I hope the planned relocation of the Central Police Office will really push through as planned.....part of the plans was to establish a commercial promenade at the former BCPO site and conversion of the surroundings as an extension of Rizal Park.....it will have rentable spaces for shops.....souvenits....restos and perhaps house an exhibit area / museum:)

BUTUAN CITY, Agusan del Norte, Jan. 29 (PIA) – Philippine National Police (PNP) in Caraga Region is once again conducting the “Takbong Maharlika, Tungo sa Pagkakaisa” on Monday, Jan. 30, Police Superintendent Martin Gamba, PNP Regional Public Information Officer said.

According to Gamba, the fun run will start at 2 p.m., with a short program at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Capitol Covered Court wherein local officials of this city and the province of Agusan del Norte will grace the activity.

Gamba also said PNP personnel from Police Regional Office-13 and representatives from PNP National Headquarters are also set to participate.

Among those who were invited to grace the opening program include Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Agusan del Norte Governor Erlpe John Amante, Agusan del Norte 1st District Representative Jose S. Aquino II, and Butuan Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos.

Ngano naa pa man dispute ang government and the Sanchez family? The government naman has the power of eminent domain (part of the three inherent powers of government: eminent domain, police power and taxation power). They can take away the property of the Sanchez family for public use (e.g. Rotunda, Friendship Gate, etc) for as long as there is just compensation (Article 3 Bill of Rights Section 8). ^^ Siguro wa ganahi ang Sanchez sa gi-compensate sa gobyerno hehe

They were the ones who put up that "Private Property" sign in one of the areas of the Rotunda site (I think you saw it too). The last time I had a chat with one of the sons was last December. He told me the Mayor had arranged a schedule for a meeting with them first week of January (this year). The problem lies in the amount offered by the goverment which is only 800.00'sq.meter. The sanchez family demanded a 1,200.00/sq.meter for their what I know about 9 hectare lot.

My brother- in-law mentioned to me last monday the arrival of 5 new Ambulance for CGHMC. Good thing I've spotted it at the city hall this morning.
The Mayor really cares for CGHMC. The Mayor also mentioned in an interview with ABS Caraga the planned concreting & landscaping of the hospital's grounds as part of the PPP with Japan.

not only fun run regs....our city also enjoys same social/urban activities (bars, concerts,night cafes,restos, extreme sports/adventure, interest on cultural activities-museums, art exhibits, etc) that are experience by other major/HUC.....it shows/tells how cosmopolitan our city is and Butuan's lifestyle and urbanity are at par with these metro cities

The Education Commitee of Butuan Global Forum, Inc. will soon announce the rules and procedures in joining the photo essay contest on the subject "Ngansi mabaya ako mohuwa^ ngani Butuan" ("Why I like to live here in Butuan"). To allow the participation of most Butuanon youth (and senior citizens as well), only pictures taken by cell phones will be accepted.

The contest entries will have to be posted in Butuan Global Forum, Inc. Group Page. There should at least be 7 photos with captions in Butuanon words that individually tell a story and collectively carry thematic unity in presenting the concept of "Why I like to live in Butuan".

hey everyone, I passed by Ochoa Avenue and I saw the famous Balamban liempo of Cebu. It's near the corner of Pili Drive. I was not able to take up pics. I also noticed, Rudy Tiu V is along Ochoa Ave pud diay. Parang na recall man gud nako from previous threads naa ang ask ngano nag skip ang number sa building ni Rudy Tiu. Wala lang jud diay ta naka notice sa bldg V kay dili man pud siya ana ka noticeable. :-) its across that shell gasoline station. And there is an undergoing construction inside that building where Mercury Drug Montilla is located. I'm not familiar with the name of the building but I passed by just this afternoon. And guys, pwed makisuyo basi naa mo nahibaw.an opening for CPAs here in Butuan. pa pm me naman pls. I have resigned from my work in Cebu just recently..

we went to delta park last weekend, the experience was really great kaya lang it needs promotion especially in the brochure of the city tourism office to attract more visitors, parang its not included :nuts::nuts::nuts::nuts:

Feature: 4 Cabinet members turnover 6,000 armchairs

Some cabinet secretaries will converge on the morning of February 3, 2012 at the Butuan Central Elementary School (BCES) for a short program.

They will lock arms to purposely do a ceremonial turnover ceremony for an initial batch of 6,000 armchairs at the adjacent Agusan National High School (ANHS), both of which are located in this city.

Secretaries Armin A. Luistro, Ramon J. Paje, and Emmanuel Joel J. Villanueva of the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) respectively and Chairman Cristino L. Naguiat, Jr. of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) gave assurance to grace the said occasion if only to ceremonially endow new armchairs for the pupils and students of the following schools here: ANHS; BCES; Butuan City School of Arts and Trade (BCSAT); Gabriel Elementary School; J. T. Domingo Central Elementary School; Libertad Central Elementary School (LCES); San Vicente Elementary School; and Villa Kananga Elementary School.

Peter G. Esterioso, Principal IV of ANHS, was thankful with this upcoming turn of events because “this will be our first time to receive such volume of armchairs produced through the P-Noy Bayanihan Project.”

DENR 13 to produce 1.4M fruit tree seedlings for NGP this year

BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Caraga Region is set to produce 1.4 million pieces of seedlings of fruit trees and indigenous and premium species for its reforestation activities under the National Greening Program (NGP) this year.

DENR Regional Executive Director Leonardo Sibbaluca said senior forest officials of the PENRO and CENR offices in the five provinces of Caraga region have made the commitment of this large seedling production during a meeting presided over by the Regional Technical Director of the Ecosystem Research and Development (ERDS) Virgilio dela Cruz on Friday at the DENR Training Center in Butuan City.

Sibbaluca said there are about 13,290 hectares of denuded forest lands and tree parks that were identified and prepared as potential sites for tree planting activities in the different areas this year.

PNP-Caraga to hold “Takbong Maharlika” on Monday

BUTUAN CITY, Agusan del Norte, Jan. 29 (PIA) – Philippine National Police (PNP) in Caraga Region is once again conducting the “Takbong Maharlika, Tungo sa Pagkakaisa” on Monday, Jan. 30, Police Superintendent Martin Gamba, PNP Regional Public Information Officer said.

According to Gamba, the fun run will start at 2 p.m., with a short program at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Capitol Covered Court wherein local officials of this city and the province of Agusan del Norte will grace the activity.

Gamba also said PNP personnel from Police Regional Office-13 and representatives from PNP National Headquarters are also set to participate.

Among those who were invited to grace the opening program include Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Agusan del Norte Governor Erlpe John Amante, Agusan del Norte 1st District Representative Jose S. Aquino II, and Butuan Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos.

Butuan’s streamlined BPLS showcased in nat'l forum

BUTUAN CITY, Feb. 2 PIA) -- City Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr. recently presented the city’s streamlined Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS) to more than 500 city and municipal mayors from all over the country during the Forum on Building Sustainable Competitive Local Governments.

The gathering of local chief executives was held last Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. DILG Sec. Jesse M. Robredo was the guest of honor during the said activity which was also attended by foreign guests from USA, India and Indonesia. Representatives from foreign organizations such as World Bank, USAID, AECID, and GIZ also participated in the forum.

The national forum was held to showcase the best practices from different LGUs which aid in building sustainable and competitive local governments. It was jointly sponsored by DILG and the Local Government Academy (LGA).

Other LGUs which were invited to present during the said forum include Mandaluyong, Valenzuela, Mandaue, and the Island Garden City of Samal.

Butuan City’s streamlined BPLS was launched on October 20, 2010. The improved system significantly shortened the business registration processing time from 10 days to 30 minutes. The faster processing time encouraged more business owners to register their businesses and translated to an increase in new business registrants from 1,064 in 2010 to 2,386 in 2011, or an increase of 124 percent. Business tax collection rose from P94.36 million in 2010 to P115.42 million in 2011.

Just recently, the city government already collected P60 million for the Business Fastlane registration period from January 2-20, 2012. (LGU-Butuan/PIA-Caraga)

Butuan’s streamlined BPLS showcased in nat'l forum

BUTUAN CITY, Feb. 2 PIA) -- City Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr. recently presented the city’s streamlined Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS) to more than 500 city and municipal mayors from all over the country during the Forum on Building Sustainable Competitive Local Governments.

The gathering of local chief executives was held last Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. DILG Sec. Jesse M. Robredo was the guest of honor during the said activity which was also attended by foreign guests from USA, India and Indonesia. Representatives from foreign organizations such as World Bank, USAID, AECID, and GIZ also participated in the forum.

The national forum was held to showcase the best practices from different LGUs which aid in building sustainable and competitive local governments. It was jointly sponsored by DILG and the Local Government Academy (LGA).

Other LGUs which were invited to present during the said forum include Mandaluyong, Valenzuela, Mandaue, and the Island Garden City of Samal.

Butuan City’s streamlined BPLS was launched on October 20, 2010. The improved system significantly shortened the business registration processing time from 10 days to 30 minutes. The faster processing time encouraged more business owners to register their businesses and translated to an increase in new business registrants from 1,064 in 2010 to 2,386 in 2011, or an increase of 124 percent. Business tax collection rose from P94.36 million in 2010 to P115.42 million in 2011.

Just recently, the city government already collected P60 million for the Business Fastlane registration period from January 2-20, 2012. (LGU-Butuan/PIA-Caraga)

SSS-Butuan to implement another loan condonation program to members

BUTUAN CITY, Feb. 3 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) here is set to implement another loan condonation program to all its members who have current loans and yet, were not able to pay their obligations.

In an interview with SSS-Butuan Assistant Manager Ricky Habal, the program is intended for members who have delinquent payments of their loans.
The official added the program allows members to pay their obligations for the period of six months, to start on Apr. 2 until Sept. 2012.

According to Habal, the program is offered to give chance to SSS members who have delinquent short-term member loans. These may be either the salary, calamity, emergency, educational, study-now-pay-later plan, vocational and technical student, Y2K, stock investment and privatization fund (SI/PF) or the Members’ Assistance for the Development of Entrepreneurship (MADE).

A 100 percent of penalty condoned will be granted to members whose employers deducted loan amortizations but did not remit to SSS. This is also open to beneficiaries of deceased member-borrowers with unpaid loans who will file for death claim within the availment period. However, said members must have paid at least three monthly contributions within six months prior to the month of filing the application. This can be availed from Apr. 2, 2012 to March 31, 2013.

Meanwhile, a 90 percent of penalty condoned will be granted to members who have paid at least three monthly loan amortizations, provided, if members will give full payment and 80 percent for those who will only pay installment, and is open from Apr. 2, to Sept. 30, 2012.

Further, members who will file for retirement or total disability claim within the availment period shall be granted 50 percent of penalty condoned, and availment period is also from Apr. 2 to Sept. 30, 2012.

To avail of the program, SSS said the borrower shall accomplish and submit the application form to the nearest SSS Branch.

Upon approval of the application, the borrower shall pay either to SSS Branch with Tellering facilities or SSS accredited bank and submit proof/s of payment SSS Form ML-1 or SS Form ML-1 with Special Bank Receipt (SBR), together with the application to the nearest SSS Branch.

With these developments, the SSS official urged SSS members to avail of the condonation program so that other members can also use the money when they will apply for any loans. He added that with such availment, loan records of the member-borrowers will be updated.
