ABS-CBN President & COO Charo Santos Concio was invited to attend the 81st Academy Awards ceremony to be held at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center on February 23 (Manila time). A self-confessed movie buff, the Kapamilya network's top executive will be attending the occasion with other distinguished filmmakers and esteemed actors from all over the world.

ABS-CBN along with its other channels—Velvet and Studio 23—are the exclusive live carriers of the awards.

The awards ceremony to be hosted by Hugh Jackman of X-Men and Australia fame will be telecast live at ABS-CBN on Monday, February 23, at 9:45 am, while the complete coverage will be shown on Velvet (Skycable Ch. 53) also on Monday, February 23, starting with a live telecast from 7 am, extending to the main awarding ceremony at 9:30 am. To give more Oscar fans the chance to catch the show, a primetime encore telecast on Velvet on the same day at 6 pm and a replay of the complete coverage on February 28, Saturday from 3:30 pm onwards will be scheduled. Studio 23, on the other hand, will carry the first primetime telecast on free to air television on Tuesday, February 24, at 7 PM.

I insist that all walkways around the city must be replaced with adobe bricks pavements for easy seepage of water towards the aquifier thus reducing the of cause of flooding in the city labi na cge uyan dha and for aesthetic value as well...cementing the walkways is not advisable..

Street in Surigao Renamed After MSC Founder

SURIGAO CITY, Philippines - The founder of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart now has a street named after him in the City of Surigao.

The Surigao City government renamed Magallanes Street to Jules Chevalier Street in honor of the MSC founder.

The street was unveiled by Surigao City Mayor Alfonso Casurra who said that the renaming of the street was an expression of the City’s gratitude to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart for serving the people of Surigao for the last one hundred years.

It was Fr Mark McDonald, the MSC General Superior, who blessed the street during its unveiling on the morning of 12 December 2008.

Other Surigao City government officials and members of the Chevalier family were present during the unveiling ceremony. The Provincial Governor, Ace Barbers, was represented by Board Member Melba Garcia.

SURIGAO CITY, Philippines - The founder of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart now has a street named after him in the City of Surigao.

The Surigao City government renamed Magallanes Street to Jules Chevalier Street in honor of the MSC founder.

The street was unveiled by Surigao City Mayor Alfonso Casurra who said that the renaming of the street was an expression of the City’s gratitude to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart for serving the people of Surigao for the last one hundred years.

It was Fr Mark McDonald, the MSC General Superior, who blessed the street during its unveiling on the morning of 12 December 2008.

Other Surigao City government officials and members of the Chevalier family were present during the unveiling ceremony. The Provincial Governor, Ace Barbers, was represented by Board Member Melba Garcia.

Such a good gesture of the city government. After all MSC has been in service of the people of Surigao for a century already. An honor well deserved by its founder.

DPWH an in charge pero LGU sagubang taga jaoy problema. Although LGU partly to blame sa proliferation of the structures, ya ma kontrol. Also influential people own some of those structures.:ohno:

I'm not sure if the LGU of Surigao City has offered to relocate this people. Sure, not a single city in the Philippines is spared of squatting and illegal settlers problems. Even the richest cities have this problem. I think Political will is the only solution to these problem.

Yes, Espina extension is near Canlanipa Housing Project. The view in Ceniza Heights near the old reservoir is more expectacular. There you can view the entire Brgys. Taft, Canlanipa and part of Cagniog. Washington is not visible because it is blocked by a mountain where the capitol is located. Sabang is also also partly visible. In fact I took pictures there and some of those were posted here in thread 5.

No, they are not the same. San Juan and Sabang are 2 different barangays of Surigao City. I think if you cross the bridge in (Asiatic, formerly and commonly known), that is barangay San Juan. Right after the 2nd or 3rd bridge it is Brgy. Sabang. Sabang is nearer to Lipata.
