Malls address only the Consumption phase of Economic activity. We have to take care as well the Production, Distribution and Trade phases.

In the end, lisod moadto ug Mall kung walay pampalit...:nuts:

I think moabot ra jud nang inyong Robinsons...Just be patient guys!

Here's the news article below released sometime in January this year

5,000 foreign students take English proficiency study

January 1, 2011, 4:15pm

http://www.mb.com.ph/node/295943/5000-foreign-

BUTUAN CITY (PNA) – Some 5,000 Chinese students, mostly high school students from mainland China, will soon arrive here for a one-year English proficiency study, the city government said.

City Councilor Ryan Anthony Culima said the arrival of the 5,000 Chinese students to this city was made possible through local private group, I-Study International.

Culima, chairman of Peace and Order, Security and Police Matters of the City Council, said the St. Joseph
Institute of Technology (SJIT) here had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with I-Study International for the one-year English Proficiency study of the Chinese students.

Culima is also a member of the Butuan City Council Committee on Education, Culture and Sports.

“Two other schools, the locally based Fr. Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) and state-owned Caraga State University (CSU), will follow with an agreement signing with the Chinese students and I-Study International for the accommodation of the rest of the 5,000 Chinese students who will be arriving first quarter of 2011,” Culima said.

Under the agreement, the foreign students will pay their tuition fees and other school fees in advance for one year and jointly develop curriculum for English proficiency that best fit the Chinese students which will be submitted to the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) for innovations, corrections, and approval.

Culima said that since the number of Chinese students is quite large, the city government offered a place for the Chinese students where there is easy access to stores, clinics or hospitals, sports, recreation, and study facilities.

“We already offered the 36-hectare Butuan City government property in Barangay Tiniwisan where there are already huge buildings that (will) be converted temporarily as dormitories and the large areas to be established as sports and recreation facilities. This will be rented by them for one year – an extra income for the city government. The Chinese students are now studying our proposal as they already agreed by principle,” Culima said.

Vice Mayor Lawrence Fortun confirmed that the city government, through Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante Jr., consulted Caraga police regional director Chief Supt. Reynaldo S. Rafal for the provision of security and other matters for the 5,000 Chinese students.

Thanks Ms. Bunny for the info.

Still, it would be better for us not to be beholden to the Chinese. Butuan was and should be an international city.

So it's government property pala... It shouldn't be credited then as belonging to the Plazas. :)

Caraga is lucky that the chinese has seen the Region's capabiltity in teaching english proficiency. they will only stay here for a year, but you can just imagine now how the schools, lodgings, fees, shopping, etc will benefit the Caraganons :)

Butuan City by-pass road completed
by Connie R. Calo

http://www.pia.gov.ph/?m=1&t=1&id=29887

BUTUAN CITY, Apr. 30 --The Butuan City By-Pass Road project, from Jct. Bonbon-Kinamlutan to Bancasi airport is already completed, this was announced by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Caraga OIC-Regional Director Danilo E. Versola.

With a total road length of 5.236 kms of concrete road and 50.0 lm of Bancasi Bridge, the project fulfills the objectives under the billion-pesos Diosdado Macapagal Bridge project on the west side of the river banks to provide an alternate access into the City from Surigao-Agusan-Davao Road to Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road and to lessen the traffic load on the already old Magsaysay Bridge.

It cost the national government a total of Php 452,476,072.27 and last activity of construction was completed last April 15, 2011.

“The road now continues from the Diosdado Macapagal Bridge to Bancasi airport without passing through the city proper thereby evading a heavy volume of traffic.” Versola added.
RD Versola also said that with the initial appropriation under the CY 2011 Infrastructure Program, DPWH is now aiming to start the opening on the east side portion, from Brgy. Lemon to NRJ Antongalon.

With the completion of the project, a more vibrant economic activity is seen in this historical city of Butuan. (DPWH-13/PIA-Caraga)

(DPWH-13/PIA-Caraga)

where could be the space for that bakashop/cafe from Tacloban as earlier posted in the official news?

Panny’s Bakeshop To Expand To Butuan City Next Year

Ormoc City, Leyte- Southern Leyte-based Panny’s Bakeshop or Panny’s Homebake Products will expand to Butuan City next year, the first branch outside Eastern Visayas and the firm’s fifth outlet.

Nestor M. Sy, bakery owner, said that they’ve seen a good prospect in Butuan considering the parallel economic conditions of the place to Tacloban City, a newly-urbanized city in this part of region 8.

“We have already conducted a survey in the area and we have identified the location there”, said Sy adding that establishing a new outlet will require them about P10M to P15 Million capital.

Butuan has a population of about 300,000.It is the regional center of the CARAGA Region. “Panny’s is upbeat of expanding to Mindanao after seeing the success of our business in Leyte”, he said.

The first bakery in Tacloban is located at corner Paterno and Gomez streets. Last y ear, they opened their first dine-in outlet at Juan Luna St.

“I intend to close the old branch when we opened the new bakery but our old customers don’t go to the new branch. We just maintain the old outlet and we’re able to draw new group of customers in our second bakeshop in Tacloban”, said Sy in a media interview in the sidelines of tourism officer’s conference here in this city.

Sy, who is also a City Councilor in Maasin, added that they were able to grow the business despite economic challenges considering the innovations they have done in the past years and the continuing demand for baked products.

“There’s no problem in food business because people have to eat. However, we have to sell quality products to stay competitive. Our products are oven-fresh and our outlets are clean. We adopted good manufacturing procedures of big companies, which we are serving also”, he explained.
The owner pointed out that those assets coupled with lower prices paved the way for their growth despite entry of national brands in Eastern Visayas.

“WE really want people to experience the taste of baked products that they can’t afford to buy from national brands”, Sy said.
Panny’s maintains a big volume of raw materials stock to avoid adjustment during price surge of main ingredients.
Panny’s has now 30 baked products and it’s all available in Tacloban’s dine-in bakeshop.

The bakery opened its first outlet in Maasin City in 1991.It expanded to Tacloban after five years and branched out in Baybay City just this year. The bakery’s name was derived from Epifania, the name of Sy’s wife.

“It started as a hobby. My wife baked at home and our visitors liked it. That convince us to open a bakeshop”, he told reporters.(SARWELL Q. MENIANO,guest writer, Leyte Samar Daily Express, August 31,2010 issue).

correct JSL....development must be wholistic...Physical Infrastructure development must be always be coupled with social infrastructure...

and I am proud to say that Butuan's emphasis on these two infras (physical and social) are given much attention now.... by taking a look at how fast we have put up lenghthy new highways......expanded our two seaports....constructing iconic public transport facilities like the new bridge etc...will surely be complemented by bigger private devellopment counterparts from private investors..

for me, these kind of projects should be realized first before the big companies come in. roads are really essential in the development of our city.

mas maayo nang ready na daan for the big names to come kaysa mag-una ang mga big names unya later magka-problema sa traffic flow kay gamay ang dalan or wala alternate route.:)

Security Bank to focus on loans
By Ted P. Torres (The Philippine Star) Updated April 18, 2011 12:00

http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=677422&publicationSubCategoryId=66

MANILA, Philippines - Medium-sized commercial bank Security Banking Corp. will be turning more to the lending market to make up for the relative weakening of the equities market.

Security Bank president and chief executive officer Alberto S. Villarosa said the bank’s drivers for growth in 2011 will be the consumer and middle market lending market, and the growth of the capital and investment markets.

“There are a couple of equity offerings where we would participate as domestic runners,” Villarosa said, adding that there are likewise opportunities for huge revenue streams from its treasury operations.

“It will continue to be a strong both in the top line and the bottom line,” he said.

To offset the possible reduction in earnings, Security Bank has undertaken an aggressive program of expansion.

The bank will open at least 10 branches in 2011, aside from five branches in various stages of completion located in Ormoc, Dumaguete, Butuan, Koronadal, and Catarman.

That would allow Security Bank to expand its consumer and middle market deposit and lending base.

Villarosa said that they continue to look for opportunity to expand via the inorganic or acquisition mode. Aside from outright acquisitions, Security Bank is likewise open to acquiring deposit and loan portfolios.

“We’re coming from a high 2010, I don’t think the analysts are expecting us to replicate,” he added.

Last year, the bank recorded a record P7.2 billion in net income from the impressive P3-billion in 2009. However, the record earnings in 2010 was fueled by one-time gains (P3.2 billion) which may not be duplicated in 2011.

Despite the unique position in 2010, Villarosa remains optimistic that Security Bank will perform impressively this year.

In the past years, annual income earnings grew by double-digits on the average, and a consistent leader in terms of earnings to its stakeholders.

Welcome SECURITY BANK!

A: Simple! That’s my father’s name.

Boy Calo = Mahilig kumain at kailangan masarap. Di maarte ang taste buds kaya panay Filipino, Chinese, and other Asian cuisines ang gusto. (pero mahilig din sa steak. So im going to make an exception and still serve that in the restaurant) Barkadista din at mahilig uminom. Kaya, ayun! BOY’S FILIPINO & ASIAN HOMECOOKING, BEER AND WINE ROOM, at kung anu-ano pa!

Hindi ito men’s club, at lalong hindi ito gay bar.

Butuan PNP on red alert
after NPA attack
Thursday, April 28, 2011 10:20 PM
CAMP RAFAEL RODRIGUEZ, Libertad,
Butuan City— About 100 suspected New
Peoples Army rebels attacked at 5 a.m.
Thursday the Lianga Municipal Police Station in
the heavily populated Lianga Poblacion.
The rebels were said to be from the North
Eastern Mindanao Regional Command of the
Communist Party of the Philippines/National
Ddemocratic Front/NPA, according to the
police.
CARAGA PNP regional director Chief Supt.
Reynaldo S. Rafal, one M-16 rifle and three hand
grenades left by the attacking rebels were
recovered by the police and military operatives
after the attack.
"We suspect many were wounded on the NPA
side, because… bloodstains [were] found [along]
their escape routes. Reinforcing elements of the
29th Infantry Batallion engaged the enemy
blocking force", Rafal said
Following threats of even more NPA attacks in
the region, Rafal has ordered all police stations
in the CARAGA region put on red alert.
Rafal has also ordered intensified intelligence
activity among police networks, following
criticisms of "intelligence lapses" that have led to
attacks on checkpoints and police stations.
Rafal also said that PNP checkpoints have now
been established in vital areas of the region.
Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro City-based
Philippine Army 4th Infantry Division
Commanding General Major Gen. Victor Felix
has ordered pursuit operations against the
rebels who attacked the Lianga Police Station. —

CCTV camera to help deter crimes, Butuan solon says
by Robert E. Roperos

BUTUAN CITY, May 2 (PIA) -- Congressman Jose S. Aquino II of the first congressional district covering Butuan City and the municipality of Las Nieves in Agusan del Norte recently said the use of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras may help in deterring crimes in a progressive city like Butuan.

PSupt. Francisco Dungo, Butuan City Plice Office (BCPO) Deputy City Director for Operations said CCTV cameras have helped the Philippine National Police (PNP) in other big cities in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao in monitoring crime incidence.

Cong. Aquino, said he will propose to the city government that they will collectively purchase some 15 cameras to be installed in conspicuous places in the city before the end of this year.

“The introduction of such technology in our locality, I consider, would prevent the occurrence of hideous activities and significantly enhance business opportunities,” Cong. Aquino said.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors.

It differs from broadcast television in that the signal is not openly transmitted, though it may employ point to point (P2P), point to multipoint, or mesh wireless links.

Though almost all video cameras fit this definition, the term is most often applied to those used for surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as banks, casinos, airports, military installations, and convenience stores. (PIA-Caraga)

Villar property firm eyes projects for more provinces
(http://bworldonline.com/content.php?section=Corporate&title=Villar-property-firm-eyes-projects-for-more-provinces&id=30584)Posted on May 02, 2011 01:36:41 PM | BREAKING NEWS

VILLAR-LED developer Vista Land & Lifescapes, Inc. wants to start projects in close to 20 new areas around the country, the property firm said in a statement on Monday.

Expansion in new areas will allow the company to tap low to mid-market segments for families of overseas Filipinos, the firm said.

“The majority of our overseas Filipino workers hail from the provinces and there is strong preference for house and lot in their hometown or province of origin which they intend to live-in with their families," Benjamarie Therese N. Serrano, president and chief executive of Vista Land, said in the statement.

"We intend to further cement our hold in this market with the country-wide expansion,” Ms. Serrano added.

Sixteen new areas were cited: Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Nueva Ecija, Bicol, Batangas, Quezon, Bataan, Pampanga, Davao, Butuan, Agusan del Sur and Zamboanga.

Shares in Vista Land, whose profits jumped by 31% to P3.013 billion last year, fell by one centavo to close at P3.15 each on Monday. --Neil Jerome C. Morales

Morales

Coffee Dream Shop

http://www.franchisephil.info/cafes/coffee-dream-shop/

Coffee Dream specifically caters to mid-low market segment who are largely untapped by the big players. This specific market (BC market) can’t afford to splurge on a cup of coffee worth more than a third of their daily income. Cebuanos are smart consumers and they don’t readily go for brand names, rather price and quality.

Over the past ten years since it opened its first outlet, Coffee Dream has outlets spread across the country in Manila, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, among others. This year it is eyeing an expansion, specifically focused on “missionary markets” - small and medium-sized cities such as Dumaguete, Butuan and Gen. Santos City.

:)

------------------------

Their Gensan branch opened last March 2011, I am not sure about their Dumaguete branch. When naman kaya ang for Butuan?

look how Coffee Dream under rated Butuan, Dumaguete and Gensan:lol:

they label these cities as "missionary markets"...

"missionary" means low volume markets with a chance of loss...tsk tsk

I suggest the branch management and development team of Coffee Dream visit these cities mentioned and find for themselves how vibrant coffee culture are in these cities NOW....what they should realize is...there are a lot of cafes in Butuan, GenSan and Dumaguete that are even more leveled up than Cofee Dream....

thanks anyway coffee dream:)

SMDC, Ayala Land unit secure tax perks for condos

PROPERTY units of the Ayala and SM groups separately secured tax and other perks from the Board of Investments (BOI) for mass housing projects that would begin construction this year, the incentive-giving agency said.

In a statement, the BOI said it approved the grant of income tax holiday and other perks to SM Development Corp.’s P1.667-billion vertical mass housing project called Mezza II Residences. The 40-storey condominium would rise over a 2,592-square meter tract of land in Quezon City. Its commercial operations would begin in October and 716 people would be hired.

The BOI also awarded incentives to Ayala-led Avida Land Corp.’s P444.9-million mass housing venture dubbed Avida Towers Cebu. A 22-story tower would be built over a 3,131-square meter lot within Asiatown IT Park in Cebu City. Commercial operations start this month and 385 people would be employed.

The incentives-giving agency as well approved the registration of Asiatic Development Corp.’s P280 million horizontal mass housing project named Townsville Sto. Tomas Phase II in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

A total of 558 low cost units would be constructed over a 6.3-hectare land. Two hundred forty people would be hired when commercial operations commence in July.

Besides the three mass housing projects, the BOI granted perks to the P38.6-million expansion of Celebes Coconut Corp.’s facility in Butuan City. The company, which produces desiccated coconut, would put up an additional production line whose annual capacity of 6,912 metric tons (MT) will almost double the current annual capacity of 7,587 MT. The output of the new line would be processed to produce virgin coconut oil. Operations would start this month and 93 more people would be employed.

CONGRATS UCPB BUTUAN BRANCH!

According to my cousin who is a bank employee, for 3 consecutive years UCPB Butuan remained the Top performing branch in Mindanao.

Bongga pa naman daw ang UCPB coz when this happens, all their staffs & employees including their security guards will go to Manila to attend the Awarding Ceremony. Last year or the other year?, they all went to Hongkong as part of their reward/prize.

::

look how Coffee Dream under rated Butuan, Dumaguete and Gensan:lol:

they label these cities as "missionary markets"...

They'll soon find out.... :nono:

LOVERKADA Kids na Suportado ng RMN Butuan at iFM Grand Champion sa Sayaw Fever na Inilunsad sa Cebu City - 1 Milyon pesos na premyo nakuha
Sunday, 01 May 2011 18:41 NEWS - National .

Vista Land plans dollar bond offering
By Paolo Montecillo
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 19:39:00 05/04/2011

MANILA, Philippines—Villar-led Vista Land and Lifescapes Inc. plans another dollar bond sale to raise funds for its expansion to new areas in the country this year.

In a disclosure on Wednesday, the real-estate giant said it would issue additional US dollar notes. This would go on top of the $100 million in debt paper the company sold in September last year.

The new notes will have the same terms as those of the company’s previous offering. They will be consolidated with the previous offering to form a single series.

“The board further authorized the implementation of all necessary corporate and other actions to proceed with the offering and the issuance of the aforementioned notes. It authorized and empowered management to decide on the final issue size,” the company said.

Vista Land’s previous offering fetched a rate of 8.25 percent per year. The notes will mature in 2015.

Earlier this week, the company, owned by Senator Manuel Villar, said it would embark on a major expansion to 16 new areas across the country in the next 12 months.

The areas identified for its expansion program include Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte; La Union; Nueva Ecija; Bicol; Batangas; Quezon; Bataan; Pampanga; Davao; Butuan, Agusan del Sur; and Zamboanga.

“The expansion to these areas will give Filipino families more opportunities to own homes as Vista Land provides options for low- to mid-market segments at various price points,” Vista Land CEO Benjamarie Therese Serrano said in a statement.

Serrano said these projects would cater to the families of overseas Filipino workers.

“The majority of our OFWs hail from the provinces and there is strong preference for house and lot in their hometown or province of origin which they intend to live in with their families,” Serrano said.

The company said its subdivision projects would cover areas of at least 10 hectares each and would be strategically located.

“Buyers have a myriad of house models to choose from and can look forward to living in themed, master-planned communities. Vista Land ensures that all its projects are well maintained even after turnover, through property managers,” Serrano said.

Vista Land last month reported a 31-percent jump in its net profit last year to P3.01 billion, on the back of record-high real-estate revenues.

The company—which derives 60 percent of its business from households supported by overseas Filipino remittances—booked P11.34 billion in revenue from real-estate sales, up by 18 percent from 2009.

Nurses’ quarters at regional health office building renovated, unveiled
by PSupt Martin M. Gamba

BUTUAN CITY, May 5 – Police Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Rafal, Police Regional Office (PRO) Caraga Regional Director spearheaded the unveiling of the newly-renovated Regional Health Service Female Nurses’ Quarters and Office Building on Tuesday at Camp Rafael C Rodriquez, Libertad, this city.

The activity was sponsored by the Regional Logistics Research Development Division which was attended by PRO-13 key officers and personnel together with Regional Health Service 13 personnel headed by Police Supt. Ramiro G. Viola.

In 1997 the PRO 13 under the leadership of its Regional Director PCSupt. Manuel Raval, received a financial support in the amount of Php 800,000.00 from then Senator Robert Z. Barbers for the construction of PRO 13 Nurses’ Quarters.

After 14 years, PRO-13 allocated an amount of Php 498,000.00 thru its Trust Receipts from the Firearms Fees Program of Expenditures of Calendar Year 2010 for building repair of the Nurses’ Quarters.

A program was conducted during the turn-over and acceptance of the said building where Rafal together with PCI Daniela Radaza, Admin PCO of Regional Health Service 13 Nursing Service cut the ribbon and unveiled the building marker.

Meanwhile, PCI Marlou N. Labares, Regional Chaplain led the spiritual blessings. Immediately, Rafal and Radaza then signed the Certificate of Turn-over and Acceptance of the Nurses’ Quarters and Office Building witnessed by PRO 13’s Key officers and personnel.

In his message, RD Rafal expressed gratitude to the efforts made by the command group and R4 Division for the completion of the building renovation. (PNP-PRO-13/PIA-Caraga)

Butuan ex-solon promoted to AFP reserve force Brig. Gen.

BUTUAN CITY, May 5 (PIA) – Former congresswoman Charito B. Plaza of the first district of Agusan del Norte, was recently promoted to brigadier general of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Force. President Benigno S. Aquino III promoted Plaza from the rank of colonel effective March 26, 2011, in an order issued on April 27, 2011.

This made Brig. Gen. Plaza the first female general of Mindanao. She was also instrumental in the creation of the Region 13, also known as CARAGA, which is comprised of four (4) provinces in Mindanao namely Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.

Plaza is the youngest Commissioned Lieutenant Colonel at 29 years old after finishing her Masters in National Security Administration at the National Defense College of the Philippines. She was also the youngest reservist, at 35 years old, to be promoted to full colonel after finishing the AFP Command and General Staff Course.

Brig. Gen. Plaza earned her Ph.D. in Peace and Security Administration from the Bicol State University (a UN Commission on Disarmament program). She finished her doctoral studies in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City.

Her chosen field on Defense and Security was further enhanced after her post -graduate courses from the University of Melbourne, Australia “On Conflict Resolution and Management” and the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University, Massachusetts, USA on the course National and International Security Management.

Brig. Gen. Plaza is the recipient of one of the AFP’s highest award, three Outstanding Achievement Medals for her successful negotiation with Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) soldiers of Chairman Nur Misuari in the Muslim Provinces in Mindanao in 2003 and the surrender of 100 army soldiers under renegade Colonel Noble in 1992 in Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.

The lady General also sponsored several landmark legislation on the increase of the base pay of the men in uniform, tax exemption privileges on importation of arms, equipment, hardware, software and munitions of the AFP and the PNP, and other benefits for the Reserve Force and the Regular Component of the AFP, during her stint as Vice Chairman of the Committee on National Defense of the Philippine Congress.

Plaza was also responsible for the establishment of the State Partnership Program between the USA National Guards of the State of Hawaii and Guam and the AFP Reserve Force. (PIA-Caraga)

Does The Fossil Fuel Deposit in Mindanao is The Source of Oil Deposit Around The World?
by lahingpinoy in Economics, May 5, 2011

It tells about The issue regarding with Mindanao Oil Deposit.

Good day fellas, in this article, we will recall one of the controversial issues regarding with fossil fuel deposit in Mindanao Philippines. I’m giving you the chance to criticize those issues if it was really true or just a rumor, I also need your insights by having comments in this article. Many people believe that this issue is a hoax, while there are few people who really believed it.

Now let me start the short story of the issue:

“Mindanao fossil fuel deposit is the mother lode from which other oil producing countries’ crude oil emanates”.

This is the Theory of Canadian engineers and geologists from (Canadian National Oil Company) when they visited the Butuan City and made a study regarding of the bursting black, muddy flammable liquid within a hectare yard of Bolongaita Residence last 1985. The black, muddy flammable liquid bursts from the water well that was being dug by Bolongoita family. After Canadian engineers and geologist conducted their study, they told and confided to Bolongaita family that the flammable liquid which bursts from their water well was a fossil fuel deposit. They explained to the family that their discovery is only part of the huge fossil fuel deposit found in Mindanao which reaches as far as Cotabato Provinces.

That was the brief story of the issue, while according to a certain news, after the government officials talked to these Canadians, they never came back. There were also many foreigners who visited the area (Butuan City, Mindanao) including Japanese and Americans having similar findings with Canadians Studies, but similar to Canadians, they never came back after having a conversation with the government official. The Year 1985 was still under the regime of former President Ferdinand Marcos.

Now fellas, can you really believe that the issue is true?

Can you really believe that the fossil fuel deposit in Mindanao is the mother lode from which oil producing countries’ crude oil emanates? Or you may prefer to consider it as a hoax?

Why does the foreigner engineers and geologist never came back after being talked by the government officials?

What was their conversation all about?

No one can really tell if this issue is true or not, if it was really the mother lode from other oil producing countries’ crued oil. However, lately the Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines identified a huge oil deposit and a natural gases in Mindanao including Davao to Agusan Basin particularly in Butuan City.

Wow, from this angle, the area looks huge :)

The enclosed lot at the back of the Amadeo building is where their hotel & convention center will rise, hopefully early next year as what BOB had gathered from an insider.

East West expanding

East West Banking Corp., the banking unit of the Filinvest Group, continued its expansion this year, with the opening of a new branch in Mindanao.

The bank said the opening of its branch in Butuan City in Agusan del Norte province brought to 114 its total number of branches nationwide.

The newly-opened Butuan branch is located within the vicinity of major business establishments and government offices in Butuan City. An automated teller machine was installed in the branch for quick cash withdrawals, bills payment and other electronic banking requirements.

“The opening of Butuan branch is part of the bank’s overall corporate thrust to aggressively expand its network and enhance its delivery channels in order to service more clients in key areas nationwide,” East West Bank said. Roderick T. dela Cruz
