Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Enrique Ona on Friday, February 10, 2012 visited his home town and attended the executive conference with Zamboanga del Sur officials headed by Governor Antonio Cerilles and other regional and provincial health officials held at the Subanen Hall, Farmer’s Haven, Provincial Government Center, Dao, this city.


The conference was highlighted with a presentation of “Kalusugan Pangkalahatan” Implementation Plan, a Millenium Development Goals Breakthrough Strategic Plan for 2012 of the province, presented by Provincial Administrator Anthony Frederick Padayhag in behalf of Governor Antonio Cerilles who was on official travel to Manila.


In his presentation, one of the new approach made by the provincial government to attain the MDG, is the investment of P250-million by way of loans to improve its hospital, formerly the 50 authorized bed capacity provincial hospital into a 350-bed capacity Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center of which 250 of these are private rooms.


The provincial government under Gov. Cerilles envisioned to make ZDSMC a fully equipped hospital that will serve not only the residents of the province but also the neighboring provinces and cities as well. To achieve this, the local government will enter into a partnership with DOH to acquire the necessary equipments and facilities that will make the Medical Center a fully equipped hospital, Padayhag explained...

Ang dugang nga pondo, matod niya, gamiton aron pag-hire sa dugang 13,000 magtutudlo, pagtukod ug pag-repair sa 45,231 classrooms ingon man ipalit ug 2.53 milyon school desks ug mga lingkoranan.

ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 16 (PIA) -- The National Government, in its effort to provide livelihood opportunities to poor households, has engaged with the local governments for projects which could be beneficial to the economy of the community as well as to provide income to poor households.

Zamboanga del Sur Province represented by governor Antonio Cerilles, Jr. and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-9) officials recently inked the Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) signifying its formal partnership for the Cassava Production Project which aims to benefit the farmers of the province.

In the said province, 600 households/farmers shall be tapped for the Cash-for-Work program. Farmers shall be paid P2,000 monthly for the planting and growing of cassava root crops.

The project shall be pilot-tested in six municipalities for a 10-month period. These municipalities are Pitogo, San Miguel, Kumalarang, Mahayag, Aurora and Pagadian City. Each area will have 100 farmers and beneficiaries and they shall also earn the produce.

Part of the agreement and as part of DSWD’s role is the transfer of funds in the amount of P3 million to the provincial government which shall be disbursed as cash-for-work funds for the farmers in accordance with project guidelines. DSWD shall also identify, organize and mobilize households who are covered by the Pantawid program as target beneficiaries as well as monitor implementation and provide technical assistance.

The provincial government through its agriculture office shall identify target areas and take the lead in the conduct of orientation and training of target beneficiaries on cassava production. The provincial social welfare and development office will also take part in the convergent effort by assisting in the social preparation of identified beneficiaries through the conduct of Family Development and Better Quality of Life Sessions (FDS and BQLs).

The government should make Pagadian at least comparable to neighboring cities in terms of Medical facilities and specialties. This could pave way to attract people from neighboring towns seeking medical care and increase businesses in our city.

Mao gyud na ang main problem is kwarta. Maka dismaya gyud kay nag trabaho ko as casual sa hospital for a few years wla nalang ko ga apas nga ma regular ug hadlok pag abot sa renewal. Pero if ang government mu prioritize lang unta sa basic needs sa population like health care dako kaau impact ni sa development sa region.

The problem is the expansion will be useless if kulang and personnel. It's better to have less bed's and more personnel so we can provide a better quality of care. Better quality of care meaning less ang stay sa patient sa hospital and more savings to both the patient and hospital. More spending for the patients towards Pagadian shopping than paying their health bills hehehehe

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will hold a Diskwento Fair on May 24 to 25 at the DTI premises along Platon S. Urro Street, to help ease the economic burden of low income earners and the marginalized members of the community from the rising cost of basic necessities and prime commodities.

In a press conference held this morning, DTI provincial director Ma. Socorro M. Atay said the Diskwento Fair will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but she requested to extend it until 6:00 p.m. to give more time for busy people, not necessarily the employees because target beneficiaries are low income earners, non-wage consumers and Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.

Buyers would be issued control coupons since the amount of purchase is controlled to ensure that everybody can avail of the discounted prices of goods. Maximum amount of purchase is P1,500 per buyer.

“We asked the cooperation of the stores, as part of their corporate social responsibility to lower the prices of commodities intended for the 'Balik Eskwela' such as school supplies, and grocery products,” Atay said.

“The price tag that buyers see is already the discounted price so no need for the buyers to ask for a discount,” she added.

Atay said among those invited, eight manufacturers, suppliers, and grocery owners have pledged their participation namely: Ginebra San Miguel (fruit drinks and juices),Golden Daughter Enterprises (school supplies), D'Beam Citimart (school supplies), People’s Plaza (grocery products), CTM School Uniform and Supplies, Pagadian Taft Mart (grocery products), Best Emporium (grocery products), and Julie’s Bakeshop.

A Diskwento Caravan is also scheduled in Molave, Zamboanga del Sur on May 31 and on June 15 in Dumalinao, this province. (JPA/ALT-PIA9 Zambo Sur)

I am of the belief that "Politicians creates problems not solutions". So may I
suggest that lets limit the Politicians to two terms: One in office, and one in Jail. :lol::lol::lol:

DOLE Region 9 Assistant Director Virginia Bonbon said each beneficiary received a P15,000 seed capital for the livelihood venture. Bonbon said similar nego-karts were also distributed to traveling vendors in Dumalinao, Molave, and in this city.
