Not a very clean design I think, but slim towers like this usually has a good effect on the skyline.

I just wish that it wasn't always this 'empty' area in front and then a podium before the towers start rising. I know of the setback rules and how they want sunshine to reach the streets but there's also a need for an urban feeling with wide sidewalks next to shops at the ground floors of the buildings. A lively streetscape where people want to walk around and do things. Maybe this particular project isn't so bad though, I don't know, just a little rant.

You are right Jo. New York's skyline is matched by it's amazing public streetlife - not here (yet!) although sois can be very lively in a different way....

This street really needs a sidewalk for pedestrians. There are so many condos in this area and so many cars. Being forced to walk in the street is not so safe

It is because our urban planning is suck. We have many condos in a narrow alley and

also a narrow sidewalk.

Yes, agree Bangkok sois need sidewalks for pedestrians to walk on, but sidewalks have to be better constructed. I walk on Sukhumvit soi 26 which has sidewalks on both sides of soi, but the sidewalk is cut in many places, whereever there is access to a house or building, the sidewalk stops and you have to step down to the street level and after a few steps, then step up to the sidewalk again. The problem is, the difference between the sidewalk level and the street level is sometimes a foot high(30 cm) and it's damned tiring to go constantly down and up, down and up, etc., so what many walkers do is just walk on the street level. Then the sidewalk has all these obstructions -- food hawkers and their tables, telephone polls and booths, trees, power line poles, road signs -- all randomly sited anywhere on the sidewalk and so you can't walk a straight line, just dodging left and right, ducking your head, down and up, etc.

You planners need to design a sidewalk where the access to a house or building is built up to near the sidewalk level, and at a soi/subsoi intersection, the sidewalk has a gradual slope down to the road level. And a bit better night lighting. Luckily, not any dog pooh; none that I've stepped on anyway.

It's not easy walking on Bangkok sidewalks.

With the bottom fallen out of the upscale rental market, am curious to know who'll be moving in there. (And it's further from public transport than Royce!)

Up until recently there was healthy demand for upscale serviced apartments large enough to accomodate families, mostly japanese.

I was told there were waiting lists at some key serviced apartments building. That would explain someone looking to add more supply to the market.

But supply shortages are no longer the case. Enrollment at the japanese school has dropped by a third and will likely drop further as executives with families are being replaced by single executives or family men who are forced to leave wife and kids back in Japan.

I believe those buildings on 39 will be finished but only some towers will be fully fitted out and decorated.

Top of building look like it's going to stay level, and won't have the sloping surfaces in the model. Not an attractive building at all - looks as if it will be all white, with blue-tint windows.
