Happy Fiesta ug kita kits sa kadayanan.

Good morning shaun. How was the 09.09.09 countdown last night? didto an ako dyaga sanan ulitawo, tagaktak ako P300.:)

haha cge rakan. ayos karajaw... ni uyan but dili kusog sanan bugto bugto. but naa mi 4 nga tents tapos dagko sad ug daan man pod gi announce sa mc nga reserba incase man uyan.. but pag 12midnyt til na end mga 4am waya nay uyan.... lingaw tanan... at least gitagaan ug value ang 09.09.09.. gruppo tribale from bacolod rocks! a lil disappointed with the results. 2nd ra ako manok. hahahahaha ang SWCES. no doubt they're the crowd favorite and the most applauded na bagan everytime they changed there steps hugyaw perme ang mga tawo. grabe ka paspas na grabe ka dungan. but I'm happy with SNNHS kay dugay-dugay na isab sila waya kadaug. grabe ila mga sinina bagan dolyaris man jadto ang kantidad.

waya mosaler sa surigao ang buyog na daya nan taga abuyog, leyte. hapit pa sila ma peldi sa mga kayabang nan GL hahahaha

but as a whole, though gamay ra ang contingents but sulit ang time kay perte jud ka mga bagtik. even butuan, ang Mis Or.

in my side carl, agree ako sa result simply because recycled na ang performance sa sweces and general luna..dili sad siguro fair if sila gihapon machampion..

my comments sa surigao high..the dance does not have much impact sa crowd kay dili paspas ila sajaw and the costumes were not that attactive..dull an ija colors..

but i saw a different choreography na lahi sa iban..an concept will relate sa bonok bonok and that made them unique..:cheers:

Surigao High grabs 1st place in Bonok-bonok Festival 2009

The contingent of Surigao del Norte National High School (SNNHS) walked away triumphant from this year's Bonok-bonok Maradjaw Karadjaw Festival after bagging the championship crown in the competition held Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the newly refurbished Sen. Robert Z. Barbers Memorial Sports Complex.

In this year’s festival, SNNHS contingent brought with them P250, 000 as their winning prize. The Tribu Hiyas Kabataan from Surigao West Central Elementary School was named as 1st runner-up with P200, 000 cash prize. The 2nd runner-p was the festival from Abuyog town in Leyte, the Buyogan Festival, that won a P150,000 cash prize while the Tikyabang Festival from Gen. Luna town was named as 4th runner-up with P100,000 cash prize.

Also, special awards for Best in Choreography and Best in Street dancing all went to SNNHS contingent. Furthermore, special award for Best in Musicality went to Abuyog, Leyte while special award for Best in Costume went to Tribu Hiyas Kabataan of SWCES.

It was learned that contingent from Tacloban City opted not to join from the competition because of some health concerns. Cabadbaran and Cantilan also backed out for some unknown reason.

“Mixed emotions,” Dr. Dulcissima Corvera, SNNHS Principal, described her initial reaction. “We weren’t expecting to win.” She then thanked all the donors, students, teachers and parents for the support.(PIA-Surigao del Norte)

i agree! and bagan dry ra sab karajao ila color. kung waya ang mga buyog, you wont appreciate it.

I wonder if the costs that the the people spend during this week long celebration, be it in the private or government sector is compensated by the economic activity generated by the Bonok Bonok Festival?

amo sab pero in a long run man gud, maka help man gihapon ini kay it's one way of promoting our respective festivals man lagi pero we cant blame pud sa LGU na dili mo participate most specially kung kulang jud ug support. anyway, i would say na with a small number of entries, kulang jud sa promotion. even kuman, dili nimo ma feel ang bonok-bonok festival atmospher. :bash:, again, useless ang pagpadala sa mga tourism representative to attend any tourism events kay waya man nila ma apply.

im not really familiar of how the foundation works. pero mabati ra ini sila during ra jud sa festival. for the second time, former lyndon barbers announced his resignation as chairman of the foundation. i dont know lang if Mayor pons would accept such. but in case, kinsa napud kaha puli? for the very first time also may entrance fee na sa sports complex during the festival which ok kaayo atleast may income ang foundation pero with the amount of 20.00 murag gamay ra to siya kaayo.

As he bid farewell to the City in 2010, the country’s Most Outstanding City Mayor Pons Casurra now have a monumental legacy for the Surigaonons, as President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo finally signed the Special Patent No. 3745 declaring the One Million Sixty Four Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty (1,064,760) Square Meters or more or less 106 hectares area in Nonoc Island be donated in favor to the City Government. The said area covers the entire location of the Special Economic Zone where all Philnico facilities are situated.

The Special Patent will now give the City Government its absolute ownership and rights of the area which would provide full authority to transact and negotiate whoever interested investors who wanted to re-operate the mothballed Nickel Refinery in Nonoc Island.

City Mayor Alfonso Casurra in an exclusive interview with Island Post, this is one of the most significant success stories rendered by his administration since he assumed office as city’s chief executive.

“We are doing this effort since 2006 and now, it was finally granted in our favor… I am so proud and happy to tell the Surigaonons of this development” he said.

In 1999 during the incumbency of deposed President Joseph Estrada, a Presidential Proclamation No. 172 and 192 has been signed and issued by the latter, declaring the same area be conveyed to the City of Surigao but still needs a Special Patent for its absolute ownership.

The Land Management Bureau under the office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) had thoroughly reviewed and approved all the technical descriptions and come up with a recommendation to Environment Secretary Lito Atienza. The DENR favorably indorsed the same to the office of the President and Pres. Arroyo herself finally signed the Special Patent just recently.

Casurra further revealed that the only regrettable part in that considered blue-chip investment in Nonoc Island is that, despite the efforts taken by the city government and its officials to attract foreign investors, they don’t have the luxury time to materialize the re-opening of the mothballed nickel refinery because of the various obstacles and stumbling blocks encountered during the negotiation period.

But still the city was able to collect taxes out from the extraction of ores in the Nonoc area which will be transported to foreign lands.

He, however, expresses high hopes that the next national and city administrations will be able to push through another leap of development in that said area in Nonoc Island to somehow bring back the life of the nickel plant to provide a brighter economic future for the Surigaonons, Casurra said.

In related development, various supporters claimed that Special Patent 3745 be tagged as a “CASURRA LEGACY”, the mayor simply replied “WELL HISTORY WILL JUDGE ME ON THAT”…

The conduct of the feasibility study for the formulation of a strategic railway development plan for Mindanao will be finished within this year, this was the information relayed by Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Usec. Guiling Mamondiong.

During the Regional Development Council (RDC)’s 129th meeting at the Liga City Convention Center recently, the DOTC presented its strategic Railway Development Plan for Mindanao, pre-feasibility studies and technical assessments for the different railways section which is targeted for completion the 3rd quarter of this year.

According to the initial strategic railway development plan for Mindanao, the project aims to connect urban centers and provincial capitals in Mindanao such as Zamboanga, Pagadian, Dipolog, Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, Marawi, Cotabato and Davao cities.

Three private consultancy firms—the TCGI Engineering, DMI Management Engineering and Woodfields Incorporated were named and tasked to conduct the study for the Mindanao Railway System (MRS) within five months.

At present, only the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Corridor has finished its full-scale feasibility study while that of the Cagayan de Oro-Davao-General Santos line is ongoing and that of Iligan-Zamboanga City line is still in the technical assessment level.

When realized, travel time in the 145-kilometer Iligan-Cagayan de Oro route will be shortened by 15-20 minutes in contrast to the present three-hour travel time by bus.

During the RDC meeting, the MRS was considered a priority project as members felt the need to have a fast, efficient and cost effective integrated public transport system for Mindanao.

Last January, several Mindanao lawmakers recommended to President Gloria Arroyo the funding for the construction of the MRS.
The congressmen, led by Speaker Prospero Nograles have been pushing for the MRS project for the island’s accelerated growth and development.

by looking at the map, murag layo kaayo ang byahe kung CdeO-BXU-Sur. Dapat Unta by Municipality ang station niya. Like for example, from CdeO dapat naay substation sa may Balingasag then to Gingoog. Then followed by Mun of Carmen ADN, then Nasipit, kahit wala nay Buenavista.. then BXU... after BXU, Cabadbaran, Kitcharao and Surigao.. on the other portion.. dapat butangan og substation sa may brgy Ampayon BXU... para going to Davao and on the other side to Surigao... dapat ana unta naa tana substation.. kay mag unsa nalang ang mga passengers sa Jabonga, Santiago kung walay substation sa Kitchara, mo deretso lugar sa Surigao.. samot kalayo... hehehe.... :ohno::ohno:

Robert Z. Barbers Sports Complex na baja ang name ani?

I dont think so but then again basin "unofficial name" nija. Remember the Deed of Donation of the VASQUEZ family requires that the sports complex be named after the family, hence Vasquez Sports Complex, pero nususgot ra sila na Provincial Sports Complex. Kun utrohon an ngayan, the Vasquez family can revoke the donation and claim back the lot.

I dont think that was the same presentation of Abuyog in Sinulog and Aliwan. I was also disappointed sa ila performance as i had high expectations being champions in two festivals.

same here. i saw the abuyog contigent in aliwan at youtube ug lahi ra ila performance ug costumes. but ang ila pud tag pagdaya diri, mao pud ang nag champion sa 2008/2009 Abuyog Festival.

Road maintenance fund to benefit 5 provincesBy MIKE U. CRISMUNDO
September 9, 2009, 7:44pm

BUTUAN CITY – In line with the economic development in Southern Philippines, at least five provinces in Mindanao have been chosen for road maintenance funding by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid).

The five provinces chosen to benefit in this project are Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Norte in the Caraga Region), and the provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental in Region 10, it was learned.

The DILG together with the AusAid already signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) during separate occasions with the concerned local government units (LGUs) in the said five provinces.

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Rod Smith and DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Austere Panadero sealed the partnership with the concerned LGUs in the five provinces in the Caraga Region and Region 10.

The MoA entered into is for the Provincial Road Management Facility (PRMF) program.

It was gathered that PRMF is a governance reform program that will use road maintenance funding as an incentive to change.

The project will provide funding to selected provinces for building capacity of key provincial departments for improved asset management, selective rehabilitation of existing core provincial roads and bridges and maintenance of core provincial roads in conjunction with national, municipal and barangay (village) roads.

The PRMF process was a rigorous one, but the commitment to road maintenance and the dedication to good governance by the provinces were also considered as basis in selecting the provinces.

Panadero said that Region 10 and the Caraga Region are blessed to be the provinces included in the roster of beneficiaries for the PRMF project.

He said the project aims to form synergy in the Northern and Northeastern Mindanao provinces.
