I thought we needed an own thread for photo-updates. Here we can post all kinds of photos of construction going on in Norway, without spaming other threads with every minor development or small changes.

Cool, in the beginning i was actually hoping too post much of that in the other threads, construction updates for high-rises in the All new Norwegian highrises - thread, and for everything else in the Norway | Projects and Construction - thread, to keep them more active, which haven't happend much yet! :D

But a thread for construction updates alone will probably be better, so we know where we have it! Ill post something when i have something too!

Yes, but in that case, this should be in the "photos"-thread....

Btw, helsfyr atrium just called and said they feel left out.

I think it works well here. Its about construction, not photographing.

Btw, helsfyr atrium just called and said they feel left out.

Oh yeah..? Well then, the idiot-store called, and they said they were out of YOU, and that you are their bestseller! ;)

Impressive to see Helsfyr Atrium going up that fast after so many years of waiting. :)

This isn't the biggest project nationwide, but important to the local area. LIV (Leksvik Industriell Vekst) is almost completed with their new 1 650sqm building next to they factory. This was the earlier Pipelife factory, about 10 000sqm large and had over 100 employees. But they moved all their production to Sunndalsøra in 2003. LIV is a new little company who took over the factory building, consisting of 25 different high-tech firms with 80 employees as today. Business is going really well, and one of the largest buildings on Fosen was not enough.

Some pics i took today.

Nice to see such growth outside of the citys. A cluster of 25 high-tech firms is quite impressive, but then again, Leksvik seems to have quite a history for having many/successful enterprises. Just imagine Leksviks growth if it was linked with Trondheim by a bridge or tunnel:)

Yes, and as of now it doesn't look like we're even getting the promised three ferries, but two ferries with less capacity than wanted! So growing industry won't get easier the next decades, though right now we're having some good times, as both LIV and another enterprice is increasing its building size massivly. :)

Nice! yes 7120 for Leksvik (Oras, Lycro, Elsafe, IndustriVerktøy, CNC Produkter is the bigger companies which might sound familiar to you?), but you might have been into 7125 which is Vanvikan where LIV holds and Lyng Gruppen's three firms!

A little construction update from "Nye E6 Sør" (New E6 South). Vist-Solli out of Steinkjer, first real 2x2 highway in Nord Trøndelag. 6km long, making it one km shorter as of today. Construction started as early as 1996, when they started blowing out the Løsberga mountain closest to Steinkjer. They should be done with their 15 year long work by next year!

New road will be 12km long, but half of it is already done, with a tunnel and the new road through downtown Steinkjer. Project cost; 1.04 billion Nok. Will be completed and opened in July 2009.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y136/cityw/Trondelag/DSC_0167small-1.jpg
About 500m of the new road is open for traffic, but just two lanes done.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y136/cityw/Trondelag/DSC_0172small-1.jpg
Not too much left of Løsberget now. Last year a 200 000kg large piece fell down on the E6 which was open for traffic at that time, luckly during the night, so nobody was killed.

Nice update-photos! The area in your first pic won't look good before they start developing the Sørenga-pir imo. The removement of the E18 is just a minor upgrade.
In your second pic, I think that the Helsfyr skyline looks better and more dense on this one than on the one from the Helsfyr Atrium-thread.
All the photos show a pretty decent amount of cranes. I like that.

As far as I've heard about Sørenga, they can't/won't start until the motorway is far gone. It's a step-by-step plan where the projects relies on eachothers completion.

Don't think you have to wait that long... The last edition of "byblikk", Oslo planning authority magasine stated it was likely to start construction at Sørenga-utstikker in the fall of 2009.

Don't know why they've put the crane there, but... If that whole area is the almenning it looks a bit wider than i tought it would....

This is the size of the area that is now up to 1/2 floors:
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k439/marshol/PB030740.jpg?t=1225728020

Seing it from the south side, clearly shows that there is an entrance for cars being constructed at the left-most of this pic. Iirc, this is on the west border of the bridge, but I won't bother to find a render of it now... Seing the construction pit form the south side, it seems clear that the whole are between crane 6 and crane 4 & 5 is the Stasjonsalmenningen-area..

Not much going on at the playground or at Vulcan?

What I don`t understand about Vulcan is why they havent gone really high there. They should at least have build high enough so there would be houses along Maridalsveien all the way to Telthusbakken/AHO.

The way it is now, it is a dead area in the middle of Oslo and it doesn`t look good :ohno:

Now it all ends with this ugly thingy

I meant Vulkan - but then the playground was empty aswell so... they have made a large hole there, and there's a poster saying it will be finished in 2010, but no rendering - and no workers or machines. Hey, where have you heard/read that it will not be built alongside maridalsveien, as far as i know the buildings will be upto 10 floors tall at the "backside" facing Maridalsveien with entrances in 4th. floor at streetlevel, but i may be mistaken, if you check the buildings on www.vulkanoslo.no U-floors are those located under maridalsveien level, while the floorcount starts from groundlevel Maridalsveien, so they are 6 floors, 0 floors, 5 floors, and 5 floors, so don't worry about that... :D

Here's the regulationplan for Vulkan:

But even if I don't contribute I thoroughly enjoy picture posts like this (even if I don't always comment them). Thanks. Lots of really interesting updates. That's not good - as much as i enjoy the density here, i am disappointed that there aren't taller buildings, since they are already robbing the streets of any sunlight. This type of quarter is hated by the smallscale-urbanists, but it doesn't satisfy the scraperfans, might aswell go all the way on pleasing the second group instead then...

Fantastic job Ingenioren. Very nice pics. Wish there would be some aerials of the Toyota building, cause that one is actually quite beautifull. I believe Snøhetta or Niels Torp drew that one up.

Great to see Løren and Økern moving along nicely. Just hoping that they continue now soon with both the big Steen & Strøm shopping mall next year and the further development of Løren. Love the exterior of the newest building on Løren, Lørenlunden. Just hope for i bit more taller building in the next steps, and perhaps with more roof terracces for each apartment. Otherwise every building in Oslo will look very much alike. Roof terracces are gold, but we also need a bit more variation in big projects. More tomter on the backside of Løren that probably wil be developed right after Lørenbyen is done im guessing. Hasle nearby is also getting som massive projects as we now when Arcus is moving out.

what is it that you dont like about it?

Its not a very interesting street piece is it? Its made for people living there, and thats it. I have no interest looking on peoples balconies. Place the fasade again the road and open up first floor for a shop or two, a cafee++ and place the balconies againt a gårdsrom instead.

yep, i agree completely as long as its not in the middle of nowhere..

then there wouldnt be much of a point.

i dont think it looks that bad, though.. ive seen MUCH uglier forms for residental housing!!

Take it from the local forumer - it's not that bad - i will consider moving somewhere like that later as a compromise since it's affordable to get a larger appartment and that my wife is a suburbanite, keep in mind we are only at the beginning of the development, and the density is not so bad considering the location in the middle of a district with mostly smaller (http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll218/Ingenioren/DSC_1672-1.jpg) houses, there are many of the buildings at 7 floors detached carré. The 4/8 floors "punkthus" buildings on the other side, aren't charming at all, overall it's visible that the districts is cheap, but it is trying with some individual buildings standing out atleast....

This is what Lørens main street has to offer so far:
Sinsen Clinic, Coop obs, 2 Schools, Kindergarden, Meny, Rema, Aquariumshop, 2 farmacists, jewelry, flowerstore, Sunstudio, 2 haircutters, 2 bookstores, drycleaners, Peppes Pizza, Asian restaurant, Kanonhallen culturehouse, Sinsen culturehouse, Peer Gynt sculpture park, car-rental, real estate agent, coffeebar. And naturally a few appartments and offices....

I don't understand what you're problem is with the balconies... :ohno:

I may just have forgot, but what's the plans for this plot?:
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k439/marshol/P9261342.jpg?t=1253987774

That will be Rom Eiendoms next project, like Barcode it will be a mix of offices and appartments with mostly offices in the west (http://romeiendom.no/article.php?articleID=21719&rootCategoryID=2245), and appartments in the east (http://romeiendom.no/article.php?articleID=21938&rootCategoryID=2245). And like Barcode it is supposed to be filled with smaller to-let locals in 1st floors. Doesn't seem to be any plans being treated by the city. We have only seen volume-renderings of big blocks at <10 floors.

I only say that its better when the balconies (imo) is turnes towards a gårdsrom. Since the size then doenst matter.

When that said, the balconies is the least of my "problems" with Løren.

Can't say i love what i see there! But have seen worse.

If i want a balcony where i am moving i want the balcony to have a little view in more than one direction (since you get the same view looking out any window), and i want to it fell like a place outside the building, since its more or less the only "garden"/outdoor space i will have.

So those balconies are not my favorite, most of them are almost inside the building, why not use the space for a bigger living room? Only good thing i see in that is that they are protected against winds from side directions.

Thats what i notice at a fast first look, but hey atm i live on a place similar to a top-floor 320m tall skyscraper and with 20da garden/field in front, so why the hell would i move to a shithole like that! ;)

I'm wondering though, if it's possible to see, now that it's up, how long does it look distance wise? When I first saw the renderings I was worried that it would be too long and desolate for people to really bother to cross.

I just love how this building "completes" Professor Aschehougs plass, rather than having a random open space at this intersection. The baby-blue building "behind" this new hotel is so ugly, it never should've been built, and after they teared down the old building, it has nagged me more than ever. This covers it up nicely, while also giving a much better continuation of Grensen/Kristian IVs gate.:)

And while we're at it. If you, Ingenioren, were here just yesterday, how can you not have noticed what kind of pavement Grensen had?!

Seemingly, the architect bureau has changed names (and architects have changed partners). Intial papers state "Eriksen & Marlow AS", but newer papers have "Marlow og Ramfelt - A38 arkitektur og design AS" on them. Link to latest: http://www.a38arkitekter.no/

Gladengveiens first step to becomming a street has been made with real sidewalks, now all we need is for the developpers to fill this stretch with new buildings:

Thanks for the nice updates, i'm wondering about the landingpoint of the bridge, looks like it will run right into the round-about there - but maybe i'm wrong? there could easily let it cross the road and river with a ramp leading down aswell. Considering the high number of bikes using this route it's worth making a good solution at once instead of leaving this bottleneck.

^ I've seen it a few days ago passing on the bus 31 and i was wrong, it's being tied up to the E18 bridge and therefor this will be a true expressway for cyclists. (Altough short..)

Here is a photo of Klemetsrud wastefacility, when finished it will allow Oslo to recycle it's general waste to organics burned for fuel. (Unbelievable we still don't have it, Halden has been doing this for atleast 15 years... ) Anyhow the structure is huge, and the factory height equals that of Pwc (I think.)

Some Skanska project, but I'm not sure which. There's to much digging going on on this peninsula!

Not much activity on Fornebu technoport still.. Notice how Statiol adds to the skyline, though:)

I'm not sure this street has what it takes to ever be urban. And why isn't it signposted as Ring 3? All Rings must end at E18?

Holmenkollen update, from a distance:D

New Holmenkollen lacks the impact of old Holmenkollen, the old one was highly visible, the new one sort of hides itself away, they need to paint it white to give it the visual impact of the old jump, it also looks unfinished when you see it close up.

I actually agree with you. It's been a failure, both artistically and economically imo.

^^I both agree and disagree. Try making the new one as visible by making it white would only be silly. Preferably, I think they should have kept the old one as a symbol and rather made a/the new one some other place up there. But when they first teared the old one down there is was no point making a halfway copy. But, least they could do was to make the new one as it was devised with a light beam continuing up the sky.

The problem is the gap between the white shining proposal that won, and the grey steel structure we actually got. What we have is the poor man's version of what could have been a great icon. It has some greatness to it, but in general the wow-effect is for the steel engineers, and not the tourists..

As Kiwibob pointed out it is hardly visible from the city at daytime, so in a way, Oslo have lost an icon :ohno:

How it was supposed to be:

I feel the opposite way, at first i didn't like the proposal, but now that it has materialized - it's brilliant. No way it should be painted, grey suites it well. For the critisism:
1) Can't see it from city-centre anymore? Really, it's a larger structure so i wonder...
2) Appears unfinished? Well... It is!

The lightbeam would have only been visible on foggy weather, and defenetly not in daytime as the picture shows. But I agree that it's not the iconic clearly visible landmark I was hoping for.
