Franz-Bxu July 4th, 2009, 03:21 PM widening works along the highway in Ampayon, Butuan City ^^

I support this plan of Mayor Boy Daks to widen the roads of Ampayon, because of the passengers coming from Davao, Agusan del Sur, Surigao, Kitcharao, Jabonga, Tubay, Cabadbaran, Tagum, Cotabato, and other parts north, south or east of Butuan will utilize this high way as their primary entry point to Butuan. This is also to make them travel easily and hassle free without traffic caused by those big trucks and buses. See? Health is not even a hindrance for Mayor Plaza. Even he has kidney disease, he still sees to it that his projects for his city must go on and must be completed.

once that second Phase of By Pass Hi-way is done (which covers Antongalon-Lemon-Maguinda section) a significant portion of highway traffic from Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur and Davao Region and Cotabato provinces will be diverted to the new By Pass Hi-way

DOTC Usec: Mindanao Railways to start late 2009
Posted on July 4, 2009 by damarre
Quoting local dailies, DOTC Undersecretary Guiling A. Mamondiong has said the long-delayed Mindanao Railways Project would start before the yeard ends.
Accordingly, he expects civil works on the first segment from Cagayan de Oro to Laguindingan, where the Laguindingan Airport is currently being constructed. After the CDO-Laguindingan line, the Laguindingan-Iligan segment will follow, then Iligan-Linamon and CDO-Jasaan. This first phase of the project consists of a 120 kilometer stretch of railway that will pass through the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan industrial corridor. Some 45 tunnels and bridges will be constructed along this phase with a total length of 25 kilometers.
From www.pnr.gov.ph, below are the segments of the MRP.
1st Segment, Phase I (Cagayan de Oro City-Iligan City)
2nd Segment, Phase I (Cagayan de Oro City-Gingoog City)
3rd Segment, Phase I (Iligan City-Marawi City)
4th Segment, Phase I (Marawi City-Cotabato City)
Phase II (Gingoog City-Butuan City-Surigao City)
Phase III (Davao City-Monkayo-Butuan City)
Phase IV (Davao City-General Santos City-Cotabato City)
Phase V (Iligan City-Aurora-Dipolog City-Liloy-Ipil-Zamboanga City)
Phase VI (Cagayan de Oro City-Malaybalay City-Damulong-Davao City)
The planned railway consists of a criss-crossing network of lines linking Cagayan de Oro to Iligan, Iligan to Zamboanga City, and Cagayan de Oro to Agusan and Surigao, as well as extensions to Davao and General Santos cities.
The MRS will consist of six phases, covering a total length of 2,000 kilometers.

Mao, this Mindanao Railway project would take long because the gaps of these cities is too far and it will take long to connect each one of these. Also the broadwalk might offer river cruises where you can dine-in SUTUKIL and explore Agusan river. Ang Masao Beach, they should develop it pod like butangan nila ug Magellan's Anchorage shrine such as magbutang ug mga statue nila magellan ug his fleet nga nag-set foot sa Masao Beach. Sa Bood Promontory pod, since naa nay cross, dapat naa pod mga statue nila magellan ug mga pari celebrating the first easter mass in Philippine Soil.
Reg, I will be sending you the e-mail... ayaw kabalaka madawat nimo karon asap

Cebu Pacific ATR 72 bound for Cebu (Notes: Nagka-problema ang Butuan-designated Airbus A319 5J 224 and is undergoing repair maintenance according to Cebu Pacific airport officials. Grabe ang delay. Kawawa naman yung mga excess passengers because the ATR can only carry 70 and they are more than one hundred fifty, and so they will only prioritize the first 70 passengers. So yung mga excess passengers na malayo ang bahay sa airport, binigyan sila ng libreng accomodations ng accredited hotels ng Cebu Pacific, so that they can stay overnight and wait for the next flight of 5J tomorrow. 5J may be having two flights from Cebu tomorrow and may be selecting Airbus A320, Airbus A319 or ATR 72 from their fleet. So daghan na akong gipangyawyaw, ania na ang ATR 72 kanina.

jsl_bxu1206 July 6th, 2009, 02:36 AM "SM is eyeing additional malls in second- and third-tier cities "
SM to build more malls in Cebu
Monday, July 6, 2009
CEBU CITY — SM Prime Holdings, Inc. is negotiating for the purchase of three properties for the establishment of three more shopping malls in Metro Cebu.
Hans T. Sy, SM Prime president, said the target is to have a second mall in Cebu by 2011.
"We’re in the middle of negotiations. We will come up with some good news towards the third quarter [of this year]. But definitely, we will have at least a second site in Cebu by 2011," Mr. Sy said.
Among the three properties under negotiation is a lot within the South Road Properties (SRP), a 300-hectare property that was reclaimed and developed by the Cebu city government.
Mr. Sy said he hoped to acquire all three properties, each having a size of four to five hectares. Negotiations with the Cebu city government over the SRP started last year. Initially, SM Prime had planned to acquire a 20-hectare property and introduce a mixed-use development similar to that in the Mall of Asia complex.
"If I could [acquire all three], I would. Hopefully, we could do something about SRP," he said. There is presently only one SM mall in Cebu and three others in the Visayas — one in Bacolod in Negros Occidental and two in Iloilo City.
As soon as a deal is closed by the third quarter, commercial development will start immediately, he said. If two or all three properties are acquired, development will be implemented simultaneously. Construction will take between 18 and 30 months.
SM usually starts with small developments, or about 85,000 square meters, but with provisions to expand to 200,000 square meters, Mr. Sy said.
SM recently acquired properties in Davao and General Santos cities in Mindanao. Both malls are scheduled to open in 2011. Two more malls in Luzon are scheduled to open this year. Four others are under construction and scheduled to open next year.
There are now 36 SM malls nationwide.
In China, Mr. Sy said SM Prime would open a fourth mall to be located in Suzhou next year and expand the Xiamen mall toward the end of this year. "China is our growth story five years from now," he said.
SM is eyeing additional malls in second- and third-tier cities there as soon as "brand equity" is strengthened.
In Cebu, SM is focused on completing the Radisson Cebu Hotel, a 400-room upscale business hotel adjacent to the existing SM City Cebu mall, by the end of November this year. The hotel is targeted to be fully operational by December this year.
The proposed SMX Convention Center adjacent to the hotel has been temporarily set aside for lack of parking space, Mr. Sy said.
"The convention center is part of it [hotel development]. But it’s not yet final. We may not have enough space for parking," he added.
Both the hotel and convention center are to be partly funded by the proceeds from the recently concluded P10-billion retail bond offering of the Sy family’s listed holding firm, SM Investments Corp. — Marites S. Villamor

that second A320 Cebu Pac from Cebu must have been the replacement flight due to yesterday's downgraded flight.... they sent an A320 to fly their excess passengers from yesterday's plus the passenger load today...

Yes maybe but it's only for this time that an A320 from Cebu will serve because of what happened yesterday. But it's really true that I've seen in my own eyes.. 3:00pm niabot ang A320 right after the A319 that arrived 2:00pm. That A320 from Manila should've landed at exactly 1:30... and there should be no delay for the A319 flight from Manila since the weather is fair... So far, no additional flights from Cebu Pac. All in all, we have 4 flights of Cebu Pac that landed today.

BOB-bXu July 6th, 2009, 10:36 AM Yes maybe but it's only for this time that an A320 from Cebu will serve because of what happened yesterday. All in all, we have 4 flights of Cebu Pac that landed today.
dili pod nato kalimtan ang contribution sa ato port sa kalambuan sa dakbayan :)

BOB-bXu July 6th, 2009, 10:58 AM after the successful launching of Balanghai voyage at CCP grounds in Manila...another second Balanghai shall be built...this time to the place where they once flourished....Butuan ^^
here's the story
Balanghai Circumnavigation Team is planning to build Balanghai 2, here in Butuan City; this is the latest development as former DOTC Undersecretary Art Valdez makes a commitment after successfully completing the Balanghai using ancient construction methods that can now be seen at CCP grounds.
Butuan Historical and Cultural Foundation and Butuan Global Forum will have a major role in raising funds for the realization of the project and of giving opportunity to those living in Butuan to see a Balanghai and be part of another important event in the history of tracing back the pre-Hispanic times of sea travel.
The historical wooden boat will be replicated here in Butuan and the process has started by getting an approval from DENR Caraga to obtain materials like the Dungon which will be sourced locally, the same kind of wood used by the team of Balanghai Project Manager Judail Muyong in building Balanghai 1.
Valdez and the group of people from Tawi-tawi, the home of the Badjaos' Master Builder who created the Balanghai will be coming over to Butuan to start the construction anytime in July 2009.
The Badjaos from the Island of Sibutu are the last community in the Philippines who knows how to build Balanghai using ancient method.
Initial talks are underway to negotiate PPA to use their area in the construction of Balanghai 2.
Instead of earlier announcement that Balanghai 1 will set sail on June 24, Voyage Balanghai will have its maiden voyage on June 27 following the cycle of the New Moon.
Balanghai Circumnavigation Team led by Valdez will have a 20-man team which will compose the Philippine's Mount Everest team with tourism officials and scientists namely, Leo Oracio, Ervin Pastor Ermita, Noel Winceslao, Karina Dayondon, Janet Belarmino-Sardina, Dr. Ted Esguerra, Fred Jamili and Dr. Walter Villasco, 6 Badjaos who will help in navigating Balanghai, 4 from the Special Operations Group of the Philippine Navy, and hopefully, 2 from Butuan.
The Philippine Coast Guard provided a ship to escort Voyage Balanghai on its journey to show their support.
Voyage Balanghai now included Butuan City as part of its stop over in the 7-leg journey around Philippine waters. It will stay in Butuan for 5 days before proceeding to travel towards Cagayan de Oro City and if luck would have it, Balanghai 2 built in Butuan will now join Voyage Balanghai in circumnavigating the world.
If Balanghai 2 will not yet be finished by the time Voyage Balanghai arrives in Butuan, it will catch up in a much later date.
Meanwhile, local historian Greg Hontiveros will join the Balanghai Circumnavigation Team in one of its leg of the Voyage Balanghai to write a book about the Balanghai: “The Maritime Heritage of Southeast Asia.”
Mr. Hontiveros is the author of "Butuan of a Thousand Years" where he wrote:
"In July 1976, antique hunters hit on the remains of a large wooden boat in sitio Ambangan of barangay Libertad, a couple of kilometers south of Suatan. This discovery was unprecedented in Asia: the balanghai boat relics were the eastern equivalent to the Viking boat discoveries in Northern Europe."
In 1987, President Corazon Aquino declared Balanghai as a national treasure

The official name of the Island is PANSUKIAN but because of lack of vegetation, it got this "Naked Island" name to its credit.
Right accross this beautiful island is the PANSUKIAN TROPICAL ISLAND RESORT, the most expensive in Siargao.
Lain man tan-awon no?

filino July 7th, 2009, 02:31 AM Cebu Pacific ATR 72 bound for Cebu (Notes: Nagka-problema ang Butuan-designated Airbus A319 5J 224 and is undergoing repair maintenance according to Cebu Pacific airport officials.

Good for you, alfechekarl that you flown to London using that super jumbo Airbus A380-800 of Singapore Airlines. In fact, the first A380 was delivered to SQ. I like the interiors of SQ's business class and suites but I've only seen the pictures, I'll have to wait for years so that I can ride this super jumbo. It's Aer Lingus and not Air Lingus. :)

This is the first time Caraga Region was chosen to host the bi-annual gathering of educators. The fourth congress was held in Zamboanga City.
This year’s congress theme is “Forging Efforts towards Achieving Education-for-All (EFA) Goals in Mindanao.”

alfechekarl July 7th, 2009, 11:28 AM "Woman Who Discovered Huge Petroleum Deposits in Butuan Passed Away
By Ben on Jun 15, 2008 in Feature, News
BUTUAN CITY- The woman who saw the first burst of black, muddy flammable liquid believed to be huge petroleum deposits underneath the family’s more than a hectare lot at Barangay Pagatpatan here in Butuan City passed away at the age of seventy nine last May 27.
Survived with husband Ireneo now 80 years old and eight children now fully grown up and have their own families, Antonia Bolongaita who was then 53 years old when she saw the first bursting of black, muddy flammable liquid at her backyard never saw development of that discovery.
Worst, the area is now left unattended with tall grasses growing everywhere as the aging couple could no longer physically maintained in cutting cogon grasses and clean the swampy portion near mouth of Agusan River and Butuan Bay.
Early morning on Holy Thursday in 1982, surviving husband now 80 years old Ireneo Bolongaita recalled to this writer it was his wife, Antonia who woke him up after she noticed the first burst of black, muddy flammable liquid in the water well they dug for days as they search for water supply in the area.
Until now, the spewing natural gas was providing family members with free liquefied petroleum gas for years that came naturally flowing from the well.
In the lot where the water well is located, the free flowing methane gas is also providing free gasul for cooking to other Bolongaita family member whose is just situated few meters away.
“This is the only consolation we’ve got” eighty years old Ireneo Bolongaita fondly as Manong Ireneo said when this writer visited him this morning after interviewing him in April 24, 2006.
The methane gas is a colorless, odorless gas and its discovery was in relation to petroleum oil found underneath earth’s crust.
The Canadian engineers in 1985 confided to the couple that the crude oil discovery is only part of the huge fossil fuel deposit found in Mindanao as it also admitted the presence of “Deuterium Gas” at the Philippine Deep found in Surigao.
Foreign engineers and geologists who visited the area and made studies confided to them that the *petroleum* found on their land is only part of a huge fossil fuel deposit in *Mindanao* that extends as far south as the Cotabato provinces.
Bolonggaita recounted how Canadian *petroleum* engineers illustrated in 1985 the extent of fuel *deposits* underneath their land, adding that the Canadian engineering team said they believe the *Mindanao* oil deposit is the source of all the *petroleum* *deposits* in the world.
The Canadians shared with the Bolonggaitas their theory that the *Mindanao* fossil fuel deposit is the mother lode from which other oil producing countries’ crude oil emanates.
Bolonggaita said the Canadian engineers likened the *Mindanao* *petroleum* deposit to a river that serves as the water source of its tributaries.
However, Bolonggaita admitted he did not understand the scientific explanations for this given by the Canadian engineers.
“They were amazed with the discovery and even chuckled when they found out (using) their instruments the extent of oil *deposits* underneath my land,” Ireneo said.
“But when local officials and even some national officials came and talked to these Canadians, we never saw nor heard of (the Canadians) again,” Ireneo added.
Ireneo said the Canadians left them calling cards but added that the Canadians’ enthusiasm over the *petroleum* died a natural death over the 26 years since the engineers’ visit.
The Bolonggaitas also lost the team’s calling cards bearing the logo of the Canadian National Oil Company.
He said many foreigners, including some Japanese and Americans, had arrived on their land ahead of the Canadians claiming to be *petroleum* engineers and geologists but, like the Canadians, they never returned after speaking with government officials.
These foreign engineers and geologists flocked to the Bolonggaita residence after their house was flooded in 1982 “with black, muddy liquid.”
That substance was *petroleum* that had percolated up through the swampy ground and with it came free-flowing methane gas “that emits from the water well we dug,” Ireneo said.
He recalled that their property was featured on the television show “Travel Time” and said their land has become a regular stop for field trips by students from different parts of *Mindanao* .
Bolongaita said foreign petroleum engineers who visited them have pinched in instrument that reach 2,000 feet deep underneath his lot and found the huge petroleum deposits that will reached to as wide as 500 kilometers square wide that will reached to as far as Liguasan Marsh in Cotabato.
True enough of what the foreign engineers were telling Bolongaita years had past, in April 2005, huge deposits of oil and natural gas have been identified in at least three areas in Mindanao , according to the Department of Energy (DOE).
The Energy Department said these big potential sites in Mindanao include the Davao to Agusan basin particularly in Butuan City now being explored by the mainland Chinese company Seng Hong Exploration Corporation.
The Cotabato basin which covers over one million hectares in Liguasan marsh; and the area straddling Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
But for unknown reasons the project never reached the Bolongaita premises"

Circumferential roads to interlink our barangays;
A downtown urban district with fully concrete roads and paver walkways and pavements;
A new and flourishing uptown area to accommodate our expanding population;
A modern Butuan City Inland Port;
A 10 to 12-thousand seater Butuan City Coliseum;
An ultra modern railway transit system;
A fully computerized governance system;"

To reiterate, a few years from now, we shall see:

A downtown urban district with fully concrete roads and paver walkways and pavements;
A new and flourishing uptown area to accommodate our expanding population;
A modern Butuan City Inland Port;

An ultra modern railway transit system;
