Hmm. Is this the first time there is an overview of Hague projects? Because I never knew so many nice buildings where being build. With all this project The Hague is getting a nice skyline, it already is one of my favourite cities! Hope to visit it soon!

New Hague Cultural Heart

Plans are afoot to transform the Spuiplein, the Nieuwe Kerk and the Rabbi Maarsenplein into the Spui International Cultural Forum by 2018.
The main focus of the plans, already discussed by the Mayor and Aldermen of The Hague, is a new music and dance centre on the
site of the present Lucent Danstheater and the Anton Philipszaal, which will be demolished in 2013.

According to a report by newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, the renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas has presented two designs.
The current favourite would be a 100-metre-high tower block housing the music and dance centres and the Royal Conservatorium,
as well as a number of smaller venues. The Koolhaas plan also encompasses the surrounding areas, which will form a single cultural zone.

The cost is estimated at 240 million euros and the hope is that this investment in a new ‘cultural heart’ will help The Hague to realise
its ambition to become Cultural Capital of Europe in 2018. The low-budget Lucent Danstheater and the Anton Philipszaal, built in
the late 80s, have not withstood the test of time.

DEMOCRACY

The Hague city council wants to locate the House for Democracy and the Constitutional State temporarily above Cafe Dudok. As permanent location, The Hague is considering a new property on the corner of Spui and Kalvermarkt. The council will shortly confer with the home affairs ministry on the proposal. The House for Democracy is an initiative of the cabinet, which will make a permanent 3.5 million euros available. From the next academic year, a start will be made with programmes for 25,000 schoolchildren a year. From 2012, the house is to be completely ready.

Maar eerst was ik nog even vergeten te posten de vorige keer dat bij het info centrum mij werd verteld dat de bouwer een nieuwe techniek gaat toepassen bij toren 1 waardoor de vertraging met een half jaar worden ingelopen. Ik weet niet precies wat het precies inhoud, maar het zou mooi zijn als ze het ook echt gaat lukken natuurlijk. Anyway, naar de plaatjes, geen toren 1 aangezien ik het niet beter kan dan fotojohnny. :)

^^ It is hard to tell, though I'm going to give you some sources. Perhaps you can give a verdict?


- At first there was only an idea to build a tower of just over 100m. It's a good location for a development, since it is located between the city centre en the Central Station/Mortorway A12. No 'real' design was shown, btw [page 20] (http://kant.leeuwarden.nl/ris/documentoriginal.asp?oid=68AC65D3-D878-4E58-8303-EB2B53C78FC6).

- A few years later the next article appeared on the internet:
ING Real Estate Development and IPMMC Vastgoed have become the joint owners of the BelleVue building, for the sum of € 21.1 million, situated in the centre of The Hague.

- Meyer&VanSchooten Arch. (http://www.meyer-vanschooten.nl/) was given the opportunity to design the tower (first picture of post 49). It was approximately 130m tall, just under the local height restrictions (140m).

- Then, in 2008 this site has become a height-restriction-free-zone. You can read that in this Dutch newspaper item (http://www.ad.nl/ad/nl/1040/Den-Haag/article/detail/295918/2008/11/26/Groen-licht-voor-hoge-torenflats.dhtml).

- The new renders of Meyer&VanSchooten Arch. can also be seen in Post 49 [# 2 & 3].

180-200 would be ideal for that location. :)

I don't like any of the released designs for Bellevue. They should build a tower of 200 meter in the same style as the nearby Hoftoren. The line of the Hoftoren's crown should be continued in this new building, with the highest point on the Bezuidenhoutseweg/Rijnstraat.

However, i guess the development of this location will be delayed for several years because of the creditcrunch. :sleepy:

New location proposed for Eurojust

Published: 16 December 2010 Modified: 04 January 2011

The Municipality of The Hague and the State have offered Eurojust a new location in the International Zone. The proposed spot is on the Jan Willem Frisolaan near the World Forum where a high school (Maris College) is currently located.

Eurojust is a European Union organisation and is currently located in two buildings in the Binckhorst area of The Hague. The aim of Eurojust is to improve the fight against serious cross-border crime by facilitating the optimal coordination of action for investigations and prosecutions.

If the European Union in Brussels gives the project a green light and the State and Eurojust sign a cooperation agreement, work on the new building’s design can already begin at the beginning of next year. The building should fit in with the neighbourhood and have a large green outdoor space. The new design plans for approximately 18,000 square metres of office space and a parking garage.

Plans call for construction on the building to start in the first quarter of 2014 and for the organisation to take up operations there by the end of 2015.
