I only had a few hours to explore Bonn, but it was quite nice. Less historic and charming than other German cities, as it was more modern. The market and city centre were quite busy as it was a warm Saturday afternoon.
Bonn was the former capital of the Federal Republic of Germany (previously, West Germany) and lies on the river Rhine some 20 km south of Cologne. Bonn is best known culturally as the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven.
