Politics gihapon filino. This project was supposed to be financed by the PDAF of then Cong. Ace Barbers but he was overtaken by events and became the Governor. With less source of funds as Gov. he was only able to release P1.5 M which was good only for the ground floor.

Cong. Romarate had appropriated P1.5M from his PDAF for the PNP station, but upon learning that Gov. Ace has also released P 1.5M, tag re-align dajun. That could have completed the 2nd storey.

Anyway, fyi, the 2nd floor would have housed the other PNP units in the City like the CIDG, TMG and MARINA.

Nagsaad man daw si gov. to release additional funds for the completion of the 2nd floor.

By the way the INnova patrol car is brand new, gikan pa gajud sa Camp Crame jaon.

oops waya man baja diha na pix na naka park an innova na police car. Jaon car, toyota altis, karaan na jaon.

Nightlife in surigao is doing healthy.From tavern, jaoy acoustic and jazz band performing in their bar, tapos sa subangan ktv, camp g, alternative bands performinga also, ila ni joyce rosales na banda sa unahan na bar !hehe. gana an ila acoustics.. and other disco bars diha..plus the new mister donuts for coffee lovers sa kadlawon pawala sa tama! wow! muclick gajud jaon night cafe sa boulevard:lol:

Bob, the decision to replace the sodium lamps was purely an economic decision. The electric bill for that strecth of lights was prohibitive, dili masustain nan city. perhaps in the near future, ibalik ra sad, if and when the boulevard has been properly developed for tourism related activities. For now, majority of those who are enjoying and "abusing" the boulevard are the resident squatters therein.:bash:

for me, daghan potential nga place fot the city to develop for tourism development kaso lang napasagdan. look at the city blvd, jaon na sa ila backyard pero inday bagan kadugay tiwason ang development. dugay na ang blvd pero til now waya pa jud cja ma totally develop.

Perhaps when the boulevard is now really developed for tourism then the sodium lamps can be brought back. For now the City cannot afford to sustain the payment of the electricity if sodium lamps are used.

This is where the advance recon forces of American rangers landed to pave the way for the Invasion Force of Gen. Douglas McArthur. During the 50th anniversary of the Leyte landing, the americans had a simple side ceremony conducted there, with the american service men brought in by helicopters.

Hinoon, siguro bag-ohon nila kay kasawaing sab. MArajao pa ma Death Registration Division ra kan jaon. Nakakad-on ako sa ila opisina sa una pero ya ako ka bantay na eton baja ila division na jaon. Siguro, arang na gajod napaparegister kay ila naman tag himuan nan isa ka division.

in a way, yes, Ni comply ra sa requirement nan balaod, to have separate detention places for children. But they still lack a lot of basic office equipments.

NGOs should pitch in and help the LGU on this. Para ra man sab sa ato security ini.

as for the new city police station, maganda ang detention cells. very clean and looks comfortable compared to the cell where i was detained 24 hours for drag racing along C5 :lol:

Yup, your right ral. The area is also in question. The required area para pwede maprovince is 2000 sq km pero an area nan dinagat is only 802 + sq km.... Na uno na gajod inin ato mga pulitiko. Ila gajud balion an ato balaod para masunod an ila gusto. AMo ini an isa ka classic na example na kita ila pasundon nan balaodnon nila, pero sila na tagahimo nan balaod dili mosunod, na dapat sila an una na musunod as role model nan ato soceity. hehehehe

so you're not originally from surigao cokelitro? so nice of you to start a thread for our province and city.

no, but my great grandfather was assigned to Surigao as an American officer in the early 1900's. He acquired several hectares of lands in Surigao del Sur particularly in Carrascal (some patches of ricefields are already under my name). The house he built (formerly, the Villa Dominguez) is, i think, the residence of the mayor (or former mayor) of Carrasacal after it was sold years ago because we don't go there often anymore. And we have distant cousins in Cantilan (the Hutchkisses) but I don't think they still live there. We still maintain a 5-bedroom residence in Surigao City just in case we pay a visit :D

haay, our project back when i was in college at UP Dil na maghimo nan Surigaonon language dictionary is still not done until now. I'm one of those who are fluent in the language even if I haven't really grown up in Surigao. but people say, my accent is kinda weird :lol:

haay, our project back when i was in college at UP Dil na maghimo nan Surigaonon language dictionary is still not done until now. I'm one of those who are fluent in the language even if I haven't really grown up in Surigao. but people say, my accent is kinda weird :lol:

This is a nice project, a dictionary for the surigaonon dialect. I think there is a thread in SSC solely for the different dialects in the Philippines. Sa surigao gud kuman sagol naman gajud an sinultihan, amo raman nan dili taga surigao. I hope this project will be realized and our dialect be preserved.

Kay for me, murag dili kinasing kasing ang ilang pag serbisyo sa publiko. Kansang mga politico nato usahay nagahuna huna lamang sa ilang pang kaugalingon nga tinguha... RJ, Le Chaz wow Surigao City

Surigao City, Surigao del Norte--Pinoy Dream Academy champ RJ Jimenez and Lani Misalucha comic impersonator Le Chaz recently wowed Surigao City as part of the National Nutrition Council's (NNC) road show campaign.

RJ and Le Chaz were part of the Work in Progress Media Productions road show caravan featuring the theme, “Waston Nutrisyon: Alamin, Gawin at Palaganapin”.

They provided entertainment numbers at the Washington Gym in Barangay Washington where a jampacked crowd waited for them.

They performed in between a video showing of NNC nutrition campaign “Busog-Lusog” annotated by Christine Bersola-Babao and “Pinoy Big Brother” Housemate Big Winner Ruben Gonzaga.

RJ wowed the audience with his original songs “Miss Kita Kung Tuesday”, “If We Fall In Love”, and his adaptation of Jason Mraz's “I'm Yours.”

Meanwhile, Le Chaz brought the house down with his antics and interpretations of some of Misalucha's songs.

However, the month-long preparation of motorcade of stars Jimenez and Le Chaz went to waste during the recent visit of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in this province.

The parade of celebrities organized by the provincial, city and regional NNC offices, which was set as early as Tuesday, was deferred because of Arroyo's meeting with the local officials in a nearby town Wednesday afternoon.

“We could not go on with the parade since the marshals were still with GMA's conference with the officials. And besides, we also had to wait for our mayor to start the motorcade. RJ and Le Chaz would also do a courtesy call to Mayor Cassura, who was with GMA,” said Tita Matias, health educator of the Surigao City Health Center.

Jimenez and Le Chaz were already on call after their radio interview with RPN satellite AM, but were instructed to stand by as per official announcement from the city government.

It was also announced that Arroyo would pay the City Hall a visit but was canceled at the eleventh hour. “Handang-handa na kami. Pati traffic was in place pero we were advised her visit was called of. Dala na naman ng mga gamit papunta sa Surigao Airport dahil do'n na lang daw gagawin ang meeting with the mayor,” said Matias.

RJ and Le Chaz had to wait until late in the afternoon only to be informed that the motorcade would not be staged anymore. (abs-cbnnews.com)

PGMA cites DPWH for job well done in Surigao

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today lauded the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways and the local executives for the immediate restoration of major national highways in the Caraga region that were heavily affected by the recent massive flooding in the areas.

“Very good. Nice to hear that,” the President said after being informed about the quick clearing, backfiling and declogging operations on the 362.98- kilometer highway that were impassable last week as a result of floods and landslides brought by prolonged heavy rainfall in the region.

“All the roads and bridges are now passable,” RDCC-13 chairman Police Supt. Jaime Eloreta Milla said as he briefed the President on the flood situation during the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) at the Surigao City airport here.

“Since we don’t have any problems on the major roads, I am asking you to re-assess the extent of damage on the secondary roads,” the Chief Executive said.

Continuous heavy rains due to the tail-end of a cold front resulted to the damage in the region’s infrastructures estimated at P460, 853,200.

RDCC-Caraga region report showed that Agusan del Sur was worst hit, with damage amounting to P42,767,200. This was followed by Agusan del Norte, P39,310,000; Dinagat Province, P14,596,600; Surigao del Norte, P13,905,690; Surigao del Sur, P2,960,000.

Report from Department of Public Works and Highways, on the other, showed that the amount of damage to region’s roads and bridges is estimated at P348,123,710

no, but my great grandfather was assigned to Surigao as an American officer in the early 1900's. He acquired several hectares of lands in Surigao del Sur particularly in Carrascal (some patches of ricefields are already under my name). The house he built (formerly, the Villa Dominguez) is, i think, the residence of the mayor (or former mayor) of Carrasacal after it was sold years ago because we don't go there often anymore. And we have distant cousins in Cantilan (the Hutchkisses) but I don't think they still live there. We still maintain a 5-bedroom residence in Surigao City just in case we pay a visit :D

the Hutchkiss are still in Cantilan coke. One of my batchmates is married to one and they are the distributor of smc products in Surigao del Sur. I also trace my roots to Cantilan Surigao del Sur.

I have the same story but this is my own experienced .... I was in chowking at edsa central (terminal bound for Antipolo, Binangonan ect) i was there to have lunch after my half working day at Ayala... I ordered pancit cantoon yum yum :cheers: but nakita nako naa naa ulod ang pancit but then i was just relaxed at that time and took the worm outside on my plate... I didnt informed anybody pero nakita sa akong atbang na naa lagi ulod.. pero sa ako OK lang kay I think sa gulay lang man to sya... and then pati ang manager nakakita pod kung gi unsa nako pag kuha ang ulod sa pancit... easy lang kaayo ni duol ang manager tapad sa ako ug linkod.. tas nangayo ug sorry... hahaha tingala ko nga ngano? hehehe abi nako og nakasala ko... gitagaan kog give aways..hehehe tas gi pa order ko ug daghan hehhe.. ako lang hinuon ang naulaw...hehehehe pasalamat sila nga wala daw ko ni react ug husto...hehehe 4 boxes of chowking food (bisan unsa) and 5 thousand pesos....hehehe diba.. gi bulgar nako...hehehe pero nakita jud nako kung unsa sila ka professional ni doul sa ako... buotan lagi ko nga pag katao..ahem... :cheers:

Pero wierd kasi I still eat in chowking (another branch of course) and I like their Spicy beef wanton noodles.

I have the same story but this is my own experienced .... I was in chowking at edsa central (terminal bound for Antipolo, Binangonan ect) i was there to have lunch after my half working day at Ayala... I ordered pancit cantoon yum yum :cheers: but nakita nako naa naa ulod ang pancit but then i was just relaxed at that time and took the worm outside on my plate... I didnt informed anybody pero nakita sa akong atbang na naa lagi ulod.. pero sa ako OK lang kay I think sa gulay lang man to sya... and then pati ang manager nakakita pod kung gi unsa nako pag kuha ang ulod sa pancit... easy lang kaayo ni duol ang manager tapad sa ako ug linkod.. tas nangayo ug sorry... hahaha tingala ko nga ngano? hehehe abi nako og nakasala ko... gitagaan kog give aways..hehehe tas gi pa order ko ug daghan hehhe.. ako lang hinuon ang naulaw...hehehehe pasalamat sila nga wala daw ko ni react ug husto...hehehe 4 boxes of chowking food (bisan unsa) and 5 thousand pesos....hehehe diba.. gi bulgar nako...hehehe pero nakita jud nako kung unsa sila ka professional ni doul sa ako... buotan lagi ko nga pag katao..ahem... :cheers:

Thats well and good but sometimes, these fastfood chains ( the franchisee actualy) will try to bluff their way out of it. Maayo tong manager reg because he immeidately addressed the problem. Fastfood chains are very sensitive to issues regarding sanitation because it would have an adverse effect on their image in all their branches. The decisions of courts in most cases have been favorable to complainants and they had to shell out money for this. Mao na nga ang uban i settle jud dayon at their level pa ug di na padakoon.

A Judge once ordered pizza (to go) at Pizzahut in Gaisano Bxu. When they arrived at their residence, lo and behold the pizza was full of dark crawling insects probably from the dough. When the matter was brought before the management, they of course apologized. At any rate the matter reached the court since it was not settled. Pizzahut settled the matter out of court for an undisclosed amount.

I know FR Boy kay s'ya man ang parish priest nan Gigaquit during my high school days hangtod sa pagraduate ko. I'm not sure kung Gigaquit ang last na nagparish priest s'ya kay ang nabatian ko na nagbalik s'ya ug schooling sa Manila. Then after that, ang nabalitaan ko na nagtukod na s'yag seminary sa surigao. I know na dako an maitabang n'ya pag mold nan bag-o na mga pari nato kuman. With his character and expertise, I know he can make a difference para sa mga future nato na pari. Arang na man gajod na pari an mga pasaway sa kuman.

The Battle of Surigao Strait (October 25, 1944)

The greatest and the Last big-gun naval battle in history, wherein, three American destroyers, Hoel, Heermann and Johnston, hurled themselves at a Japanese force of 4 battleships and 8 cruisers. Terriers attacking a wolfpack. The Hoel and Johnston, along with the destroyer escort Samuel B. Roberts were sunk, but the carriers they had been protecting were saved. October 25th, 1944 was the ninetieth anniversary of the Charge of the Light Brigade.

The Surigao Strait action is considered the Navy's greatest single triumph, a model of timeing, coordination and execution.

Sandigan asked to uphold evidence vs ex-Surigao del Norte execs

BY SURIGAO TODAY

The government has asked the Sandiganbayan to uphold the evidence against the former provincial officers of Surigao del Norte, including its former governor Francisco Matugas, concerning the alleged anomalous purchases of medical supplies in 1996 to 1998.

Assistant Special Prosecutor III Julieta Zinnia A. Niduaza filed her motion in response to Demurrers to Evidence filed by the respondents, namely Matugas, former provincial administrator Carlos Egay, provincial treasurer Anotonio Bonono, provincial accountant Daisy Andit, provincial budget officer Virginia Yuipco, provincial general services officer Zenon Eupeña, and assistant provincial administrator Sally Plaza.

Niduaza said there is sufficient evidence to prove that the accused persons had rigged the bidding for the medical supplies during the term of Matugas, who is now congressman of the said province.

Also named respondents were private defendants Joemel Tinio-Yu, alleged niece of Matugas; and private contractors Ernesto Bravo of Saint Martin Pharmaceutical Laboratory Inc., Francisco Reyez of Beruth Medical Enterprises Inc., Jesse Peñaranda of Colt Marketing, and Vivian Ortiz of Medicine Trading Inc.

The provincial government purchased DS water bottles, butterfly needles and amoxicillin capsules from the said suppliers for its ‘Panambay sa Barangay’ medical outreach program.

In their Demurrers to Evidence, Matugas, Egay, Tinio-Yu, Andit, Yuipco, Eupeña and Plaza had claimed that there was no categorical finding of rigged bidding or of overpricing in the procurement.

Niduaza however said that based on the documents they obtained from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), none of the suppliers were qualified to participate in the bidding due to inadequate capitalization, lack of accreditation from concerned government agencies, and failure to register with SEC.

“The winning bidders were not qualified to undertake the project. The evidence on record shows that Joemel S. Tinio-Yu, a niece of then Gov. Matugas represented all the five winning bidders. It was also accused Tinio-Yu who personally received and accepted the bids of the five bidders,” Niduaza said.

According to SEC documents, Medicine Trading Inc. only had P100,000 in paid-up capital but was awarded six supply contracts totaling P1.49 million between October 1996 and February 1998. Beruth Medical, on the other hand, operated under a P125,000 capitalization but was granted eight supply deals worth P271,599.15. It was also found to have no registration from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The prosecution said Colt Marketing, despite having no license to operate from the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) and is unregistered with SEC, cornered a P985,000 contract. According to the DTI-Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection, the firm was only registered on August 9, 2001.

Laboratory International Inc. was not registered with DTI, SEC or BFAD, but still landed five contracts with a total value of P1.31 million, the prosecution said.

Based on a review by a team of government auditors, among the items purchased were 5000cc DS water at P109 per bottle which were found to be sold by other suppliers at only P26 per bottle; butterfly needles priced at P68 per unit obtainable from others at P9.95 each; and amoxicillin antibiotics paid for at P73.83 per capsule sold by other firms at P10 each. Ipur, why dont you try PAL express 2nd flight to surigao kay magkaiba an rate nan morning and afternoon flights, jaon if 2nd flight is still existing. In my experience last month, morning flight is 6 thousand whereas sa afternoon flight 3 thousand lang. imagine maka save pa kaw nan half.

The Battle of Surigao Strait (October 25, 1944)

The greatest and the Last big-gun naval battle in history, wherein, three American destroyers, Hoel, Heermann and Johnston, hurled themselves at a Japanese force of 4 battleships and 8 cruisers. Terriers attacking a wolfpack. The Hoel and Johnston, along with the destroyer escort Samuel B. Roberts were sunk, but the carriers they had been protecting were saved. October 25th, 1944 was the ninetieth anniversary of the Charge of the Light Brigade.

The Surigao Strait action is considered the Navy's greatest single triumph, a model of timeing, coordination and execution.

During the Battle of Leyte Gulf (of which the Battle of Surigao Strait was a part), from 22-27 October, 1944 - six days - the United States suffered 3,000 men killed in action.

This historic event is annually commemorated at the Lipata Ferry Terminal, Surigao City.
