In 1908, Greensboro had the largest indoor arena south of New York City. It was called the Hippodrome and was located in downtown Greensboro. That was an extremly large arena for the times and had 3,000 less seats than todays Greensboro Coliseum. The Hippodrome was over 400 feet long and almost 200 feet wide.
