When I was @ BXU..i saw an ads/ poster @ thier main branch @ ad curato..shown 2 the poster was that they are on hiring mode kay mag open daw cla og branch sa G MALL..but sad to note na koisk lang ngayon ang na put up..anway 2007 pa yun na ads..

Actually, Chowking wanted to put a branch in Gaisano. Kaya lang ang space suggested to them is on the second level duol daw sa foodcourt. But since Chowking wanted to be located at the ground floor they have to contend instead with a kiosk nalang because of unavailable space. Sayang lagi kaayu. Gaisano should have at least done something about this. Dapat unta kanang Dickies and Napoleon atbang sa Jonies gi transfer nalang unta nila sa second floor to make way for Chowking...tsk..tsk..:ohno:

Bitaw no dpat ang Gmall Management will come up a good plans... pero dili sad pede ibalhin ang food court sa basement kay naa baya diha ang cinemas.. so dapat mag uban aron on or before mag cine naa makaon kaon...hahahahaha kiosk is not bad.. but to think chowking is dili basta basta man gud..so dapat better put huge branch (2storeys) either inside or outside Gmall....:cheers:

maximized na gyud kaayo ang mall space nila..one way to go is to etend their mall to that parking area at the back...they can put a 3 level building there..with the parking still intact but on the first level..the upper floors will be for more leasble space...I think this is the way Mr. Stephen Gaisano should do inorder to have a competitive leverage once that Robinson's Place Butuan operates..

the only factor which favor GMall is that they are nearer the fastest growing center of the city today (Jorge Rosales Ave-- Jose Aquino Ave. intersection)....for Robinson's...they are within the city's most populated barangay with the highest density of residential subdivisions all around it...

there was a mention before...but I think that remains a myth up to now...no archeological nor circumstantial evidences yet exist that ancient trade links exists between Butuan to either Mesopotamian or Babylonian civilizations....I think only Persian contacts..by way of India..

yup...very strict na ila security....I also hope na strict pud tana sa mga Red Plated cars...especially after official hours...I just spotted recently a vehicle bearing the red plates from the municipality of Placer and sometime ago from Trento ...and it was on a sunday !!....these government cars are being used privately for personal convenience...they too should not be allowed on off official transactions on sundays or government holidays

Police hold security training for journalists in Northeastern Mindanao

RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City, April 19 (PNA) - The Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) will hold a one-day seminar on security and preventive measures for members of the tri-media at the regional headquarters here on Tuesday.

PRO 13 Public Information Office invited several working journalists from different news agencies, print, broadcast and TV to attend the seminar.

Chief Supt. Jaime E. Milla, Northern Mindanao police chief, said the seminar was part of efforts initiated by the Philippine National Police to train members of media on security consciousness and threat awareness upon orders of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Butuan – The Police Regional Office 13 conducted training on Security and Preventive Measure of Media Personality designed in giving awareness in protecting oneself when in danger, as tri-media faced high risk of vulnerability to all types of threats especially those hard hitting commentators.

Radio remains as one of the most effective means of reaching Filipinos today. This confirmed a study conducted by the National Statistics Office and the then Department of Education, Culture, and Sports now Dep Ed that said, radio posted the highest proportion of exposure among the forms of mass media (television, video, comics, magazine, newspaper, and books).

Police Senior Supt. Nestor Fajura, Chief of the Operations and Plans Division of PRO 13 gave insights how to detect threat and avoid being a victim of media killings, whether it be a political harassment or any other form that pose danger to the life of certain media.

Media personalities are a common target, and counter surveillance is often a neglected part of close protection training. Participants were taught what to look out for and how to lay traps to confirm any suspicions by designing and implementing counter surveillance routes.img_1634

Aside from threat detection, counter surveillance, and personal security, media personalities also underwent gun safety seminar and did some actual firing at the the Philippine Armu firing range in Bancasi, Butuan City.

Data from the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility of the University of the Philippines revealed, Calabarzon posted the highest media killing incidents at 18.5 percent in the entire country, from 2001 to present, wherein, 30 journalists have been killed in the line of duty, while 20 were killed for reasons not connected with their work.

In the whole of Mindanao, Region 11-Davao obtains the highest incidents posted at 11.1 percent compared to only 3.7 percent in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Soccsargen, and Caraga Region.

Butuan(April 21, 2009) – A group of teenagers doing bicycle stunts executing different styles at the provincial capitol here in Butuan City. They might not be professionals but what they do on Sundays gave them the opportunity to show off their prowess with their old bikes. Families who came here often enjoyed watching these boys, especially kids who might after all become one of them in the future, better than taking illegal drugs or be with those rugby boys we see in streets.

Bonbon Shell Midden Declared #6 of the 7 Historical Site Destinations

In archaeology, the term shell midden analysis refers to the study of marine shell valves that were once used as food by prehistoric peoples. Once the meat was extracted, the remaining shells were sometimes used to make ornaments such as beads or carved into fishhooks. However, most of the shell was simply thrown away as waste. It was not uncommon for prehistoric peoples to discard unwanted refuse at centralized trash sites. Over many hundreds of years, shell refuse and soil would build up at these trash sites, resulting in the formation of mounds on what was once level ground.

Discovered in Sitio Tuway, Barangay Bonbon is a mound of shells running up to two meters deep occupying an area of about half a hectare and what is now an additional historical site, named as “Bonbon Shell Midden”

The materials found in the site underwent radiocarbon dating analysis in Japan. But National Museum archaeologists who made an in-depth study of the site in February 2009 have its prognosis that the materials go back to late Stone Age. That effectively pushes back in time the cultural chronology of Butuan’s early settlement, and eventually alters data on Philippine history.

Aside from freshwater and brackish shells, the excavations yielded stone flake tools that bore traces of human interventions, including deposits of human and animal bones. At the moment, two human tibiae (long bones of the arms) and parts of the hand are in Japan for C-14 analysis.

At present, Sangguniang Panglunsod Committee on Tourism Chairman, Councillor Ramon Carampatana proposed that funds shall be allocated to preserve the area and protect it from possible mutilation. Initially, Councillor Carampatana had it fenced and placed a temporary shelter.

NAFC Team Validates Hard Infra Projects in Caraga Region
April 21, 2009

Butuan City- To ensure transparency of government projects implemented under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture, an eight (8) member team from National Agricultural and Fishery Council (NAFC) conducted a one week validation and monitoring here in Caraga Region last April 13-18, 2009.

Focus of the validation was the hard infrastructure projects such as Farm to Market Roads (FMR) and Irrigations with funding source from DA and either implemented by the said office or downloaded to other agency such as National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) or the provincial and municipal local government units.

The eight member team was divided into four sub-teams with two members each to cover four identified cluster areas within the region.

The first team validated mainland Surigao del Norte and some parts of Surigao del Sur areas covering the towns of Alegria, Tubod, Sison, Placer, Bacuag, Gigaquit, Claver, Carrascal, Lanuza and the cities of Tandag and Surigao.

The second team validated Agusan del Norte areas covering the towns of Kitcharao, Jabonga, Santiago, Las Nieves, Carmen, Nasipit, Buenavista and the cities of Butuan and Cabadbaran while the third team validated Siargao Island and some parts of mainland Surigao del Norte covering the areas of General Luna, Pilar, San Isidro, San Benito, Burgos, Sta. Monica, San Francisco and Malimono.

The fourth team validated Surigao del Sur areas covering the towns of Hinatuan, Lingig, Tagbina, Barobo, San Agustin, Marihatag, and Tago.

Each team was accompanied in the area by its local counterparts from DA RFU 13, DPWH, NIA, representative from respective LGUs and Agricultural Fishery Councils (AFCs) while the new Caraga Coordinator of Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) Claire Bacatiu accompanied the team 3.

During the exit conference, all data gathered were consolidated and showed that generally all projects were put in place.

Regional Executive Director Ricardo C. Regis welcomes the validation team and viewed it positively not as fault finder but to look into some rooms for improvements.

The national validation team expressed an appreciation to the coordination effort extended by DA RFU 13 through Regional Agriculture Engineering Division (RAED) head by its division chief Engr. Rene Morales.

The said activity is part of the leg of project validation in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

It is sad to note that while the team conducted its mandate here in Caraga Region, the Regional Executive Director of Region 2 and at the same time Undersecretary for Monitoring Gumersindo Lasam, was killed in an ambush by still unidentiied men in Solana, Cagayan Valley Tuesday morning.

when i was in college, we sometimes used capitol as our meeting place for sports... i was part of volleyball players sa IT department, mag practise me sa capitol and one time we saw hiphop dancers sa capitol parang ginawa nilang meeting place but then para na syang spot sa mga tao kay makalingaw man sad...

They might not be professionals but what they do on Sundays gave them the opportunity to show off their prowess with their old bikes. me too, everytime I go to manila, I make sure I drop by Uraya to buy some durian preserves for my manila peeps...

hassle na man gud ang real fruit coz you need to wrap them and put them in a box for it to be conveyed by the airlines

hing nindot na sya karon kay ang uban building gi repaint na... and uniform nasad ang mga trikes so dili gubot tan awon.... plastar baya ang downtown sa BXU kay by block jud sila...

regarding the growing number of vehicles and parking problem in the city's inner streets...hopefully the city will build elevated parking spaces...to free the downtown streets from congestion due to parkings..

they can charge a parking fee with the use of these facilities...complete with security and other value added feautures for motorists..

its difficult looking for a place to park especially on peak hours

that was long time ago Bert. Malabo pa ang Restaurant management courses.. NORMISIST focuses on the Technical courses like engineering and IT. I've heard that Civil, Mechanical will be added soon. Businesses like Accounting, Management not sure of if they will add but AB Law will soon be added also...

so what's the purpose na maghimo cla og hotel?..booming bja ang hospitality sector..needed ang daghang manpower.

ambot lang sad lagi kay to think nga State college baya ang NORMISIST murag sa akong opinion dili need kaayo ang hotel management courses... when I left NORMISIST nag open sad sila og tourism courses and inline with this i tink MasCom sad para sa mga BPO sectors... daghan smart students sa NORMISIST oi... kadtong mga banggiitan I would say na dili ka afford sa tuition naa diha nag school..pahilom hilom ra sila...

I agree. kana gyung multi level parking need na kaayu in BXU. It's not only during peak hours bob. It seems like the vehicles are just parked there from 8am till 8pm. Murag wala nay hawa-hawa ang sakyanan. Basta, after 8 am, maswerte nalang if you can still find a space to park even in Langihan area. Once naka park naka, and you forgot something from your house, just leave your car and mag commute ka nalang kay kung muhawa pa ka, nah, pila kaha ka sakyanan mag ilog sa imong space...hahaha.

Regarding the fly-over (Aquino-Montilla)..the LGU of Butuan together with the congressional ofice of Rep. Aquino have manifested their intention of re- alligning the fund to that of BXU-Bukidnon Road...now they await decision from DPWH and ate Glo since its a nationally funded project...

To be perfectly honest, mas nice gyud unta nga matagaan ug priority ang FLYOVER para maka add pud sa physical structure sa city. Butuan deserves this kind of project. Correct me if I'm wrong, Kung palabyon ni nga chance, do you think naa pay next time? City Council's nod on lottery sparks controversy in Butuan PDF Print E-mail

BUTUAN CITY (MindaNews/22 Apr) -- A “no objection” resolution allowing the operation of a state-run small town lottery (STL) drew varied reactions here as it was approved by the city council without a public consultation to determine the people’s sentiments on the issue.
“Not every thing legal is moral,” Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos said in reaction to the resolution expressing "no objection" to the lottery of the Philippines Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO).

Pueblos said in an interview that the entry of gambling should not be left for the legislators alone to decide but must undergo a “wider grassroots consultation” because the people are the ones to be affected.

“Whether we like it or not, STL is still gambling in itself. We cannot earn livelihood through gambling,” Pueblos warned as he explained that the principle of gambling is “you gamble only with your extra money.”

The city council’s committee on laws chaired by Councilor Audie Bernabe recommended the resolution’s approval. Only one voted against it during the floor deliberation during the council’s regular session.

Lawyer Lawrence Fortun, an opposition councilor, said the resolution did not reflect the sentiment of the people. He pointed out that the only the way to ascertain that sentiment is through a public consultation which in this case was not done.

“I vigorously objected since it did not pass a public hearing,” Fortun told MindaNews, complaining that his colleagues apparently employed short cut methods in passing the resolution. “My objection was ignored. They have the numbers,” he added.

Efforts to contact Bernabe, author of the resolution, proved futile. But Councilor Salvador Calo, chair of the city council’s committee on public safety, said there’s no need for a public consultation since the resolution is only expressing “no objection” to the operation of STL, not the approval of a franchise to operate in the city.

Calo said a franchise holder cannot operate the STL in the city without securing the approval of the Philippines Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO) in Manila.

“It is not like a tax ordinance that needs a committee hearing,” said Calo in a radio interview, adding that the tax to be generated from STL operations would be used to fund the city’s social service and police operations.

Under Resolution 464 dated December 28, 2005 approved by the PCSO board, a franchise holder of STL must have a minimum capital stock of P20 million of which at least P5 million should be paid up.

After receiving approval from the PCSO, the authorized corporation is required to deposit a P10-million cash bond to the agency’s treasury department within 15 days.

Aside from requiring the company to submit government-imposed documents such as tax clearance and registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the applicant must also present a comprehensive curriculum vitae of its officials “showing their qualifications, integrity and experience.”

Carlito Kho, PCSO’s regional manager for Mindanao, said his office will only coordinate with a franchise holder for their operation after getting its approval from the PCSO’s head office in Manila. He agreed that before approving the operation of an STL, a public consultation will have to be conducted.

Kho, whose office is based here, said the STL is a two-ball draw and to be performed in public viewing. Other state-sanctioned gambling now operating in Butuan City includes lotto, bingo and sweepstakes. (Alden Pantaleon / MindaNews)

San Luis, Agusan del Sur – After five long years of fighting side-by-side with the New People’s Army (NPA), who promised them protection, a Lumad tribal chieftain has called it quits and accused the NPA of engaging an alleged systematic “tong” collection amounting to millions of pesos from illegal loggers intruding into their ancestral lands.

“Naisipan na naming huminto kasi ‘di naman totoo ‘yung sinabi ng NPA na tutulungan nila kaming protektahan ang aming ancestral domain (We thought of quitting because it was not true that the NPA will help us guard our ancestral domain),” an angry Datu Benhur, the 45-year-old Banuaon tribal leader, said after he and his followers surrendered to avail of the Social Integration Program (SIP) of the government.

As this developed, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Avelino I. Razon Jr. lauded the fearless action of Datu Benhur and his men as another clear manifestation that the NPA is nothing more than engaging in nefarious activities for self aggrandizement.

Razon said the SIP managed and supervised by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) is designed to help former rebels acquire livelihood as they are reintegrated into the mainstream of society.

The SIP which was launched only last year, has attracted about 800 NPA rebels who laid down their arms further depleting the fighting force of the communist movement in the country, Razon said.

Guys, finally, tomorrow na ang PINOY BIG BROTHER. At least 6,000 are expected to audition daw. According to the ABS CBN BXU news kanina, 30 policemen and 30 security guards will be deployed within the vicinity of the Urios Gymn. There will also be Re-routing of traffic flow.

Morning pa lang daw ganina, naa nay nakapila. One was interviewed this afternoon and she said she came from Misamis pa. She wanted to be among the first to be in line. Ugma pa man ang PBB Audition, where will these people sleep? I'm sure di man gyud sila muhawa sa pila :ohno:

that was long time ago Bert. Malabo pa ang Restaurant management courses.. NORMISIST focuses on the Technical courses like engineering and IT. I've heard that Civil, Mechanical will be added soon. Businesses like Accounting, Management not sure of if they will add but AB Law will soon be added also...

NORMISIST-Cabadbaran already offered Tourism Related courses as early as 2006. They offer Bachelor in Tourism Technology, Bachelor in Food & Beverage Management, Bachelor in Food Technology among others.

Butuan – Of the 20 pretty Butuanon ladies who undergo final screening last April 4, the lucky 10 were finally chosen and became the official candidates for the Mutya Hong Butuan 2009. Just this week the candidates attended photo sessions and trainings on Speech Development and Table Etiquettes, and for the first time, the candidates receive Health Awareness Lecture with Dr. RJ Villanueva, sponsored by Butuan DOTS Clinic as part of the World TB Day. The ladies were lectured about TB Awareness, Fitness Enhancement and Sex Education.

On Friday April 17, the Mutya Hong Butuan 10-official candidates will be presented to the local media and a press conference will follow.

Mutya Hong Butuan beauty pageant is just one of the many activities lined up for the month long celebration of the Balangay (pronounced as ba-lang-hay) Festival in May.

The 10 Pretty Faces will be seen for the first in public during the opening ceremony of the Balangay festival on May 1 at the Rizal Park after the motorcade, and to be officially introduced on May 2 during the Mutya Presentation Night at FSUU Gym.

The coronation night is scheduled on May 17.

PBB is a REALITY SHOW regj. Those who will be chosen among those who auditioned will become BIG BROTHER'S HOUSEMATE for 3 months. During their stay in the PBB house, they will be monitored by cameras 24 hours.

The number of those who auditioned ganina was estimated to be about 30,000 from Bxu and from neighboring cities and Towns. Grabe kadaghan
gyud. I have a niece nga nakuha...hehehe. Gipabalik siya ganina 3pm siguro for another round of interview. Na excited na nuon ko.
