Philex upbeat on prospects of Surigao mine

PHILEX Mining Corp., the country's largest mining firm, recently unveiled the initial mineral resource estimates for its Bayugo project, showing good prospects for its gold and copper mining site in Surigao del Norte.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the company said that external consultants and in-house geologists have made an initial estimate of 85.7 million dry metric tons (dmt) of indicated resource with 0.88 percent copper per ton and 0.73 grams of gold per ton.

The experts also estimated 32.7 million dmt of inferred resource with 0.75 percent copper per ton and 0.63 grams of gold per ton.

Boyongan and Bayugo are within the Silangan property in Tubod, Surigao del Norte. Philex has a 50 percent interest in the property, which it acquired from mining firm, Anglo American.

The other 50 percent is held by Philex Gold Inc. (PGI), a Canadian-listed company that is in turn 81-percent owned by the Philex parent firm.

Philex and PGI are conducting more drillings in the Bayugo area to further define the resource and complete the pre-feasibility study, Philex president Jose Ernesto C. Villaluna Jr. said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

The Bayugo deposit is now comparable to the Boyongan deposit, which was previously announced at 104 million dmt of measured resource (with 0.80 copper grade and 0.99 grams gold per dmt) and 19.8 million dmt (0.79 copper grade and 0.70 grams gold per dmt) of inferred resource.

The exploration program at the Bayugo project is ongoing, and at the time of this mineral resource estimate, a number of “excellent” drill results have been received, which are not yet included in the estimate above, said PGI president Rogelio G. Laraya in a separate statement.

“Once the exploration program has been completed, the complete drill hole database will be used to make an estimate for an updated resource model,” Laraya said.

The positive development on Philex’s new prospect is expected to further improve the performance of its shares on the local bourse.

Philex’s share price has skyrocketed in recent weeks on the back of persistent rumors of a bidding war for control of the mining firm between the groups of businessman Manuel Pangilinan who runs Hongkong-based First Pacific Co. Ltd. and San miguel Corp. president and COO Ramon Ang.

Philex’s share price hit a high of P20 in recent weeks due to this rumor.

On the PSE Friday, Philex shares closed lower at P18 pershare, declining by 6.5 percent along with the broad decline in stock prices, with a total of P267 million changing hands. Riza T. Olchondra

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Tourism is coordinating with travel media and tour operators in informing potential tourists to Mindanao that Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, and Cotabato City are not part of the “main tourist circuit” in the region, Tourism Secretary Ace Durano said Wednesday.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared a state of emergency in these areas Tuesday, a day after over 40 people were massacred in Maguindanao in what was apparently an election-related incident.

"We really appreciated that the state of emergency was specified in Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat and Cotabato City. Itong mga lugar na ito ay di [These areas are not] part ng [of the] main tourist circuit in Mindanao which includes Camiguin, Siargao (surigao del norte), Davao and Cagayan de Oro," said Durano in an interview with INQUIRER.net on the side of the Philippine Tourism Congress at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City.

"Ang trabaho namin ngayon [Our work now] is to inform and coordinate with the travel media and tour operators that these areas are not part of our tourism circuit and our tourism circuits are stable, safe, and enjoyable," added Durano.

Durano described the massacre incident in Mindanao as an "isolated incident" although he recognized that this was not the first time that there was chaos in Mindanao.

"We make sure that there is a normal traffic of tourists in our tourist circuits in Mindanao. Hindi naman talaga kasama sa tourism circuit ang Central Mindanao [Central Mindanao is not really part of the tourism circuit]," said Durano.

In her speech before the tourism congress, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo praised the growth of the Philippines tourism industry, attributing this to the partnership of the private sector and the government.

"The biggest number of tourists comes from our neighboring Asian countries with Koreans, topping the list for several years. Also, there is a 500 percent growth of tourists since 2001 from China," said Arroyo.

"This tourism congress is not only the first compliance in the new tourism act but also to celebrate P555 billion of infrastructure investments in tourism," said Arroyo.

The Tourism Congress, a private sector consultative body, is tasked to assist the DoT in development, implementation, and coordination of tourism policies.

This year, RA 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009 was enacted to boost the tourism industry in the country, which can generate investment, foreign exchange, and employment.

Giants derail Realtors in Surigao del Norte

MANILA, Philippines - Purefoods caught up with Sta. Lucia at fifth place halfway through the KFC PBA Philippine Cup double-round elimination phase as the Giants topped the Realtors, 68-63, in their out-of-town duel at the Robert Barbers Memorial Sports Center in Surigao del Norte last night.

The Giants outperformed the Realtors in a low-scoring game and forced a tie between themselves with identical 5-4 win-loss records going into the second round of play.

The second round starts today with Purefoods and Sta. Lucia trailing league leader Alaska (8-1) by three games, second-running San Miguel Beer (7-2) by two and joint third placers Talk n Text (6-3) and Ginebra (6-3) by one.

Alaska and San Miguel take on Barako Bull and Burger King, respectively, at the Ynares Arena in Pasig today.

The Aces walloped the Energy Boosters, 99-83, while the Beermen whipped Whoppers, 117-99, in their first-round meetings.

Burger King starts the second round at 3-6 while Barako Bull is tied with Rain or Shine at 2-7 with Coca-Cola at the bottom of the heap at 1-8.

The last placer after the two rounds misses the playoff phase in this all-Filipino tourney topped by Talk n Text last year.

The Purefoods breached the .500 mark halfway through the elims as the Giants sustained their win-loss-win-loss ride in the tourney, emerging triumphant in the Surigao del Norte stop of the Phoenix Fuel PBA on Tour.

Kerby Raymundo and James Yap scored the first two baskets of the game and the Giants held on to the lead to the finish.

The Giants took the first quarter at 18-13, sat on a 33-26 cushion at halftime and roared to their biggest spread at 46-31 before completing the wire-to-wire win.

The Realtors came out flat from a six-day respite and suffered a first loss in their last three games.

Sta. Lucia ace guard Ryan Reyes struggled for only six points while key off-season acquisition Gabby Espinas went scoreless for the first time in an SLR jersey.

Kerby Raymundo led the Giants with 15 points with Paul Artadi and Roger Yap adding 10 apiece. Kelly Williams paced the Realtors with 16.

Kerby Raymundo led the Giants’ cause with 15 points, while Paul Artadi and Roger Yap had 10 each in Purefoods’ fifth win in nine outings to tie its victim at fourth place.

The Giants struggled from the field early on, shooting just 37 percent (13-of-35) in the first half.

Then again, the Realtors were even worst.

They shot 8-of-29 for 28 percent, allowing the Giants to take a 32-26 lead at the turn and control the game the rest of the way.

We meet with three chefs who strive to make sure each dish is as good as the last.

Shaun Anderson (Monk’s Grill)

Located at the base of Blackcomb in Whistler’s Upper Village, and featuring a huge sun-filled patio, Monk’s Grill is a perfect place to put your feet up and grab a cold one while sampling the varied menu after a day on the slopes. At Monk’s it’s not uncommon for guests to return after après and enjoy a grilled AAA steak or fresh seafood in the 120-seat dining room.

It’s an all day’s work for Shaun Anderson, who took the helm as Monk’s Executive Chef this past summer. Shawn and his large brigade of kitchen staff skillfully create what he describes as a fusion-style menu with a French/European background, to satisfy hungry patrons who frequent the patio, lounge, bar and dining room.

A Vancouver native who first got his taste of the kitchen through a high school program on Salt Spring Island, Shaun went on to train at Camosun College in Victoria before refining his skills at the prestigious Relais and Chateau-designated Hastings House Hotel, working with his mentor Marcel Kauer, then going on to work as a chef while backpacking in Australia. He then took the time to immerse himself in Thai cuisine, attending cooking classes during his travels in Thailand.

Lured back to B.C.by the opportunities leading up to the 2010 Winter Olympics, it was an easy decision for Shaun to relocate to the mountains for the chance to work at the world-class establishments while doing everything he loves in his spare time.

“Although Whistler has its ups and downs, there is no place I would rather be right now. We are truly spoiled – I mean, just look at the background around us,” he says.

In his down time, Shaun loves snowboarding and mountain biking or just relaxing by the many lakes in the Sea to Sky corridor with his girlfriend and his dog.

Milan Kocourek (The Mountain Club)

Born in Czech Republic, Milan Kocourek grew up in Ottawa and decided to expand his culinary opportunities and head west to Vancouver, where he spent years honing his skills working in the city’s top restaurants. There, he worked shoulder to shoulder with big-name chefs such as Rob Feenie. During his time in Vancouver, Milan often found himself spending days off in Whistler and when a job offer came his way up Highway 99, the move made perfect sense. He now runs the show at the fresh, modern Mountain Club Restaurant and Lounge.

At 30, the head chef has achieved all his culinary goals to date.

“I love what I do and it’s the satisfaction you get when you see people enjoy all the hard work you put into something that continues to inspire you,” he says.

“In a place like Whistler, you get to work with so many people, continually learning from each other.”

Working under fast-paced conditions, Milan and his team meticulously prepare for up to 180 guests per night, aiming to wow all who pass through. “Working so close with everyone in the back, you learn to work as a tight-knit family,” he says.

Milan is truly in his element when working with seafood, focusing on complementing the delicate flavors of the fresh fish and shellfish readily available just off the coast.

“I love all foods and get inspired by the chance to work with a variety of different ingredients that are in peak season,” he says.

Outside work, Milan likes to take full advantage of the vertical opportunities his surroundings have to offer by navigating his way down the mountain on his snowboard or downhill mountain bike.

Having already had a career that’s nothing short of extraordinary, 28-year-old Melissa Craig has become one of the leading names in Canada’s culinary world. American collared for abusing partner

BUTUAN CITY , Philippines – For allegedly calling his Filipina live-in-partner “prostitute, thief and a liar,” an American national was arrested by Surigao City police on Tuesday morning after complaints of violation of RA 9262 otherwise known as Anti-Violence law Against Women and Children was filed against the American.

Caraga Police Regional Information Office identified the American as Garry Lee Hardin, 54, and a resident of 1655 Fox Hollow CV Southaven, Mississippi, USA and presently renting an apartment at A.M. Mortiz Street, Surigao City.

The victim Evangeline Benedicto Dominguez, 35, resident of Purok 3, Barangay Billar, Surigao City complained that every time she failed to do routinary work such as giving the American body massage and “hot bath,” he would shout at her, to quote, “You are thief, liar and prostitute.”

Police said inquest proceedings for violation of RA 9262 has been filed against Hardin at the City Prosecutor’s Office, Surigao City docketed under I.S number NPS-XIII05-INQ-09K-00271. – Ben Serrano

What many do not see is that his victory through his project is an indictment of the failure of our education system in particular and the government in general. If you noticed the DEPED has not given recognition to this guy becuase his existince is a slap in their face. With the billions in their budget, DEPED has failed where penaflorida has succeeded.

Barbers, Casurra filed COC under NP

The Nacionalista Party who fielded a complete slate for Surigao del Norte’s elective posts from municipal councilors to mayors of the province’s 20 towns and one component city filed their respective COCs on Saturday, records obtained from the Surigao del Norte Provincial Comelec office showed.

Award winning in terms of public service, Surigao City Mayor Alfonso Casurra in his last term as mayor filed his COC under the Nacionalista Party for the first congressional district at around 9:30 a.m.

Casurra’s opponent for the first district incumbent and re-electionist Rep. Guillermo Romarate Jr. of Lakas-Kampi-CMD has teamed up with second District Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Matugas another Lakas stalwart who is running for governor of Surigao del Norte this time.

Matugas’ wife, former DepEd regional director for Caraga, Sol Matugas is running for Congress in the second district (Siargao Island).

The administration party also fielded complete lineup mostly composed of incumbents.

P2.5B eyed for priority infra projects

THE PRESIDENTIAL Management Staff will ask the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to set aside approximately P2.5 billion in funds from 2010 budget to ensure completion of various infrastructure projects by next year.

“Funds shall be frontloaded from 2010 to priority infrastructure projects to ensure their continuous construction and timely completion,” Hermogenes C. Esperon, Jr., head of the Presidential Management Staff, told Palace reporters today.

Mr. Esperon said he still needs to firm up details with Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya, Jr.

He said the amount would be used for the completion of the KAMANAVA (Kalookan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) Area Flood Control and Drainage Improvement Project; the Cansaga Bay Bridge of the Cebu North Coastal Road Project; the Cebu Provincial Road linking to the Cansaga Bay Bridge; and the Dinagat-Loreto section of the Dinagat Island Road Network Project.

The infrastructure projects, which were among those promised by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in her last State of the Nation Address in July, were expected to be completed sometime between end-2009 up to March 2010, he said.

Aside from the projects that needs funding from 2010 budget, Mr. Esperon also reported that the Segment 8.1 of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx)-Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Ave. (C5)-South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) Project which will link the NLEx to Mindanao Ave. is targeted for completion also in March 2010.

The road that will connect the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road in Batangas and the SLEx will also become passable by February 2010, he said.

He also said the P4.5-billion Re-regulating Pond of the Agno River Integrated Irrigation Project in Pangasinan was scheduled for inauguration on Friday.

Another ongoing project that he reported to the Cabinet included the construction and rehabilitation of 17,299.54 kilometers of farm-to-market roads nationwide, amounting to P24.17 billion.

Mr. Esperon said more will be constructed in the coming months to take advantage of the relatively favorable weather conditions.

He also reported the construction of irrigation facilities for 1.5 hectares of new areas amounting to P67.71 billion; electrification of a total of 41.234 barangays as of last month; and relocation of a total of 85,554 families between 2003-2009 to give way to the Northrail, Soutrail, NLEX-C5-SLEx projects. -- Gerard S. dela Pena

Farm, infrastructure projects get P23 billion from Japan aid agency

THE JAPAN International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will sign today the loan agreements for official development assistance (ODA) totaling ¥44.988 billion to the Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), which will use the funds to finance agriculture and infrastructure projects.

In a press release yesterday, the international aid agency of the Japanese government said the ODA loans are broken down into ¥14.608 billion and ¥30.38 billion yen -- equivalent to a total of P23 billion -- to Landbank and DBP, respectively.

JICA said DBP can use the loan -- for the Logistics Infrastructure Development Project -- to finance infrastructure like roll on-roll off terminals and vessels; toll roads; maintenance equipment; as well as cold chain, packaging, transport and distribution facilities.

The Landbank loan, called the Agricultural Credit Support Project, will be used to provide financing to small farmers and fishermen, as well as to small- and medium-scale enterprises.

JICA noted that while three-fourths of Filipinos in rural areas are engaged in agriculture, they lack access to financial services.

In a related development, the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) will ask the Department of Budget and Management to "front-load" P2.5 billion from the planned 2010 spending program in order to ensure completion of various priority infrastructure projects.

The Nacionalista Party who fielded a complete slate for Surigao del Norte’s elective posts from municipal councilors to mayors of the province’s 20 towns and one component city filed their respective COCs on Saturday, records obtained from the Surigao del Norte Provincial Comelec office showed.

Award winning in terms of public service, Surigao City Mayor Alfonso Casurra in his last term as mayor filed his COC under the Nacionalista Party for the first congressional district at around 9:30 a.m.

Casurra’s opponent for the first district incumbent and re-electionist Rep. Guillermo Romarate Jr. of Lakas-Kampi-CMD has teamed up with second District Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Matugas another Lakas stalwart who is running for governor of Surigao del Norte this time.

Matugas’ wife, former DepEd regional director for Caraga, Sol Matugas is running for Congress in the second district (Siargao Island).

The administration party also fielded complete lineup mostly composed of incumbents.

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Tourism is coordinating with travel media and tour operators in informing potential tourists to Mindanao that Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, and Cotabato City are not part of the “main tourist circuit” in the region, Tourism Secretary Ace Durano said Wednesday.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared a state of emergency in these areas Tuesday, a day after over 40 people were massacred in Maguindanao in what was apparently an election-related incident.

"We really appreciated that the state of emergency was specified in Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat and Cotabato City. Itong mga lugar na ito ay di [These areas are not] part ng [of the] main tourist circuit in Mindanao which includes Camiguin, Siargao, Davao and Cagayan de Oro," said Durano in an interview with INQUIRER.net on the side of the Philippine Tourism Congress at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City.

"Ang trabaho namin ngayon [Our work now] is to inform and coordinate with the travel media and tour operators that these areas are not part of our tourism circuit and our tourism circuits are stable, safe, and enjoyable," added Durano.

Durano described the massacre incident in Mindanao as an "isolated incident" although he recognized that this was not the first time that there was chaos in Mindanao.

"We make sure that there is a normal traffic of tourists in our tourist circuits in Mindanao. Hindi naman talaga kasama sa tourism circuit ang Central Mindanao [Central Mindanao is not really part of the tourism circuit]," said Durano.

In her speech before the tourism congress, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo praised the growth of the Philippines tourism industry, attributing this to the partnership of the private sector and the government.

"The biggest number of tourists comes from our neighboring Asian countries with Koreans, topping the list for several years. Also, there is a 500 percent growth of tourists since 2001 from China," said Arroyo.

"This tourism congress is not only the first compliance in the new tourism act but also to celebrate P555 billion of infrastructure investments in tourism," said Arroyo.

The Tourism Congress, a private sector consultative body, is tasked to assist the DoT in development, implementation, and coordination of tourism policies.

This year, RA 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009 was enacted to boost the tourism industry in the country, which can generate investment, foreign exchange, and employment.

Incumbent Officials in Caraga still loyal to Lakas
at Thursday, December 3, 2009

Majority of the incumbent local officials in the five provinces and 70 municipalities in Caraga Region who have already filed their respective COCs remained loyal to President Arroyo’s administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD, except with the Barbers and Casurra groups who affiliated themselves with the Nacionalista Party.

While two of the Amante political clan bigwigs – incumbent Agusan del Norte Gov. John Amante and his sister, former Agusan del Norte governor and Rep. Maria Angelica Amante filed their COCs under Lakas. Their Butuan City mayoralty bet, Dr. Ferdinand Amante’s group filed their COCs under the Liberal Party. Lakas stalwarts – re-electionists first district Surigao del Norte Rep. Guillermo Romarate Jr. and second district Rep. Francisco Matugas who is vice president for Mindanao for Lakas-Kampi-CMD filed their respective COCs.

Matugas’ wife, former Department of Education regional director Sol Matugas filed her COC for Surigao del Norte governor under Lakas.

Majority of the 27 municipal mayors and vice mayors of Surigao del Norte filed their respective COCs under Lakas. The remaining filed their COCs under Nacionalista Party.

Meanwhile, former senior superintendent Cesar Mancao filed Monday his COC in the first district of Compostela Valley under the Ak*syon-Demokratiko of the Liberal Party.

“I think I am the best alternative to win in this elections given my credentials,” Mancao said in an earlier interview.

Accompanied by his family, other relatives and supporters, Mancao filed his COC before the Comelec office in the town of Nabunturan, hoping he would be able to defeat incumbent board member Maricar Apsay and lawyer Ferdinand Lopoz for the said congressional slot in Compostela Valley.

Compostela Valley Gov. Arthur Uy, who is running for re-election, said Lakas-Kampi-CMD would be behind the candidacy of Apsay against Mancao.

It came as a shock to all media present after the filing of COC of his eldest son Irvin Alcala, 32, when Rep. Proceso Alcala (second district-Quezon) announced in that he trusts his son to continue his legacy of serving the people with utmost sincerity and dedication.

Alcala said he believes that any government position is not permanent but should be given away to those who deserve it. He said he is not turning his back against the people who he said, he owed his political career but to give chance to younger people who are more capable of doing more than he had accomplished during his stint. don't have any pics. sorry. anyway, the christmas tree is simple yet elegant.it's made of bamboo. it is soaring high in the middle of borromeo-rizal junction fronting the city hall and decorated with xmas "grass". simple ra sija...an mga curtain series lights sa luneta park still look awesome during night time. i don't know why the trees near the corner of san nicolas and rizal streets are not lighted up until now. it used to be decorated and lighted up by Land Bank and Jollibee before.

Burgos chosen Surigao Norte's cleanest, greenest municipality

Surigao del Norte (3 December) -- For the first time, the town of Burgos in Siargao Island bested other municipalities of Surigao del Norte in this year's search for the clean and green program organized by the provincial government of Surigao del Norte.

Burgos Mayor Sulueta Rayos received the award during the awarding ceremony of the 2nd Gov. Ace Barbers Awards for the Cleanest and Greenest Municipality held at the provincial convention center, Surigao City, Tuesday, December 1, 2009.

The winning municipality received a cash prize amounted to P100,000 and a plaque of appreciation from the provincial government in recognition of their continuous efforts and commitment in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Other winners in the competition are: Socorro as second prize winner with P75,000 cash prize and a plaque of appreciation; and Mainit, as third prize winner with P50, 000 cash prize and a plaque of appreciation.

Also, other winners with P10,000 consolation prize include the municipalities of Bacuag, Gigaquit, Pilar, Malimono, Gen. Luna, Alegria, and San Isidro. While the municipalities of Tubod, Del Carmen, San Benito, Sison, Claver, San Francisco, Placer, Dapa, Tagana-an, and Sta. Monica all received P5,000 cash prize.

Special awards for Space Greening went to Socorro; Backyard Gardening, Tourist Friendly LGU, and Best Practices on Ecological Solid Waste Mngt. to Burgos; Cleanest Coastline/Shoreline to Bacuag; Landscaping and Beautification, Cleanest Public Park/Plaza to Gigaquit; Cleanest & Greenest Public High School, Cleanest Public Toilet and Cleanest Functional Public Market to Alegria; Cleanest & Greenest Public Elem. School to Sison; and Best Documentation to Mainit.

The respective local government officers of the winning municipalities were awarded plaques of commendation for their outstanding contribution in the province's clean and green program.

The winners in this year's search were assessed by the provincial inter-agency search committee composed of the Provincial Environment and Management Office as chairman with technical representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Education (DepEd), Health (DOH), Prov’l Tourism and Culture Office, Surigao del Norte NGO Coalition for Dev’t (SUNGCOD), Media Association of Surigao (MASU), Prov’l Agriculture, Planning Office (PPDO), Dep’t of the Interior and Local Gov’t (DILG), Environment and Management Bureau (EMB) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). Reports revealed that the airline's flight from Manila to Siargao will commence its operation on January 16, 2009. Flight Z2 378 is scheduled to leave Manila at 1330 arriving at 1515 in Siargao-Sayak Airport. The return Z2 379 flight is set to take off at 1545 landing in Manila Domestic Airport at 1730 which operates every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The airline will be using its brand-new 60-seater MA60 aircraft from China.

Also, the Manila-Surigao route operates its four times-weekly service every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting January 17, 2009. Flight Z2 370 departs from Manila at 1330 and arrives in Surigao at 1515. The return flight Z2 371 leaves at 1545 and reaches Manila at 1730.

don't have any pics. sorry. anyway, the christmas tree is simple yet elegant.it's made of bamboo. it is soaring high in the middle of borromeo-rizal junction fronting the city hall and decorated with xmas "grass". simple ra sija...an mga curtain series lights sa luneta park still look awesome during night time. i don't know why the trees near the corner of san nicolas and rizal streets are not lighted up until now. it used to be decorated and lighted up by Land Bank and Jollibee before.

probably the orgs/ngo that were assigned to those trees failed to give the lights. usahay inin tourism office tuho, adton hinua tuda madonate nan lights adto sa suyod an mga kahoy na i-assign, ugsa di nimu makita. jaon hinua klaro magdako ra an ngayan nan donor pero gamay ray lights.

Alfredo Yao’s budget airline Zest Airways Inc. (Zest Air) plans to resume flights to Siargao Island and Surigao City this January of 2010.

Reports revealed that the airline's flight from Manila to Siargao will commence its operation on January 16, 2009. Flight Z2 378 is scheduled to leave Manila at 1330 arriving at 1515 in Siargao-Sayak Airport. The return Z2 379 flight is set to take off at 1545 landing in Manila Domestic Airport at 1730 which operates every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The airline will be using its brand-new 60-seater MA60 aircraft from China.

Also, the Manila-Surigao route operates its four times-weekly service every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting January 17, 2009. Flight Z2 370 departs from Manila at 1330 and arrives in Surigao at 1515. The return flight Z2 371 leaves at 1545 and reaches Manila at 1730.

At present, Zest Air flies to Caticlan, Busuanga, Calbayog, Catarman, Marinduque, San Jose and Virac from Manila. It started flying new routes to Iloilo, Legaspi, Naga, Puerto Princesa, Davao, Kalibo, Tacloban and Tagbilaran. For more information, visit www.zestair.com.ph.

To think the highway there where that overpass is located is wider and busier than the proposed site here in surigao.

its never a good idea to use an overpass for any other use aside from using properly..theres nothing wrong of constructing the overpass when its greatly needed and situated to where it must be located..we should also consider rizal street as one of the most busiest and dangerous streets in the city and the overpass is the most safest refuge to stay away from danger and to the traffic..i know bagan ako ray mudapig kang romarate ani..hehehe..pero lets just give him the chance...who knows basin bja he has a plan to put up another hospital or any commercial or institutional building wherein its of great use..:)

ok ra mike pero maklaro man gud na way mugamit jaon porposed overpass except maybe at the start kun bag-o pa knowing sa batasan nan mga suriganon. consider this, an imu oras (minuto) isaka sa overpass, kun imu itabok diretso, abot na kaw. As iv said unless they close the highway to the pedestrian then they will be forced to take the overpass, but if not people will prefer the shorter route and its across the street/highway. What we are trying to say is that the money for the overpass cold have been use for another project whihc is really needed and necessary.

Pero jaon naman ton, hopefully i wont be able to say "daan ko pa..." one day.

Barbers, Casurra filed COC under NP

The Nacionalista Party who fielded a complete slate for Surigao del Norte’s elective posts from municipal councilors to mayors of the province’s 20 towns and one component city filed their respective COCs on Saturday, records obtained from the Surigao del Norte Provincial Comelec office showed.

Award winning in terms of public service, Surigao City Mayor Alfonso Casurra in his last term as mayor filed his COC under the Nacionalista Party for the first congressional district at around 9:30 a.m.

Casurra’s opponent for the first district incumbent and re-electionist Rep. Guillermo Romarate Jr. of Lakas-Kampi-CMD has teamed up with second District Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Matugas another Lakas stalwart who is running for governor of Surigao del Norte this time.

Matugas’ wife, former DepEd regional director for Caraga, Sol Matugas is running for Congress in the second district (Siargao Island).

The administration party also fielded complete lineup mostly composed of incumbents.(Surigao Today)

sorry msbuns wala ko gadala sa ako cam. hmmm, the goldilocks shop here is much bigger in some branches in manila and it's not just a display center. mura full goldilocks shop siya except for the dine-in tables kay walay for dine-in. i love it kay daghan ila available na products most specially ang cake stix na paborito nako sa tanan.
