andysimo123 February 14th, 2008, 11:09 AM There is a thread some where, I no that for sure. I posted images from the top of it afew years ago.
skyhigh247 February 15th, 2008, 09:54 PM Are you sure this isn't called City Central? I have a brochure on the current apartments when the building was renamed City Central and if you check, apartments that are for sale in their are also called 'City Central'. I think the North Tower name is from it's office use origins.

Comdot February 15th, 2008, 09:59 PM north tower will do. it certainly is a hotel. whether it is now not 100% so i don't know but look at the travel inn sign for clues!

It's not a hotel. The bottom half is the hotel and the top half is seperate like Beetham Tower and has been for at least 8 years. It's offical name is City Central and has been for nearly a decade. When it ceased being an office building, the name North Tower was dropped, so let's have it's correct name please.
skyhigh247 February 15th, 2008, 10:18 PM More clarification, the tower is called City Central with the apartments name City Heights, i have just been informed.
Comdot February 15th, 2008, 10:41 PM very interesting. thanks. i will try to find a verifyable published source for this and will surely get round to making its current name city central and leave its former name as north tower.
thread title changed please :)

I'm just wondering who the management company is for the apartments side of it. Royal Mail also have the apartments side listed as City Heights from the 12th floor up, but the hotel side has their 'hotel apartments' or something in their bit. I won't bother ringing Premier Lodge as i can't see their staff being that accurate.
Does anyone on here live in this building?
On a separate note, the views from this building are amazing and it's a pity the exterior doesn't match up. Maybe removing the Premier Lodge signs would be a start. When the apartments were first completed, the brochure and a feature in a small local magazine made them look great. It's a shame the building looks so cheap and tatty now.
mr_smith February 16th, 2008, 01:00 AM The management company is Living city, there have been huge problems with the service charge. about 80% of the flats have not paid a single penny since they were sold! Living city have stated that they are running the building at a loss. The inside is very tatty - they refuse to do it up on the grounds of the non payment of service charge and people refuse to pay on the grounds of living city refusing to do any maintanence work so its a bit of a viscious cycle.

However the main culprit is crosby homes who own the building: not only did they forget give residents a legal share of the management, they have allowed the fabric of the building to deteriorate, the whole building suffers from damp with paint flaking/crumbling everywhere.
Still Living city are in the final throws of getting the money off the owners of the flats so things are looking up.
Premier Inn are putting purple neon round the top+new illuminated signs (theres currently a tempory one) also I belive that the building is at some point due for windproofing so things are looking up (however the jury's out on how the new purple lift shaft will look)
if only it could be renovated with the same care as 111 piccadilly!
As for the name of the flats city heights is the most used however it ranges from north tower to city central to even premier tower

As it used to look - I think the stripe effect on the lift was much better, however I never saw it in person untill after the renovation
Chogmook February 16th, 2008, 05:39 PM Purple Neons on this, Pink ones on the Arndale, should look good at night!
Comdot February 16th, 2008, 06:09 PM yeah i posted about the neon sign including the planning app but nobody seemed to notice

I hope the money is made available for tidying up. This building could offer a lot of promise. With great views and apartments that can be smart, it seems a shame to let the building itself become shabby as it could be real value for money. Are the lifts reliable in the tower and is there parking?
mr_smith February 16th, 2008, 11:22 PM lifts are very reliable, they've been split so 2 serve the residential floors, and 2 the hotel. However the hotel can also access the 23rd which is the top occupied floor (only if they use service keys) on every other residential floor where the hotel lifts would have stopped it has been walled up. There is parking but they were sold separately. Again its split with the hotel. Many of the flats have been refurbished and look very nice, they have huge potential. If you believe living city that the service charge issues will be sorted you can pick up quite a bargain for the location.

Yes it has fantastic views and a great location for all the best shops around that end of Deansgate and of course, trains, trams and the MEN Arena.
