BOB-bXu November 3rd, 2008, 05:07 AM Caraga Artists Launch Environment Awareness Program Using Music, Arts
November 2, 2008
BUTUAN CITY - A network of local artists, poets, writers, cultural dancers, painters, native weavers, carvers and others who formed a group called Caraga Artists’ Network based here in Caraga Region has recently launched “Lunhaw”, a multi-media music, dance and art concert tackling environmental awareness, issues and concerns to be presented in different private and public schools in the region.
“Lunhaw” is a Visayan term which means “Green”.
Leah Medado, a U.P mass com graduate and now a professor of a local university here who is one of the founding member of the Caraga Artists’ Network or CAN told this writer that “Project Lunhaw” is the local artists’ response for a badly needed public awareness campaign on environmental issues and concern that is now a major problem hounding Caraga Region’s once green forest and its environs.
“It is also our reply to a global-scale challenge for all citizens in the world to be aware and hoping to act immediately on serious issues and concerns about Global warming”, Medado said.
With the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA), CAN’s first sponsored concert will be held at the Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science & Technology (NORMISIST) Sanchez Gymnasium on November 13, 2008.
The music, arts and dance concert which will be attended by public and private elementary and high school students from all over Butuan City will feature known artists for their environmental concerns using their crafts such as ASIN, Joey Ayala, Noel Cabangon and probably Nonong Pedero and Bayang Barrios.
According to the CAN’s press statement signed by Norman Peguero, the concert presentation is a mix of originally composed songs by Caraga-based musical artists/composers and of randomly selected popular pieces that generally speak of environmental themes of nationally popular musicians-composers and recording artists
After “LUNHAW’s” first concert for environment, campus tours in different schools in Butuan City and concert tour performances in different target localities within Caraga Region shall simultaneously be conducted, the statement further added.
“After NORMSIST campus stint, the concert will be followed by two other launching performances in different venues, negotiations of which are underway and final schedules will just be announced shortly”, Medado added.
Caraga Artists Network’s Project Lunhaw mission and vision statement reads; One, to heighten environmental awareness in Caraga Communities, two, Stimulate, and strengthen advocacy for ecological rehabilitation and re-development; and, lastly, Stimulate and encourage community action through the challenges brought about by the songs on particular community concerns and as initiated and portrayed through the community participation shown in a specific part of the concert by the local artists workshop participants.
regjeex November 3rd, 2008, 06:30 AM A lot of young talented / potential singers, artists etc in Butuan. This is an opportunity to show their talents.

BOB-bXu November 4th, 2008, 03:39 PM PALs answer to Cebu Pacific's GO Lite fares^^
PAL launches 'EconoLight' class
Philippine Airlines (PAL) started Tuesday its sale of low-priced seats on all domestic jet routes and selected short-range Asian destinations, aimed at the budget segment of the market.
Called the Econolight class, PAL has allocated seats which are priced up to 93 percent lower than their regular Fiesta (economy) class fares, but with less passenger amenities.
In spite of this, however, PAL guarantees that Econolight class offers more than what competing budget carriers provide.
PAL said that passengers will continue to enjoy their aircraft cabin with generous legroom, convenient schedules and seamless connections at the Centennial Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), boasting of an on-time departure average rate of 91.3 percent. They will also receive a free baggage allowance of 15 kilograms each.
While snacks are not served, water is available upon request on domestic flights. For international destinations, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages are to be served with peanuts.
The EconoLight Class is currently offered on PAL flights between Manila and Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Cotabato, Davao, Dipolog, Dumaguete, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Laoag, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, Tacloban, Tagbilaran and Zamboanga. One-way fares can be purchased for as low as P488, including all fees and surcharges.
Asian routes cover flights between Manila and Bangkok, Beijing, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Macau, Shanghai, Singapore and Taipei. Round-trip fares start at $48 excluding surcharges.
PAL Express flight routes, however, are not included in the Econolight class.
Travel period starts on Monday, November 10. Tickets are available for purchase only through PAL's website

rally November 5th, 2008, 08:04 AM I was at BXU yesterday accompanying the wifey apply for a passport at the DFA. I noticed that the riverbanks which were impressively cleaned of informal squatters has remained undeveloped. Already cogon grass is filling up the area. Then on the other side there seems to be structures erected probably for gardening. Ang ako basig mamalik or there will be new inforaml occupants na sad. Kasayang sa lugar diha ba.
regjeex November 5th, 2008, 08:18 AM @Rally, Electronic passport ba imong gikuha? Unya pila ang bayad? pila ka adlaw ang processing? kay diha nalang ko mo kuha when i get home.
With regards to river bank yeah i noticed also that filled with grasses og dili naman pede maka puyo ang mga tao diha kay naa man na ordinance na to convert into broadwalk. Tas daku kaayo ang area for the relocation kadtong mga namuyo dira sa una. Hope na masugdan na nila on or before 2009.

rally November 5th, 2008, 08:45 AM I remember there used to be a small japanese fastfood near Gaisano whihc evetually shut down. I ate there at every opportunity i was in Bxu. Naa pa bay resto nag serve ug japanese dishes in Butuan? Also had another favorite eating place, chinese this time, kalimot ko sa ngalan but it was near PCSO i think. pero close na sad. they served the best pansit ive ever eaten and recommended the place to all my friends. Sayang tong 2 ka place ba. So wheres the best chinese resto now?

Not sure if E-passport na ba but definitely dili na atong karaan green passport. Dali ra kaayo an processing if papers are complete. The fee is dependnent on the number of days you will choose for the release of the passport : P750 for 15 days; P500 for 23 days. Murag electronic na siguro thats why the longer period of release. Centralized na sad, processing in BXU but the passports are done in Manila. For out of town applicants, you canpay additional P100 so your passposrt upon release can be delivered to you via LBC nationwide, no need to come back to claim it.
he he he kanang mga informal settlers dili managad kung bawal ba o dili. Hopefully, dili sya ma okupar ug usab. pangit kaayo mi ug experience dire sa surigao, despite the relocation and assistance, naa jud mga gahi nga ulo.
Mao man jud to naka daot sa view sa Butuan. Dako og accomplishment ang LGU na napabalhin ang mga tao dira na lugar.

the area is declared not fit for habitation under the city's land use plan....all settlers along the citys waterways, drainage systems, esteros, lagoons are now free from informal settlers...one of the good example is that lagoon in Langihan near Taboan bus terminal...the lagoon has a perimeter steel fence and a concrete pedestrian sidewalk...the place looks refresfing despite its proximity to a big public market in Taboan and in Langihan ^^

you had a hard time taking a taxicab precisely because of the inadequate units (NOT because of the city's readiness as you put it, having this kind of transpo)
...until now only two taxi companies have been granted by the city franchise to operate :ohno::ohno:(I dunno why)....during peaks 9 AM to 3PM.....they are usually around the port in Nasipit....or in the airport....at around 4PM up to 6 PM they are usually spotted around GMall and city hall area....if you are in the city center...the chances of getting a ride might be very nil...
hope the city will grant more operators of taxicabs for the city and province as well...

PNU Agusan Campus
The PNU Agusan Campus was established as a college on August 12, 1968 with the passage of RA 4242 through the efforts of Hon. Jose C. Aquino, then congressman of the lone District of Agusan del Sur.
In the first year of its founding, Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education was offered. A couple of years later, because of the demand of the locality, it ventured into another course, Bachelor of Science in Community Development. A new course, Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with major in English Language Teaching was opened in 1982 and the course offerings expanded with Mathematics, General Science, Home Economics, Filipino, and Social Studies as alternative fields of specialization. Graduate Education ensued with offering of different specialization courses such as Educational Management, English Language Teaching, Filipino Literature, Science Education, Mathematics Education, Non-Formal Education, Home Economics, and Physical Education.
The Agusan Campus community has also immersed itself in national and local government concerns. It continues to provide leadership in cultural activities for the preservation of folk arts: the music, dance and rituals of the Manobos and Higaonons of the province. For some years, the performing groups managed the staging of rituals and dances of the Manobo tribesmen for cultural festivals, both local and national.
Through all the years, PNU Agusan Campus, having gained support from the provincial and municipal officials, has served the many young people who have decided to join the country’s teaching force.
The first University in Caraga and the one and only PNU campus in Mindanao.

Project: Isang Bayan, Urbanidad! SSC Philippines National T-shirt design contest.
I think its time for the Skyscrapercity Philippines to have our own national t-shirt that would encompass all of the Filipinos of this archipelago, the OFWs, the immigrants, Fil-Ams and those who wish to be part of the Samahan of Skyscrapercity Pilipinas forumers (interested foreigners who want to have also their shirt) showcasing the artistry of the Filipinos in graphic t-shirt design.
Theme: Isang Bayan, Urbanidad!– Encompassing all of the aspects of urbanity of the Philippine cities and localities, as one nation in one t-shirt design. Being Filipino both here and abroad aiming for progress for the motherland.
Colour of Background:The design should be well incorporated in a black t-shirt.
The T-shirt Design
The proposal of the t-shirt design is open to all SSC Philippines forumers. The deadline for passing the t-shirt print design would be on December 05 2008. Have your t-shirt design posted in this thread link at the Samahan Forums entitled: Skyscrapercity Philippines/Pilipinas T-shirt Design Contest. (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=742588)
You may submit print designs either for one side (front or back only) or for two sides (front AND back). Each forumer is entitled to submit a maximum of three designs.

The Polls for the T-shirt Design
Voting for the preferred design for the t-shirt would start at December 6, 2008 to January 7, 2009. After the selection, whoever has the highest votes from the forumers for the design shall be the official print design for the SSC Philippines t-shirt. By mid-January to February, we would have our t-shirts available!
To vote, just log on to this webpage to chose the preferred design starting December 6 2008: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=742588
T-shirt costs...
The t-shirt would cost approximately from PhP150 to PhP500...but I hope we could find an affordable yet quality t-shirt printers. There may be an additional shipping cost for those living outside Manila.
Another proposal is to have contact persons in cities outside of Metro Manila. We will be sending the said t-shirt design to these contact persons and will be the ones who will print it in their locality.*
*There should be a common consensus regarding the logistics of production and delivery by December 2, 2005.
For the winner of the contest…
He or she is entitled for his/her free t-shirt with his/her design printed on it.
For those interested in having a t-shirt:
Have your name listed in this thread starting December 26 and deadline would be January 15, 2009 for the first batch. There would be an announcement for the second batch of orders after January 15. :)

Goldilucks products naa pero ambot kung naa Red Ribbon.
BXU-GCP November 8th, 2008, 03:46 PM napakahirap humanap ng taxi sa butuan most specially when your in the center of the city. really hard to find even one. i guess butuan is not yet ready for this kind of transportation.
Filino, Butuan Taxi's have radio communication facility that can be contacted by the base anywhere it goes within the city and its suburbs. You only have to call 3415555 and tell your location. The base will then locate for the taxi nearest to your location to pick you up.
I find this system helpful in the government efforts to conserve gasoline. These taxi's do not have to roam around even if they do not have any passenger.
Not all cities have this radio communication facility for their taxis.
In Gaisano mall though, you can always find a taxi ready for those with lots of shopping bags being carried.

BXU-GCP November 8th, 2008, 04:20 PM Based man gud sa logo nila its 2007 lang.
John Bosco College existed for a long time already. But starting 2007, it became a DeLaSalle managed school thus the name DeLaSalle-John Bosco College.
By the way, De La Salle Schools in the Philippines are independent from each other. De La Salle University-Manila in Taft Avenue and De La Salle-College of St Benilde just on the other side of Taft Avenue have different sets of standards and policies. They only share the LaSallian Spirit. De La Salle University-Dasmarinas and less than half a kilometer away is another school, the DeLaSalle Health Sciences Institute.
Dito nakakaungos ng konti ang Ateneo for they belong to one system. The standards therefore are uniform in Ateneo schools.

BXU-GCP November 10th, 2008, 02:41 AM BXU-GCP any idea when will be the start of their construction?
Once Robinson's Dumaguete and Robinson's Tacloban are completed, Robinson's General Santos and Robinson's Butuan are next in the pipeline. What I learned is that hindi pa tapos and development plan for the Robinson's Property in Butuan. Hindi lang kasi mall ang target ng Robinsons sa mga bagong properties nila, kasama na ang residential builings (condos). Magandang strategy ito ng Robinson's to have a captured market for the mall. Most likely 2010 pa masimulan ang Butuan project and will open sa 2012. Pag nasimulan sa 2009 it will be a big WOW.
BXU-GCP November 10th, 2008, 02:59 AM wow....Cebu-Butuan DAILY service and A319 jet service pa^^
Yes Bob, CEB will start a daily Ceb-Bxu flight using A319 on December 12, 2008. Starting January 20,2009 5x a week na lang siya. No flights on tuesdays and thursdays. Pero starting March 19, 2009 daily na ulit.
This bulk of air passengers for the Ceb-Bxu sector is the result of the penalty imposed on Sulpicio Lines. Iilan lang ang barko ng Cebu Ferries at Carlos A Gothong Lines kaya hindi sila nakapagfield in ng sched doon sa vacuum na iniwan ng Sulpicio. Tapos ang airfare pa is just a few hundreds lang ang difference sa barko. may mga times pa na mas mura ang plane pag nakakuha ng promo.
Significantly nag-increase din ang aircargo. This is a good indicator kasi hindi naman nagkulang ng cargo ships between Bxu-Ceb and Bxu-Mnl. This shows perishable high value products of Butuan/Caraga is now finding its way to Ceb and Manila. The bulk of this cargo are aquamarine products (prawns, grouper(lapu lapu), crabs, and LOBSTERS(tama si regjeex). the lobsters are from Siargao and Surigao del Sur. Fresh fruits are regular cargo too.

These malls will open by 2009. Ang natapos na development plan sa ngayon ay sa GenSan so am sure they are working now on the Butuan property. Yes kasama sa development plan ang residential buildings kaya masyadong malaki ang area na kinuha nila. Actually malapit na ang 2010 kaya antay lang tayo ng kaunti.
SM will definitely put up a mall in Butuan pero when wala pa tayong idea. Sa ngayon uunahin ni Henry Sy ang paglagay ng SM sa GenSan. If you notice when Robinsons formally announced the construction of its mall in Gen San, bigla na ring nagpost ng announcement ang SM to put also a mall.
Baka ganon din mangyari sa Butuan. Once mag-officially announce na ang Robinsons regarding the construction of a mall in Butuan, mag-announce din si Henry Sy for SMCity Butuan.

Isa lang ang passenger ship ng Gothong Southern, ito ang Dona Rita Sr. The ship ply the CGY-CEB route 3x a week and CGY-JAG once a week. Kung tutuusin tight na ang sched ng barko na ito pero the company still was able to accommodate a once a week trip for the NAS-JAG route. For sometime, once a week na lang may barko sa NAS-JAG because of the penalty imposed on Sulpicio.
As an added info, Carlos A Gothong Lines Inc and Gothong Southern are two different companies.

jameslab8470 November 10th, 2008, 03:43 PM Yes. I think sayop ang predictions sa akong miga. anyway, those are predictions lang. When I left for Butuan last October 26, puno ang Q300. When I went back to Cebu last Nov 5, fully booked ang flight. grabe kaayo ka daghan puno ang pre departure. I really can sense the chaos if duha ka A319 ang almost magdungan ang flight sa BXU. The day when I left to Cebu, Kusog kaayo ang ulan. may gani naka landing ra ang plane. naa na diay to low pressure dapit surigao ato. Gwapa ang mga flight attendants. u can really compare the FA's of PAL Express. And by the way, Cebu Pacific is now selling snacks in their CEB - BXU route unlike before.

BOB-bXu November 11th, 2008, 05:14 AM Lawmaking in two Mindanao provinces goes high-tech
By MM Gillera, Newsbreak | 11/11/2008 9:15 AM
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—Senators and congressmen would envy their local counterparts in two Mindanao provinces who have gone high tech in their legislative procedures.
Since October, Misamis Oriental Vice Governor Norris Babiera and the provincial board members have been holding their legislative sessions without the usual pile of photocopies of legislative measures, proposals, and memoranda. Instead, sleek and brand new laptop computers occupy their desks.
It’s a virtually paperless and wireless system until the legislative measures are approved. It is only by then that a hard copy would be necessary for the signatures of approval of the local legislature and for its submission to the governor.
The system is an innovation that the province copied from the provincial government of Agusan del Sur, which was the first in the Philippines to go high-tech in 2007.
Butuan City is next, making it the first city to adopt the system. The city government has purchased the computers and is currently training its staff.
Babiera said an ordinance will be filed to institutionalize the system. "Politicians do come and go. So, regardless of who would the next kagawads or vice governor would be, the training of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan staff will continue so that the system will remain in order that the pro-active legislation stays, which is ultimately the aim of the legislative council," he told Newsbreak.
Accessible to media, Too
To make the system effective, the necessary materials are scanned and saved onto the network of laptops. The vice governor, who heads provincial legislative body, takes charge of the “server desktop,” which is the brain of the system.
Everyone’s connected through wi-fi technology. Even the media inside the session hall may access the documents. Once the session begins, they all just have to connect to the network and access the documents.
If more documents are presented in the last minute, they will be quickly scanned and saved onto the network.
"The scanner works swiftly without noise and light at all. So, if a board member has a paper document for presentation, it can immediately be scanned and uploaded to all the laptops of the board members," Misamis Oriental’s provincial IT unit head Oliver Egypto boasted to Newsbreak.
The scanners can supposedly scan 20 pages per minute. Egypto says the province is just one of five in the country that has so far purchase such a scanner.
And to make sure the files are safe, a desktop and a mobile disk serve as backup in the unfortunate event of a virus attack or a computer crash. The back-up is under the custody of the vice governor.
Easy to use, easy on the pocket
The board members were all receptive to the new system even if majority of them are admittedly computer illiterate.
"When we visited the province of Agusan del Sur to observe their system, we thought it would be a complicated process. However, we were wrong. Any tech-savvy who did not go to formal IT studies can do it, so when we came back, we tried it and we found it was easy," Egypto added.
The entire project cost the province P1 million. To fund the project, Babiera said they realigned the P1.5-million budget for a new vehicle.
Egypto said the project would have cost more. But instead of hiring IT experts to train the board members, they tapped the tech-savvy staff of the provincial government. He said they must have saved up to P300,000 in doing that.
The board members believe that the new system will eventually help them save money for the province. The province’s 2008 budget for office supplies and repair and maintenance of office equipment was pegged at P782,500.
With the paperless and wireless technology, the province could supposedly save up to P29,000 per month.
If their calculations are accurate, they would have recovered the cost of the new system after less than three years. (Newsbreak)

BOB-bXu November 11th, 2008, 11:43 AM Former DA chief Escudero pushes for re-nationalization of AEWs in RP
by Aurell P. Arais
Butuan City (11 November) -- "There is no secret in increasing agricultural production, it only differs in the efficiency on program implementation". This was the challenge posed by former Agriculture Secretary Salvador H. Escudero, now Sorsogon representative, to all Agricultural Extension Workers in Caraga during the 1st AEW Congress held recently in Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center.
Escudero was the keynote speaker during the congress which was attended by at least 800 extension workers, DA-13 and attached agencies employees, media and press counterpart, as part of the week-long celebration of the World Food Week with the theme "Agricultural Extension Workers: Linkaging to the Realization of the DA's FIELDS Program".
In his address, Escudero commented that the program of the agriculture department under Secretary Arthur Yap us laudable but the implementation is hampered due to devolution.
"The secretary has the responsibility but without any authority over you people. You are the most important part of the extension arm and yet hindi kayo napasailalim ng secretary of agriculture" he stated. "And it is not your fault; it is the fault of the system. During our time when everything was under the national government we invest a lot on your trainings", he said.
He further said that he has radio program in Manila-based radio station and numerous letters coming from listeners to ask even a very basic question regarding agriculture.
It was recalled that agricultural extension workers were devolved to the local government units (LGU) due to the imposition of the local government code.
According to him, the situation prompted him to file a bill for re-nationalization of agricultural extension workers.
"Before I field the bill, based on consultations, town that belongs to class 1 and 2 to stay with the local government, class 3 to 6 gustong bumalik na. Nu'ng ifinile ko na ang bill 75% nung nasa 2nd class gusto na ring bumalik at yung nasa 1st class kalahati ay gusto na ring bumalik", enthused Escudero.
"So I said my dear friends the local government code has been with us for 14 years. The law states, this law cannot be amended for 5 years. But what had happened. We hear so many complain in the sector of agriculture", he added.
However he clarified that he is not dictating the agricultural extension workers on what to do whether to support his bill for re-nationalization or remain in the arm of local government unit.
"Ganito ang gawin ninyo, kung ano ang sa tingin ninyo ang makakabuti sa sector ng agriculture yon po ang gagawin ninyong kasagutan. "Wag ninyong isipin ang ikabubuti ninyo kasi megreretiro din kayo. Ang isipin ninyo ay ang pangkalahatan", he concluded.
With this, AEWs in Caraga have to come up with a unified stand and will inform the Hon. Escudero on the matter the soonest possible time through its president, League of Municipal Agriculturists in Caraga, Mr. Sahibbon Julasiri.
Followed shortly after the keynote speech of Hon. Escudero were the updates of FIELDS components supports such as Gma-Rice as tackled by Mr. Abner Montecalvo, GMA Rice Program Coordinator for Mindanao; Corn Updates as delivered by GMA Corn Program Secretariat, Mr. Milo delos Reyes; Livestock updates by Dr. Fredo Prado of the Livestock Development Council, on Fisheries updates by Assistant Regional Director Nerio Casil of BFAR Caraga, Accelerated Hunger Mitigation Program as discussed by Rhoda Pintuan of the Bureau of Plant Industry and updates on High Value Commercial Crops as presented by Mr. Benjamin D. Dalaguan of DA-RFU 13. Towards the end part of the day was the open forum and surfacing of issues and concerns to further smoothen program implementation for the ensuing year. (DA-13/PIA-Caraga)

hello deadspyder, mas maayo you take the DVO-BXU then to CDO route...
you can drop by to your friends in BXU while your having a day stop in the city..
then from BXU to CGY....aircon buses fare I gues would be somewhere around 150 estimates ( I am not sure of the price ).....
DVO->BXU->CDO trip would be cheaper I believe so than taking DVO via buda ->CDO->BXU

Yeah mag 5 years nako diri sa Iraq. Well, ila man gipili si Obama the number 1 ni oppose sa war so dawaton nila mga kano ang reality na mawalaan sila ug work back home... taas kaayo ang unemployement sa US karon... daghan nasuko mga kauban nako nga puti. They started to pulled out 20 thou US troops here this month. Some contractors are closed already ang uban nag hinay hinay na.. ako na tan awon lang kay waz pa wawart...hehehe Pero wonder why nga nag put up og headquarters ang US state dept. diri sa among area... so probably until 2011 or what not. Not totally manghawa sila.. they will decrease lang muna ang mga troops tas turn over nila ung mga batallion sa mga local iraqis like what happened in Kuwait they still have troops there... ganun ang mangyari dito.. kahit talo sa gyera ang US. F:ohno::ohno:ull of shame...

Toymatz November 11th, 2008, 04:29 PM you had a hard time taking a taxicab precisely because of the inadequate units (NOT because of the city's readiness as you put it, having this kind of transpo)
...until now only two taxi companies have been granted by the city franchise to operate :ohno::ohno:(I dunno why)....during peaks 9 AM to 3PM.....they are usually around the port in Nasipit....or in the airport....at around 4PM up to 6 PM they are usually spotted around GMall and city hall area....if you are in the city center...the chances of getting a ride might be very nil...
hope the city will grant more operators of taxicabs for the city and province as well...

BXU-GCP November 12th, 2008, 02:04 AM Yes.
This is because fully installed na ang runway and tarmac lights. Soon pwede na ang night flight sa bancasi.

OK lang pag land banking... if they bought it just now, siguro more like 1-2 years pa development. SM is positioning itself in every major city in the country. That would also help decongest NCR by making its presence felt in the provinces.

rally November 13th, 2008, 09:04 AM My condolences to the Tan and Sia family for the untimely demise of Edison and Charade. What a tragic accident.
I have goosebumps right now because at around 5 pm of that day (Nov. 11) i got to meet and was introduced to the couple by one of their client Boya Bonpin. A few hours later on their way home to Butuan, the accident occurred. Edison had his camera around his neck when we were introduced.
By the way they were just married last Oct. 18, 2008. very sad indeed.

Im not sure if this is an accurate report, the escape i mean. it seems the truck had a flat tire and the driver and companions had left either to look for help or to have the tire vulcanized. It would seem that truck was at standstill on the road. Also that there were EWD placed in front and at the back of the truck. Also allgedly there are no skid marks on the road indicating that DMAX was not able to slow down and aplly the brakes.this is unofficial of course.

The study zeroed in on the growth and in areas lagging behind economically and the extent of poverty as a result of the conflict that has affected the populace, particularly the indigenous people and the displaced persons.
It found out that economic activities are booming in the coastal cities of Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Zamboanga, General Santos and Butuan. However, uneven benefits spilled over nearby towns, the WB study says.
The study also cited the importance of governance in dealing the Mindanao conflict, noting that poor governance is linked to lower growth in conflict areas.
It also dealt on the need of infrastructure, particularly farm-to-market roads and electrification to attain economic development.
The WB study also said that growth is higher in non-conflict areas and lowest in municipalities that are isolated and where conflicts of all types exist.
Judd said the World Bank will also brief the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and donor countries on Thursday. (PNA)

Butuan City (17 November) -- "The construction of 1.937 billion pesos worth of circumferential road from Barangay Bit-os going to Barangay Tungao passing through Las Nieves all the way to Esperanza and the City of Bayugan, Agusan del Sur is expected to start before the year ends."
This was revealed by Butuan City Mayor Democrito D. Plaza II during the Mayor's Forum held recently at the Butuan City Hall.
Equipment and other heavy machineries of the Cavite Development, being the lowest bidder conducted by the City General Services, the above-mentioned project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

BOB-bXu November 18th, 2008, 03:28 PM Immaculate Conception Parish Holds Parish Assembly
18 November 2008
BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – One hundred seventy-nine parishioners of the Immaculate Conception Parish of St. Joseph Subdivision, Butuan City, gathered at the Department of Education – Agusan del Norte Training Center last 15 November 2008 for a one-day Parish Assembly. The participants represented the 12 Chapels, 10 Blocks and various religious and mandated organizations.
The Parish Assembly is the culmination of a series of seminar-workshops held by the family and neighborhood groupings as well as chapel assemblies since June 2008.
The purpose and output of the confab was the formulation of the vision and identity statement of the parish. The Parish Assembly was facilitated by the combined group from Bukal ng Tipan and the Diocesan Formation Team
A Eucharistic celebration presided by Butuan Auxiliary Bishop Zacharias Jimenez closed the Assembly. In his homily, the good Bishop congratulated the Parish for being the first from the City and Agusan de Norte parishes to hold such an activity. He lauded the high level of Parish development as gleaned from the people’s participation in all the parish activities both in its liturgical and pastoral life.
The confab was successfully conducted through the concerted and organized effort of the Parish Pastoral Formation Team with very minimal participation from the priest.
The participation of the grassroots level – FG’s and BEC – in the Diocesan Vision and Mission formulation and validation is part of the thrust of the Diocese to ensure the VMG (Vision, Mission, Goal) will be fully implemented and owned by the faithful.
The Immaculate Conception Parish is presently under the pastoral care of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. The MSC priests assigned here are Fr Severino N. Diamante, Jr, MSC, Fr Ruel Salinas, MSC and Fr Rolando Cuasito, MSC.
