jsl_bxu1206 August 4th, 2009, 05:47 PM Aboitiz Power offers $30 million for power barges
Tuesday, August 4, 2009
LISTED ABOITIZ Power Corp. has concluded a negotiated bid for the acquisition from the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. of two barge-mounted, diesel-powered generation plants in Mindanao, each with a capacity of 100 megawatts.
In a disclosure to the stock exchange yesterday, Aboitiz Power said that the prices offered for the two barges, known as PB 117 and PB 118, were $16 million and $14 million, respectively.
Aboitiz Power added that "at least 40% will be payable upon closing of the acquisition with the remaining 60% payable over a period not to exceed seven years."
Aboitiz Power will acquire PB 117, which is located in Brgy. Sta. Ana, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, through wholly owned subsidiary Therma Mobile Inc.
PB 118, located in Brgy. San Roque, Maco, Davao del Norte, will be acquired by another Aboitiz Power unit, subsidiary Therma Marine Inc.
The listed power firm reported a P381-million net income for the first quarter, a drop from the P1.01-billion net income posted in the same period last year.
The first-quarter decline was due to lower power generation and power distribution revenues, Aboitiz Power said.
Aboitiz shares yesterday closed at P5.70 apiece yesterday, slightly higher than Friday’s close of P5.60 per share.

The ICP Meditation Garden is a LABYRINTH Garden.... a replica of the Chartres Labyrinth.
This was an eleven-circuit design divided into four quadrants. It was often found in Gothic Cathedrals but over time many of these eleven-circuit designs were destroyed or intentionally removed.
The most famous of these remaining labyrinths is at Chartres Cathedral near Paris, France. The labyrinth at Chartres was built around 1200 and is laid into the floor in a style sometimes referred to as a pavement maze. The original center piece has been removed and other areas of the labyrinth have been restored.
This labyrinth was meant to be walked but is reported to be infrequently used today. In the past it could be walked as a pilgrimage and/or for repentance. As a pilgrimage it was a questing, searching journey with the hope of becoming closer to God. When used for repentance the pilgrims would walk on their knees. Sometimes this eleven-circuit labyrinth would serve as a substitute for an actual pilgrimage to Jerusalem and as a result came to be called the "Chemin de Jerusalem" or Road of Jerusalem.
In walking the Chartres style labyrinth the walker meanders through each of the four quadrants several times before reaching the goal. An expectancy is created as to when the center will be reached. At the center is a rosette design which has a rich symbolic value including that of enlightenment. The four arms of the cross are readily visible and provide significant Christian symbolism.
Walk with an open-eye and an open-heart.
3-Stages of the Walk:
1. Releasing (Purgation). From the entrance to the goal is the path of shedding or "letting go." There is a release and an emptying of worries and concerns.
2. Receiving (Illumination). At the center there is illumination, insight, clarity, and focus. It is here that you are in a receptive, prayerful, meditative state.
3. Integrating (Union). Empowerment and taking ownership. The path out is that of becoming grounded and integrating the insight. It is being energized and making what was received manifest in the world.

The Immaculate Concepcion Meditation Garden
by striker_jem
Immaculate Concepcion Church
South drive, St. Joseph Subd. Butuan City

Sorry about that guys. The length of the bridge is only 907.61 meters. When I said 10.30 kilometers, that is already the total length of the Diosdado Macapagal bridge & the bypass road projects inclusive of its linkages to the existing roads.

alfechekarl August 6th, 2009, 11:07 AM Talking about Bridges this is Viaduct de Millau:
The longest bridge in the world... The Millau Viaduct is currently the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world. It has a steel deck, rather than the more usual concrete roadbed.
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/alfechekarl/Bridge.jpg
The Millau Viaduct, le Viaduc de Millau in French, is a large bridge that traverses the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in south western France. It was designed by the civil engineer Michel Virlogeux and British architect Norman Foster. It is the tallest bridge in the world. It is slightly taller than the Eiffel Tower and only 38 m, or 125 ft, shorter than the Empire State Building. The viaduct is part of the freeway from Paris to Béziers, autoroute A75. It was officially dedicated on December 14, 2004 and it was opened to cars two days later.

Franz-Bxu August 7th, 2009, 04:55 AM WHAT IS A BOTO PATROLLER?
A BOTO PATROLLER is an active supporter of the BOTO MO, IPATROL MO: AKO ANG SIMULA movement.
Patrollers are citizen journalists – active volunteers who will watch over their districts, towns, and municipalities and report incidents of abuse and wrongdoing by the candidates, local and national officials, campaign organizers, and the public at large to limit if not eliminate fraud in the 2010 National & Local elections.
Patrollers can use their mobile phones, camcorders, digital cameras, computers or any gadget and gizmo to record and post their reports on the website created exclusively for their use. Their reports may also be used for news stories that will come out on newscasts in ABS-CBN Channel 2, ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), Studio 23, DZMM Teleradyo, and ABS-CBN’s Regional & Global Stations, as well as posted online at www.abs-cbnnews.com and printed on our broadsheet partners The Philippine Star and Business World.
HOW DO I BECOME A BOTO PATROLLER?
There are three ways to sign up:
1. MANUAL REGISTRATION
Registration forms are available in designated areas nationwide. Interested citizens may personally sign up and submit their completed forms at the following locations:

b. Mobile Registration Booths
ABS-CBN will put up Mobile Registration Booths in all of its BMPM activities throughout the year. These activities include BMPM roadshows conducted by Umagang Kay Ganda, TV Patrol World, and Bandila, leadership forums conducted by ANC, citizen journalism workshops and special Y Speak on-the-road episodes jointly conducted by ANC & Studio 23, Docuniversity project of The Correspondents, and concerts among others. The first BMPM roadshow took place last May 11, 2009 in Pampanga, Cebu City, Davao, and La Salle Greenhills, while the first leadership forum was held at the Ateneo de Manila University in Katipunan on the same day.
To know more about these events, stay tuned regularly to ABS-CBN Ch. 2, ANC, Studio 23, DZMM, ABS-CBN Regional and Global stations for updates. You may also visit our websites www.abs-cbnnews.com and http://botomoipatrolmo.multiply.com/ for regular updates.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING A BOTO PATROLLER?
Aside from the fulfillment of being a part of a nationwide movement of citizens seeking to help the country, a BOTO PATROLLER will also:
1. Have special access and invitation to BOTO MO, IPATROL MO: AKO ANG SIMULA events and activities;

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BOTO PATROLLER?
A BOTO PATROLLER has 3 main responsibilities:
1. Spread the Word
A member must know and understand the message of the movement.
BOTO MO, IPATROL MO AKO ANG SIMULA stands for proactive individual change --- that change can happen if Filipinos will start to take action.
2. Stand Guard
A BOTO PATROLLER must be vigilant. He/She must understand that to push for cleaner elections, he/she must make a stand and let our leaders know that we are watching and that we will hold them accountable for their actions.
3. Register to Vote
A BOTO PATROLLER should also be a registered voter. He/She must believe that his/her vote counts and indifference is not an option.
WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE IN STORE FOR BOTO PATROLLERS?
We have planned various activities Patrollers may take part in throughout the year. For updates on these events, visit www.abs-cbnnews.com. For each activity, details and mechanics will also be posted online.

Murag daghan ma'y nabuhat si Daisy dire..I forgot lang, kay you know I was in elementary...hehe bata pa kaayo ug utok ug walay paki-alam sa siyudad.
Okay ra sa ako kung siya ang himoon ug mayor sa siyudad kay she has an experience naman pod and her husband baya was a mayor, pwede niya tiwason ang mga projects ni boy daku kundi mag-develop ug bag-o. She also needs some advice from her husband since her husband knows everything from budgets/funds to projects, etc. It's time for Boy Daku to rest naman, rest as in higda-higda, ingkod-ingkod, dili pod kanang rest sa lungon hahaaha. :hahaha:
Kung si Joboy, ok ra pud kay daghan man siya'y nabuhat. As you can see everywhere in Bxu, "Thru the efforts of Cong. Jose "Joboy" S. Aquino II".

jsl_bxu1206 August 7th, 2009, 08:59 AM You're wrong franz, we do have durian farms in Butuan. The durian tree doesn't only grow in Davao but anywhere in the whole Mindanao island. I know one in Taguibo coz our family friend owns it and they give us fresh durians during harvest. You ask your Uncle Bob gani, he knows.

Yeah..here's an example..
A Project of Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Jun Ebdane and Thru the efforts of Cong. Jose "Joboy" S. Aquino II
^^
Murag the congressman files to the President to do this and that for the city the congressman represents and then the President sends an order to the DPWH to take actions immediately.

regjeex August 7th, 2009, 09:30 AM 100% jud focus si jane sa filinvest... bigtimer jud ni nga bae ba....
jsl_bxu1206 August 7th, 2009, 09:35 AM Lisod mamaligya og yuta sa filinvest especially during this time of economic crisis.
Personally, dili ko ganahan mo-stay og ingon ana nga subdivision or even kanang sa mga rosewood kay pareho ra ang design sa mga balay. Your house would be no special kay same lang tanan and you'll be restricted in terms of expansion. Some would restrict kanang mag-sugba sa gawas. I wanna live in a place where I can be free kung unsa gusto nako sa akong house as long as it's not gonna be harmful or inconvenient to others.
100% jud focus si jane sa filinvest... bigtimer jud ni nga bae ba....

alfechekarl August 7th, 2009, 10:18 AM BUTUAN CITY, March 19 (PNAFeatures) – The Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) currently being zealously implemented by various departments of the government is “hitting the heart” of the poor, especially the unemployed.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has tapped multi-sectoral agencies to create viable sources of livelihood particularly in tourism, agriculture and environment sectors, among others in response to the prevailing global financial crisis, with a total budget of P330 billion.
About 112,000 jobs were initially projected to be created on a nationwide level under the CLEEP.
Specifically, the program aims to provide livelihood opportunities to laid off overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other unemployed sectors in agriculture, such as farmers and fisherfolk.
In Northeastern Mindanao (Caraga region) alone, since the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other agencies of the government that have been implementing the CLEEP program since last month, close to 3,820 skilled and non-skilled people have already gained employment.
“The work given to me is an answered prayer for my starving family,” said Joel R. Pilo, 40 years old, a resident of this city. A father to three children, he was among the almost 2,000 applicants that lined up during the job fair at the DPWH regional office here.
Northern Mindanao DPWH Regional Director Dr. Evelyn T. Barroso said that Pilo is one of the 414 newly hired workers set to be deployed in field government infrastructure projects.
The DPWH Caraga is set to hire some 15,000 skilled and non-skilled workers before the end of the year.
On the other hand, 23-year-old Donato Grado, who was hired as Technical Assistant in Adfil Construction Corp. during the DPWH job fair, said: “The salary package is very compensating with complete benefits enough to support the daily needs of our families.”
Meanwhile, to provide local employment as well as sustain the demand abroad, the government launched the Nurses Assigned in Rural Service (NARS) program.
The DOLE-Caraga region announced this during a press conference here today, March 18.
At least 355 registered nurses in the region stand to benefit from this project, the DOLE said.
It was gathered that 355 nurses will initially be hired throughout the region. Fifty will be assigned in Agusan del Norte; 70 in Agusan del Sur; 105 in Surigao del Norte; 95 in Surigao del Sur; and 35 for the province of Dinagat Islands.
NARS is a joint undertaking of the DOLE, Department of Health (DOH), and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) – Board of Nursing.
The program also aims to address the glut in inexperienced nurses and increase accessibility of health care services for the marginalized and poor sector.
Nurses will be deployed in rural areas to initiate primary health, school nutrition, maternal health programs, first-line diagnosis etc., inform about community water sanitation practices and do health surveillance; and immunize children and mothers. The nurses will also serve as roving nurses for rural schools.
The program is expected to not only provide jobs to nurses but also training which is necessary for employment abroad.
Project beneficiaries will be provided with an initial Php 8,000 allowance from the national government and another Php 2,000 from the local government units.
The DENR, on the other hand, is providing employment to hundreds of Filipinos living in upland areas in remote mountainous communities while helping them preserve the environment through the CLEEP via the Upland Development Program (UDP).
“The Upland Development Program and the Bantay Gubat Project form part of President Arroyo’s endeavor to provide green-collar jobs to society’s most vulnerable sectors by giving them access to short-term employment opportunities, which, in turn, will give them economic resiliency to respond to the anticipated adverse impacts of the ongoing worldwide economic downturn,” DENR Secretary Jose “Lito” Atienza said.
Caraga region reported the opening of about 3,552 slots available for the establishment of nurseries and plant fruit-bearing and forest trees, development of individual upland farms through agro forestry, reforestation of grassland areas, reforestation of degraded areas, implementation of assisted natural regeneration in appropriate areas, conduct of enrichment plantings in sparsely-wooded grasslands, mangroves and tidal flats, revegetation of streambanks, development of forest parks and tree plantation projects.
The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), however, topped the UDP-component list with 7,733 hectares (has) followed by Regions 5 and 10 with 4,841 has (4,601has upland, 240 has mangrove) and 4,246 has (4,126 has upland, 120 has mangrove), respectively.
Atienza explained the DENR-CLEEP takes a four-pronged approach to creating emergency work in the uplands as it addresses forest protection and rehabilitation of watersheds and mangrove areas, while opening up job opportunities for income generation and food and crop production.
All environment and energy projects of the government under the CLEEP were packaged to create “Green Collar Jobs.”
In addition to thousands of jobs under UDP, the Bantay Gubat (BG) project will hire a total of 4,389 persons to conduct foot patrol in the forested areas of the region. All UDP and BG jobs will be under the supervision of the DENR.
For the BG component, the CAR, likewise, has the biggest share in the BK pie with 8,898 has, followed by Region 4B (7,434), Region 2 (7,404) and Region 3 (4,650).
Each BG will be allotted an area of 342 hectares to monitor, bringing to a total of 6.2 million hectares of forest lands placed under the BG project.
President Arroyo cited that hiring of green collar job workers would help pump-prime the economy under the country’s Economic Resiliency Plan (ERP).
Other employment packages included in CLEEP are jatropha planting and the replanting of coconut farms to ensure stable and sustainable biofuel feedstock; LPG retrofitting of tricycles and public utility vehicles (PUVs) and barangay electrification using solar panels or connecting them to hydroelectric powered grids. Maybe, if its found in a volcanic area. Here in Caraga region, we don't have such volcanic mountains yet we have dark or black or grayish sands in some of our beaches. Wet lang siguro ang sand mao na dark ang color or black gyud.
But wait, white gyud ang atong mga sands dire pero nasagol sa yuta nga itom that's why it has darkish color.

mike durero August 7th, 2009, 12:38 PM Talking about Bridges this is Viaduct de Millau:

Franz-Bxu August 7th, 2009, 03:17 PM Infrastructure readiness vital for BPO investment
By MIKE U. CRISMUNDO
August 7, 2009, 4:30pm
Butuan City – As business process outsourcing (BPO) locators look for more viable investment areas, Mindanao should be able to fast track its efforts in creating a conducive environment for BPO investments that would zero in on infrastructure readiness and tapping its enormous talent pool, said BPO analysts.
“Abundant and low-cost real estate is spurring the growth of Information Technology (IT-BPO) investments and this boom is fuelled by real demand with many potential investors asking for ready-now spaces at reasonable cost,” said Lizabel Holganza, president of ICT Davao Inc.
She added that Manila and Cebu have abundant IT parks that are PEZA registered, which is a main requirement of BPO locators.
Bert Barriga, ICT External vice president, said that Southern and Northeastern Mindanao and other areas must be able to increase the number of its Processing of Export Zone (PEZA) sites and making these sites attractive and viable investment locations.
He added that infrastructure, talent, cost of doing business and risk management are the major criteria the BPO locators are focusing on.
Barriga also said that key cities in Mindanao should increase its competitiveness in the major areas of the BPO scorecard because he said that BPO locators “cannot all converge in Metro Manila.”
Holganza also said that Mindanao needs to capitalize on Mindanao’s large untapped absorptive capacity which can drive the IT-BPO development efforts.
“The fact that Davao and the entire Mindanao has a deep talent pool creates a big pull for potential locators,” she said, adding that the potential of this pool must be clearly understood “delivering high-end outsourcing process such as knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and information technology outsourcing (ITO).
Butuan is of course wide-open for investments hehehe ^^
