VP Binay awards land
titles in Cagayan de
Oro, Butuan

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay awarded Transfer
Certificates of Title (TCTs) to 90 housing
beneficiaries from eight community associations
in the cities of Cagayan de Oro in Misamis Oriental
and Butuan in Agusan del Norte under the
Community Mortgage Program (CMP) of the
Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC).
He also led the distribution of TCTs to 11
beneficiaries of National Housing Authority (NHA)
projects and awarded titles to 11 borrowers who
have fully paid their accounts under the Unified
Home Lending Program of the National Home
Mortgage Finance Corp.
The Vice President also met with local officials to
discuss the government’s housing programs
during the opening of the 10th Pabahay Caravan
in Cagayan de Oro City.
“Being closer to the people, the LGUs should be at
the forefront in delivering housing services. It is
the role of HUDCC to enable them to provide
these services by orienting them on our housing
programs and granting financial support to
implement such projects in their areas,” he said.
The housing caravan was organized by the
Housing and Urban Development Coordinating
Council (HUDCC) to build a stronger partnership
with LGUs in addressing the country’s housing
gap.
Under Republic Act No. 7279 or the Urban
Development and Housing Act of 1992, LGUs are
mandated to deliver quality homes to their
constituents.
“By making the LGUs aware of our housing
programs and services, we will be able to
encourage them to work together with the
national government in accelerating shelter
production and enhancing the delivery of housing
services to the people,” Binay said.
The topics discussed include the role of LGUs in
housing and urban development as well as
specific housing programs for LGUs, including
Pag-IBIG Fund’s Group Housing Loan Program,
SHFC’s localized community mortgage program,
and NHA’s resettlement program.
The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board
(HLURB) also explained how comprehensive land
use planning can help LGUs ensure rational,
ecologically balanced and sustainable
development of resources and growth of human
settlements.
Prior to the housing event in Cagayan de Oro, the
Pabahay Caravan had been held in Cebu, Baguio
City, Tagaytay City, Davao, Pampanga,
Zamboanga, Tacloban, Laoag and Tuguegarao.

CHOWKING Butuan branch is company owned. It closed two months ago when their lease contract expired. They were supposed to transfer to a new location with their new building to be constructed beside Mang Inasal. Last we heard, hindi nagkasundo ang lot owner & Chowking, kaya ayun until this time we are clueless as to when they're coming back :ohno:

Ang maong lugar maga-gahin og luna sa mga kaigsoonan aron idisplay o ihilira ang mga baligya, mga livelihood products sa ALS sa mga kabarangayan nga maoy naghatag og panginabuhian sa katawhan.

CSU bags 5th Place in GE Licensure Exam 2011
Engr. Hospicio Pep Caluya Ebarle Jr. of the Caraga State University (CSU) ranked 5th place in the recently conducted Geodetic Engineer Licensure Examination. Engr. Ebarle Jr. scored 85.40% in the licensure exam.

Four (4) more CSU graduates also passed the licensure examination. They are:
- Engr. Ma. Teresita Duero Guma
- Engr. April Vi Lafuente Nahial
- Engr. Flordiluna Bitancor Mantilla
- Engr. Junrey Duman-ag Paronda

CSU's performance in the latest licensure examination was highly impressive, with an overall passing percentage of 71.43% against the national passing percentage of 34.38%. The examination was given by the Board of Geodetic Engineering of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) last September 6 and 7, 2011 in Manila City. A total of 381 took the GE licensure examination but only 181 were sucessful.

BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 28 (PIA) – Bayan Telecommunications Inc. (Bayan) is taking its marketing caravan program to Northern Mindanao to explore new opportunities for growth as well as strengthening its market leadership postion in the region, to help hasten the economic development of the region.

Chief Operating Officer Rafael T. Aguado arrived in Caraga Region for the company’s marketing caravan dubbed “Bida ka sa Bayan.” Activities during the caravan include a motorcade around the city, a customer fun fair promo and recognition program, a sales team and employee awards night, as well as a courtesy visit to local city officials and LGU partners, among other activities.

Bayan for Mindanao’s development

The Northern Mindanao is an important market for Bayan where it currently holds the leadership position in the landline service. The company is eyeing to expand in the area of digital subscriber line (DSL) and data services for both residential and business customers.

The caravan program also includes site inspection for potential expansion and exploration of new market opportunities in the areas of Cagayan de Oro, Gingoog City, and nearby areas.

The National Economic and Development Authority’s (NEDA) in its Mindanao Strategic Development Framework 2010-2020 (MSDF) identified the need to expand telecommunications facilities in Mindanao.

NEDA said that the telecommunication infrastructure highway will have to be strengthened by improving the regulatory framework toward promoting efficiency and leveling the playing field to ensure fair competition in the delivery of telecommunications services in Mindanao.

According to the MSDF report, LGUs would have to be oriented on reforms to streamline procedures and incentives. LGUs can offer incentives, enter into joint venture agreements and/or undertake public-private partnerships that will be mutually beneficial for the public and private sectors.

Bayan-Butuan partnership

Bayan established its operations in Mindandao in 1986 after it bought the franchise from Butuan Telephone Co. to operate telecommunications services to Butuan City residents and in the nearby areas.

To date, Bayan operates in the North Mindanao area serving the following locations: Butuan City; the municipalities of Nasipit, Buenavista, Carmen, Remedios T. Romualdez, Magallanes, and the city of Cabadbaran in Agusan del Norte province; the city of Bayugan and the municipalities of San Francisco and Prosperidad in Agusan del Sur province; and the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Ozamis, Pagadian as well as the province of Bukidnon.

Mr. Aguado said Bayan believes in the economic potential of the region, and expressed his commitment to fully support the city governmetn’s vision to accelerate the progress and development of Butuan through the various initiatives that the company and the city have partnered to work on.

“In his very recent Report to the City, Mayor Jun Amante has announced that the city government of Butuan, together with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Butuan City Chamber of Commerce, will be working together to attract more investors by promoting investment packages in the Regional Center in Tiniwisan for more revenue and more economic activity for Butuanons,” Aguado said.

In support of this, he said Bayan has invested close to a million pesos worth of cabling infrastructure capacity expansion to service the Butuan City Regional Center in order to help the city attract investors and locators to the facility.

“This is our way of supporting the city’s plan of establishing the facility to become a call center/IT hub in Caraga and help in the jobs generation program of the city government,” said Aguado. :banana:

Moreover, Bayan has also provided the Butuan city government with an entrance cable facility worth of 50 lines to exclusively provide the telecommunications service needs of the people working in the city hall.

Camp Rafael C Rodriguez, Libertad, Butuan City…….The president of Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc (PSMBFI) and the Regional Director of Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) initiated the Ground Breaking Ceremony of Regional Training Center this morning September 21, 2011 inside Camp Rafael C. Rodriguez, Libertad, Butuan City. Police Chief Supt REYNALDO S RAFAL, CEO VI, Ph.D, PRO 13 Regional Director is thankful to the Staff of PSMBFI headed by its president, Police Director VICTOR B BOCO JR and all who helped for making the project turn into reality. The building will be used for training activities and would also served as a transient quarters for PNP personnel from far flung areas who will visit Regional Headquarters.

PSMBFI president Police Director VICTOR B BOCO JR on the other hand said, that PSMBFI is a partner of the PNP in providing more benefits for the welfare of its personnel. Prior to the Ground Breaking Ceremony, PSMBFI has approved to construct eight (8) two storey buildings in various PNP Regional Offices in the amount of Php 10,395,000.00 per unit earlier this year and PRO 13 is one of their beneficiaries. The building shows a manifestation that the company will last forever.

Before the Ground Breaking Ceremony was held, PSMBFI president was accorded with the Arrival Honor. Afterwhich, the signing of Memorandum of Agreement of the Regional Training Center was conducted between PRO 13 Regional Director and the PSMBFI president and witnessed by PRO 13 Deputy Regional Director for Operation Police Senior Supt ALEXANDER C IGNACIO, PRO 13 Regional Chief of the Directorial Staff Police Senior Supt DAVID Y OMBAO and other PNP personnel in the Regional Headquarters.

Prior to the Ground Breaking Ceremony, PSMBFI has approved to construct eight (8) two storey buildings in various PNP Regional Offices in the amount of Php 10,395,000.00 per unit earlier this year and PRO 13 is one of their beneficiaries. 22nd Nat'l Stat month celebration set in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 29 (PIA) –- The Regional Office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Caraga will be spearheading the 22nd National Statistics Month on October 2011.

National Economic and Development Authority Caraga Regional Director and Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) Chairperson Carmencita Cochingco said the theme for this year’s celebration is “Quality Social Protection Statistics for Focused Targeting: Improving Outcomes, Changing Lives.”

The activity will kick-off with a Mass on October 5, 2011, 6:15a.m. at Saint Joseph Cathedral here. A motorcade will then follow and all government agencies and local government units in the region will be hanging their streamers in their respective vehicles as support to the celebration.

Also, in the afternoon of the same date, the RSCC will be holding the 5thCaraga Inter-Agency/Local Government Unit (LGU) quiz bowl. The Caraga quiz bowl is a battle among the regional line agencies and the 10 LGUs of the region.

According to Cochingco, the quiz bowl will challenge each participating offices/LGUs’ knowledge of the region’s general statistics and economic data.

Said Quizbowl is to be held at the Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort here while government agencies are encouraged to send two representatives to participate in the battle of the brains' competition. (PIA-Caraga)

Moral recovery

BUTUAN CITY, (PIA) – The 13th National Moral Recovery Program (MRP) Congress is set on November 9-11 at the Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center. As per Civil Service Commission (CSC) Announcement No. 26, series 2011, all heads of constitutional bodies, departments, bureaus, and agencies of the national government, Local Government Units (LGUs), Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) with original charters, and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) are directed attend and take part in the event.

In a written statement, MROFI Chairman Job Sar Diasanta said that agency’s representatives, including all Moral Recovery Officers, Moral/Spiritual/Values Advocates/Promoters/Human Resource Development Officers are also enjoined to participate in the said seminar. A registration fee of R3,500 will be charged each participant to cover food expenses, hotel accommodation, kit/handout materials, a tour of Butuan City, honorarium of resource persons, supplies/materials/transportation of the secretariat.

Unfortunately the Brgy Captain & kagawads & even the Secretary were not around at that time, only the Clerk (can you believe that? :bash:)

Nahibaw-an nalang nila later that the group proceeded to Libertad Brgy.Hall instead.

Because of this incident, Brgy.Bayahihan went to (EMB) Environmental Management Bureau, a Branch of DENR in Ambago yesterday to clarify the jurisdiction of the proposed ROBINSONS PLACE location. The correct address should be Brgy.Bayanihan not Libertad (kung si regj pasultihon, "merisi" kung ba't absent ang mga officials ng Brgy.Bayahihan that time :bash: :lol:).

As I am writing this,Brgy.Bayahihan is conducting a meeting this morning regarding this matter.

I have here a copy of " A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT BUREAU (EMB) TO CORRECT THE NAME OF THE LOCATION UPON WHICH THE PROPOSED ROBINSONS PLACE WILL BE CONSTRUCTED FROM BRGY.LIBERTAD TO BRGY.BAYANIHAN."

My source told me (an official of our Brgy.) once i approve na sa EMB (Environmental Management Bureau) hapit na na mag start, basi mag tambak na sila. He also confirmed our first info that RLC property is 14 hectares, although he said iya pa gyud daw i-verify & will try to secure evidence on this info, basi daw naay copy ang Brgy iyang ukayon :lol: hehehe. He further said that the whole 14 hectares is for the Mall, Hotel & Housing ^^

I've watched them once ok sad baya ilang performance but daghan kaayo mga nice ug talent sa pgt pero kanang sayaw murag talagsa ra jud mo boom basta ang klaban is singing. Hope nga mak sulod sila sa final. Pero kung ako ang judge duha duha ko nila hehehe pati gani si marcelito kung ako ga judge ato, dili xa kadaug hehehe makita baya nga ma flat iyang tingog nadal ra to sa tigaw ni kris nga numero unong OA hahaha

Peru diba, dapat mag kuha silag clearance sa isa ka barangay kung asa nabelong ang ilang property? so if ang ilang property is naa sa tunga sa duha ka mga barangay, then mag kuha dapat ang RLC og clearance from both barangays para sa part sa ilang property nga nabelong adto nga barangay...

Butuan dad convenes partner agencies, stakeholders to discuss dev’t plans for IPs

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 2 (PIA) -– Convergence partners from the government and private stakeholders convened Friday, Sept. 30 for the one-day initial workshop for the “Formulation of a Master Plan for the Eco-Cultural Development of Barangays Anticala and Pianing" of this city under Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT 135).

In a written statement, Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr said the formulation of a master plan for the Eco-Cultural Development of said barangays is part of the APTO’s Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP).

The meeting/workshop was aimed primarily at: a) Revisiting the Convergence Cluster Plans; b) Identifying significant priorities to form part of a Master plan for the Eco-Cultural Development of the area; and c) Making practical arrangements for the implementation of the plan.

Meanwhile, the convergence partners will be focusing on the high impact projects/strategies for the IPs with the following: a) Cultural Development; b) Socio-Economic Development; and c) Environmental development.

During the meeting, the convergence partners expressed their commitment to support the IPs through their respective programs and services.

Also, leaders of the Manobo tribe present during the meeting ensured the convergence partners of their active participation and cooperation to the programs and services being offered to them by the government and partner stakeholders.

The activity was facilitated by a team including the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the city government, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), the Sibog Katawhan Alang sa Paglambo (SIKAP, Inc.) and the Anticala-Pianing Tibal Organization (APTO) with support from the Indigenous Peoples Development Program (IPDP), a technical cooperation initiative of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Spanish International Development Agency (AECID). DSWD Caraga conducts the 1st Convergence Caravan

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 2 (PIA) -– The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga conducted recently the 1st Convergence Caravan for the 1st District of Agusan del Norte, with the theme “Kaya ng Pinoy Tumawid sa Kahirapan”, at Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort.

DSWD Caraga gathered 150 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries from Butuan City and 100 from the municipality of Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte, partner agencies and the media to witness the caravan and to gain support for the budget of the Philippine conditional cash transfer (CCT).

In the said caravan, DSWD Caraga Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat briefed the public about Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Jabagat also reported the DSWD’s performance status of compliance from May to June. “There are already 7,957 registered Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries in Butuan and 2221 in Las Nieves. About 41 million worth of cash grants was disbursed to Butuan City beneficiaries and 29 million pesos to Las Nieves beneficiaries,” said Jabagat.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries testified on how the 4Ps have helped their lives. Hera Beloria, a twelve year-old girl, and an honor student from Las Nieves said that the program was of great help for her family especially in her studies. “Because of the program, I can now buy the school supplies that I need ug makabayad nako sa akong mga bayronon sa eskwelahan (and I can now pay my school fees)," said Beloria.

Also, the beneficiaries were given the opportunity to consult and inquire concerning livelihood and employment issues. The partner agencies of DSWD such as Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Department of Labor-Public Employment Service Offices (DOLE-PESO) stationed their desks for the said purpose.

The Convergence Caravan is actually the three core programs of DSWD: the 4Ps, Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) and Self- Employment Assistance Kaunlaran (SEA-K). (MRA/PIA-Caraga)

speaking of mega shell stations, i've seen those when you're going to north luzon (batangas) too. it's not a mega fuel stations only but they have also a huge arcade which naa didto nag occupy ang food chains like BK, chowking, jabee, mcdo etc... wow... sooner or later one of this food chains mag occupy anang proposed mega shell station. They have also huge 24 convenience store with food court.... hmmm kung mag materialize ni, i think only in mindanao pa ni sya.. unless kung naa na sa ubang part sa mindanao ning mega stations... i dont see any sa pag travel nako around mindanao except zambo area... :D

guys, regarding the corner property beside mang inasal, they have a new fence made of galvanized iron. sinaw pa kaayo unya ang mcdo nga streamer nakabutang gihapon sa fence. maayo gyud kaayo nga pagka plastar. center of attraction kumbaga, hehehe.

No. All Robinsons malls are named Robinsons Place [insert name]. So, the mall here in Butuan would definitely be Robinsons Place BUTUAN. For me, naming the Robinsons Balangay or Robinsons Golden Tara would be ugly since it breaks the naming tradition.

I think its much better to use these names on mall concourses or entrances or exits. For example, Masawa Concourse, Tara Concourse, Balangay Concourse, etc. like in Robinsons Place Manila, the mall has Padre Faura exit, etc.

No. All Robinsons malls are named Robinsons Place [insert name]. So, the mall here in Butuan would definitely be Robinsons Place BUTUAN. For me, naming the Robinsons Balangay or Robinsons Golden Tara would be ugly since it breaks the naming tradition.

Buses will have to use na daw the Bypass road na ana nga time instead of passing the main highway going in & out of the City.

Oist BOB, please paki check daw this info I got.....ang SM Mall will be located man daw in South Montilla & NOT in Baan?. Wla ba kay napansin sa inyong neighborhood? my source told me there's a big property daw near Rosewoods that's about 40 hectares? ang uban lots daw nga naay pay mga balay is still being negotiated. Very nice location lagi kuno since the area is already elevated, gamay nalang ang need itambak sa SM. I hope this is true.

Remember when @angel-bxu mentioned there's a "karatola" placed sa property across the semenary in Baan? ang nakabutang kay "for Sale" man diay, so definitely that's not SM's property.

Yes, ang Ayala nuon, lahi lahi ug pangalan. Sa Cebu, Ayala Center, sa QC Trinoma, sa Davao Abreeza, sa Makati Greenbelt, sa CDO Centrio

Haha, much better ang Robinsons Place Butuan. It makes the place more recognizable. Siguro pag naay Ayala ang pangalan siguro sa ilang mall is Timberium or Timberia or Timberio or Timberiaza haha

QUESTION: Are we really sure this is the exact site of Mega Shell Station? Di kaya ang pasabot ni @kadayao ay ang Bachelor Garage property? Mo transfer naman ang Bachelor, so it's very possible right?

I think I have already mentioned in the previous Threads that the owner of this lot that is conducting a soil testing right now is MICHAEL CAGALINGAN di ba? (son of the owner of Emerald Villa hotel).......so maybe, maybe, just maybe....a highrise Emerald villa Hotel will rise here? hehehe....

a soil test is necessary in order to protect their investment because they will be staying there for 15 years... their engineers don't want to take short cuts -- "K"

Peace underlies development, says Butuan mayor

BUTUAN CITY, October 3 (PIA) **-- Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. told a youth audience that attainment of peace in the community is needed for progress to be realized.

During the closing ceremonies of the Peace Month, Amante told members of the National Youth Commission that “development can not be attained without peace.”

To formally close the celebration, the NYC and the local government of Butuan spearheaded a Peace Parade. Highlighting the program was the unveiling of and signing by participants of the Manifesto of Peace written on a Freedom Wall.

According to NYC Assistant Secretary Earl Saavedra, the aim of the program was to unite the efforts of peace stakeholders in Mindanao such as government agencies, LGUs, and NGOs including youth organizations in Butuan City.

During the opening program of the said activity, Atty. Faisal Mamintal, Legal Officer of the NCMF said that the youth must take part in bringing peace in Mindanao.

The activity was attended by NYC's inter-agency Regional Advisory Council (RAC) members, Butuan City Police, students from Agusan National High School, Butuan City Special Education Center and Butuan City School of Arts and Trades; Caraga Muslim Youth Federation, Local Youth Development Council, National Commission on Muslim Filipino (NCMF) Caraga, Ong Yiu Muslim Youth Group and other government agencies.

Aside from promoting peace, the Mindanao-wide celebration of Peace Month aimed to bridge the gap between Muslim Filipino and non-Muslim Filipino youth. (MRA/PIA-Caraga)

basig na mixed up lang sya... actually mercury was interested in that vicinity before... the jollibee site was originally offered to them but mercury backed out after robinson's finalized their intent to build a mall... malapit kasi masyado if they have one in BDH and one in Robinson's.... seems they are replicating their set-up in Tacloban where they have a branch inside Rob-Tacloban -- "K"

Elderly Filipino Week celebration kicks-off in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 4 (PIA) – The Elderly Filipino Week celebration with this year’s theme: “Nakakatanda: Gabay, Tulay, Kaagapay, at Bantay Tungo sa Kaunlaran” kicked off Monday (Oct. 3) with a short program and press conference held at the city hall lobby here.

According to Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) Head Ms. Imelda Nonan, the city government led by Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. together with OSCA and other concerned agencies have lined up activities for this weeklong celebration.

“Activities like ‘Hataw’ exercise, Fun Walk, Medical and Dental Check-up, Cultural Contest, Search for King Lolo and Queen Lola 2011, Food presentation and Table Setting Competition, and entertainment dubbed as “Pabibo” are all set for the senior citizens week,” Nonan said.

Mr. Ramon Carlota, President of the Regional Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (RESCAP) said that senior citizens should really be informed of their rights and privileges/benefits so they continue to enjoy the life they have.

“From the 18,000 senior citizens members here, 12,000 are the only active members. That is why I personally would like to appeal to other senior citizens to take part and become active members by participating in its activities and availing all the benefits that the government has provided,” Carlota added.

Meanwhile, Focal Person for Elderly Sector Ms. Wilma Geralla of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) highlighted the efforts of the senior citizens in nation-building.

Geralla also recalled that the "Expanded Senior Citizen’s Act of 2010," signed into law by former President Gloria M. Arroyo grants senior citizens the exemption from payment of VAT (input VAT) on their purchases of qualified goods and services, thus, enabling them to enjoy fully the 20% discount on their purchases. This means that sale of qualified goods and services to senior citizens shall be considered VAT-exempt since no VAT can be passed on or shifted to senior citizens.

In addition, RA 9994 also expanded the coverage of the list of purchases of goods and services which are entitled to the 20% senior citizens discount and VAT exemption, to include the following: Purchase of medicines, including influenza and pneumococcal vaccines and other essential medical supplies, accessories and equipment; and Actual fare for land travel in public utility jeepneys, taxis, Asian utility vehicles and shuttle services.

Consumer Welfare Division Chief Ms. Billy General of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) informed that senior citizens who are refused by any establishment to be given 20% discount for their purchases can file their complaints to their office and for the medicine-related complaints at the Department of Health (DOH) for appropriate action.
