regjeex January 23rd, 2009, 01:17 PM yeah daghan areas na mo click jud sya but then mao lagi depende pod sa owner sa lot.

regjeex January 23rd, 2009, 01:19 PM Dapat lang pod na ang Mcdo will add another 1 kay murag gamay ra jud ang naa sa Gmall.
in that case...the playing field is wide open for either a 3rd or fourth Jolibee branch....versus that upcoming McDonalds store in Aquino-Montilla Blvd.
McDonalds have a ready land already at this corner lot..
Be it sa owner sa land, sa agreement, sa building nga rentahan kay daghan i-consider (like sanitation sa surroundings, fire safety, etc) or wala na vacant lot if mag-put up og free standing store. the company is also limiting franchise stores nga i-open. wala na ga-open franchise sa VISMIN area.
jsl_bxu1206 January 23rd, 2009, 01:23 PM Mao gyud. Ila gyud na dapat i-consider to open more branches in BXU. Huna-hunaa, Dumaguete is a small city pero set na tanan for the opening of their fourth branch in Robinson's Place. Tagbilaran has 3 branches too! Ozamis has a drive-thru Jollibee. Unya kita kay mao lang gihapon after so many years.

I also hope nga mahatagan man lang ta bisan 3 more branches in BXU in 2010 kay the company's vision is to have 4,000 stores in 2010 (all brands na).

jsl_bxu1206 January 23rd, 2009, 02:26 PM I'll also try to get info from our regional office regarding the 2 future stores coz i'm requesting for a relocation man sad. Basin naa sila ma-divulge nga info.
When we went home last month for a vacation, i could tell daghan gyud bag-o sa BXU. The projects were awesome, naa uban nga di nimo makit-an sa laing cities. The New Bridge is a superb artistry! Naa pa ba lugar aside from Cebu and BXU nga naa suspension bridge?
jsl_bxu1206 January 23rd, 2009, 02:30 PM Wow! Pwede na ni sila mo-compete sa Sinulog! i'm sure naa gyud ni sila madag-an nga prize!

Daghan taga-layo nangapil like Pampanga, Parañaque, Camarines Sur, Masbate, Samar, Iloilo, Sultan Kudarat, Zamboanga provinces, Lanao and etc...

regjeex January 23rd, 2009, 08:54 PM DA Caraga conducts 1st quarter RAITF Meeting
by Jennifer P. Gaitano
Butuan City (23 January) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga conducted recently its 1st Quarter Regional Avian Influenza Task Force (RAITF) Meeting with the presence of Animal Health Committee Chairman John Gamboa, Sr. and its partner agencies held in one of the hotels here.
RAITF members convened and discussed the accomplishments for 2008 including logistic support from DA-Caraga and Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI); contingency plan for avian influenza; table top simulation for Agusan del Sur; the submission of work and financial plan and proposals for 2009; plans for 2009; and other issues and concerns.
During the meeting, Animal Health Committee Chairman John Gamboa Sr. presented the accomplishment report of the Avian Influenza Preparedness Program (AIPP).
According to Chairman Gamboa that RAITF has distributed office, laboratory, drug and biologics supplies to the Local Government Units (LGUs) regionwide for the AIPP Task Forces in 2008.
Chairman Gamboa also added that RAITF also distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like rubber boots, scrub suits, googles, and isolation gowns to its task forces regionwide including the Department of Health (DOH).
'A total of 192 rubber boots, 300 scrub suits, 300 googles, and 540 isolation gowns were distributed to the task forces in the provinces of Caraga with a total number of 1332 equipments,' Gamboa said.
It was also learned that the proposed activities for 2009 are the finalization of the Avian Influenza Contingency Plan; Lake Mainit and Agusan Marsh Mapping; Table Top Simulation on AI Preparedness; and the continuous strengthening of LGU Task Forces.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lorene Catedral, RAITF focal person of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga suggested to the committee to meet again on February 10, 2009 for the refinement of the Contingency Plan while the finalization and approval will be conducted on February 17, 2009, which RAITF members approved.
Also, the presentation for adoption of the contingency plan was partially scheduled on the last week of March or first week of April 2009 in time with the conduct of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) Meeting.
The task force is also set to conduct photo and video documentation of wild and migratory birds on February 3 and 4, 2009 at Masao area of Butuan City and Lake Mainit, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte, which is also a venue to expose task force members in observing the presence of migratory birds in the hotspot areas in the region and help the members identify these birds in actual view.
With the plans set by the RAITF members, Chairman Gamboa believes that the committee will continue to intensify fights against AI, and to constantly disseminate information to the public regarding AI issues and concerns. (PIA-Caraga) [top]
regjeex January 23rd, 2009, 08:59 PM "Makamasang Tugon" project gears up P17-M fund transfer to 2 Caraga towns
by Sundilyn Bedro and Erica Morales
Butuan City (23 January) -- Following the formal MOA Signing of the newly-launched KALAHI-CIDSS' CDD-LPP Harmonization Pilot Inititative, simply dubbed as "Makamasang Tugon, " the Department of Social Welfare and Development is now facilitating the fund transfer to two f its target municipalities - the towns of Las Nieves and Jabonga in Agusan del Norte.
With an inidicative budget of P500,000 per barangay, the Makamasang Tugon Project will allocate Las Nieves and Jabonga with P10.5 and P7.5 Million, respectively plus a corresponding thirty percent cash and in-kind counterpart from the MLGU, BLGU and barangays that would avail infrastructure projects that would help reduce poverty.
According to Sundilyn Bedro, KALAHI-CIDSS' Community Process Specialist, the present efforts of partner municiplities in the implementation of the project is now geared to the preparation and finalization of their detailed project proposals.
"Their own municipal staff provided full technical support to all participating barangays previously formed during the earlier KC Project implementa-tion in 2004. They are called the Municipal Coordinating Team (MCT's), replacing the former Area Coordinating Team of KC. Their primary task is to provide full support to all barangays in the implementation of "Makamasang Tugon," she said.
However, she emphasized that this is not an easy task among partner LGU's. The implementation plan proposed by each municipality required everyone to review their KC project implementation experience.
"DSWD's minimal guidance in the project implementation helped each municipality focus its efforts based on its plan, ensuring people's participation, transparency and social accountability," Ms. Bedro explained.
Early this year, both municipalities flooded because of heavy rains that caused Agusan River for Las Nieves and Mainit Lake for Jabonga to overflow. Despite the odds, the community volunteers continue to work based on the agreed workplan. Adjustments were made for the timeframe and everyone is working double time.
Jabonga commits to assign an additional municipal engineer to help in the technical preparation while Las Nieves completed technical documents for its 20 barangays.
The "Makamasang Tugon" is a pilot initiative that seeks to conceptualize the framework for KALAHI-CIDSS Part 2. The towns of Las Nieves and Jabonga were chosen as target municipalities for their commendable 3-year implementation of KALAHI-CIDSS Project. (DSWD-13/PIA-Caraga) [top]

BOB-bXu January 24th, 2009, 04:59 AM Good idea...post daun diri Sir. I think bisan pag 3 branches ang sa BXU sa akong paminaw ani murag mag huot lang gihapon.
I can see that too Reg......look at Dunkin Donuts.....they can even have 4 outlets in BXU (AD Curato-Rizal Plaza; Aquino Ave; Taboan; GMall) with just bunwiches and donuts on their shelves....why not for a giant like Jollibee??
I must say that the people manning the Butuan area jollibee are too UNagressive...
BOB-bXu January 24th, 2009, 05:05 AM 3 branches good to me....
3 more additional branches...
but the waiting fatigue might set in to their impatient costumers waiting the lines...
jollibee stores could NOT be used as a direct barometer of growth though....fine dining restos ARE the better barometers..
take a look at those fast food chains...the more branches they open....the smaller their servings have become...
BOB-bXu January 24th, 2009, 05:09 AM Sa akong panglantaw murag dugay pa gyud cguro na pero eventually mo-sprout ra mga establishments dinha. Was there an instance nga ni-overflow ang river dinha nga area? or nagbaha lang gyud? San Vicente na noh?
nope nope....no floods in San Vicente now...^^
BOB-bXu January 24th, 2009, 05:13 AM its costly joining the Sinulog.....the Siargao LGU contingent was a budget disappointment.....mag concentrate na lang kita sa ato mga lokal nga mga festivals dire....and strive to make it at par with Sinulog standards...

Gipobrehan cguro sila sa mga taga BXU. hehehe:cheers:
I can see that too Reg......look at Dunkin Donuts.....they can even have 4 outlets in BXU (AD Curato-Rizal Plaza; Aquino Ave; Taboan; GMall) with just bunwiches and donuts on their shelves....why not for a giant like Jollibee??
I must say that the people manning the Butuan area jollibee are too UNagressive...

regjeex January 24th, 2009, 06:39 AM Agree jud ko Bob. Pero IMO, dapat ang Balangai Festival ang i promote og maayo. Puro ra man jud sila fluvial parada... walay street dancing competition. Dapat our own local festival ang ila i promote og insakto. Ang Kahimunan man gud gisundong lang sa sinulog and ati-atihan... Like for example ang Maskara festival nga local jud sa Bacolod and original festival jud ang ila...Like bonok-bonok diba...original sad cguro ang ila...or kahit ang Abayan Festival and Palagsing diba...:cheers:
its costly joining the Sinulog.....the Siargao LGU contingent was a budget disappointment.....mag concentrate na lang kita sa ato mga lokal nga mga festivals dire....and strive to make it at par with Sinulog standards...
regjeex January 24th, 2009, 07:03 AM FNRI-developed food products may help boost nutrition of schoolchildren
by Divorah V. Aguila
Butuan City (23 January) -- There has been a lot of discussion about the most appropriate type of supplementary foods for children. Recent research suggests that certain types of food may promote quicker weight gain than foods that have been traditionally used in supplementary feeding programs (SFPs). As SFPs continue to be one of the major direct nutrition interventions that address malnutrition among children, the quest for the right food mix that can be used for the program is given much attention.
A research team of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST) led by Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa assessed the effects of school-based supplementary feeding using FNRI-developed food products on the nutritional status of children. These products include pan de sal, loaf bread and buns with squash, iron-fortified instant pancit bihon, iron-fortified chocolate crinkles, fortified juices and health drinks.
Two groups of children were studied. Children in the experimental group were dewormed and fed nutritious food products. Children in the control group were dewormed only.
Results revealed that after 100 days of feeding, children in the experimental group had significant increases in weight, height, hemoglobin levels, iron stores, and vitamin A. Prevalence of underweight was significantly lower in the supplement-fed group than the control group at endline.
The study showed concrete evidence that the FNRI-developed food products rich in vitamin A and iron were effective in improving the prevalence of underweight and iron stores of schoolchildren over a period of 100 feeding days. Thus, local production of these food items is recommended.
For more information on said nutritious food products or on food and nutrition, contact Dr. Mario V. Capanzana, Director, Food and Nutrition Research Institute, Department of Science and Technology, General Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig City at Telephone/Fax Numbers: 837-2934 or 837-3164; Direct Line: 839-1839; DOST Trunk Line: 837-2071 to 82 local 2296 or 2284; or you may also send e-mail at mar_v_c@yahoo.com or at mvc@fnri.dost.gov.ph; FNRI-DOST website: http://www.fnri.dost.gov.ph. regjeex January 24th, 2009, 07:04 AM Feature: Are supplements necessary for children?
by Ma. Idelia G. Glorioso
Butuan City (23 January) -- The best sources of nutrients are still foods. But there may be instances when your child needs to take supplements – to add more nutrients to an unbalanced diet. Supplements are needed if your child is showing signs of specific nutrient deficiency and is not eating a variety of foods, as outlined in the Daily Nutritional Guide Pyramid for Children.
As long as the child is partaking of an adequate balanced diet and is unconstrained by illness or economic factors, there is no real need for nutritional supplements.
However, due to economic and other reasons, many Filipino preschool children are at risk of nutritional deficiencies, such as vitamin A deficiency (VAD), iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), as revealed in the latest nutrition survey of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute, Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST). Thus, as a general rule, until the diets of Filipino children improve and food fortification is universal, there is a need for nutritional supplements to prevent these deficiencies. In fact, vitamin A supplementation has been shown not only to prevent VAD but also to lower child mortality in high-risk areas. Iron supplements not only prevent anemia but also has other positive benefits to recipients such as lowering the risk to infection, decreasing the risk to morbidity and mortality and improving mental performance.
As a parent, you want to help your child grow and develop to optimal potential. One of the ways you can do this is by offering meals and snacks that meet your child's nutrient and developmental needs. Variety in daily meals helps your child get used to the different tastes, textures and appearance of foods.
To do this, take a look at and follow the "Daily Nutritional Guide Pyramid for Filipino Children" developed by the FNRI-DOST. For example, a six year-old child should eat servings like Two to four and one-half (2 – 4 1/2) servings a day of rice, rice products, corn, root crops, bread, or noodles. Choose whole grains for extra fiber. One serving is equal to one cup of rice, or four slices of loaf bread, or two slices puto, or five pieces small pandesal, or one cup corn, or two cups noodles, or one cup cooked rootcrops. One-third to one-half (1/3 – 1/2) serving a day of green leafy vegetables and other vegetables. One serving of vegetable is equal to 1/2 cup cooked.
Another is to eat One to two (1 - 2) servings of fruits a day, one of which is vitamin C-rich fruit. Consider fruit for snacks. One serving of fruit is equal to one medium-sized fruit or one slice of a big fruit. One to one and one-third (1- 1 1/3) servings a day of fish, shellfish, meat and poultry, dried beans and nuts, and eggs. Limit intake of fatty meats, cholesterol-rich food and saturated fats. One serving is equal to one piece medium sized fish, or 1/3 cup shellfish, shelled, or 3 centimeters cube (one matchbox size) cooked pork/beef/chicken, or 1/3 cup cooked dried beans/nuts, or one slice cheese, or one piece chicken egg, or one piece tokwa. Drink one serving of milk and milk products a day such as one glass of milk.
Four to five servings a day of sugar/sweets. Consume sweets in moderation. One serving of sugar is equal to one teaspoon honey, or one piece hard candy. Six servings a day of fats and oils a day. One serving of fat is equal to one teaspoon mayonnaise, or one teaspoon margarine/butter, or one teaspoon peanut butter.
On the other hand, drink lots of water (four to seven glasses a day), depending on your age, physical activity, and health condition among others.
To get a copy of the Nutritional Guide Pyramid, contact Dr. Mario V. Capanzana, Director, Food and Nutrition Research Institute, Department of Science and Technology, General Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig City, at Telephone/Fax No. 837-2934,837-3164; 837-20-71 local 2287, 837-8113 local 325 or email at mvc@fnri.dost.gov.ph, or visit FNRI-DOST website at http:// www.fnri.dost.gov.ph. regjeex January 24th, 2009, 07:09 AM DA Caraga conducts 1st quarter RAITF Meeting
by Jennifer P.
(PIA-Caraga) [top]
regjeex January 24th, 2009, 07:28 AM HOW TRUE IS THIS?
Mindanao 15 bridges damaged by flash floods in Mindanao01/24/2009 | 02:23 AM
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines - Fifteen bridges connecting the cities of Butuan, Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, have been destroyed or partly damaged by the recent flashfloods and landslides in Misamis Oriental.
Gov. Oscar S. Moreno told President Arroyo during her visit here early this week. Mr. Moreno has asked the President during her visit for more assistance as relief goods available are not adequate.
The damage, he added, would also affect the smooth flow of goods within Northern Mindanao and Caraga unless an immediate bridge rehabilitation program is launched.
Governor Moreno added that as of middle of this week, damage of the calamity as reported by local government units has reached P538 million. Mr. Moreno said that there are 558 residential structures wiped out and 932 partially destroyed. He added agricultural losses could reach over P67 million after a vast hectarage planted to rice, corn, vegetables and fruit trees were submerged at the height of the heavy downpour and overflowing of rivers and creeks.
Meanwhile, a week after Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula issued an order to stop and close mining operations in the city, one official of the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office said the order is difficult to implement.
Mario Batar, of the city’s environment office, said closing mining operations creates problems because it involves strict monitoring.
"We lack personnel to monitor mining firms operating in the city," he said, noting that there are 35 small-scale mining operators engage in non-metallic and metallic extraction in 10 barangays and most are located in upland areas.
Mr. Batay said that aside from manpower and the location problems, some barangay officials are involved in illegal mining, which is difficult to stop. However, two illegal operators have stopped their activities after the wake of the floods, while five others are still active today. -

Sa tinuod nindot jud ang Filinvest aside nga secured ang area tapos
may privacy jud ang kada pamilya. Then homeowners and lot-owners are free
to use our first class resort amenities, ang i-shoulder nalang ninyo is ang food
para sa visitors ninyo.
Our initial prices for house and lots packages, this is just to give you ideas how much,
It will be around 3.5M to 4.5M and above, all prices depends upon your choice.
So much better jud kung kadtong naay luag ug bulsa nga mo-invest or mokuha na silag lot while low pa ang price.
Others just buy lot as investment, for buy and sell purposes. :)

jsl_bxu1206 January 24th, 2009, 11:13 AM MANILA, Jan. 14 (PNA) -- Cebu Pacific (CEB), the country’s leading domestic airline, will mount additional frequencies to 11 of its domestic routes despite the weak economic forecast for the country.
Starting March, this year, just in time for summer, the airline will increase its frequency from Manila to: Bacolod, to four times daily; Butuan, to twice daily; Cagayan de Oro, to five times daily; Caticlan, to 10 times daily; Cebu, to 11 times daily; Davao, to six times daily; Iloilo, to 31 times weekly; General Santos, to 10 times weekly; Legaspi, to thrice daily; Tagbilaran, to thrice daily; and Zamboanga, to twice daily.
This brings CEB’s weekly domestic flights from 1,074 to 1,252.
Candice Iyog, CEB VP for marketing and distribution, said that the airline is expecting three more aircraft this January and February.
“These brand new aircraft -- two Airbus and one ATR-72 500 -- will be utilized to expand our growing domestic network,” Iyog said.
Iyog added, “In spite of the economic downturn, we remain optimistic that we will be able to continue stimulating domestic travel because of the value proposition CEB offers to the traveling public.”
CEB carried a record breaking 683,204 passengers in December 2008, the highest in the airline’s history. Prior to this, CEB carried the most number of passengers in May 2008 at 630,924.
CEB has also positioned itself as a viable transport alternative to buses and ferries.
“Aside from additional frequencies, CEB will continue to offer its trademark low fares and new aircraft to its passengers,” Iyog added.
CEB currently services the most number of domestic routes among all local carriers. Its additional aircraft will increase its fleet to 21 Airbus and seven ATR-72 500.(PNA)

Power shortage tops concerns at Mindanao business meeting
KORONADAL — After nine years, Mindanao’s main gathering of business leaders will be held here this September 17-18, with the looming power crisis feared to grip the island topping the agenda, the leader of the event’s organizers said in an interview last Tuesday.
Carlito Y. Uy, president of the South Cotabato Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., said discussions during the 18th Mindanao Business Conference will continue to focus on improving the island’s agriculture, trade and tourism potentials.
"But a major concern will also center on the imminent power shortage feared to hit Mindanao. Stable electricity supply is very important if Mindanao is to continue its economic growth," he said in an interview.
Mr. Uy said that the proposed 200-megawatt coal-fired plant of Alcantara-led Conal Holdings Corp in Maasim, Sarangani alone will not be able to address the projected increase in power demand in the next few years in Mindanao.
Earlier, Archimedes Flores, general manager of Aboitiz Energy Solutions, said the "biggest challenge" to Mindanao right now is to attract investors to build, starting next year, power plants with total capacity of 484 megawatts that can start delivering electricity by 2014.
The annual conference is by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a bid to attract investments in resource-rich Mindanao, parts of which have been troubled for decades by the rebellion waged by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
Mr. Uy said organizers expect around 500 top business and government leaders to attend this year’s forum, with some participants from Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The conference last year was held in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.
Mindanao, the country’s second largest island, has an area of 102,043 square kilometers that offers fertile soil and abundant mineral reserves.
The island has been positioned as the country’s "food basket," producing nearly half of the food consumed by Filipinos.
Mindanao is also blessed with abundant rainfall, but is relatively free of typhoons.
Such general climate, in turn, allows year-round production of a wide variety of food and commercial products.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Our Agusan leaders should consider this opportunity by taking part of this gathering on September and start looking for a potential location for an industrial zone.

Pero this will require extra efforts from our leaders to become a reality.
regjeex January 24th, 2009, 02:00 PM TAMA!

Dumaguete has been the center of education for quite along time and their marine resources is rich. There are power plants also in the nearby places.
Ang Tagum nadala na sa Davao City and the gold mines of Compostela Valley. On my way to Davao last month , I was surprised to see after 15 years the big development of Tagum .
Ang Agusan nahurot na ang natural resources so kinahanglan kayod ug pangita ug lain nga alternatives para molambo.
regjeex January 24th, 2009, 02:39 PM Once this upcoming projects will be materialized.. then we can say more investors coming in sa BXU...

physical infra like roads and highways is not a problem for BXU....look where are the new highways in Mindanao are built for the past 5 years....and still more are being built like that of BXU-Esperanza-Bayugan...
our disaster mitigation infra like LADP-CARBDP is the first extensive in the country, and is replicated in Luzon's CAMANAVA and in Iloilo Phase 1 Flood Control Project
ports, we have 3 active ports (nasipit,bxu-masao,bxu-agusan river)
airports (ongoing upgrade) and currently trunkline airport..
telecoms...we have excelllent coverage from Bayantel, Philcom (now PLDT); CruzTel (PLDT); Globe and DOTC-TelOf.... you can call using your wireless landline wherever in the city to your friends in Nasipit, Cabadbaran, and bayugan, and many parts of Agusan at local rates..
we did not see these facilities, hotels and big convention centers for past 8 years...
maybe its NOT the physical infra thats lacking.....maybe ITS US the people..
people make a city work...and this DOES NOT put over reliance on our leaders...
I must say, let's count ourselves as active contributors to the citys growth....whether you are at home....or abroad

you are corect Reg....Pilipinas has much more malls compared to Vietnam....BUT who is growing faster?
There are also lesser malls and urban luxuries in Indonesia than our Pilipinas...but we are still behind...
it's quiet superficial really using these things as yardsticks Reg...
BOB-bXu January 24th, 2009, 03:36 PM that's another and additional good news... cant's wait to see Mancao with the lagoons and van terminal...:)
Reg, Mancao lease has expired already...and the building where mancao Superpalengke was reverts to the City base on their lease contract...

BOB-bXu January 24th, 2009, 03:46 PM And once they're here..makaluluoy ang mga local businesses
the leverage of quality will definitely go up...the locals need to shape up.or ship out...before the national chains arived some 18 years approximately ago....people used to just dine in small eateries and carenderyas.....now the chains have been here since then.....you dont see often anymore the good old carenderias.....what you find are the cafes and restos varying from the native..to fine dining..and yet more are still opening...

jsl_bxu1206 January 25th, 2009, 09:36 AM Daghan advantages kung company owned. Mas daghan benefits and mas dako sweldo. For the operation side, no problems with ordering or with finances kung sa company coz ihatag lang na sa company. All we have to do is liquidate lang all expenses and take care of our net income. ang franchise is bayran gyud tanan orders before i-deliver. The only diadvantage kung company owned ka kay ang employees pwede lang ilabay bisan asa nga company owned store, naa mi reshuffling whereas ang franchise pwede lang ka stay-put sa imong store until mo-resign ka. Yep, JB Surigao is doing great!
