol::lol::lol:....
Anyways...... mo abot lang na siya soon..... ayaw kawala sapaglaum... kuhit kuhita si Mayor basin ug madali dali na...heheehhehe
BXU-GCP June 23rd, 2010, 04:36 AM I mean isnt butuan not yet saturated with hotels?
Butuan is becoming a convention capital nowadays. Because of this, more hotel rooms are needed for the participants of these conventions.
Aside from that, the tourism industry is starting to perk up. Most of these tourists prefer to enter Caraga through Butuan. Most of these tourists spent at least one night in Butuan before proceeding to other destination and spent another night before leaving caraga.
Also, there is no travel advisory for foreigners not to travel to Butuan. This explains why you can see a lot of caucasians in Butuan.

regjeex June 23rd, 2010, 03:33 PM Globe, Bayan scrap Bicol interconnection charges
06/22/2010 | 04:08 PM
Subscribers of Globe Telecom Inc. and Bayan Telecommunications Inc. in Albay and in Camarines Sur no longer have to pay interconnection charges when calling one network line to another.
Ayala-led Globe and Lopez-owned Bayan signed a deal, which took effect on June 16, scrapping the interconnection charges, Globe said in a statement Tuesday.
The deal with Bayan would allow Globe to sell its landline telephony and broadband internet services to residents in those provinces. Globe is now in the process of rolling out its network services in Albay and in Camarines Sur.
The interconnection deal gives customers of Globe subsidiary Globelines and Bayan "to call one another without any additional fee," Globe regulatory affairs head Froilan Castelo said.
“As these will now be considered local calls, the people in the area stand to benefit by saving on long distance charges that they used to pay before in making calls from one provider to the other. Our Globelines customers can simply dial the seven-digit telephone number to connect with the other service provider," he said.
The Bicol region is one of Bayan's six major markets, apart from Metro Manila, Eastern Visayas and Iloilo, Davao and General Santos, Butuan and Cagayan de Oro“Globe is open to negotiations with other telecom service providers including local telephone companies to help bring universal access and a fully integrated telecommunications network to customers nationwide," Castelo said.
Republic Act 7925 gives the National Telecommunications Commission the mandate to order the compulsory interconnection of public telecommunications carriers to create a universally accessible and fully integrated nationwide telecommunications network. —VS, GMANews.TV

regjeex June 23rd, 2010, 05:52 PM CSU cements partnership with NPUST Taiwan
http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/ab140/regjeex/CSU/npust2.jpg
With the aim to position the University in international networks, key officials of the Caraga State University led the university's international partnership with the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) in Pingtung, Taiwan during their visit to the latter last April 28 – May 1, 2010.
[Shown in the photo are Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca, CSU President, and Prof. Yuan-Kuang Guu, President of NPUST during the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation last April 30, 2010 in NPUST, Taiwan.]
Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca, the University President, led the three-woman delegation with Dr. Myrna M.D. Kuizon, then the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dr. Rowena P. Varela, then the Vice President for Research and Extension in NPUST for the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between CSU and NPUST. NPUST, a government education institution, is the first transnational sister university of CSU.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca for CSU and Yuan-Kuang Guu, President of NPUST. The partnership was made “on the principle of reciprocation and with the desire to enhance academic and cultural interchange in the areas of education, research and related activities, agree to cooperate and work together towards the internationalization of higher education".
The signing of the memorandum was witnessed by the following:
• Mr. Joselito D. Elvena, MECO Kaohsiung Branch Director (represented by Ambassador Antonio I. Basilio)
• Dr. Myrna D. Kuizon, CSU Vice President for Academic Affairs
• Dr. Rowena P. Varela, CSU Vice President for Research and Extension
• Dr. Henry H.H. Chen, NPUST - OIA Dean
• Dr. Chia-Hung Yen, NPUST - OIA Chief of International Cooperation Division
• Dr. Albert Linton Charles, NPUST-OIA Chief of International Students Division
The areas of cooperation will include any of the programs offered in CSU and NPUST that are desirable and feasible for the development and strengthening of the cooperative relationships between the two institutions. As mentioned, such programs will cover:
1. Joint Research Projects
2. Student Exchange
3. Faculty Exchange
4. Exchange of Academic Resources / Materials
With the partnership, both universities hope to benefit in terms of globalizing their programs and attaining shared goals.
The visit to NPUST also allowed CSU Officials to meet with the Officials of Food and Fertilizer technology Center for Asia and Pacific Regions (FFTC) and discussed possible joint project/program in line with Agriculture, Energy and Environment.
The other offices visited were the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and Tianan District Agricultural Research and Extension Service (Tianan-DARES). ITRI is a national research organization that serves to strengthen the technological competitiveness of Taiwan. Tianan-DARES, on the other hand, was the technical partner in the corn project implemented primarily by then NORMISIST in Caraga Region and Sarangani.
The visit to Taiwan and the partnership with NPUST was made possible through the R&D Program entitled ‘Modern Corn Cultivation and Technology Transfer in Caraga’ jointly implemented by then NORMISIST, Department of Agriculture - RFU 13, MECO and FFTC with funding from the Taiwan Council of Agriculture in 2007-2009. Through several email exchanges between CSU and NPUST’s Office of the International Affairs (OIA) in late 2009 and early 2010, the partnership went through as desired. It was on April 30, 2010 that the MOC was finally signed by both presidents of the universities

Ang ganda pa ng location ^^
Imagine, kung hindi pa kami dumaan ng Diosdado Macapagal Bridge kahapon,
I wouldn't be able to see these developments in South Montilla Blvd. Naka-

On the contrary, i like their halohalo and Beef Tapa. They do taste the same as what they have in their outlets at the SM Mall of Asia.
Anyway, we have to respect the taste buds of anybody.

For me, ang BEST Palabok ay ang sa TREE GARDEN ra gyud, at mas nice pa ang ambiance kaysa Razon's.
The last I remember about TREE GARDEN, they have this cascading water sa ilang walls, really nice. They also have this budget meals just like other fastfood chains, though ang TREE GARDEN is just local Butuan

BOB-bXu June 26th, 2010, 07:21 AM honestly, i dont like it. the taste of razon's halo-halo is nothing special, it's just like an ordinary halo-halo. even the rest of there menu kay way lami gi uli jud namo ang amo order nga palabok kay wa mi kasabot sa lasa. sorry ha pero based lang pud ni sa among na experience last december.

if its along a main road....if the land is not water logged....if there are no illegal settlers....if the land is near the poblacion or the barangay site....and if it has a clean title to it.....then 210,000 is very very CHEAP for a 6 hectare property

you can request your brother to take video or photos of the site and around the site drew....since you are the one who will spend the money, you should as much as possible have a glimpse of the site.
those palm oil trees and falcata trees are a bonus ^^ they are an added economic value to the property.

don't get too excited yet Reg...Its not yet sure if that Kajima lot was also included in their buy out. The only official report was that the adjacent Calo properties near 2Go warehouse (first bought 2 years ago... the one along JC Aquino...and the one just bought a month ago the one facing Capitol-Bonbon Road)
I don't know if Robinson's Land is in a buying spree acquiring all those properties around their present lot. I have heard they are eyeing the lots opposite the Capitol-Bonbon Road for their Robinson Homes??

PCSO opens STL station in Butuan
PIA Press Release
2010/06/24
http://www.pia.gov.ph/?m=12&fi=p100624.htm&no=59
Butuan City (24 June) -- After the official inauguration of its play station in Cabadbaran City earlier this month, another Small Town Lottery (STL) station has been opened in this city.
Personnel from Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Quezon City headed by Mr. Romualdo Quiñonez, Manager of the Special Project Department came over here Thursday morning (June 24) to open the city's STL station covering the areas of Butuan and the province of Agusan del Sur.
During the inaugural draw held at the STL station in Lopez Jaena St. here, personnel from PCSO Quezon City and PCSO Caraga were among those who led the conduct of the activity.
In an interview with the local media, PCSO-Caraga Lottery Operations Manager Gloria Ybañez pointed out the benefits which the Filipinos can get from the revenue of the STL. She said, through the revenues where the proprietors will remit to PCSO, more people will benefit the health services and other charitable projects of PCSO.
Also, Ybañez emphasized that PCSO's role in the conduct of the STL draw is to maintain the transparency, integrity, and honesty of the draw. "Ang role lang talaga ng PCSO dito is to see to it na ma-maintain ang transparency, integrity, and honesty ng pag-conduct ng draw. Kaya in every draw, there should be personnel from PCSO para mag-witness," she said.
Further, Ybañez stressed that through STL, illegal ushers of "Suwertres" Game will be minimized, if not, will be totally eradicated "kasi mai-encourage sila na mag-usher sa legal na paraan at hindi na sila hahabul-habulin pa ng mga pulis. Besides, nakaka-boost din ito ng morale sa kanila because they are already partners of PCSO," the official said.
When asked of her insights if STL will be a hit here in the city, Ybañez is very optimistic that Butuanons, Agusanons and even Caraganons will patronize it "because they know that PCSO's goal of having this legal numbers game is to get more funds to be used in serving the Filipino populace in terms of health-related services and other charitable programs," she said.
The inaugural draw was also witnessed by four invited members of the board of judges who came from the different sectors of society chaired by Mr. Allan Santiago, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member of the Province of Agusan del Sur. He was accompanied by Mr. Phillip delos Santos, Mr. Roquito Jugao, Jr., and Mr. Eugene Zabate who all acted as members of the board of judges.
The draw, which was conducted at 11:45 in the morning, was officiated by Mr. Dindo Viterbo of PCSO-Quezon City who is also one of the Draw Coordinators of the nightly PCSO Lotto Draws.
Meanwhile, after the inaugural draw, proprietors of Lucky DLS Gaming Corporation who owns the franchise of the play station here led the official inauguration and blessing officiated by Fr. Bob Alaan of the Diocese of Butuan.
The STL draw will be conducted three times a day following the schedule scheme: 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. For every one peso bet, winner will receive Php 800 in cash, it was learned. (PIA-Caraga) [top]

hala, in other words, Robinson's land bought 2 adjacent properties this year ??!
one from the heirs of Choleng Calo..and the other one that property of Kajima as sold by the bank...
gross total of land area of Robinson's property (if indeed, included ang Kajima lot) would go to as big as 10 hectares???

Asian NGOs meet in Butuan’s confab on biodiversity
Written by Alden Pantaleon / Correspondent
Monday, 28 June 2010 20:50
BUTUAN CITY—Delegates of nongovernment organizations (NGOs) from Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Spain’s Instituto de Promocion y Apoyo Al Desarollo (IPADE) met here starting yesterday for a three-day Asian regional conference, the first of its kind, to discuss the country’s biodiversity conservation and improve natural resources-based livelihood programs in rural communities.
Organizers said the conference would be held from June 28 to 30 at the city’s Balanghai Hotel to “define a common benchmark toward addressing biodiversity-conservation issues and concerns, as well as improvement of livelihood of rural communities in these countries dependent on natural resources.”
Clustered under the Convenio-Asia with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID), organizers said the meeting would also discuss community-based natural-resource management, solid-waste management, water and sanitation, and social enterprise initiatives of rural populations.
Convenio-Asia has been implemented in these countries since 2008 in line with the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of addressing poverty, particularly MDG 7 or environmental sustainability.
Yul Caringas, a key conference organizer, said the activity would also focus on issues of global climate change which has already manifested adversarial effects to rural populations dependent on natural resources.
“Now, everything becomes fast,” Caringas, project director of the Butuan-based Alterdev Services Foundation Inc., said, referring to the existence of fast-food eateries even in rural areas. He added that “this culturally displaced traditional methods of storing food during rainy days.”
Organizers claimed that because of the change of monsoon pattern, farmers could no longer determine when would be the right time to prepare farms for planting.
Caringas said this unpredictable weather pattern caused damages to crops in these countries, either because of prolonged dry spells or floods which led to more economic difficulties in rural areas.
He said the Alterdev, one of the country’s NGOs attending the conference, has been assisting farmers in Agusan del Norte promote sustainable agriculture technologies and social enterprise development, particularly in the towns of Buenavista, RTR, Jabonga, and Kitcharao.
The Alterdev, an advocate of sustainable agriculture in the Caraga region together with the IPADE-Philippines, both based here, would be the conference hosts.
Nielo Tingson, Alterdev president, said the organization is also implementing a water and sanitation system project in the coastal barangays in Jabonga.
He said in an interview that the sustainable agriculture technologies, particularly organic rice farming and diversified integrated farming system, have been Alterdev’s contribution to environmental conservation and the enhancement of rural communities’ productivity in these municipalities.

lemzy June 29th, 2010, 03:18 PM DENR orders ‘greening’ of Mt. Mayapay
By MIKE U. CRISMUNDO
June 29, 2010, 3:03pm
BUTUAN CITY – Officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Caraga Region on Tuesday ordered all field officers to continue “greening” Mount Mayapay in this city as wildlife started coming back to grasp the beauty of nature.
DENR Region 13 Executive Director Edilberto S. Buiser also ordered Agusan del Norte Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Rosendo Asunto and Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Jaime Acebu to mobilize their respective personnel in protecting the wildlife and help maintain the trees in the area.
Buiser issued his directive after three deers were reportedly caught while a tarsier was sighted at the vicinity of the Mt. Mayapay Rehabilitation Project (MMRP).
This was reported by the hired workers of CENRO Nasipit to the Monitoring Team composed of personnel from the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA and Commission on Audit (CoA), who visited the project area early this month to assess the status of trees planted, managed, and maintained by the DENR.
Accordingly, they first noticed the presence of these creatures late last year when they saw tracks and footprints in certain parts of the project site.
These creatures have allegedly eaten the leaves of the kakawati and African Tulip planted in those areas.
At first, they suspected that wild pigs ate the leaves, which are still dominant in Mt. Mayapay.
However, two of the hired workers allegedly caught the deer and slaughtered it, which weighted approximately 50 kilos.
The monitoring team warned the hired workers that henceforth, wild animals should not be killed, but turned-over to the DENR for proper disposition and management.
regjeex June 29th, 2010, 03:23 PM kasayang sa deer... i preserve unta nila nang mga endangered speices diha sa Mt. Mayapay...
Hope private investors will consider Mt. Mayapay for a zip line spot... very nice na diha ba...

BUTUAN CITY - A Truth Commission will also be established in Butuan City, its mayor said on Wednesday, a day after Philippine President Benigno Aquino III announced the creation of a similar body.
But unlike the Truth Commission that will look into the Arroyo administration’s alleged irregularities, its Butuan counterpart will examine the alleged oversights of the previous local government’s leadership.
“I will just wait for the recommendations of the transition team for creation of the local version of Truth Commission," newly sworn-in Butuan City Mayor Dr. Ferdinand Amante, Jr. in a press conference held right after he took office on Wednesday.
Although he offered reconciliation to all political rivals — especially the Plazas — he nevertheless vowed to investigate supposed irregularities that took place under the term of his predecessor.
Among these issues include alleged misuse of an annual P18-million intelligence fund intended for the Office of the Butuan City Mayor.
Only P800,000 have been left from the P18-million fund allotted for this year, former Commission on Audit (COA) auditor for the City of Butuan Mrs. Leah Mendoza said.
Mendoza was among those who evaluated the local government’s funds with the City Accountant Office.
The fund lack may also pose a problem since "six months left for year 2010 by which the money was intended," incoming City Administrator Atty. Roldan Torralba said.
Torralba, a former Butuan City councilor, is the chairman of the Amante camp’s transition team.
Another emerging issue covers how ten city government offices had their electricity cut off due to unpaid power bills.
An estimated P25 million was allegedly previously spent to pay for electricity bills to the Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative (ANECO).
During the May 2010 election campaign, Amante’s camp hurled allegations of malfeasance, mismanagement of government funds, and other claims of graft and corruption against the then incumbent Plaza administration.
At the height of the May 2010 campaign, the Amante camp even distributed pamphlets and recorded alleged corruption practices in compact discs, detailing practices of then incumbent Plaza administration. - RJAB Jr./JV, GMANews.TV

Tax row with coop puts Butuan City in darkness
BUTUAN CITY - With some City Hall offices here already out of electricity after the Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative (ANECO) ordered the utility service disconnected for what it claimed as P30 million in unpaid bills, other government offices in the city would likely be cut off from service this week.
The ANECO management has ordered its electricians to disconnect other government offices in the city if no settlement is reached.
In its May 31, 2010 letter to the Butuan City Government, the ANECO management urged City Hall to settle its obligations.
ANECO general manager Horacio Santos said the cooperative already disconnected the city government’s potor pool, the offices of the Department of Interior and Local Governments and Kadiwa stores, and some street lights.
“Next, we will be forced to disconnect power lines in some Butuan City Government offices and we hope they will understand ANECO’s predicament, because we are also obliged to pay our power bills to [National Grid Corporation of the Philippines] and [National Power Corp.] or else, if we don’t collect, we will also face power disconnection this time by NGCP and Napocor," Santos said.
ANECO will, however, spare the street lights at Butuan’s Rizal Park and the Butuan City Medical Center where hundreds of patients are confined, Santos said.
The city government said it will settle the unpaid electric bills Monday, June 7, to avoid further disconnections.
According to outgoing Butuan City Vice Mayor Dino Sanchez, City Treasurer Adolfo Llagas already talked to ANECO officials about the problem and that arrangements for an initial payment were already made.
Santos claimed ANECO called on the attention of the city government under the administration of Mayor Democrito Diayon Plaza “since a long time ago," but Butuan failed to settle its electricity bills because of a dispute with the power cooperative on payments of the gross tax.
ANECO initially settled its gross tax with the City Treasurer’s Office, but not anymore. "This is because, under the law, power cooperatives being non-profit, non-business entities are only obliged to pay power distribution system taxes," according to Santos.
The city government was insisting that ANECO owed it some P10 million in gross taxes and other back taxes, Santos said.
Santos claimed the Department of Finance issued a memorandum last March that ANECO, as a power cooperative and being a non-profit, service-oriented entity, must only pay for the power distribution system tax.
“What we want now is just to follow the correct process, and that is to pay only the distribution charges, because ANECO is only a power distribution cooperative not generation or transmission," Santos said. —BEN SERRANO/VS, GMANews.TV

i agree. i'm starting small 1. i just bough a jeepney 2. i wanna buy that cheap land for 210,000, i heard from my brother who is a forrester said that is a very cheap land. I cant wait to retire in Butuan in 5 years. If any one must know, life here in America is becoming very hard and competitive for jobs, most people think job is just easy, and thats it. Life can be brutal here, i'm sorry to burst the bubble of some peoples thinking. A lot of people are struggling here.
