I think this is the boundary of Agusan del Norte and Misamis Oriental...

I just wanna clarify about Butuan City.. that i think is no longer under of Agusan del Norte.. Cabadbaran is a capital of ADN... So Butuan is Butuan City only not Agusan del Norte anymore IMO.. because as a resident of BXU we've never voted Governors, board memebers etc. I think Butuan City, Caraga IMO not ADN... or whatever.... hehehehehe samoka oi...:cheers::cheers: Let us give chance to Cabadbaran as a capital of ADN.... Caraga is not only helping the capital city but the entire region as well.. not like other region that they only focus on the capital city.... :ohno::ohno:

In terms of geographical location, Butuan City is part of Agusan del Norte...but politically, Butuan City is an independent chartered city which is the reason why residents of Bxu do not vote for the Governor of the province....

the roads from the highway to its market site and barangay site is now paved....and the sidewalks are now being built...there are now new commercial buildings along these newly paved streets...

its development will be boosted further once that access road to the Regional center is finished....Ampayon is also very promising considering there's a big university there in in the offing soon.....and of course that planned Butuan Astrodome

...not to mention its very strategic location that is well within the center of Butuan's diverging national highways

This LODGE is also located in Guingona Subd. Sorry dili klaro ang name sa lodge. Actually, I only got the chance to take this shot while we were trapped in the traffic....YEZ, guys, even Guingona Sudb now experiences traffic jams once in awhile.

YES, absolutely. Not only the demand for apartments, but for Bachelor's pads as well. I think this is also due to the increasing number of students coming from outside Bxu, who now prefers apartments rather than boarding houses. I

That 13,000 rental/month is way too expensive ra pud, unless if it's for a whole house complete with a gate and garage. But for an apartment, I think the most ideal rental per month is 4,000 to 5,000 for a 3 bedroom unit. For a Bachelor's pad naman, 2,500.00 would be reasonable na.

they are not making a drainage, I think they were just leveling off the shoulders slightly below the concrete to make the water flow towards its gutters

that works along south Montilla Blvd IS NOT under the city but by the national government agency DPWH and I must say it's the most mediocre and stupid works I have seen so far

Thieves strip electrical wiring from Diosdado Macapagal Bridge

Butuan City (July 14) -- The Butuan City Police Office City Mobile Group arrested one of 2 people for stealing electrical wires from the Diosdado Macapagal Bridge lighting system, at past 2 early dawn today while conducting mobile patrol on said area.

Police authorities identified the suspect as Arthur Artajo, 32 years old, married, a resident of Purok 7 Barangay Ong Yiu, native of Dahon-Dahonan Purok 2 Santiago, Agusan del Norte who was caught in red handed stealing electrical wirings.

Upon arrest recovered from the suspect's possession was 8 mm and 30mm electrical wirings measuring more than 50 meters long, estimated to cost more or less 50,000 pesos.

It was only during the interrogation that the suspect revealed of one companion who at that time the one was driving a motorized trisikad, but refused to divulge the identity. The suspect faces charges in violation of the Republic Act 7832-Theft of Electrical Power Transmission Link and Materials.

City Engineering Electrical Division Chief Engr. Walter Butao expressed disappointment over the incident saying, the maintenance and management of Diosdado Macapagal Bridge has not yet been turned over to the city government.

"The P2.2 Billion Bridge project is funded under the Japan Bank International Cooperation and under the contract with Nippon Steel/TOA Corporation, who until today has the authority of the bridge's electronic control," said Engr. Butao.

It was learned the city government has long been requesting the Nippon Steel/TOA Corporation to conduct a hands-on training and formally turn over to the city government its full authority in managing the bridge.

The Japanese technology was used to construct this earthquake proof bridge, which consists of 300 meters steel cable stayed main bridge with concrete tower and steel deck plate girder on steel pipe pile foundation that spans the Agusan River about three kilometers upriver from the old Magsaysay Bridge in downtown Butuan and it connect the Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway or the Surigao-Agusan-Davao Road and the Butuan City-Cagayan- Iligan Road.

Engr. Butao appealed to the community in helping police authorities to be vigilant in their own area and added, "All the lightings installed in Diosdado Macapagal Bridge is photocell type, in other words, it automatically switched on when there's no more sunlight. We are provided with state of the art lighting facilities and it would be a loss to the people of Butuan if one day the whole bridge area is without illumination."

Last month, 1 out 3 suspects was apprehended for stealing more than 100 meters length electrical wires on that same bridge. Stolen wires can be stripped and sold to recyclers. (dxBN-Radyo ng Bayan Butuan)

Man Who Tried to Steal Electrical Wirings from P2.2-B New Butuan Bridge Arrested
July 14, 2009

BUTUAN CITY – Members of the patrolling Butuan City Police Mobile Group arrested in broad daylight Monday morning a man who tried allegedly to steal electrical wirings of the newly constructed, Japanese Government funded P2.2-B Butuan Bridge named after President Arroyo’s father, the late former President Diosdado Macapagal.

According to official Caraga Police Information Office report, operatives of the Butuan City Mobile Group arrested a certain Arthur Rodriguez Artajo Jr. who was caught in the act of stealing installed electrical wirings of Philippine Government loaned Diosdado Macapagal Bridge.

The report claimed the police recovered from Artajo’s possession electrical wires with total length of more or less 50 meters. Said suspect was turned-over to Butuan City Police Station 1 for proper disposition, report said.

Artajo allegedly seek forgiveness claiming he only do it for survival since no job opportunities is available in the city.Butuan's P2.2-B second bridge now named Diosdado Macapagal bridge

In the past, theft of the bridge’s steel structures or railings aside from fluorescent lamps which are supposed to lighten the area at night because of reported criminalities were also reported.

The bridge whose grand opening was personally inaugurated by no less than President Arroyo last year have been the subjects of many troubles and alleged criminalities since it was completed.

Complaints claimed the bridge was just made allegedly as huge motel, urinals and venue for jam sessions where teenagers and old alike made it as a park at night with broken liquor and soft drinks bottle left scattered all over the bridge.

The bridge originally made to ease traffic but critics claimed huge trucks and other vehicles still used the old Butuan Bridge named after President Magsaysay until now because of alleged laxity in traffic law implementations strictly requiring all heavy vehicles to take the new bridge route and punished violators.

Actually, there's an upcoming project with ML Kwarta Padala where customers can send Jollibee products to other places. I don't know the exact mechanics coz it's not yet launched. Basta the concept is I can order here in Cebu and the recipient can claim the products in Butuan. I'll tell you on how it works as soon as it's formally launched.

My parents told me that during the 70s kay dili daw kaayo peaceful sa BXU. Even in the 80s daghan pa to gani mga killings. Naka-witness pa gyud ko one time og kanang on the spot nga killing when I was in Grade 5 just outside the UCGS gate. The guy was chased by another and was shot in front of me. Naa pa gyud to one time nga gi-suspend ang mass sa St Joseph Cathedral coz someone was shot dead in front of the altar. We were there after the killing to supposedly attend Sunday mass. we saw a lot of blood sa altar dapit. Naa pa gyud kadtong attack ni Col. Noble, nakakita gyud kog isa ka dump truck nga patay gi-dump sa raniel. As a kid, those sights created some kind of trauma in me.

But then, they've decided to occupy that site at GMALL's parking area instead. There were feedbacks from those invited at the opening of Cafe Caliente, nga sayang daw kay dili kaau siya mapansin sa highway.

MANILA, Philippines – The Supreme Court has denied with finality appeals to reverse its ruling that declared as unconstitutional laws that converted 16 municipalities into cities.

Voting 6-5, the court voided the following Republic Acts: 9389 (Baybay City in Leyte), 9390 (Bogo City in Cebu), 9391 (Catbalogan City in Samar), 9392 (Tandag City in Surigao del Sur), 9393 (Lamitan City in Basilan), 9394 (Borongan City in Samar), 9398 (Tayabas City in Quezon), 9404 (Tabuk City in Kalinga), 9405 (Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur), 9407 (Batac City in Ilocos Norte), 9408 (Mati City in Davao Oriental), 9409 (Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental), 9434 (Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte), 9435 (El Salvador City in Misamis Oriental), 9436 (Carcar City in Cebu), and 9491 (Naga City in Cebu).

“In view of the denial of the second motion for reconsideration, no further pleadings shall be entertained. Let entry of judgment be made in due course,” the high court said in a three-page resolution.

The court had voided the said laws converting the municipalities into cities in a resolution dated November 18, 2008.

The court said the municipalities were not exempt from the income requirement for cities of P100 million.

The income requirement for cities was raised to P100 million from P20 million after Republic Act 9009 amended the Local Government Code. The laws converting the 16 municipalities into cities were passed after RA 9009 took effect.

The court said “limiting the exemption only to the 16 municipalities violates the requirement that the classification must apply to all similarly situated.”

The high court made the ruling following a petition by the League of Cities of the Philippines, saying a wholesale conversion of municipalities into cities would reduce the share of existing cities of the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).

Cabadbaran is in municipality status right now because it has recently downgraded from City status. Those pics posted were taken when Cabadbaran was still in city status or the LGU's forgot to take off those road signs. ^^

San Francisco and Trento? Both are very very far from being a city and it's impossible for them to become one...they don't meet the requirements such as City Income, City Population and etc.

yup... it's the responsibility of the LGU's to baklas those welcome arcs. :lol:

Naa man pod pero poor lang ang income sa city and gamay ra ang population.. I think AdS is listed as one of the poor provinces in the PI. Pero it's true, I've seen establishments there such as banks, central warehouse, jollibee, etc. but San Frans remains as a municipality...still. The only city in Agusan Sur is Bayugan City.

No! ADS is not listed as poorest provinces in PI. Dako ang source of income sa ADS. ADN and SDN i think is part of one of the poorest provinces in PI. Datu ang Del Sur oi.. hehehe Surigao and Agusan del Sur.. ang mga Norte lang nga luya kaayo....

I was still here in Cebu when the news about the downgrading of these cities was released by the Supreme Court. Cebuanos have some concern on these for the fact that three towns (Naga, Carcar and Bogo) were involved here. I left Cebu for Butuan on May 12, 2009. I took the picture on May 18, 2009 (a day before Butuan City fiesta). I was along the stretch of Santiago and RTR collecting specimens for my research on the aquatic life of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur. I left for Cebu on that evening also.

Municipio de Bayugan was also downgraded from city to municipality together with Tandag.

There is Bayugan Tres in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur and there is Bayugan Dos in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. Bayugan Uno is converted into Bayugan City but now downgraded thus they call it now Bayugan Seis. This is the humor that they spread in Agusan del Sur and just quote it here.

I think the conversion of San Francisco and Trento into a city is not impossible. We have to wait for years. Like Tagum City, San Francisco lies on a crossroad in going south to Davao and going east to Bislig. The seat of the provincial government, in Patin-ay, is very near to San Francisco. Trento lies along the boundary of Caraga and Compostela Valley. Actually near Trento is a place whose population is much bigger than Trento but not a municipality. It is Diwalwal. Most of the miners in Diwalwal transact business in Trento compared to Monkayo as Poblacion Trento is much nearer than Poblacion Monkayo. Most of them are even registered voters of Trento. Previously Trento was just a barangay of Bunawan and like Magallanes, Agusan del Norte who was then a part of Butuan City, these two barangays were converted into a municipality in 1971. A current add on for Trento now is the highway to be constructed in going to Bukidnon. Currently there are buses from Davao City that pass Trento and send their passengers to Santa Josefa, Veruela, Loreto and areas near the boundary of Bukidnon. Just sharing what I got from people there who were my friends and relatives being a member of the Piencenaves clan.
