well, according to sources, her camp is NO longer keen of seeking Butuan's top post

Wow! naa ba ta source ani Bob.. kay what is naa na sad mo react lagi.. basta mo ingon ta ug one of the ____ in mindanao...:bash::bash:

NO such local law exists that limits heights of structures....however it is not allowed near Bancasi due to the presence of the airport...

Butuan by the way hosts the tallest transmitter tower in Mindanao....the DXJM radio owned before by PACIFIC broadcasting Corp. in Villa Kanangga

But she's not a Butuanon, she's a Cabadbaranon right? Naa nuon siya balay dinha sa Libertad along Diversion road.

Ila man gud gihimo og example ang Onghoc Bldg. Basin dili ra gyud firm ang foundation sa Onghoc.

OngHoc Building did not use pile driven technology as compared to BAyantel Bldg. and that defunct Carl Patrick's Hotel...

future big buildings that may rise in the city will be definitely employing this technique to offset the city's alluvial soil setting

correct...her transfer of residence to Libertad (BXU's largest barangay) theys say was actually a political move prior to her candidacy as mayor last 2007...her camp alledgedly dole-out 500 to 1000 to buy votes....the highest among the candidates daw...but her camp forgot that they are running in a city and not in a provincial municipality....the big dole-out her camp gave was not a sold out..and so her bid to claim Butuan became a complete failure

I think future buildings in BXU will be more of sprawl rather than tall....Butuan have plenty of relatively cheap lands to allow building vast sprawling structures...unlike in cities with limited land and exorbitant land values where going up is their only option..

Butuan City midawat ug award sa gipahigayong PASADA sa CSC

by Malou C. Furia

Butuan City (February 9) -- Nakadawat na usab ang Butuan City Government sa PASADA award karon tuig 2008 pinaagi sa buhatan sa Civil Registrar's Office nga gidumala ni Ms. Judith Alviso Calo na maoy personal nga midawat sa award gikan kang Director Adams Torres, Civil Service Commission (CSC) Caraga Regional Director nga girepresenta ni Ms. Jeniferr Perez, Chief, Personal Specialist, Policies and Systems Evaluation Division atol sa flag raising ceremony karong buntag sa city hall grounds, ning dakbayan. Ang maong buhatan adunay rata nga "Very Good Rating or 4" samtang ang pinakataas nga grado ang 5.

(PIO-Butuan City/PIA-Caraga)

I think that is very possible considering that they're really doing good business here. By the way, how true nga nagsoil testing na daw ang Robinsons last Nov.?

I have not heard myself regarding soil test sa Robinson's property....as far as I know regarding soil tests, was that of the Fly-Over Project sa Aquino-Montilla last 3rd week of December 08

They're not the supplier if that's the case. Sila lang moluto sa buns. Nindot diay na nga bakeshop coz sila man nakakuha sa bidding for JB.

I think they are the local supplier of buns sa Jollibugs here in BXU if I am not mistaken

Mindanao Jordanian arrested in Butuan for alleged bribery

MANILA, Philippines — A Jordanian man has been charged with bribery for allegedly trying to pay police in the southern city of Butuan in exchange for the release of a suspected drug pusher, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday.

In a press statement, the PNP office in the Caraga Region identified the Jordanian as Mohammad Magaed al Azzam, who is married to a Filipina and residing at 1st Street Guingona Subdivision, Butuan City.

Senior Inspector Nelly Tabornal Villagarcia, public information officer of the Caraga PNP, said Al Azzam was arrested during an entrapment operation as he allegedly tried to hand over the bribe money to a PNP operative. The date of arrest was not given.

Villagarcia said Supt. Francisco D. Dungo Jr., chief of the Butuan City Police Station 1, ordered the entrapment operation after Al Azzam came to his office and tried to negotiate for the immediate release of suspect Candi Pananggilaan, offering P 50,000 in exchange for the dropping of charges against the suspect.

Pananggilaan, 52, with postal address at P-8 Brangay San Ignacio in Butuan was arrested on Jan. 8 by the Butuan police during a drug buy-bust operation.

Mao ba... but for me dili nice ang lugar para sa McDo... asa kaha dapit ang McDo any idea?

hi pipol! good afternoon or good day or evening (wherever you are on Earth!hehe!).

i have info regarding the 2nd Mcdo store. i leave to u the judgment whether you'll consider it realiable or not.i happened to ask, few days back, the "manang" managing the small burger stand situated right on the same place we thought the 2nd McDo will be established (J C Aquino cor Montilla Blvd, beside MJ Santos Santos). She said it's positive. Her "amo" (of the burger stand) who happened to be the owner of the same lot informed them already last November that they should get prepared to transfer to another location. Her amo proposed that they transfer their burger stand somewhere near Embassy Hotel (not bar!!!hehe!) but "manang" insisted it's better if they stay near MJ Santos. The owner of the lot occupied by the present burger stand and soon to be McDo's place is also the owner of MJ Santos Hospital.

Im looking forward really for the realization of this plan. Jollibee on one side and McDo on the other. Butuan, everdyday, indeed is becoming cosmopolitan, urban and occidental in every inch.

One important requirement for a city hood I think that they fell short is the income.

AGUSAN NORTE MINING
Posted by: "Narciso Ner" boyner007@yahoo. com
Sun Feb 8, 2009 8:26 pm (PST)

Now read this: Taken from Malaya column of Lito Banayo

In the province of Agusan del Norte, a controversy arose because years back, the young governor of the province issued mining permits to a few "small" miners. Under the law, "small" miners are supposed to be the pick and shovel types, or gold-panners doing their thing in streams and rivers.

But the "small" miners brought in backhoes and bulldozers and soon, they had carved out the hillsides of the small town of Tubay. With them were Chinese mining engineers who had entered into a deal with a former congressman of a benighted city in Metro Manila, and his business partner. These guys were in cahoots with the incumbent congressman of the second district of the province, whose son, as the lay of our politics goes, is the young governor.

The DENR was helpless. The Bureau of Mines director sent memo after memo to the head office, reporting gross violations of mining and environmental laws. They all went unheeded. In time, the "small" miners had shipped 36 shiploads of Tubay’s nickel and chromite, interspersed with laterite which contained low-grade iron. In time also, the mining magnate and his former congressman- partner were zooming in and out of Butuan City’s airport in a sleek new Citation jet. And the suddenly extremely wealthy incumbent congressman of the second district set his family’s political sights on the territory of his political foe. Which enraged the latter, and in 2007, it was a battle between the mining Amantes and the logging Plazas.

The incumbent mayor of Butuan City, Democrito "Boy Daku" Plaza was challenged by the daughter of Edelmiro Amante, the dusky Angel who eschewed re-election as congresswoman and returned the seat to her father. She almost won. Votes in the city were being bought at a thousand pesos, the highest in Agusan’s miserable history of vote-buying. Boy Daku Plaza was overwhelmed, saved only by farmers in the outlying barangays whom he had helped in the recent past. Valentina Plaza, for such a long time the governor of Agusan del Sur and Dona Gloria’s favorite, decided to challenge the incumbent governor of Agusan del Norte, Edelmiro’s son Erlpe, the guy who issued the lucrative "small" mining permits. She was out-bought. For the first time in their wretched lives, people of the province held "blue" peso bills on election day, thanks to the munificence of Edelmiro and his mining friends.

The bishop of the two provinces, Juan de Dios Pueblos, along with environmental NGO’s, raised a howl against the operations of Edelmiro’s miners, but the DENR under Angelo Reyes paid no heed. In time, DENR issued a mining permit and the company no longer had to rely on the "small" miners’ local government-issued paper.

When Doña Gloria recently paid visit to the benighted province with DENR’s Lito Atienza in tow, Mayor Boy Daku brought up the pesky issue of the "small" miners turned large and now "legit." His president turned to her secretary for an explanation. The secretary whispered the explanation. Now guess what happened next?

Doña Gloria tells Boy Daku, as the whispers in Butuan’s small society goes, "Mayor, why don’t you just look for a mining site, and I will instruct Lito Atienza to give you a permit, quickly?"

The laws have been broken, the laws have been disregarded. Instead of penalty and closure, the Boss Woman tries to "bribe" the mayor by further destroying the environment.

Of course, Edelmiro Amante, who along with FVR and JDV and a handful of others, established Lakas out of half-a-rib off Monching Mitra’s LDP, has turned Kampi. But beyond that, no one in the benighted Agusan provinces believes that becoming Kampi is all that Edelmiro did for his partners to be able to ship almost a billion dollars worth of mineral ore to China over the last three years.
See why there is no law? Why everything is breaking down?

I'm wondering why wa man lang ni gi news sa atong local ABS-CBN when I think 2 yrs ago gibalita ma ni. Possibly Robinsons could also be doing the same thing without anyone knowing? Basi ma surprise na lang ta....How I wish!!

its a marketing strategy....Gensan was also caught by "surprise"....like BXU, it was before a long time land bank property...no one exactly know when construction would begin not until on the exact day the contractors cleared the area and fenced it for the construction :)

what's good about the people in Cebu is that they are very enterprising and very resilient...while most Pinoys define economic prosperity as seeking a good employment...early Cebuanos went heavily to trading and opening entrepreneurial ventures...they don't rely much on land which is not that good for farming....the frequent typhoons who visited the island have impressed a sense of frugality yet bold enough to seek better opportunities ahead....as a result, Cebu controls the domestic shipping industry of the Philipines and have contributed significantly in the development of cities near it including Butuan in its trade...

more importantly, Cebuanos do not rely on their politicos...not even on the politicos in Manila...they just rely on themselves and their working hands :)
