Cebu Pacific to increase domestic flights in Q4

MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Pacific (CEB) will increase its domestic flights in the fourth quarter of 2011, making available 33 percent more seats with the delivery of three more brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft in October, allowing the Gokongwei-owned airline to continue to offer the lowest possible fares in the market.

“This is in line with CEB’s continued commitment to promote tourism and economy in the destinations it flies to. Foreign and local travelers can book CEB’s lowest fares to explore the Philippines’ top beaches and diving sites, and attend the country’s most popular fiestas,” CEB vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog said.

“We already offer the most flights and the lowest fares to Cebu and Davao, two key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao, compared to any other airline. Tourists will have faster, easier access to the most extensive route network in the country,” she added.

With increased flight frequencies, CEB will also continue to have the most flights to popular tourist destinations such as Boracay, Coron, Dumaguete and Cagayan de Oro. CEB will increase flight schedules in the following routes: effective Oct. 1, 2011 — Manila-Butuan-Manila (2x to 3x daily), Manila-Gen. Santos-Manila (2x to 3x daily), Manila-Tacloban-Manila (4x to 5x daily), Manila-Davao-Manila (from 45x to 49x weekly); Effective Oct. 7, 2011 -Manila-Davao-Manila (7x to 8x daily), Manila-Dumaguete-Manila (2x to 3x daily), Manila-Roxas-Manila (7x to 12x weekly), Cebu-Butuan-Cebu (7x to 11x weekly), Manila-Boracay (Caticlan)-Manila (86x to 91x weekly), Cebu-Dumaguete-Cebu (3x to 7x weekly), Cebu-Pagadian-Cebu (4x to 7x weekly); additional seats (from ATR 72-500 to Airbus A319) — Cebu-Ozamiz-Cebu (daily), Manila-Tuguegarao-Manila (daily).

EastWest Bank buys Green Bank of Caraga

MANILA, Philippines—Gotianun-led EastWest Bank is set to acquire the 46-branch rural bank Green Bank of Caraga, gaining a foothold into the microfinance business.

The acquisition, which has been approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, has brought back EastWest into the banking merger and acquisition (M&A) arena two years after taking over AIG Philam Savings Bank.

The consolidation of Green Bank into its books will add close to P3 billion in assets to EastWest, which ended the first semester with P83.1 billion in resources and P9.7 billion in capitalization.

“This is another milestone for EastWest Bank as this acquisition marks our full entry into the small and micro-finance arena,” said EastWest president Antonio C. Moncupa Jr.

“Through this acquisition, EastWest Bank will be able to provide this under served segment wider access to innovative products and delivery channels,” Moncupa added.

Microfinance refers to the provision of financial services such as loans, savings, and insurance to the entrepreneurial poor.

“We intend to create synergies in the branch channel by finding areas of cooperation between the two banks within the regulatory framework. We think that over time, it will be optimal to integrate most of the Green Bank branches into EastWest even as Green Bank continues to pursue its focus to serve small and micro enterprises,” Moncupa said.

In 2009, EastWest boosted its consumer lending business with the acquisition of the consumer finance units of AIG bundled into AIG Philam Savings Bank. Prior to that M&A, it gobbled up Ecology Savings Bank Inc. in 2003.

EastWest, a subsidiary of publicly listed Filinvest Development Corp., posted a first-semester net profit of P884 million, up by 3.1 percent from a year ago, as higher earnings from lending activities offset a much-anticipated slowdown in trading gains.

This brought EastWest Bank’s return-on-equity for the first half of the year to 18.1 percent and return on assets at 2.3 percent, one of the best-performing in the banking industry.

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 25 (PIA) – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Caraga conducted an orientation for the 40 fourth to sixth class municipalities of Caraga on the utilization of the Performance Challenge Fund Subsidy on August 22, 2011 held at the Dottie’s Place Hotel and Restaurant, this city.

The orientation was purposely conducted to clarify documentary requirements in the availment of the PCF subsidy (at P1,000,000 per municipality) and to instill the commitment for the timely submission of the monitoring/progress reports and required attachments of the municipalities in Region XIII which passed the criteria for the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) for Calendar Year 2011.

The activity framed discussions on the PCF General Implementing Guidelines, Fund Implementation Flow and Monitoring and Evaluation Flow of the PCF. The orientation was attended by the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators and Municipal Accountants.

The PCF shall encourage convergence of local development projects with the present administration’s priority programs for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), maintenance of core road network to boost tourism and local economic development, the objectives of the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, and the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

DILG-Caraga Regional Director Atty. Rene K. Burdeos congratulated all the 40 PCF recipients and encouraged them to sumit immediately their project proposals included in the Annual Investment Program funded under the 20% Development Fund to avail of the Php1-M PCF subsidy. (DILG-13/PIA-Caraga)

Major investments pour in Agusan del Norte

AGUSAN DEL NORTE, Aug. 26 (PIA) -- Municipalities in Agusan del Norte are expected to be flooded with big-time foreign investors. These investors will establish their businesses in the Co-Management Project Area of LASBUENASCAR (Las Nieves, Buenavista, Nasipit, Carmen) which covers 56,000 hectares of land.
Agusan del Norte Governor Erlpe John M. Amante revealed that most of the businesses will constitute agricultural production. In fact, two of the foreign investors have already paid P500,000 for cash bond fee.
The governor further said that the local government of LASBUENASCAR will benefit rent income from investors.

Went to Calot this pm. And to my shock... Daghan na au mga tao! daghan na au mga balay. T-T... Went there to visit our farm.. pero murag di na farm tan awon kay puro na mga balay sa kilid... Last time we went to the city hall, Agricultural zone ang didto dapit.. That's why gi develop among farm didto..

Anyway, nindot kay naay changes sa Butuan.. but I'm worried kay basin musaka ang tax didto dapit kay pirting dakua raba sa yuta.

AACCUP visits CSU

The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. visited the Caraga State University (CSU) for accreditation survey visit in some of its curricular programs in Butuan Campus last July 26-29, 2011. The AACCUP survey teams were headed by Dr. Emmanuel A. Lariosa as the Overall Coordinator/Consultant with Engr. Jonathan M. Tiongson, Director for Quality Assurance Management Services (QuAMS) as the CSU Coordinator.

Programs for first survey visit are the BS Biology, BS Environmental Science, and BS Geodetic Engineering while those for preliminary visit are BS Agriculture, BS Forestry, BS Computer Science, and BS Information Technology.

The survey team for BS Biology is composed of Dr. Reggie Y. dela Cruz of CMU as Team Leader with members - Dr. Tessie E. Lerios of USM, Dr. Emilia P. Pacoy of USEP, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa of DOSCST, Dr. Asterio Olandria of DOSCST, and Prof. Ivanhoe S. Onate (Lib.) of MUST.

The survey team for BS Environmental Science is composed of Dr. Rodelyn M. Dalayap of SKSU as Team Leader with members – Engr. Virginia D. Suarez of MUST, Dr. Emilia P. Pacoy of USEP, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa of DOSCST, Dr. Asterio Olandria of DOSCST, and Prof. Ivanhoe S. Onate (Lib.) of MUST.

The survey team for BS Geodetic Engineering is composed of Engr. Metodia M. Trinidad of MSU – IIT as Team Leader with members - Dr. Evelyn P. Deligero of USEP, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa of DOSCST, Dr. Emilia P. Pacoy of USEP, Dr. Asterio Olandria of DOSCST, and Prof. Ivanhoe S. Onate (Lib.) of MUST.

The lead accreditor for BS Agriculture, and BS Forestry was Dr. Jupiter V. Casas of CMU while for BS Computer Science, and BS Information Technology was Prof. Alberto C. Arellano of USM.

The accreditation survey visit started with the courtesy call of the AACCUP survey teams to the Office of the University President, Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca last July 26, 2011 at 8 o’clock in the morning. This was followed by an Opening Program at the Sanchez Gymnasium.

Highlights of the Opening Program included the Welcome Remarks of the University President which was followed with the Introduction of the Overall Coordinator of the AACCUP Survey Team by the Director of QuAMS. It was the Overall Coordinator, Dr. Lariosa who introduced the Team Leaders and members of the different survey teams. He then gave an Orientation of the Accreditation Process, and Schedule of Activities. Closing Remarks was given by Dr. Luisito I. Tabada, Vice President for Academic Affairs. The said program was attended by the members of the Board of Regents, Faculty members, University Officials, students of the University, and other stakeholders.

Then, a meeting was conducted between the accreditors and their local task force counterparts for leveling off of expectations as to activities and schedule. Thereafter, the accreditors proceeded to the respective college accreditation centers where programs under survey are hosted for gathering of information, interviews, and observation.

Field visit to extension sites was conducted in the morning of July 27, 2011 with Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa as lead accreditor while the rest of the accreditors conducted the panel interview with key administration officials, and with the students.

The exit conference was conducted on July 28, 2011 at 3:30 in the afternoon. It was at this junction that acrreditors presented their findings as to the strengths, areas needing improvement, and recommendations to the program administrators, university officials, students in the programs under survey, and other stakeholders.

The survey culminated with the Closing Program following immediately after the exit conference with highlights which included the Overall Impressions of the Programs Under Survey by Dr. Emmanuel A. Lariosa, Overall Coordinator/Consultant which was responded with Words of Commitment from the University President, Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca.

The results of the programs in the First Survey Visit will be released in about three month’s time. The BS Agriculture, and BS Forestry qualified for First Survey Visit after one year while the BS Computer Science, and BS Information Technology qualified for First Survey Visit in six month’s time.

Accreditation is viewed as a process by which an institution at the tertiary level evaluates its educational activities, in whole or in part, and seeks an independent judgment to confirm that it substantially achieves its objectives, and is generally equal in quality to comparable institutions. Currently, accreditation in state colleges and universities is by program.

CSU in Partnership with NBDB Spearheads the Booklatan sa Caraga

The National Book Development Board (NBDB) in partnership with Caraga State University spearheaded the first ever Booklatan sa Caraga last July 21-22, 2011 at CSU.

The affair was a resounding success. Former Executive Secretary and Agusan solon Honorable Edelmiro A. Amante graced the Booklatan sa Caraga as guest speaker. Congressman Amante’s presence inspired everyone because he is himself a book lover, a book reader and a book writer. His passion for reading and readership promotion is evident in the books that he wrote and published.

Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca, CSU President also gave an enthusiastic and warm welcome to all the participants of the Booklatan sa Caraga.

The Booklatan sa Caraga program endeavors to promote book readership and book development through the following program components:
Readership Enhancement and Advancement (READ) Program for Trainors/How to Read Poetry (1 day)
Storytelling Training Workshop (1 day)
Informative Session on Copyright
Participants of the seminar are English and Filipino teachers, and librarians of public and private schools of Caraga Region. It is hoped that the participants will share the knowledge they gained to their respective schools when they get back.

CSU Performs PROSAFE Training and Fire Drill

Caraga State University conducted a PROSAFE Training and Fire Drill last July 19, 2011 with the help of Bureau of Fire Protection - Butuan City Fire Station.
Men from the different units, colleges, and offices of CSU participated on the drill held at the CSU Conference Room.

SFO2 Bomen T. Lofranco, SFO1 Deborah M. Lianos, and FO3 Jason Lee R. Lagnada were among the invited representatives from Butuan City Fire Station. Important topics tackled on the training included an introduction to Fire Services, Fire Behavior, Fire Scenario, Fire Safety Tips, Rescue and First Aid Return Demo, Safety Practices on LPG, Concept and Operation of Fire Extinguisher, etc.

A Practical Exercise was also conducted to test the readiness of the participants in firefighting and to assess what they learned from the training. This was done outside the Administration Building, which was by the way the most important office in the university.

The PROSAFE Training and Fire Drill was performed to educate CSU Personnel on what to do in case a fire occurs in the university. The training also evaluates whether or not the Caraga State University is equipped to have its own fire station that is not only ready to help the university in case of fire, but also its extended community like Ampayon.

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – The Deutsche Gessellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the city government here formalized and strengthened their partnership by signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Technical Assistance and Advisory Package on Co-Management Area, in an effort to spur the economic development in the Caraga Region’s capital city.

After a year of close coordination, the agreement was sealed on Tuesday by Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr., representing the city government, and Dr. Stephanie Schell-Faucon, principal advisor of GIZ-Conflict Sensitive Resource and Asset Management (COSERAM), at the City Mayor’s Office here.

Under the MoA, the GIZ-COSERAM will provide technical and financial support to the city’s effort to incorporate disaster-risk-reduction and climate-change-adaptation in its Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP).

Amante said the agreement aims to ensure that governance of natural resources and assets is implemented in a peaceful and sustainable manner benefiting the community.

GIZ-COSERAM works throughout the Caraga Region with an integrated approach to poverty reduction and peace building.

The agreement also includes capacity development for multi-stakeholder dialogue processes and participatory Barangay Development Planning in the eight pilot villages of Amparo, Nongnong, San Mateo, Bitan-agan, Manila de Bugabus, Tungao, Dulag, and MG Santos, all of this city.

According to Dr. Schell-Faucon, to advance the socio-economic development of the Nasipit Lumber Company area, that covers around 11,000 hectares of land, this will be the starting point in implementing the project.

“GIZ wanted to support Caraga Region for the fact that it is one of the poorest regions in the Philippines yet it is very rich in terms of natural resources and it has the potential for development,” said Faucon.

Discipline zone to be created in Butuan City

LIBERTAD, Butuan City, Aug. 26 (PIA) -- Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) Director PSSupt Jose Velasquez Carillo signed the Letter of Instruction (LOI) 21/2011 signalling the green light for the implementation of the “Discipline Zone” in Butuan City.

Said LOI will serve as the guidelines in the creation of Discipline Zone in the city streets of Butuan. It involved the conduct of Security and Traffic Operations, Anti-Littering/Clean-Up Drive and Pedestrian and Motorist Discipline Advocacy.

PSSUPT Carillo intends to institutionalize said LOI to resolve the problems of Traffic Congestions, Illegal Vending and Littering by utilizing all available PNP personnel of Butuan City Police Office and its resources.

Uniformed personnel will be sent in the streets for traffic control and police visibility together with the City’s LTTMO and Barangay Tanods.

Director Carillo said that by implementing the Discipline Zone, he wanted to instill in the minds of motorists, pedestrians and commuters the value of discipline among citizens as a mean to attain public order and enforcing traffic laws and ordinances with “Zero Tolerance”.

PSSUPT Carillo has also coordinated with the LGU, barangay officials, LTTMO, School Adminitrators, PTAs and Drivers/Operators Associations of Butuan to work together to implement city ordinances and traffic laws such as Illegal Terminals, Loading and Unloading Zone, Obstruction in the Flow of Traffic, Illegal parking, Disregarding Traffic Lights, Throwing of Garbages anywhere, Illegal Peddlers and Smoking in Public Places in the Discipline Zone.

The Discipline Zone will initially cover the area in the vicinity of Libertad in front of Butuan City Police Station 3, Sacred Heart Kindergarten School and Saint Joseph Cathedral along JC Aquino Avenue going to Butuan City Elementary School at AD Curato Street, Butuan City. Director Carillo intends for the public to give emphasis on the observance of law rather than its enforcement and urged them to help the PNP in its endeavor.

It can be recalled that on August 19, 2011, PSSUPT Carillo headed a briefing at BCPO Conference Room attended by BCPO personnel, BCPS 1 personnel, PO1s undergoing FTP, LTTMO personnel and Honorable Ryan Anthony B Culima, Butuan City Councilor wherein Director Carillo disscused in the briefing the Orientation on Implementation of Discipline Zone within the city of Butuan and scheduled a dry run on the third week of August 2011 covering the areas of Montilla Boulevard crossing JC Aquino Avenue to AD Curato catering the butuan City Elementary School and Agusan national High School. BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 24 (PIA) -- After a year of coordination, the Deutsche Gessellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Butuan City government finally formalized and strengthened their partnership by signing the memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Technical Assistance and Advisory package on Co-Management Area.

This agreement was sealed by Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. as the city mayor Butuan City government and Dr. Stephanie Schell-Faucon, Principal Advisor of GIZ- Conflict Sensitive Resource and Asset Management (COSERAM) on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the City Mayor’s Office-Conference Room 2, this city.

GIZ-COSERAM will provide technical and financial support to the city's effort to incorporate disaster-risk-reduction and climate-change-adaptation in its Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP).

The said program aims to ensure that governance of natural resources and assets is implemented in a peaceful and sustainable manner benefiting the community. GIZ-COSERAM works throughout the Caraga region with an integrated approach to poverty reduction and peace building.

Moreover, the program includes capacity development for multi-stakeholder dialogue processes and participatory Barangay Development planning in eight (8) pilot barangays namely: Aparo, Nongnong, San Mateo, Bitan-agan, Manila de Bugabus, Tungao, Dulag and MG Santos.

According to Dr. Schell-Faucon, to advance the socio-economic development of the Nasipit Lumber Company area that covers around 11 thousand hectares of land will be the starting point in doing the project.

“GIZ wanted to support Caraga region for the fact that it is one of the poorest regions in the Philippines yet it is very rich in terms of natural resources and it has the potential for development,” Faucon stressed.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Amante emphasizes that this partnership with the GIZ-COSERAM is basically aimed to secure the land, people and development of Caraga.

from my sources....they did not mention a thing on savemore or hypermarket...."SM" and "mall" ang term ila kanunay gamiton :)

from Samping side to the side of Kyx Store.....I think the lot is now way too big for just a save more....its even bigger than the lot size of SM City Sta Mesa in New Manila QC

Speaking of cathedral, they installed brand new LCD panels recently. If you walk through the nave, you can see it sa left and right. Nice gyud ni aron makakita na gyud sa mga tao kung unsa ang response, hymns, etc. kulang nalang is kanang makita gyud ang nag sermon.

Nindot pud kung i enclose na nila ang cathedral with glass entrances then with airconditioning like in Manila Cathedral.

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 28 (PIA) -- Six (6) Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers from Caraga region were nominated for the the National Best PESO Award. Deliberation will be done by the Bureau of Local Employment. Awarding will be held during the 11th National PESO Congress set on October 5-7, 2011.
The regional selection was done by the Evaluation Team headed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga Regional Director Ofelia Domingo with staff from Technical Support Services Division (TSSD), Field Office Heads, Austin Bade of OWWA, Mariell Eunice Conde of Father Saturnino Urios University and Cecil Ybanez, columnist of the Mindanao News Courier, as members who sat down on August 22, 2011 to work on the challenging task of determining the most qualified nominees for the National Best PESO award.
Nominees were evaluated according to Impact of Performance/Achievement (80%) which cover Core Services, Referral and Placement, Number of Labor Market Information (LMI) reports submitted, Number of Career Guidance conducted and beneficiaries, and DOLE Programs implemented; Recipient of Awards from prestigious institutions (10%), and Leadership in any prestigious organization with contribution to employment (10%)
During the initial deliberation, the body agreed to select two (2) best contenders for the following categories: Municipal PESO (1st– 4th class); Provincial PESO (1st & 2nd Class); Highly Urbanized City PESO; Component City PESO.
After a thorough deliberation, the following nominees emerged as winners in their respective category: Mr. Rolando Uyan (LGU –Surigao City) – Component City; Ms. Divina P. the program is worth commending,however their are pocket of resistance from unruly pedestrian who opted sabotage the ordinances, I seen it the last time when i rode an AC, I caught a student from FSUU, crossing the avenue, without using the pedistrian lane,knowing that the are is a discipline zone.:ohno::bash:

140 new Barangay Employment Service Offices established

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 29 (PIA) - After the successful institutionalization of 62 Barangay Employment Service Offices (BESOs) in Surigao del Norte, an additional 140 new BESOs have been established in the Province of Agusan del Norte and in the cities of Butuan and Cabadbaran.

In an orientation on the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Programs and Projects intended for the barangays held recently at Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort, this city, 140 Barangay Captains finally signed commitment with the DOLE to establish an employment office in their barangays.

DOLE Asst. Regional Director Teresita Bonghanoy who signed the commitment in behalf of Regional Director Ofelia Domingo expressed her gratefulness for the wilful decision of the barangay officials to fully support the programs of DOLE particularly employment facilitation and the community based employment program.

The barangay captains brought some of their officials to the orientation making the total number of participants to 173. These officials are from different barangays in Butuan City, Cabadbaran City and municipalities of the Province of Agusan del Norte.

The orientation was purposely conducted to inform the barangays on their important role in the implementation of employment facilitation and livelihood programs by creating a BESO in their own locality which ultimately will help address the unemployment problems.

Marcos M. Quico, Provincial PESO of Surigao del Sur was one of the resource speakers during the above mentioned orientation. He clearly discussed the PESO Act of 1999 and the Circular No. 94-69 by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) wherein all LGUs are mandated to establish operate and maintain Public Employment Service Office to ensure the prompt, timely and adequate delivery of employment facilitation services of the government to its constituents. Also part of his discussion was the livelihood program of DOLE that includes liquidation fund releases.

City Peace and Order Council intensifies existing laws in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 29 (PIA) -- Member-agencies from the government and private sectors convened recently for the regular City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) Meeting held at the City Mayor’s Conference Room 2, this city.
On behalf of City Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr, City Councilor Ryan Culima presided the meeting and accepted the accomplishments reports of the member-agencies which contributed to peace and order in the city.

PSupt Rolando P Cuya, Jr. of the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) bared that their office continues to intensify its campaign against illegal drugs, illegal possession of firearms, illegal logging, illegal gambling, and other campaign against crime.

Cuya also revealed that they have conducted the 10-kilometer Run, Tree Planting Activity, Coastal Clean-up in Brgy. Masao, and Medical and Dental Mission. It was also learned that the PNP’s ‘Discipline Zone’ will be fully implemented on September 1, 2011.

Also, Culima stressed that the city government with the PNP will be strictly implementing the said ‘Discipline Zone’ on Sept. 1 while violators of the existing local ordinances in the city will be issued the ‘No Tolerance Ticket’ for them to pay the corresponding penalties of the violation.

“The public should be vigilant and responsible because when they will be caught violating these city ordinances, he or she shall face the consequences, even if the violator is an official or a high-ranked personality,” Culima said.

Meanwhile, Agent Myrian Balbada of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Caraga bared that until now, Shabu is the main drug of choice by the users and Marijuana second.

Agent Balbada further said that from July 1-31, 2011, PDEA has conducted 12 operations and arrested 18 persons while from Aug. 1-25, they conducted 15 operations and arrested 33 persons.

“From January to July 2011, there were 139 total of Drug Cases filed in Court with 206 total of the accused persons,” cited Balbada.

The council will convene again next month to assess and evaluate the extent of implementation of the local ordinances by the authorities and the obedience of the general public. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)

PhilHealth-Caraga meets local tri-media in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 29 (PIA) -- The Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) Inc. headed by Regional Vice President Johnny Y. Sychua with other PhilHealth officials recently conducted a media briefing on PhilHealth, held recently at the PhilHealth-Caraga Regional Conference Room, this city.
Medical Specialist IV Dr. Grace S. Tanangkingsing of PhilHealth clarified that a patient does not need to be confined in a hospital for three (3) days for him/her to avail the healthcare services of PhilHealth. “Only with basic 24 hours admission, a patient can already avail the benefits,” said Tanangkingsing.

Responding to a question on whether there will be an increase in premium rate, Sychua said, “Increasing the premium rate is not bad especially (considering that) for 11 years, PhilHealth has not increased the premium rate…Probably, there will be an increase but I can not tell you when,” stressed Sychua.

Sychua also encouraged the general public to immediately report to their office if they encounter a doctor who will require them to be confined in the hospital for three days so they can avail the healthcare services of PhilHealth because it has no truth. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)

dili man cguro na i close ang terminal diha sa langihan.. gawin cguro na syang north bound (Gingoog-CdeO) area, and ang new terminal gawing south bound (Surigao-Tagum-Davao) area. para dili sad mag huot didto sa south area... diba gi mention man to ni Mayor nga ipadayon ang mga mega projects sa bxu pero ma minusan ang budget like that... :D

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 31 (PIA) -- The “Discipline Zone” in Brgy. Libertad implmented to decongest pedestrian and vehicular traffic along the portion of the National Highway has earned the nod of Agusan del Norte 1st District Congressman (Butuan City-Las Nieves) Jose “Joboy” Aquino II.

Congressman Aquino was the guest of honor and speaker during the mass oath-taking of Purok and other sectoral officials of the barangay last Friday evening, held at the Barangay covered court. It also marked the opening salvo of the week-long celebration of the “Araw Hong Libertad” which will culminate on Saturday (September 3).

“I salute the barangay officials led by Brgy. Captain Vincent Rizal C. Rosario, and my constituents here for leading the city barangays in the early implementation of the Discipline Zone,” he said. The lawmaker noticed the cleanliness, the orderliness and the decongestion of the pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the aforementioned portion of the national highway, reaching up to the foot of the Libertad Bridge, which also served as the barangay’s school and commercial belt.

He said that he used to attend the early mass at the Sto. Nino Shrine every Sunday when he is in Butuan, and he observed the recent changes, cleanliness and orderliness at the said area.The barangay version of the “Discipline Zone” was jointly conceived by the barangay council of Libertad and the Butuan Police Station 3, led by PSupt. Manuel Jimenez. The program sought to implement the barangay ordinances of anti-jay walking, anti-illegal vending, anti-littering and other ordinances and the strictly.

Its full implementation started last July after a massive information drive, a month ahead of the city’s larger and expanded version which will soon be fully implemented in September.

Brgy. Capt. Rosario said that the program was implemented in anticipation of volume of traffic in view of the coming investments soon to be set up near the area. The official mentioned the forthcoming operation of the 10-million PNP-DOH Hospital and the planned building of the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP) Branch there to mention some. :banana::banana::banana:

Aquino also said in his message that performing barangays such as Libertad will be on the top of his list in terms of giving out of projects to be funded by his priority development assistance fund (PDAF). He promised to complete the the barangay central elementary school covered court, the barangay’s health center and day care center.

He admonished the newly-sworn officers of the thirty-six puroks and other sectoral organizations to go beyond the realms of parties or politics. He mentioned that the recipients of his assistance out of his PDAF had crossed party lines.

He also thanked President Benigno S. Aquino III, and the speaker of the house of congress for he was not accordingly given a hard time with the release of his PDAF despite of him being in the opposite side of the political fence. (PIA-Caraga)
