IceCheese February 16th, 2008, 12:38 AM Helsfyr atrium
Oslo - Norway
Mid-summer last year the construction of this large office building started in the sort of booming district Helsfyr. This building will consist of multiple buildings merged into one, all with different heights. They are kind of like bananas in a bundle or whatever.
The total construction peroid is from July 2007 - 1st quarter of 2010.

PS, now will be the time for anybody to post construction pics. I just drove past there this weekend, but was in no time to take any photographs. Right now it seems like the main concrete structure is closing up to completion.
kjetilab February 19th, 2008, 09:59 AM The height for this building will be 54 metres btw. That's sorta tall for a new Norwegian building...
I was up at the site in mid january and there was only a really big hole in the ground. Not strange since they're building a 3 story basement. Hard to find a good spot to take pictures from as well... (Try to get into Helsfyr Panorama. Great view from there:tongue2: )
Þróndeimr February 26th, 2008, 10:54 PM Construction photos from mid-february:
Took a small biketrip around the valley, took some construction fotos too:

Oh, noticed it now, i would Love to walk up there! Especially with a little storm making it a little more of an experience!
IceCheese April 12th, 2008, 06:58 PM I passed the site yesterday (today) at a quarter to one at night. There was construction activitiy and the cranes were moving. I guess the time-schedule is pretty tight. My night-vision cell-phone was a little hard to keep still, but you can at least see that a third concrete base-tower has been risen.

We should probably join the bad photographs-club together. I'm starting to wonder how much other forumers get out of our "updates"
Ingenioren April 17th, 2008, 11:50 AM Yup! Probably only us that cares about it anyway. Btw. is this building nice? Personally i hate it, this is a real wall, and not a nice one! I like the concrete towers tough. Hope they build it really slow;P
Þróndeimr April 17th, 2008, 12:12 PM  phones is way too popular around here! My friend claim that digital cameras is out and that i have to get a new phone, the quality will apparently be just as good! :D
I guess it looks good on a 2inch wide screen though!
Can't really see damn many details in them pics there, but i think i can see some concrete, and maybe a crane... ;)
Ingenioren April 17th, 2008, 12:20 PM Yup! Mine is better, only i used a real camera trough the window, shot from a few kms away. I will take a better shot next time i pass it;P There are 2 large cranes and 4 concrete towers;D I guess some phones can shot better pics than i can with my cam.
They was really impressive when i passed them a few months ago:

kjetilab May 17th, 2008, 02:34 AM That's quite right. But it will look pretty impressive when you're driving on the E6 towards the city centre.
dexter26 May 17th, 2008, 02:09 PM Can't say I like it very much. But I guess something even worse could've been built in that location, so I won't complain THAT much.
bardez June 6th, 2008, 11:06 AM Yup! Mine is better, only i used a real camera trough the window, shot from a few kms away. I will take a better shot next time i pass it;P There are 2 large cranes and 4 concrete towers;D I guess some phones can shot better pics than i can with my cam.

No pics, sorry... forgot about this place until I was doing a search on the building...
Ingenioren June 8th, 2008, 07:21 PM You are right, and here is how they look from my window, with they're location in the skyline, this time you can see a bit more details the concrete tower in the middle is new:

This is the western banana, the shortest one - but at the moment the tallest:

Seeing them from the north, it will have its slimmest side towards the fjord.

From the east, Road 190, Strømsveien in front. This is the side off the tall and fat facade:

IceCheese August 7th, 2008, 07:25 PM Nice update. I actually like the angle of the last pic. It's very urban. Too bad it was ruined by a Swedish car, though...
Ingenioren August 17th, 2008, 07:15 PM Its location in the Helsfyr skyline:

Great updates as always Ingenioren!

Grauthue May 8th, 2009, 02:54 PM ^^
This is one sexy building I tell you. There is plenty of space around for a bigger cluster so I have high hopes for this area given a few years.
I've noticed how they have illuminated the building with different coloured lights in the night sometimes. Anybody knows if this is a permanent "feature", or is it just during the construction phase?
Ingenioren May 8th, 2009, 03:12 PM I've seen that to, i have no idea :) Let's hope it will be permanent :D Something like this would be nice ;)
WSEGVYmGk7o
http://www.creativereview.co.uk/crblog/dexia-tower-and-the-light-fantastic/
Anyway I had a view on the tower from my bedroom-window and I basically watch the tower come alive, I was sad in the beginning, and here’s my point, almost anywhere in town you can see the tip of the Dexia (= bank) tower. Why was it sad in the beginning? Well the highest fierest tower in town takin’ on the sky all alone, sittin’ up high there standing in the darkness…
Now it has become a beacon, a proud signal of a reviving city and society, striving for avant-garde and helping people orientate and never wait in the dark ever again..
I hated the tower at first, especially because i saw it for way too long, and it was going nowhere but up, now with the permanent light-installation is has become more an object of joy than a too big (compared to it’s surroundings) tower wanting to be seen.
Nimby weapon? Makes me think about the Nydalen project will never come close to something like this because it's appartments, but an office building like Helsfyr could easily have a light-show when all the workers have gone home...
Grauthue May 8th, 2009, 03:17 PM Or like this

Ingenioren May 8th, 2009, 03:39 PM Funny one :)
I'm guessing the nabouring residents will tear down city hall before letting anything like this happend... Like the fight over light-commercials around the city ... ;P
Mulefisk May 10th, 2009, 06:31 PM Such a nice building.
It's a shame it's so suburban in its facade. While it looks great from a distance, up close it's pretty much like every other suburban office building in Oslo, only taller. A wall of windows that meets grass.
Ingenioren May 12th, 2009, 07:06 PM The best angles are probably from Ekeberg:

Grauthue May 12th, 2009, 07:15 PM If a certain football club could get going with this as well, then the neighborhood would be totally sweet

Irios May 11th, 2010, 02:22 AM I came across this forum thread when googling for the address to this building.... and I figured it would be a nice gesture to the fans of this building to post a quick gigapixel photo I made while I was doing a job there (I work as a photographer)...

I have a large number of really nice interior and exterior shots from this building. Lemme know if you are interested, and I'll ask the landlord if I may publish these photos.
P.S. I'm going back there soon to do a new gigapixel photo from the neighboring high rise, Helsfyr Panorama. Then you'll be able to see Helsfyr Atrium as well.
