The proposed site for the 30,000 m2 Multi-use office complex is located on a major road connecting the historic old city centre, formerly Akmola, with the new city of Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan since 1997. The primary urban scale architectural feature of the scheme is the shimmering, layered, all-glass western facade, which both unites the twin office towers as well as acts as a threshold to the complex. The scheme comprises 2, 15 storey towers, united by both the west facade and a common podium consisting of restaurants, retail spaces, an atrium and parking for approximately 600 cars.

The podium roof is heavily planted to act as both an outdoor amenity and a green roof to slow the movement of water through the site owing to the high water table in the area. The interiors of the public spaces are light filled with skylights and full height glazing throughout.
The triangular tower plans and side-core placement allow for optimal core to perimeter depths for both open plan and closed office arrangements, while maintaining flexibility for single and multiple tenants. The small tower floor plates and the full height, high-performance clear glazing allows deep daylight penetration for all office floors.

This scheme emphasizes an inward focus and organises a large central atrium which unites the 2 towers. This concept stemmed from a study of the traditional nomadic housing used throughout Kazakhstan - the yurt. The structures are circular in plan and maintain a clean, open volume inside. In embracing this rigorous and pure geometry, there is an ambiguity created concerning the overall reading of the tower as two distinct entities or a single sculpted form. This duality is reinforced and exploited by the placement of stacked vertical gardens which are shared by either tower, and have a direct relation to the interior void.

From the exterior, the tower becomes a fluid translation of the landscape - a perceptual deformation of the massive steppes which exist throughout the country. To accomplish this, the large mass of parking directly adjacent to the tower is covered by a rolling berm that wraps into the outermost envelope of the building. This second skin wraps up and engulfs the two buildings, serving not only to unify the towers but also provide a strong platform for the creation of a high efficiency building system. Interior air circulation and daylighting control would all be monitored through the plenum of the two skins creating optimal working environments for the people inside.

По мне так E/Ye Design и второй вариант Swanke Hayden Connell Architects - рулят! Правда в условиях суровой астанайской зимы второй проект Swanke Hayden Connell Architects - явно проигрывает... Эти "надрезы" и открытые пространства между блоками - явно увеличат затраты на отопление здания...

Если бы везде ставили коробки не было бы смысла в этом форуме.
Небоскребы не всегда шедевры, можно строить невысокие, но эксклюзивные проекты (без клонов). Пример: Foster Towers, и вообще AFD.
Его собираются строить где-то по дороге в аэропорт (по моей просьбе одноклассники там рыщут в поисках какой-либо инфы по проектам). Очень надеюсь, что будет полезная информация. Если честно, Айбек тебе можно было бы проехатся с фотиком по левому берегу, отфоткать самые масштабные проекты. Мы бы тебе спасибо сказали. :)

Нет, а проект мне нравится. Очень оригинальный и красивый. Вообще Ellinger и Yehia - молодцы - восходящие звезды архитектуры. Они прославились и сделали свою карьеру именно по Казахстану.

Да, живых фоток Астаны нам здесьочень не хватает!
