Let me just clarify that what was discussed here is the first hoisting of the Phil. flag in Mindanao only.

The senseless arguments are over actually, as I said earlier, the NHI has already validated that the event occurred in Surigao. In fairness to Butuan after the NHI came out with its final finding, they have ceased claiming and promoting the event already.

now it's clear. i hope the city government of surigao will do more efforts on this. this is another tool in promoting tourism in the city.

According to Mr. Wiki, a road is classified as a street or an avenue in this manner:

Historically, an avenue was a road that led to a particular building, while a street was any roadway in a city. In some cities, such as New York, streets running one direction (such as north-south) are called avenues while streets running the other direction are known as streets. In other cities, such as Chicago, there is no distinction between streets and avenues. Originally a "street" was a "strait", a narrow place, implicitly between buildings. I think the design of our tricycle is one of the best because it can carry 6 passengers, 2 in front and 4 at the back. These however, depends on the waistline of the passengers as pointed out by regjeex. Unlike trikes in different cities of Metro Manila, it can only carry 4 passengers, 2 inside and 2 at the back of the driver.

it's still a proposal until now :lol: Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central Office is located at Manila. nasa manila naman siguro lahat ng mga central office ng mga government agencies. but becuase of mining boom in the region particularly in surigao, correct me if im wrong but i think it was the chamber of mines who proposed for the trnasfer of the central office here. question: do you think the manila people will infavor of that proposal? mga tagalog pa, asa kaha na mosugot! :ohno:

Probably not! Kay dili na sila ka kurakot! yan pa na pag kakakitaan nila lalo na malaki ang pera sa mga mining industries. Let just count the number clouds...hehehehehehehe. I've read other threads na baka ilipat ang capital instead of manila to somewhere in the Philippines. I will not in favor if Caraga will be the place.... i hate rallies and unionsss...... :bash::bash: I like CARAGA as peaceful place....

guys i've been to almost all Mines and Geosciences Bureau regional offices but this is the most beautiful and most complete MGB regional office nationwide. it has it's own airconditioned training center, conference room, 3 rooms guest house, mini gym and tennis court.

no it's not a motel it's a hotel actually owned by Surigao State College of technology. I posted the pix of the said hotel, hope you see it. actually mike it's the hotel ang elevated and not this one.

Surigao del Norte (19 January) -- Dako ang kalipay sa tanang mga municipal agriculturist sa gipalapdan karon nga mga programa sa atong maalagarong Gobernador Robert Ace Barbers sa agrikultura diin kini mipahigayon sa pag "turn-over" sa halos 500 ka kahon sa mga organic liquid fertilizers niadtong miaging adlaw, Enero 14, 2009 didto sa Provincial Agriculture Office.

Daghan pa jud kaayo na wala ma discover diha sa Surigao.. Including sa may Sur... Bislig city ang ilang falls didto.. kaso lang naa mga NPA. pero nice tana kung i develop ang road padulong didto sa falls... dapat i concrete sa government.. I hope tagaan og attention sa Caraga ang maong lugar...

Nice pix Mike. Where is this exactly in Surigao? Is this the Zaragosa rock formation? thanks.

These pictures were actually taken by the flickerians of the surigao group.hamok pa ini sila but i just picked the best. These were the different rock formations around the islands of surigao del norte particularlt, bucas grande and dinagat....:)

I'm not sure with the exact rate. Kay when we went there last May 2008 under construction pa jaon na mga cottages. Tagtour kami nan taga City Tourism, pero adton architect na amo nastorya laong sija dollar daw ila rate. Ila gajud tagtarget mga foreign tourists.

SURIGAO CITY—The local government here in Surigao City remains confident it will be able to open the Surigao City Waste Treatment Facility, the first sanitary landfill in Mindanao and only the third in the Philippines before Christmas this year.

Mayor Alfonso Casurra said the local government is still in the process of complying with some last-minute requirements needed for the 20-hectare facility’s full operation.

The facility was funded partly by a P150-million grant from the Swedish government and a P45-million loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The grant from Sweden financed the project’s feasibility study and project design, while the loan from LandBank funded the actual construction of the landfill.

Starting December, the city government will be collecting P25 for the maintenance of the landfill from each of the city’s 12,000 households. This will help cover the P7.5-million maintenance cost of the province every year.

This and other opportunities that will be presented to the LGU through the landfill will help finance the P8-million to P8.5-million annual cost for the landfill.

The mayor said since the landfill is the first to be constructed in Mindanao, areas near Surigao City may be interested to create a memorandum of agreement with the LGU of Surigao City and contract the services of the sanitary landfill for a fee.

Casurra said that recently the LGU of Ozamis City in the province of Misamis Occidental has already visited Surigao City and inquired about the services of the landfill. He is also expecting that the LGU of Panabo City in Davao will be visiting Surigao soon to inquire about the landfill.

Surigao City produces 21 tons of garbage every day and with the landfill, it hopes to lower this to around 10 tons after the landfill has become operational. This will be greatly reduced since the facility will only be processing residual waste.

The rest of the garbage to be collected will be sent to the material recovery facility, which will be turned into a recyclables tiangge, where enterprising residents can get free scraps and sell it for a good price.

the seaside is clean Reg....even the seaside near Tavern is clean...nice to see sunrise early in the morning while going to the market to get some fresh catch :)

Tapos ko ra pangitaa ang TITANIC just this evening sa Star movies, nakaka-pangilabot pa rin kahit na fiction lang ung story...nakakaiyak talaga :cry::cry::cry: and also i miss the 90's..hehehe

Bob, the decision to replace the sodium lamps was purely an economic decision. The electric bill for that strecth of lights was prohibitive, dili masustain nan city. perhaps in the near future, ibalik ra sad, if and when the boulevard has been properly developed for tourism related activities. For now, majority of those who are enjoying and "abusing" the boulevard are the resident squatters therein.:bash:

Politics gihapon filino. This project was supposed to be financed by the PDAF of then Cong. Ace Barbers but he was overtaken by events and became the Governor. With less source of funds as Gov. he was only able to release P1.5 M which was good only for the ground floor.

Cong. Romarate had appropriated P1.5M from his PDAF for the PNP station, but upon learning that Gov. Ace has also released P 1.5M, tag re-align dajun. That could have completed the 2nd storey.

Anyway, fyi, the 2nd floor would have housed the other PNP units in the City like the CIDG, TMG and MARINA.

Nagsaad man daw si gov. to release additional funds for the completion of the 2nd floor.

By the way the INnova patrol car is brand new, gikan pa gajud sa Camp Crame jaon.
