wow! ka hamok baja housing project kuman...sign na gajud jaon nan pag hamok nan tawo sa lugar nato...i hope ma approve nan congress ang pending petition ni romarate bahin sa pag highly urbanize independent city nan surigao para maka create nasab nan bag-o na city sa norte ug candidate na an claver or placer plus an dapa sa siargao.

As far as the highly urbanized city category, mao rag dili pa puede magfile si Cong. Romarate sa Congress tungod kay waya pa makaabot ang population ng Surigao City sa 200,000 nga maoy minimum population requirement og minimum 50 million pesos income. Qualified ang Surigao sa income. Pero sa pagka independent component city, puede sya magfile ng bill to revised the Surigao City Charter.

guys inig mahapon ba..ako lang napansin nga nagkadaghan na jud ang mga vehicle sa city..either tricycle,multicab and even private cars....special to mention inin private cars ky inig mahapon pataka rag parking biskay hae dapit sa xudad...considering tana nga gamay ang ato dayan ug maka cause nan traffic....although im not in favor of having parking fees but i think it should be poses na para dili pataka ang mga private owners ug park...and in the same way it will help also to generate income bahalag gamay para sad ma deciplina inin mga katawhan....ug usa pa jaun mga traffic lights nato?uman jaun dekorasyon rakan?marajaw pa ipatimbang ton ky sa nman naka sab-it tas dili magamit!!!marajaw pa aton sa una na simple na traffic lights peru gamit!!

ok na ang 1 hectare. at least naa pod escalator. dali na lang magbutang og malls karon di pareha sa una. i-timing siguro nila mag-open before bonok-bonok festival.^^

They will open by september. I ask about jollibee but he did not answer me.hehe.

His answer: all r still on nego. our targets r mcdo, jolibe, amusements, salons, aparels..

How big is the mall?

3.4 hec total area, 1 hec ang mall.

There are escalators?

Answer: Yes,There is an escalator.

He added: We r looking forward to serve surigaonons with lots of variety in it.

^^as you can see...there are 2 sites for surigao del norte. one from siargao and the other is for the city....site 17 is for the city and site 23 for siargao..ang sa site 23 for sure its a hotel claro kaau....and for our respective city i couldnt say nga its a mall coz base sa mga previous thread it says nga propety ni melva nia we dont heard man kung asa dapit sa city..nia sakto siguro tong giingun nga baka supermarket or department store!!!but the good thing is wehter it is a mall or what maka dungag napud ni panginabuhian sa city..an alternative to buy or shoppe..:banana:

one hectare? daku na ba ton mike? talking about mall area, how about GMALL butuan, pila na ka hectare/s?

anyway, here's my prediction. if Mcdo has already approved the Laurente's franchise which will be located soon at rizal then there'll be no Mcdo at GC Surigao. same as for Jollibee not unless company owned ang mo open sa GC Surigao. for KFC, i really hope na sila ang mo open diha though i really expect for Jollibee, Greenwich and Chowking to be one of the tenants as well as penshoppe and Bench. I am also looking forward for Goldilocks since there products are already available in the city and of course second branch of Mang Inasal.

The good thing about having a not so big Gaisano here is it will give room for other malls to open and compete. If Gaisano will build a huge mall with theaters etc, Robinsons et al will be have a tough time to enter a market with a very strong competition.

I'm sure Gaisano studied retail trends in Surigao. Whether they looked at the mining companies and realized that they are not yet fully operational and are still in various stages of exploration or considered our special status as among the top 10 poorest provinces in the country, we don't know. What we know is they are building a mall here and the render does not look the way we expected it.

I suspect this is a test mall for Gaisano in Surigao. Once they find out that it is very profitable to do business here- they might consider a bigger mall for Surigao. If I'm not mistaken, Tacloban and Ormoc started with Gaisano Capitals and ended up with bigger Gaisano malls after that.:)

dili ko sure kung 3 has ang floor area og 5 has ang property sa Gmall including the parking areas.. pero mapansin nimo nga out of 5 has gamay ra man ang parking area gud... sa estimate nako murag 3 to 4 has ang floor area...

KFC re-opens Limketkai branch

THE fastfood known for its “Finger lickin’ good” slogan will once again be seen at Limketkai Center as Kentucky Fried Chicken, more popularly known as KFC, has re-opened starting Sunday, April 18.

Ms. Airah Bonnet B. Seno, restaurant general manager, said the Limketkai branch was closed last month for renovation in their effort to provide their clients with a more comfortable dining experience.

The newly refurbished KFC branch still offers the same great-tasting chicken cooked using breading flour made with 11 secret herbs and spices in original and hot and crispy flavors.

Seno said starting April 10, KFC now offers two more flavors of its mouth watering Krushers – Mango Yogurt and Rocky Road. This is in addition to the present Strawberry Banana, Strawberry, Mocha Krunch, Caramel Krunch, Cookies and Cream, and Mixed Berries flavors.

But Seno said the Mixed Berries flavors – a combination of strawberry and blueberry – would soon be phased out due to “supply problems.”

Aside from the Krushers and the chicken that KFC has been known for, also available are the new creamy tomato and chewy cheese, crispy fries, twister, pasta bowl, tortilla bread, and other delectable food that would surely answer every person’s gastronomic cravings.

KFC Limketkai branch opened in 2000 as its first location at the site where the National Bookstore now stands but later transferred to a more convenient area, still within the Center.

An international company, KFC Philippines is owned by the Agustines family with over 200 company-owned branches nationwide.

In Cagayan de Oro, KFC has two branches – in Limketkai and SM City. But Seno said the company plans to open another branch in Divisoria in the third quarter of this year.

“We will also open two more branches in Butuan City and Iligan City within this year,” she said.

Aside from the Cagayan de Oro outlets, there are three KFC branches in Davao, two in Zamboanga and one in General Santos City.

Being a company serving 100 percent chicken, Seno said KFC blends well with the culture of the Muslims and Maranaos.

“We don’t serve pork. Only chicken and beef,” she said.

With the presence of a lot of fastfood chains in the country, she said KFC is still a come-on among diners owing to the company’s consistent quality service and friendly crew.

This, she said, has what made KFC shines among the rest.

when i applied sa city naa na ng night cafe bai. and it was planned a long time ago during the time of cassura for the intention na mabibo ang boulevard. Kaso wa nadayun and tagrealize ni Mr. Boyet Bonite during this administration and i dont think i can change that idea of yours to transfer the boulevard night cafe to the main highway which is rizal street. Its better to tell Councilor Bonite for your purpose bai. Bagan naghanap nasad sila kon sin-o muabang for night market nasad in that other lane..:cheers:

PDEA-13 to open satellite office in Surigao City

SURIGAO CITY, Feb. 23 (PIA) – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-13) is set to establish a drug enforcement extension office this city.

According to PDEA-13 Officer-in-charge Regional Director Joel Plaza, it will open on the first week of March, this year.

The said office will be located at the 2nd level of the Surigao Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal, Barangay Luna, this city. “I have talked to City Mayor Ernesto Matugas and he offered to us the vacant space at the terminal building.”

Army holds medical mission in Surigao

SURIGAO CITY, Feb. 23 -- The Army’s 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, through the efforts of the 402nd Infantry Brigade, under Col Rodrigo T Diapana with the Local Government Unit (LGU) successfully concluded the Medical and Dental Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) and Grand Pulong-Pulong with the theme of “KALUSUGAN MO, AALAGAN KO PARA SA KALUSUGAN MO,” last Tuesday in Surigao City.

According to Maj Osias the activity is part of the 4th Infantry Division Commander Major General Victor A. Felix’ mandate in reaching out to the people in the community and in working hand in hand with different LGU’s and sectors in the community.

“We are spearheading this activity to help facilitate in bringing essential health services to the populace. This is just a part of the Army’s commitment in our efforts in reaching out and working hand in hand with the people in order to achieve peace and stability and bring in much needed development to our communities,” Osias said.

The Diamond troopers together with the Barangay Council of Barangay, Mabua, Surigao City initiated the activity which benefited 283 for consultation, 278 for tooth extraction, 39 for circumcisions and 65 for free haircut. The activity was supported by of the 30th IB under LtCol Erwin Rommel P Lamzon, and 42nd Civil-Military Operations (CMO) (Panaghiusa) Company of the 4th CMO Battalion under Maj Eugenio Julio C Osias IV 4ID Spokesperson, with the Medical and Dental Teams of different local agencies, and sponsors.

The grand “pulong-pulong” was attended by different local agencies; Dir. Martianiano Yandra of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatics Resources (BFAR), Cherryl C. Visenio Administrative Officer CARAGA of National Housing Authority (NHA), Mr. Zenro Valbares of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Dir. Surigao Norte mulls establishment of peace village for rebel returnees

SURIGAO DEL NORTE, Feb. 23 (PIA) – The provincial government here thru the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) is mulling the establishment of a peace village for the former rebels (FR) to help them assimilate and live normally in the mainstream of society.

In the recently held PPOC meeting, Provincial Human Resources Management and Development (HRMD) Head Ramon Gotinga, said the proposal aims to encourage rebels to come down and live harmoniously with the community. “A village where peace and harmony prevails, where people help and respect each other practicing bayanihan in all communal works.”

As suggested, the council chaired by Gov. Sol Matugas will spearhead the program thru the office of the HRMD, Barangay Development Office and Department of the Interior and Local Government as facilitators.

Gov. Matugas said that she has already identified a suitable land with enough space where houses will be located.

“It is in barangay Ipil, Surigao City. We have our nine (9) hectares lot there. I am thinking of providing them may be two (2) hectares to resettle our rebel returnees.”

Matugas added that the beneficiaries will be provided with employment and livelihood opportunities for their sustenance. “The program will have an employment and livelihood component. It is actually a self-contained community.”

The children (if there are any) will also be enrolled as scholars in the province.

Thereafter, they will be facilitated to be employed in any industries within the province.

According to Gov. Matugas, the proposed program will be a multi-stakeholders undertaking with the national and local governments, business and non-government organizations. (FEAbkilan, PIA-Surigao del Norte)

To those who have no idea how big a 1 ha. floor area is, our provincial sports complex track and field oval is exactly 400 meters in circumference and an area of approximately 1 hectare. If GCS is 1 ha. and has 3 floors, then it's slightly smaller than Gaisano Butuan.

Most municipalities in Panaon Island, So. Leyte (like San Ricardo, Pintuyan, and San Francisco) are nearer to Surigao City than in Sogod. Nevertheless, GCSurigao would still capture part of So. Leyte market which is supposedly to be served by Gaisano Sogod.

ky dha man gud to sir ang ako source na hinabi nija while on the terminal last november,and base gajud sa sulti nagtest sila nan lupa..and for some reason..the source of mine where kinda curios kung what type of establishment ba daw ang ila itukod....and the person who is responsible for the test answer him na it has a basement..ky according gali sa nagtest dapat uk jud kunu ila drainage system knowing na mauyan sa ato lugar...

So, my guess is right 3 floors because based on the rendering it shows 3 :banana: :banana: really good for us.....kay alanganin sa 1 floor an ila department store......so ground floor will be supermarket, food court plus tenants then 2nd & 3rd will be department store plus mga tenants :)

here's a surprise! nasakay naku ang taga GSIS this morning together with her friend. paglabay namo sa proposed area nan gaisano, laong sija, diri ang gaisano neng, didto sila sa GSIS Office gahapon kay nag canvass sila kung mo rent ba ang GSIS sa gaisano kay ang third floor may mga slots for Government and Private Offices. hmmmmmm so it's not a 2 storey mall afterall kay may slots man baja for government and private offices sa 3rd floor. im sure hamok pa details na waya pata kabayu. lots of surpises pa from this mall. wew!

Surigao mulls establishment of peace village for former rebels

The provincial government here thru the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) is mulling the establishment of a peace village for the former rebels (FR) to help them assimilate and live normally in the mainstream of society.

In the recently held PPOC meeting, Provincial Human Resources Management and Development (HRMD) Head Ramon Gotinga, said the proposal aims to encourage rebels to come down and live harmoniously with the community. “A village where peace and harmony prevails, where people help and respect each other practicing bayanihan in all communal works.”

As suggested, the council chaired by Gov. Sol Matugas will spearhead the program thru the office of the HRMD, Barangay Development Office and Department of the Interior and Local Government as facilitators.

Gov. Matugas said that she has already identified a suitable land with enough space where houses will be located.

“It is in barangay Ipil, Surigao City. We have our nine (9) hectares lot there. I am thinking of providing them may be two (2) hectares to resettle our rebel returnees.”

Matugas added that the beneficiaries will be provided with employment and livelihood opportunities for their sustenance. “The program will have an employment and livelihood component. It is actually a self-contained community.”

The children (if there are any) will also be enrolled as scholars in the province.

Thereafter, they will be facilitated to be employed in any industries within the province.

According to Gov. Matugas, the proposed program will be a multi-stakeholders undertaking with the national and local governments, business and non-government organizations. (PIA)

i agree. southern leyte has two malls. metro gaisano in maasin and gaisano capital in sogod. my relatives in san ricardo only go to surigao kung naa special occasion.

daghan gihapun esp kung naa silay mga paryente diha sa surigao but most of them prefer to shop in sogod bec mas daghan ug biyahe from sogod to san ricardo in panaon.

Surigao Norte Police reports improved crime solution efficiency

The comparative crime volume in Surigao del Norte dropped by 45.60 % from January to December, last year as compared to the year 2009 based on record by the Police Provincial Office.

PC/Insp. Rudy Elandag said it registered a decrease from 2,796 cases in 2009 to 1,521 cases for 2010.

On the other hand, crime solution efficiency of the province for the year 2010 recorded a 2% increase tabulated at 17.22% compared to only 15.20% last 2009.

For the index crime, categorized as crime against persons and properties and a good indicator of the prevailing crime situation in a particular area, registered a decrease from 1,481 cases in 2009 to 928 cases for 2010.

going back sa issue nan Gaisano, i think kon mag house sila nan mga government offices is really a good business idea kay para gajud ma hakop nila an bulto nan customers but, they should have a separate entrance/exit for that purpose alone kay bagan ka lain na magsagol an customers sanan an mga mag transact sa gov. office but ultimately maka hatag gajud ton nan dako na business sa tanan tenants.

This time, I went to check its website, but it is no longer there. I don't know what happened. Another requirement is to have a bigger area (I remembered 1 ha. requirement but I'm not so sure now if it is still the same today). Still, the campus area of Nemco is small. The school has to look for additional area to meet the requirement. I think it is still a long way for Nemco to become a university.

who knows sir..basi e surprise ra kita ini na school..we know na for the past decade dili na gajud pareha sa una ang quality sa ini na school but dont u know nga sa kuman nga mga superintendent ug supervisor sa deped ug sa uban mga government agencies kasagaran nemco graduate..its just that after entering 90s murag na wala na sila sa passing...and just got the info na daku na daw ini na share ang governor and with that perspective i can say na basi otrohon ini nan governor since daku ija pangandoy sa mga surigaonon specially when it comes to education...

the natl highway is under the DPWH. Si Cong amu may access and power to lobby. But both the Gov and City Mayor can make their own provincial or city roads going in and out of the city.

One can use the Arellano District roads tapos gawas kaw sa may NFA near Pacemco or further didto na sa Taganaan. Mat-i also connects with Mabini. way karajaw mugamit ini an rota because the roads there are not well maintained and travel time is longer, maghoot sa Highway.
