Siguro because her computer was already being attacked bythat virus before she noticed nga naa diay virus ilahang comp after I told ate bunns to do a full scan. Then she did menion nga she's experiencing sudden shut-offs every 30 minutes and I told her nga makadaot ang sudden shut-offs. So, probably, bumigay na ang system ni ate bunns because of the unstoppable virus which forced her to rush their pc to the computer shop. Tana maayo na ilahang computer aron maka-online napod siya.

GSIS spurs local economy in Butuan; lends P178.36-M from Jan-May '09

Butuan City (June 29) -- The Government Service Insurance System has disbursed a total of P178.36 million loans to its members and pensioners covered by the Butuan regional office during the first five months of the year, as the pension fund continues to fuel the local economy here through its various loan products despite the problems posed by the defective IBM-DB2 database management software.

Of the said amount, P163.58 million in proceeds came from loans applied through the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (G-W@PS) kiosk.

Among the loan products that are available through the G-W@PS include the Consolidated Loan (ConsoLoan), the P10,000-Cash Advance Plus (eCAP), Emergency Loan, Optional Policy Loan, and Policy Loan.

The ConsoLoan provided the biggest amount of proceeds during the period at P143.42 million.

On the other hand, P14.77 million in proceeds came from loans applied over the counter (OTC).

Among the loan products available through OTC include ConsoLoan, Optional Policy Loan, Policy Loan, and Pension Loan.

Pension Loan generated the biggest amount of proceeds at P8.98 million.

GSIS President and General Manager Winston F. Garcia said through the loans it disburses to its members and pensioners, the pension fund helps fuel economic growth in the region, either directly or indirectly.

"When our members apply for loans, they usually use the money either for big purchases, to pay for another loan or to start a business. Whichever the case may be, the money eventually finds itself back to the market," he said.

Mr. Garcia added that the pension fund continues to provide service to its members and pensioners in Butuan despite the adverse effects of the defective IBM-DB2 software to the GSIS's operations.

"Despite the still unresolved problem in our system brought about by the faulty database management software of IBM Corp., we are not allowing the situation derail the delivery of our service to our stakeholders," he said.

Even at the onset of the DB2-induced system crashes in March, the GSIS never ceased disbursing monthly pension benefits to its pensioners through their eCard Plus. In addition, the G-W@PS kiosks continue to facilitate the enrollment and activation of eCards.

Loan applications may be done over-the-counter during the times the kiosks are down although admittedly processing of loans will still take some time.

In the meantime, Mr. Garcia assures all GSIS members and pensioners that the integrity of all membership data has not been compromised and no data is lost. For every step of a process, records are preserved and kept in perpetual storage.

Last June 3, the GSIS filed a civil case against IBM Corp., IBM Philippines, and IBM business partner Questronix Corp. as it asked the court to order these companies to pay the GSIS P100 million in damages.

The 18-page complaint filed before the Pasay Regional Trial Court was an action for tort and breach of contract to hold the defendants liable for the damage caused by the defective software it licensed to the GSIS.

Tort law defines what constitutes a legal injury and establishes the circumstances under which one may be held liable for another's injury.

The case stemmed from IBM's database management software, called the IBM DB2, whose defect resulted in intermittent crashes in the GSIS system that paralyzed its operations.

Meanwhile, the GSIS Butuan Regional Office has processed P85.56 million in retirement claims for January to May; P.7.65 million for survivorship claims; P21.84 million for regular life claims; and P3.99 million for optional life claims.

As of end-May 2009, the GSIS Butuan Regional Office, which has under its jurisdiction the Surigao and Tandag branch offices, covers a total of 20,814 active members, 4,626 old-age and survivorship pensioners, and 239 agencies. (GSIS-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)

DENR represented by Regional Executive Director Edilberto S.Buiser gave the plaque of recognition to Bishop Pueblos in a simple program fitting for the Bishop's Pre Episcopal Silver Anniversary celebration held at the Bishop's Palace in Barangay Ampayon, this city on June 23,2009.

Director Buiser said the DENR family is very much grateful to Bishop Pueblos for his great contribution in the protection and preservation of environment since he took the mantle of leadership of the Caraga Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD) which is in line with the pursuit of DENR Secretary Lito Atienza to "protect the environment and our natural resources to the best that the laws intend."

One of the priorities of Secretary Atienza is to curb air pollution and replenish the forest cover even as he encouraged all sectors to do their share to solve the "biggest challenge that our environment and natural wealth are facing which is the climate change."

It has been the emphasis of Secretary Atienza to inform the public that the DENR is doing its best to contribute to the worldwide effort to mitigate the negative effects of climate change, whose destructive effects are likely to be felt in the country's long shorelines with the warming up of sea temperatures.

Director Buiser said the efforts made by Bishop Pueblos in holding forums as co-convenor of the CPPD is very effective which has somehow changed the lopsided - public perception of the DENR attributed to the "complex and interlocking socio-economic, political and environmental factors in Caraga region."

"Bishop Pueblos is very much active in mobilizing the members of the CCPD and other sectors in the region, particularly in drawing up strategies to mitigate climate change. The members of the CCPD also included the military sector, local government executives, leader of the different indigenous group, non-government organization, academe, government officials of the national government and many other private organizations.

He said Bishop Pueblos has a strong influence in promoting transparency thus, the DENR concerted efforts in pursuing its mission and mandate are appreciated by the stakeholders and the public in general. (DENR-13/PIA-Caraga)

Feature: 100% best for Aclan Potable Water Project

by Ronald M. Cuaresma and Gil E. Miranda

Agusan Del Norte (June 29) -- Aclan is a lowland barangay of Nasipit, in this province with a total agricultural land area of 209.25 hectares where coconut, rice and corn are its main products.

Composing of five (5) districts and is 9 kms. away from poblacion. It has a population of about 1,433 with 306 households averaging a size of five (5).

Mr. Rope Cabilan, chairman of the Aclan Water Spring Association (AWASA) humbly said, "The association gave its 100% best in trying to maintain and sustain the projects' service years for it's the only good source of drinking water in Aclan. We value this project so much for it's truly a dream come true". The Aclan Water Spring Association was organized on February 6, 2005 with 334 members. They regularly have their BOD meetings every 3rd Sunday of the month.

Years ago, life is much different because the residents have problems with regards to water accessibility. The place doesn't have a local water provider and the only source that is available for them is an old jetmatic pump which unfortunately produces unsafe water. Residents recalled that they have to exhaust all their patience before they could fill their pails and buckets because of the long queue that awaits them. Even during night time they have to fetch water just to have enough for the next day's needs. Some residents yet have to argue with others out of impatience and haste to move on with the long line.

"Since its turnover rites, everyday is a blessing for us and all those sad experiences are just but in the past" declared by a grateful resident. The much-needed project is in time with the growing barangay population.

The P3,327,610 M DAR-SPOTS Phase I Potable Water Project was turnover to the association on December 2006 which comprise an eight (8) PV module, one (1) Pump and Control set, One (1) 50 cubic meter tank, a 1000 m pipeline provision for distribution and totaling to 15 available tap stands in the area. The project is expected to benefit 306 households.

Optimist PARO Atega, the Provincial Head of DAR-Agusan del Norte, did all his best for the realization of this project in order to alleviate the lives of the people in CUCAMA ARC being one of the poorest barangay in the municipality of Nasipit. With high hopes, he also believed that it would strengthen the association thru the continued support of the local institution in accepting the challenge of projects' proper operation and maintenance.

The very dynamic barangay captain confessed that "sharing and teamwork were very much evident throughout the project implementation". The LGU committed for the projects realization, gave much of its time for the community to have a safe potable water system. The cooperative spirit of LGU together with the PO shared a total of P3, 019,610 as project equity and directly involving the community in the planning and maintenance thru a series of barangay work-shop-consultation and assemblies. Many of the residents conducted a "pahina" (voluntary work without pay) during the projects installation. In a way, every one is involved and there's that peoples sense of ownership of the project.

Lolita Empanado, the presently Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer of Nasipit reminded the association that as owners they should not stop learning ways in sustaining the water system much longer and should be bold enough to face challenges ahead of them. She further added that it's the government's way of showing the people of CUCAMA ARC its sincerity for the promise support services. The Nasipit LGU and the office of DAR are always there to give a hand to those who are showing genuine need for improvement. (DAR-Agusan del Norte/ PIA-Caraga)

DENR probe team fears destruction of Butuan watershed due to mining, logging
Monday, 29 June 2009

BUTUAN CITY (MindaNews/28 June) – An investigating team led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is worried that the unabated ongoing small-scale mining, logging and road construction activities in the Taguibo watershed forest reserve in Anticala village here would destroy the city’s source of water supply.

In its initial investigation report, the team noted that the ongoing road rehabilitation and widening activities in Taguibo watershed area have no environmental compliance certificate, road right-of-way permit, and free and prior informed consent from the tribal holders of Certificate of Ancestral Domain Claim No.178.

Small-scale manganese mining activities were earlier reported in hinterland areas in the boundaries of Barangay Anticala in Butuan and Barangay San Antonio in the neighboring municipality of Remedios T. Romualdez in Agusan del Norte.

But Mayor Democrito Plaza has denied that any individuals or groups have applied for mining operations in the area.

The investigating team led by Virgilio dela Cruz, DENR’s environment technical regional director, was dispatched to the area on May 26 to dig deeper on the alleged illegal activities such as mining, road construction and cutting of trees within Taguibo Watershed Forest Reserve in Anticala village.

Records at the city’s Community Environment and Natural Resources Office show that a total of 8,879.61 board feet of illegally-cut lumbers suspected coming from the Taguibo watershed area were seized and now under the office’s custody.

Edilberto Buiser, the DENR regional executive director, has organized a multi-sectoral team composed of representatives from the National Commission of Indigenous People, Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau, Environment Management Bureau, National Economic and Development Authority, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office, the city government’s Environment and Natural Resources Office, the city mayor’s office and the Catholic-led Caraga Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD) in response to the complaint of the Butuan City Water District on the alleged illegal activities in the watershed area.

Taguibo watershed is situated within the Sibagat Wawa Forest Reserve covered by Proclamation No. 308 dated September 3, 1954. It is also identified as one of the critical watershed areas in Caraga region.

The area, declared as forest reserve under Presidential ProclamationNo.1076 by former President Fidel V. Ramos on Sept. 4, 1997, is the major source of potable water distributed by the Butuan City Water District and of the irrigation facilities for the city’s farmlands.

Sources added that the highest portion of the watershed forms part of the Mt. Hilong-hilong Range, the region’s highest peak at 2,012 meters above sea level. It said that the range is also one of the key biodiversity areas within the Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor (EMBC).

Data at the DENR regional office shows that the Taguibo watershed covers a total area of 4,364 hectares for protection and conservation under the public domain of Butuan and municipalities of Remedios T. Romualdez and Cabadbaran in Agusan del Norte. It is also within the six ancestral domain claims. (Alden Pantaleon / MindaNews)

NORMISIST Successfully Hurdles University-hood at House and Senate
Written by Fides Joy A. Caduyac,NEDA Caraga
Wednesday, 13 May 2009

The Senate Committee on Education chaired by Senator Mar A. Roxas approved House Bill No. 5110 on May 24 on provision that the Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science and Technology (NORMISIST) obtains Level 3 accreditation from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered College and University in the Philippines (AACCUP), Incorporated.

The House Bill No. 5110, an Act Endorsing the Caraga State University in the Caraga Region by Integrating the Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science and Technology (NORMISIST) in Ampayon, Butuan City and the Northern Mindanao College of Arts, Science and Technology (NMCAST) in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte and Appropriating Funds Therefor, was filed in Congress by Congressional Representative Jose “Joboy” Aquino.
The NORMISIST has grown into a system with one satellite campus, the then NMCAST which is now known as the NORMISIST Cabadbaran Campus (NCC) by virtue of integration of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) supervised school. The NORMISIST and NMCAST/NCC have demonstrated their commitment to delivering quality instruction research and extension services per findings of the Commission on Higher Education. The actual evaluation was conducted by the national and regional CHED representatives, namely: Dr. Heracleo D. Lagrada, Director of the CHED-Office on Policies and Standard and Ms. Rita Sescar who comes from the same national office, and Engr. Ramil Sanchez of CHED-Caraga, on March 6.

The establishment of Caraga State University would facilitate effective response to the manpower requirements of the Region as it offers wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses within its areas of specialization.

NORMISIST has been applying for state university since 1996. With the collaborative and sustained efforts from three successive administrations, and congressmen, and through the unwavering support of the Regional Development Council, the state college has finally complied with all requirements for level 3 accreditation. The AACCUP accreditation is but a matter of time. The Region will finally have a state university.

Very quiet ang Philippine Normal University sa may prosperidad.... according to their website, correct me if im wrong, it is one and only campus in Mindanao.

Yes. PNU Agusan Campus is the only PNU Campus in Mindanao.
The Main Campus is surrounded by Taft Avenue, Ayala Boulevard, and San Marcelino in Manila.

Other PNU campuses are PNU Cadiz, PNU Isabela, PNU Quezon, including PNU Agusan.

When I went to Tandag last year, nilabay mi sa PNU in Prosperidad, ADS. Their campus was partially covered with trees and they have a hanging bridge to cross the river.

maunhan pa nuon tong naa sa surigao city mismo sa siargao... ngano man? pero ok lang at least its good for our region. cguro kulang pa ang ilang facilities and other stuff... Hope they will send professors to other school for PhD... same thing with NORMISIST-CSU did... pero basin diay Sir Rally, before end of this years or maybe next year.... para mo daghan na atong university sa Caraga. SJIT murag mo dagan pa ug pipila ka years but who knows... their another campus at Mun. of Buenavista for Maritime Academy Center is almost done... and move on to their next huge project; another campus will rise at Villa Kananga with their state-of-the-art coliseum. I know Madam Salas can afford to send this professors including my Prof. Amy to have PhD.

The Region will finally have a state university.

regjeex compare the two articles, Siargao National College of Science and Technology was mentioned on the first article dated July 3, 2007 but on second one dated May 13, 2009, not included na sija. the integration covers only the two campuses of NORMISIST in Ampayon and Cabadbaran.

as per information from a friend, that school in Siargao and malimono, Surigao del norte will be intergrated with Surigao State College of Technology to become a State University.

The Bill filed in 2007 for the creation of the Caraga State University includes the Siargao National College of Science and Technology(Del Carmen,Siargao) but the latest Bill filed will only comprrise of the NORMISIST Campuses.

If we read carefully the article, NORMISIST will only be converted to a university PROVIDED it will attain Level III Accreditation from AACCUP. This is what I mentioned in my earlier post. Until now the official result for the March 2009 AACCUP evaluation for NORMISIST is not yet released. If the school passed the evaluation, YEHEY naa na pod lain university sa BXU. Kung mabagsak, we have to wait sa sunod nga evaluation.

It is not that easy to comply the requirements for universityhood. In the past Level II Accreditation is enough, karon kinahanglan Level III Accreditation na. FSUU and SPU-S are Level II Accredited only same as NORMISIST right now.

Mura ug dili pa siguro madali pagkauniversity ang Surigao State College of Technology kay bag-o lang sila nag Level I. Tapos 3 years ang time frame para Level II and another 3 years for Level III. NORMISIST gained Level II Accreditation in 2005.

For the Level III Accreditation, 20% of the total number of Faculty Members should have the appropriate doctoral degrees and those teaching professional courses should also possess at least the appropriate masters degree. The passing percentage in board exams is also being given weight. The library should have the appropriate ratio of books/students. Even the seating capacity of the library has a ratio per student. Research publications of the faculty in reputable journals is very hard for many schools to comply. marami pang ibang requirements like community exrensions, physical facilities, student services, employability of graduates, etc.

The administration of NORMISIST under Dr. Ignacio took the bite in sending more than 20 faculty members to pursue PhD degrees in top universties, faculty members also published researches in National and International Journals, faculty members present research papers in National and International Conferences, state of the art facilities were procured, income generating projects were upgraded like the Philippine Carabao Center, etc.

With what had been done already, it will not be difficult for the present administration of Dr Cuenca to propell NORMISIST to university status.

Kanang Narra diha sa Libertad, branch ra diay na? Asa man diay ang main. I guess there is already a new building that rise in the area where the Old Narra is located.

My belief is that the entire Narra restaurant was transferred to that area in Libertad. Lami kaayo ang lomi diha paresan dayun ug garlic bread.

Narra Restaurant Main was relocated at Plaza's Plaza along Ochoa Avenue. Narra Restaurant in Libertad is just a Branch.

If we compare those two branches, the Narra Restaurant in Ochoa Avenue and the Narra Restaurant in Libertad along J.C.

Sa Libertad Branch you have an option, naay garden setting, naay secluded airconditioned area, naa alfresco (with a view of Mt Mayapay kung naa pay adlaw), etc. Ibaylo unta sa Narra ila Chef para mas molami ang sa Libertad. he he he:lol::lol:

Good Morning Butuan! How time flies...Wednesday na karon, July 1, 2009 pa jud! Hapit na akong birthday hehehe

If you pass by South Montilla Boulevard, you should notice the construction of CAFE CALIENTE, a coffee shop that has joint operations with Option One Auto Garage. Also, there could be a possible building under construction next to the Radyo Mindanao Network (RMN) DXBC building. I saw construction workers digging, and others making a parameter fence and walls. I don't know yet whether if its a commercial building or arcade, or residential building. Let's search for rumors of what will be constructed there.

Once these north and south bound terminals will be realized, the South Bound will be the terminal for buses bound for Davao City, Malaybalay, Tandag, Tagum, San Francisco, Prosperidad etc. while the North Bound will be for Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, Misamis Oriental, etc.

"Newtown

The Newtown, located in Baan Km.3, Tiniwisan, Lemon, Antongalon, and Ampayon is dominated by institutional and industrial facilities, and housing development, traversed by landscaped waterways.

Moving the area towards its envisioned destiny, we have exciting ongoing projects that include the 148 million D.O.P Regional Center and the now fully-operational 100 million Butuan Medical Center.

In addition, there is more activity in existing neighborhoods underway, with the proposed conversion of Normisist to the University of Caraga, operation of the industrial plants for oil processing, prawn processing, dressing plants and banana chips factory.

At present, we have Pepsi and Coca-Cola warehouses, that we expect to locate a plant in this area soon.

We see prospects for the Newtown Area improve dramatically, with our dream of building the 12,000 seater City Coliseum, a striking combination of business, entertainment, and gathering space to serve the people of Butuan, in the next 20 years and beyond.

Because of the Coliseum’s strategic presence in the Newtown District, we anticipate a bustling locality,
in that area in near future, especially with the Initial Resettlement Area in Tiniwisan, the Lopez-Habitat and city government subdivisions in Amamaylan, Baan Km. 3, Ampayon, and Taguibo, and the establishment of the FILINVEST Homes, that will serve the high-end clientele.

Uptown

There is an upbeat tempo in our emerging uptown area, which serves as an alternate central business district, combined with leisure facilities and some institutional, commercial, residential and industrial locators.
It is situated in Bancasi, Libertad and Bonbon

With its uphill location, our building of concrete circumferential roads, is seen as the district’s jumpstarting factor for growth, encouraging the flourishing of amenities, that are now sources of anticipation.

Added to which, we can look forward to the 644 million Airport expansion, that will enable us to serve the increasing influx of passengers.

As of now, we have 3 regular daily flights during Tuesday to Thursday, and 4 during Monday, Friday Saturday and Sunday, in the Butuan-Manila route. We also have daily flights to Cebu with a total of 6 flights on Mondays and Fridays. . .

These are all indicators that our progress is unstoppable. For as long as we are your servants, our quest for progress will continue."

There are so many buses everyday.. we can compare our bus terminal to an international airport, every minute a bus, or buses arrives in Butuan, fully loaded with passengers, and then after a few minutes, another bus, or buses will depart. We can also compare the length of our buses to aircraft, naa tay putot nga bachelor so Airbus A319, sunod naa pud tay medium nga bus so Airbus A320, naa pod taas-taas so Airbus A330 or A340, naa dayon tay King Long, so Airbus A380..

hahahahaha.. ligid sa ko tungod sa akong WILD imaginations hahahaha

I just hope that the new terminal would look more than the picture above...^^ similar to an international airport

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Four top officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Caraga Region are now in hot waters after management of the Butuan City Water District head Eng. Anselmo Sangtian filed negligence, grave misconduct and unjustifiable refusal to perform duties against regional executive director Edilberto Buiser, Butuan City community environment and natural resources officer Achilles Ebron, Cabadbaran CENRO Raul Rosales and Agusan del Norte PENRO Rosendo Asunto.

The watershed area which covers some 4,300 hectares located at Barangay Anticala this city that extended up to two towns of Agusan del Norte, Cabadbaran and RTR, was declared by the national government as extremely protected areas, hence, no cutting of trees much more mining activities even small-scale mining is allowed.

It is the only source of potable water supply to some 300,000 residents of Butuan City and nearby environs, said Sangtian.

In its four-page complaint affidavit dated March 3, 2009 filed before the Office of the Ombudsman Mindanao in Davao City, the water firm complained that DENR officials failed to make any investigation and/or verification including naming names of the perpetrators who brought heavy equipment, logging and hauling trucks to the highly protected watershed area.

A group of selected newsmen and community leaders mostly members of the Association of Barangay Captains of Butuan City who went on ocular inspection in the area have witnessed traces of environment destructions.

Local residents and barangay officials when interviewed opted to remain silent as to the identities of the perpetrators claiming that financers of illegal logging and mining activities here are allegedly well-heeled and some are alleged to be local politicians.

The Butuan City Water District in its complaint said that despite many complaint letters officially received by the Office of the DENR Regional Executive Director and despite many meetings and conferences designed to address the problem, still no investigation or verifications were done.

The water firm claimed they have complete and concrete evidences which were all submitted to the DENR copy furnished the City Government of Butuan that indeed rampant illegal logging and mining activities are being conducted inside the watershed areas.

But the same, complaint affidavit, with complete copy and photos, were not officially acted upon, perpetrators not identified and prosecuted as no filing of cases were filed and worst such illegal activities continued.

The complaint affidavit said that apart from illegal logging and mining, activities of illegal construction of roads are also being done in the protected watershed area which cuts and traverses in the only source of potable water supply of Butuan.

Evidences of said illegal construction of road activities were also submitted to the DENR and Butuan City Government sometime in April 2008.

The last photos of illegal activities done inside said watershed area was taken by inspecting BCWD workers on Feb. 22, 2009 and others just recently when they caught huge stockpile of illegally cut hardwood species found at the middle of the watershed area.

The Region will finally have a state university.

in addition to the information...it just happened that i encountered a senior student from NORMISIST On my way to surigao..I inquired about the state college status for university conversion..its positive daw.waiting na lang for formal declaration..fROM CHED..

As I have said, hisgut hsigut ra ning ako. I dont have to explain myself. Kung masuko ang uban, unsaon ta man. No doubt Butuan is moving forward. But as you go forward there are pitfalls and lessons to be learned. Thats part and parcel of progress. Or I should say its an accompanying price.

Kanang uban nga masuko depende na na sa mga members sa thread. I know I cannot expect all members to understand but I defer to the better judgment of the mature ones like you to moderate and help understand the messages.

That is why I am careful using the words. I say "my observation." Because I can only comment on what I see which is fair enough.

Last thing, most negative reaction came from the notion that the one who made the comment is an "outsider." Dont treat me as an outsider of the city thread. treat me as a member and perhaps my observations would receive a more objective treatment:).

To those who might have been hurt, no offense meant.

In a nutshell, my point is if you are in Butuan you wont quitely feel the progress around you but that doesnt mean that there is no progress.

Ang pangutana, hisgut hisgut ra gyud kaha ning imo diri? Why do I detect a tint of SARCASM in your posts? Manulti ka mura abihay malumanay pero BIRA man sab pailalom :ohno: read again your posts and try to put yourself on our shoes, would you not be OUTRAGED if the manner you are conveying your message came across like a subtle attack to insult ,degrade and belittle our city? Unya kung naa ra bay mo react, moingon ra ba dayun ka ug " did I say Bxu is a ghost town?" Hah, what's this? adding more insult to injury? You may not have said it directly, but the mere insinuation alone just so it will fit your purpose is totally uncalled for! Don't you realize that you just barge in here while we are in the height of excitement and anticipation of those on-going U/C and projects of our city which may seem insignificant to you BUT to us mga Butuanons, mean the world already? You've just demonstrated here an attitude of cynicism which is not welcome at all. Imagine, gawas nga klarong nakatamay ka sa among syudad, gihimo pa gyud mi nimong mga bakakon as if all those U/C we've talked about and posted here are just a pigment of our imagination? Hah.katawa lang ko.

And that thing you said about someone with better judgement and maturity, it should work both ways, you know. Dili kay kami ra. Dapat, ikaw pud untana.

Hmmm.. 3 flights na baya everyday ang Cebu Pacific. While ang PAL is once daily tapos twice every MWFSS. Supposedly ang Cebu Pacific is only 2 flights a day and 3 flights every MWFSS, now, they have 3 flights everyday using A319 and A320 aircraft. Maybe they might try to experiment by adding flights every morning or how's about trying to add a night flight.:banana:

Di pod pwede maghimo ug new airport in other locations in Butuan because the modernization process has already commenced.

ACCORDING TO HIM ITS VERY DIFFCULT TO LAND @ BXU AIRPORT..MOST OF THE TIME..FLIGHTS WERE REDIRECTED TO BXU EVERY TIME THAT HAPPENED..HE SAID BXU AIRPORT IS THE BAROMETER FOR A WOULD BE PILOT..WHEN YOU ARE APPYLING FOR PAL AS PILOT FOR ITS CARRIER..

Butuan is not that sleepy town. Its a city, yes. I may disagree on the statement about being bustling. Let me share some observations.

At one time, when I was commuting on multicab to Libertad from city proper, I was the only passenger. The driver will drop me off and passed me to another multicab which is half filled and the original multicab I am riding will turn around towards the city to try again picking more passengers. This happened not once, twice but several times.
Another indication is that by 7 or 8 am, streets of Butuan are somewhat quiet. I know because I got hooked up on computer games somewhere in the city proper.
Thats why sometimes I am quite confused when some say bibo or bustling and there are lot of U/C when what I actually see is a little bit different.

for addtional infromation..that route thta you have taken is serve by 4 routes...bsin tong imomg gi sakyan..mao pay pag larga..
what barometer could more convince you is the number of registered tricylces the city have...
may be your barometer sa imong " construction" kana rang "mall,og mga business establishments..well sorry to say kay..dli lang na cya ang basihan adto sa San Vicente - Villa Kananga Area, Libertad - Bonbon...kay amalibat imong MATA sa gi pang construct na HOUSING UNITS...og dili basta mga pipila lang..

I HEARD A UN VERIFIED REPORT...THAT BXU AIRPORT WELL BE TRANSFERRED DAW FROM BANCASI ELSEWHERE IN BXU VICINITY.. DURING MY LAST VISIT TO DAVAO DEL SUR.. I HAPPENED TO MEET MY "UNCLE"..A COUSIN OF MY MOM..MY "UNCLE" HAPPENED TO BE A PILOT @ A PHILIPPINE AIRLINE PLANE..HE SAID THAT HE HEARED AN INFORMATION ABOUT THE PLAN TRANSFER OF BXU AIRPORT FROM ITS PRESENT LOCATION IN BANCASI..

When did your uncle told you about this? If this is true, asa kaha nila ibutang ang International Airport? Didto ba kaha sa New Town somewhere in Diosdado Macapagal Bridge area kay dako baya ang yuta didto tapos puro ra gani palay ang gitanom didto.

Have you tried going to Bancasi Airport, mga around 2:00pm then you encountered two Cebu Pacific big birds (A319 from Cebu and A320 from Manila) parked at the tarmac?

Kidding aside guys, And Dar Subd is the Subdivision just before Luz Village.
If you notice ( ay wa man diay ka diri Bxu..) left and right corner of Luz village naa nay mga buildings like MANDAUE FOAM and DOTTIES, ang dito pud sa Pareja Subd, left corner, tua didto ang Enterprise Bank, sa right side naman is a Pharmacy and other commercial establishments.

Ang dinhi pud sa Dar Subd, kanang left corner (as shown in the pic) is owned by Rudy Tiu. Ang didto sa opposite direction is a property owned by DY TEBAN. They will also be building a structure diha but as to when I have no idea.Next to Dyteban property is the former Big Jo nga abandoned na ug itsura.

I'm excited aning kang Rudy Tiu because we all know that he also owns SSS building and that other on-going U/C I've posted here before.

CDO, Iligan are west of BXU. Maybe Westbound Terminal ang imo ginamean. Yes Southbound Terminal will serve buses going to DVO,TDG,SFO. The Northbound Terminal will serve buses for Surigao del Norte, Leyte, Samar, Luzon.

Hence basi kinahanglan tulo ka terminal ang dapat itukod.

Di lang tulo, upat jud, North, South, East and West.

The Northbound terminal will serve Surigao City, Leyte, Tacloban, Samar, Luzon and Visayas and vice versa because those areas are north of Butuan...

The Southbound terminal will serve Davao, Tagum, Cotabato, Zamboanga, GenSan and vice versa

The Eastbound terminal will serve Tandag, Bislig, Mangagoy, Prosperidad, San Francisco and vise versa

The Westbound terminal will serve Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Pagadian and Vice versa

Just correct me if I'm wrong with the exact location of those cities...^^:bash:

Maynalang isa ang terminal sa Butuan but comprising of the Northbound, Southbound, Westbound, and Eastbound terminals...similar to an international airport as what I've said on my previous post :)

I just came from school, a few days ago, there were workers doing something along South Montilla Boulevard.. right lane. It's like their digging on the right lane.. and I've noticed a tractor and bulldozer yesterday, they were also doing the same thing on the right lane of South Montilla Boulevard, until then I knew that they we're EXPANDING the left and right lanes of South Montilla Boulevard. Mas grabe ang expansion sa right lane of South Montilla Boulevard and they are still digging on the left lanes pa.

This is good news indeed. It's about time na gyud.

By the way, CAFE CALIENTE's owner (including that new Auto shop you mentioned at SMontilla) is a young businessman who is also into Dog Breeding and Lending business. He and my brother had been high classmates at Timber City Academy.

yes Gillamac has the same facade, the same Architect, the same contractor and Gillamac is from Cebu origin..

"A Commitment to the Filipino. With only a capitalization of P10,000, Atty. Cecilio V. Gillamac and Flora S. Gillamac, CPA, organized Gillamac's Marketing as a sole proprietorship. Its first store was a humble shop along Junquera St. in Cebu City, where Gillamac's was the exclusive dealer for Norkis Trading, the local distributor of Yamaha brand of motorcycles.

It wasn't long before major names in the industry also came to trust in the Gillamac name as a viable marketing venue for their products. These included 3M Philippines, distributor of the world-famous Scotch brand tapes; Shell Philippines; Honda Philippines; Suzuki Corporation; Delsa Industrial Philippines, distributor of Kawasaki motorcycles; Noritake Philippines; Union Motors, distributor of the Minica car brand; Francisco Motors, distributor of the Pinoy jeepneys and Mazda trucks; Makati Machineries, distributor of Ruggerini multi-purpose engines; and Sv-Agro, distributor of turtle power tillers.

As with all successful companies founded on a keen, enterprising grasp of the market's need, sharp business acumen and a strong drive to succeed, Gillamac's Marketing was bound to grow. And grow big it did."

FEDERATION OFFICERS 2009-2010
Chamber Newsletter Vol. VI No. 4
24 Jun 2009 by clyoung

After various business sessions, luncheons and dinners with high government officials as Guests of Honor and Speakers, the assembly sat down to elect the new set of Directors for Fiscal Year 2009 to 2010. The campaign had been hectic, especially that Sunday afternoon, just before the voting. There was a campaign that tried to get the votes of the delegates. Some even gave souvenir items and refreshments while others gave more expensive ones.

Since each delegate had been assigned a number and a permanent place for the business sessions, the same number was the one used for the election of director for facility of voting and counting of votes. There were groups who campaigned for block voting but still most asked for votes individually. Others joined one or more groupings.

The only semblance of electioneering was when the incumbent officers requested the assembly to make sure that the honorary members who were past Federation Presidents, should be written in the ballots first because it would be a cause for shame if after their services and sacrifices for the Federation, they should not be elected Directors.

The system as embodied in the Constitution and By Laws as approved by the SEC is the parliamentary form. The various local chambers elect their area representatives, while the chambers in a region elect their regional representatives. The directors, all forty five of them are elected at large. And the elected directors, elect among themselves the Federation officers.

We had expected that the outgoing Executive Vice President Tan Tian Siong would become the President, but with the intervention of PGMA, who had endorsed Vice President Dr. Alfonso A. Uy during her Keynote Speech at the SMX Convention Center, EVP Tan withdrew his candidacy with a heavy heart. His supporters were very disheartened. We hope they could somehow be assuaged for the unity of the Federation.

The result of the election of Officers during the first meeting of the Board of Directors, was as follows:

President – Dr. Alfonso A. Uy
Exec. Vice Pres. – Domingo H. Yap
1st Vice Pres. – Tan Ching
2nd Vice Pres. – Herbert Go
3rd Vice Pres. – David O. Chua
4th Vice Pres. – Henry Lim Bon Liong
5th Vice Pres. – Angel Ngu
6th Vice Pres. – Alfonso Siy
7th Vice Pres. – Ong Eng Chan
8th Vice Pres. – Alex Yap Cho Ty.

It is no joke to be elected as officer of the Federation. Even being elected as a Director is already quite an honor. It means that one is willing to sacrifice his time and energy for two years, not taking into account the fact that he has to support, not only the school building program, but also for the operation of the Federation. For director, one has to donate at least one school building and several points. One school building for the present is still only P350,000.00 while one point is equivalent to P10,000.00. Dr. Lucio Tan has been donating 10 school buildings and 20 points for many years. Dr. Alfonso A. Uy matched his donation. Others gave less but still quite impressive donations.

Pag-IBIG Fund Butuan Endorsed for
Civil Service Commission Local & National Awards

Pag-IBIG FUND Butuan Branch had been in the limelight for quite a time. It had gained the first place among the Pag-IBIG FUND branches throughout the country in recognition of its achievements for 2007. Way back in 2006, it ranked fifth place in performance among 36 branches nationwide, another feather added to its cap is the Pasada award received from Civil Service Commission last year.

With these accomplishments, Pag-IBIG Fund Butuan City is recommended for another recognition to the Civil Service Commission (CSC). It is nominated to the national CSC as well as in the regional performance award in CSC Caraga 13 Pag-asa Award , both for local and national categories. This Pag-asa Award is an esteemed honor given to high-achieving government individuals/groups of the country with a remarkable impact in productivity and performance. This endorsement is highly recommended by a group of liaison officers of Butuan City and Agusan del Norte, headed by its president, Mrs. Luzviminda F. Gallardo.

The Pag-IBIG Butuan Branch is being nominated by the Fund Coordinator's Club of Butuan City and Agusan del Norte for its innovative efforts toward ensuring that more Pag-IBIG members enjoy the benefits of their membership, particularly through the Multi-Purpose Program (MPL). The MPL Program makes available ready financial assistance to members in times of urgent need. The nomination by said Fund Coordinators was subsequently indorsed by DCEO Jaime A. Fabiaña to the Civil Service Commission Head Office. Kudos to all Pag-IBIG Butuan Branch workforce!!

Maynalang isa ang terminal sa Butuan but comprising of the Northbound, Southbound, Westbound, and Eastbound terminals...similar to an international airport as what I've said on my previous post :)

kanang mga places nga gimention for the South and East can be served by just one terminal based on the existing highways we have. Maybe the existing Terminal in Langihan can serve the routes up north. A south bound terminal may be built in the Villa Kananga area kung tapos na ang bypass road up to Antongalon portion of the Davao-Butuan Road. A west bound terminal must be built in Bancasi which will further facilitate connections to MisOr for passengers who will opt to fly via BXU than in Laguindingan.

How much is the initial investment for an Andok's franchise?
The franchise fee for an Andok's dine-in store is PhP 500,000 while for a take-out outlet, the franchise fee is PhP 300,000. Other investment considerations will be construction, equipment, furnishings and initial working capital, which may vary depending on outlet size and location.

NEDA-KR2 Project Gets RTR a National Award
Written by Gemima A. Olam, NEDA Caraga
Wednesday, 17 June 2009

A team of national evaluators visited the Municipality of Remedios T. Romuladez (RTR), Agusan del Norte on June 15-16, 2009 for the final assessment of the town’s merits for the Department of Agriculture Secretary’s award for outstanding organic agriculture. The assessment is based on the criteria set by the Bureau of Agriculture and Fishery Product Standard. Out of seven nominees, RTR is one of the two national finalists. The municipality of Surallah, South Cotabato is the other contender for the title.

The NEDA-KR2 Productivity Enhancement Program (NEDA-KR2-PEP) is part of this success having granted to RTR an amount of P1 million to support its initiative in organic rice farming. The project started with one hundred ten farmer beneficiaries through loan assistance amounting to P10,000 for each farmer. From P1,000,000, the seed capital has now grown to P1,430,000 which already benefited a total of 130 farmers in the barangays of Poblacion 1 and 2, Panaytayon, Humilog, Tagbongabong, Basilisa and Balangbalang.

The productivity level of the farmers has improved from 4-5 tons/hectare to 5-6 tons/hectare and they have also enjoyed an increased farm income of P40,000/hectare to P55,000/hectare. These are key indicators of development in the lives of the farmers which indicate their achievement of a higher level of self-sufficiency. The farmers themselves during said evaluation expressed how the shift to organic farming have benefited them through lower production cost and further enriching the soil. They also appreciated the support provided by the LGU like training, monitoring, infrastructure support and provision of loan assistance at a much lower interest rate through the NEDA KR2 project.

The presence of RD Carmencita S. Cochingco as a reactor during the evaluation process also strengthened the chances of RTR to be selected as the national awardee especially when she affirmed that the LGU of RTR through Mayor Nilo Soliva and the Municipal Agriculture Office, is among the most active and effective LGU partners of NEDA with its outstanding performance in the implementation of the KR2 project.

To make the municipality fully organic, the LGU of RTR targets to raise the percentage of its farmers practising organic farming to 100 percent in the next 2-3 years. The LGU also intends to expand its organic farm practices to other crops such as banana and vegetables. Considering that the LGU is already producing its own organic fertilizer, this thrust is indeed workable.

Mayor Soliva further hopes to radiate this LGU initiative to the rest of the municipalities of Agusan del Norte and throughout the Caraga Region. This unfolding in itself already makes RTR a winner and a success story worthy of emulation.

Bob musta imong pag lulinghayaw sa Siargao?

nice na kaayo ang Siargao...the circumferential road network concreting is going full blast....the airport runway has just been extended....soon the port of Dapa will be expanded too..

now, who is that idiot Mr. Balatucan aka Mindanao Bee...saying that no changes can be seen in Caraga since it bolted out from his flood prone friendly city

its a lean season for touriists according to our guide...but I was surprised I was able to meet a Slovakian sexy lady in Naked Island (lupig imo Hungarian Reg hehehe)....a Canadian businessman in his late 30s in Burgos...a Japanese guy from Yokohama in General Luna...and a couple from Manila dining in Lucod, Pilar town... ^^ in GL alone, hordes of surfers are still beating the waves...

Layo na kaayo ang Camiguin sa kaharian ni Mindanao Bee....dugay na man tana ni nga Camiguin destinations...apan unsaon ta man kay imperialistic ug hakug man kaayo uban (dili tanan ha) dinha sa regional center nila..mao hangtud karon...sige lang sila pagarpar anang Water Grafting

Post ko pictures in a while...:)

Good to know this Siargao is really catching up in terms of infra... bitaw murag hilom na jud ang camiguin... ang siargao daghan kaayo og events like, surfing, hopping, fishing, watching tourist walking at the shore wearing bikinis... hahahaha tungod kay tagaan jud ug importansya sa atong region...

I am so happy to hear this. Maybe what also hastened this road project is the presence now of that Shell Gasoline Station there? Nah mabibo na gyud na diha.

That Shell station in Ampayon I think is the biggest in Butuan. My sister in- law( second wife of my bro-in-law) works there as one of their office staff. She mentioned about the owner's plan to put up a commercial Arcade and a coffee Bar ( a small resto that serves drinks and snacks) which will happen probably early next year pa. As of now, they'll concentrate pa daw muna with landscaping and other stuff kay wa pa man gyud daw sila mahuman.

this is where the NewTown plan sa City....pretty soon more commercial enterprises will rise along this road....it will complement that similar four lane boulevard with center island going to Butuan Medical Center (also in Tiniwisan)
